Once upon a time she had sought to be a scout like Iraeneus. She'd wanted nothing more than to meet others, greet them at the prides border, and show them around. Alas, life hadn't quite worked out in her favour and she hadn't reached the lofty ranks of scout. In hindsight this wasn't such a bad thing as she had been given a default level of responsibility and this opened up many doors for her.
...Not that she had really given any of them much consideration.
Some might have considered her lazy, perhaps even a touch apathetic, but really there just hadn't been anything that had taken her fancy. Nothing had coaxed her out from the comfort of her home (unless hungry) and she had gone about her day to day life without much issue. Frankly she saw no reason to complain... until a certain series of events caught her rather off guard and she found herself peering at what could only be described as 'hostile' lions.
Granted they weren't hostile to her pride, but there was something about them than just didn't sit quite right...

As much as he had loved hunting when he was growing up, he had moved on to other things. Plus it gave him a reason to get out and about more. He was familiar with most of everyone in the pride, though never really had gotten the chance to speak to too many of the members.
Always funny how that worked right? Grow up around a gazillion others and only talk to 5 of them. Sounds about right.
He was soaking in the warm rays of the sun, not necessarily by choice, but because his coat was so dark. Either way, it was starting to cool off so it felt nice today. Pleased he purred deep in his throat and moved through the prides lands freely and happy. He spotted familiar pale huntress up ahead and recalled having hunted with her once or twice a long time ago, but words had never really been exchanged before. "What brings you out today?" He asked as he approached.

He had been a cub when she had first met him and his eyes had barely been open. She'd met his mother, she'd called herself 'Nana' and she had sought refuge in the Pridelands for both her and her cubs. Tala had been in Iraeneus's tutelage during that period, and it had watched as he steered the lioness and her cubs towards safety. She'd never asked for any further details regarding them and she was fairly certain her mentor hadn't either, after all, it hadn't really been their business right?
"Well, good morning!" she replied in her usual sunny tones, a warm smile creeping on to her lips as she shifted her weight so that she was pointing his direction. "Wonderful day, wouldn't you say?" she continued and then squinted at his coat. "Mmmm maybe a little too hot for you unless you're quite partial towards sitting in volcanoes," she added thoughtfully.
As to why she was out here...
"Eh, I'm just on a jaunt," she replied breezily and waved her paw. "Considering the merits of an epic adventure in which I discover brand new worlds and save dashing princes from their doom," she continued. "You?"

He smiled as she greeted him warmly and he nodded his head in agreement and then chuckled at her jesture towards his coloration and the heat. "The day is very nice," he said pausing breifly, "And I personally don't like to feel as though I'm in a volcano." His chuckle was warm and melodious.
He listened as she spoke and he couldn't help but admire her imaginative words. "I think that would be a tale of bold deeds and daring risks!" He imagined the pale lioness fighting off ruffians as she saved some shrieking prince from certain doom. It made him chuckle some more. "Nothing that exciting I'm afraid. Just my usual rounds, looking for danger you know." He was curious as to what the future held for the pridelands, but as for now everything was safe.
"Besides epic tales and grand adventures, anything new?"
Epine "Here?" she considered his question for a moment or two, pondering over whether or not she had, in fact, seen anyone as of late that would be a cause for concern. She might have been the lazy sort but her eyes did work and if she was entirely honest then... no, she couldn't honestly recall anyone who might have posed a risk to her safety or anyone in the pride. All in all, things had been normal and that was the reason she was considering this adventure in the first place! Nevertheless she eventually remembered that he was waiting for a response and shook her head.
"Nothing new," she said with a wry smile. "All quiet on this particular home front, it will be a bit of a bizarre state of affairs when something does happen," she mused and raised both eyebrows, her expression somewhat comical. "I imagine no one is going to know how to respond to it if something dramatic happens, there'll be a lot of hustle and bustle."
Frankly she would welcome something dramatic, just so long as it didn't hurt anyone.
...Maybe some sort of party?
He was hoping there hadn't been too much to report so her answer made him pleased. "Well, no news is good news most of the time I've found." He said with a nod of his head. "Could you imagine what would happen? Mass panic." he shuddered at the thought.
"I think it would liven things up a bit around here for sure though." He said smiling at her expressions she had made while she had been talking. "Though, i'm sure it would cause more harm than good." At least in his opinion on the matter. Many here weren't trained to deal with that type of thing. Oct 10, 2015 5:10 PM
Epine "It would depend on the excitement," she pointed out after a moment and chuckled. "If it was a party or festival, maybe a wandering troupe, then I suspect they would be fascinated," she continued. Frankly, the pridelands needed that kind of excitement quite a bit, sometimes it felt like they simply did nothing except... Well she didn't know, she daydreamed all day which was hardly constructive. Surely, there were prides out there that kept themselves busy even if life could be mundane on occasions?
"But if someone were to cross our borders with the intent on causing harm?" she pursed her lips and shook her head slowly. "You're right, I think there would be mass panic," she confirmed and released a sigh. "That being said, I wouldn't say no to more positive forces crossing the border, a little bit of spice couldn't hurt in that respect."
She paused.
"That's probably why I've been contemplating an adventure, I'm craving that spice." she said with a chuckle. Oct 10, 2015 5:25 PM
He hadn't thought about the good kind of excitment. "Oh, I think they would like that very much. I'm sure it would lighten the mood around her some or even give it more light." He said with a laugh thinking of some of the lions that seemed to have something shoved up where the sun didn't shine. Hmmm. He wondered if there was something he snag up. He did have a few connections outside the pridelands.
"I'm sure we won't have to worry about anything bad coming our way soon...." At least he hoped. He wasn't sure what would happen if something bad were to break out here. It wouldn't be good though. He knew that much. His brow raised and he gazed over at her. "I think I might know a few someone's who could help out on that aspect." Oct 10, 2015 5:50 PM
Epine "Iraeneus gave me a few ideas," she continued with the conversation and leant forward a touch. "He's been a scout for as long as I can remember and he's met plenty of folks," she mused. "So I have a brief list of places to visit and things to see, but he also pointed out that it was more fun to follow your paws on occasions," she smiled at the prospect of simply going wherever whimsy took her. It was both a daunting and exciting thought, all at once!
"But, I never say no to any other suggestions," she added and tilted her head to the side. Peering at the black lion, she gave him her full interest. "So let's hear it," she challenged, her lips twisting in to a grin. "Who do you know, or what do you know, that could be interesting and make my prince-rescues all the more dramatic, eh?" Oct 10, 2015 6:57 PM
He listened as she said that Iraeneus had given her some ideas and he was sure that he had quite the number of contacts as well. Being a scout gave them the opportunity to wander frequently and they got to know quite a bit and meet a number of different characters. "I'm sure the list he gave you will be well worth a trip." He said nodding his head to her with a smile.
He chuckled and raked his head and scoured a list of names and places.. He HAD gotten back from the Kizingo'zaa and Bahari not to long ago. NOW THAT was a place, AND they had a traveling Troupe! "There are some lands a few days travel to the west. It's called the kizingo'zaa and they were full of light and laughter and dance. It was definitely a place to see and one I will make sure to go visit again." He said looking at her. Oct 10, 2015 9:18 PM
Epine "Ah, I know of them, they're close to the coast aren't they?" she had them mentioned in passing but very little detail had been provided regarding them. Frankly, so long as they were welcoming she was likely to explore any pride at this point. Her only aim on any adventure was not to die, to come back in one piece, etc etc. They were hardly unrealistic goals and so long as she was smart about it she could certainly succeed in them.
"Any others?" she asked curiously. "They don't all need to be close to the beach, but a few couldn't hurt. Anything that's a curiosity is usually a good start," she continued. "Maybe something with trinkets and erm...not too dry, I don't think I'd be big on deserts." 27 mins ago
He nodded his head. "Yes, they are, and the pride next to them is very welcoming as well." He said recalling meeting members of both. "Those two are the best I can think of when it comes trinkets and not being too dry." He said with a light laugh as he tried to think of any others that matched her description. He really couldn't think of any others that had those qualities, at least not at the moment. "If i think of any others, i'll be sure to let you know though." He looked at the sky and figured he best be off. Places to go, lions to see. "We shall have to chat again soon." 18 mins ago
Epine "Hm, then it would seem I had better take the opportunity to meet these natives and see what it's all about," she mused with a smile. If they had trinkets, then she'd be picking herself up one or two as a memento, and hopefully add a little 'oomph' to her overall looks!
Nevertheless, she knew that the scouts had somewhat busier lives than she did, and rather than keep him for any longer she gave a delicate wave of her paw to let him know there would be no offense if he took his leave.
"Of course!" she replied and tilted her head to the side. "Maybe I'll have a tale or two to share if I embark on my adventure as well!" 1 min ago
"I think you'd enjoy it very much." He said, giving her a smile as he glanced around momentarily. "I'll be looking forward to hearing about them for sure! I'll see you around." He gave her a last nod of his head and moved off to make sure the rest of the pridelands were good.
