Iraeneus was aware of the sudden interest in military training in the Pridelands. He couldn't quite put his paw on what had started the push towards military training, but he wished those who wanted to participate well in their endeavours. However on a personal level, the scout had no real desire to pursue his career further than he already had. He was rather good at his job as a scout and it afforded him the chance to be more welcoming, and less intimidating, than your average military sort.
Granted, the male knew exactly how to protect himself when times were tough, and he'd been more than prepared when the Bonelands had sought to turn their gaze upon them, but beyond that... Well, he much preferred to be the cuddly teddy bear that welcomed the tired or curious with a welcoming smile and a helpful offer of his paw. Whether they sought shelter, or merely directions to another region entirely, he rather liked being the more pleasant face of the pride than a 'rawr I will eat you for breakfast' sort.
...That and it was a bit too much effort.
He had long since grown accustomed to his sunbathing as he watched the world go by from his favoured watch post, he didn't much see the appeal in, if necessary, marching beyond the borders to set some wayward lions straight!

Areo wasn't sure how he felt about the militant training that was going on yet, though he had gone to the training that had been done not too long ago. He had seen what the others had seen in his visions, or at least heard really. It was terrible and terrifying, he hoped it wouldn't come true.
Even still, he figured they could protect themselves pretty decently. They had a strong group of lions in the pride and he was sure that if any dangers did this way come, they would be able to keep it at bay.
However, he was enjoying the day and spotted Ira not to far ahead. He recognized the Scout instantly, though had never really talked to him before. "Fine day is it not?" He asked as he approached the lounging male. Areo's dark coat in contrast to the males own. "Have you heard anything interesting as of late?" He was curious to know if perhaps there was something of interest besides the impending 'war'.

"Areo," he replied smoothly, rolling on to his back and tilting his head backwards to greet the approaching male. He had always been the casual sort, even after all these years he would never bow to pomp and circumstance, it just...wasn't for him. It was particularly difficult for him to be formal when he had known this particular lion (or known of him), since he had been old enough to walk - his mother had come in to the pride a little worse for wear to say the least.
"Hmmm... something interesting," he tapped at his maw with a paw, his expression thoughtful as he tried to recollect something that would be considered a topic of concern or intrigue. Alas, he couldn't actually recall any sort of ground breaking news that might stop the presses, all had been quiet on the home front contrary to the declarations of his kin!
"I did see an unusually large migration of birds the other day," he mused. "One of them told me that I was looking husky and could do with a work out," he added and gave a snort. "Do I look fat to you? I'm pretty sure it's just the fur," he murmured, then promptly released a sigh. "Honestly I think it's safe to say that quite frankly, if a zebra farted a hundred miles away I'd probably hear it given how quiet it's been."
"Not to be crude or anything..." he added with a grin.

He stared at the male for a moment and then couldn't help but laugh at his words. "Well that must have been quite interesting to say the least. I'm going to go with fur on this one." He added with a light huff of a laugh like chuckle. The male was large, but he wouldn't really have considered him fat by any means. He had seen a fat lion in his day and he was definitely not what he had seen. "Oh, not crude at all. The humor is quite needed." He said with a chuckle. He did have to hand it to him though, his words were true. With how calm things had been lately it was 'almost' possible for such a thing to happen. Though he wouldn't say it was likely, but the idea wasn't false. "I do suppose that's a good thing though. I'd rather it be too quiet but at the same time it makes you wonder if this is the quiet before the storm....." His words trailed off and he looked towards the distance. "Do you have family here?" It was random but he was curious.

"Well, best not to dwell on anything too grim, let's just hope it's a quiet moment and the worst storm we get is an actual one," Iraeneus smirked and glanced over his shoulder, then up towards the sky as if to check for any encroaching cloud. Fortunately it seemed like they were in luck for now and neither of them was going to be doused in water... That didn't necessarily mean it wouldn't happen, but it didn't even smell like rain so he was going to assume they were 'safe'.
Nevertheless, Areo had soon moved on to another conversational topic and the paler lion pursed his lips. He certainly wasn't new blood, that was for certain, so he wasn't entirely sure why the question had been made. Ah, but perhaps Areo was 'new' blood for want of a better word? It would make sense, he may not even be used to the fact that the Pridelanders had such extensive families.
"Yes, I do," Iraeneus confirmed with a chuckle. "A fair number of them actually but we don't typically see each other much," he added. "I'm usually out here and they're up to no good elsewhere," he motioned with his paw towards Areo. "I don't need to ask you about that, I distinctly remember meeting your mother," he added with a grin. "Though I do wonder if perhaps you might have met any others in your line beyond the immediate ones here..."

He was aware some of the members had extensive families, some of them didn't so he was always curious to know more about some of the family lines. His ears perked when he mentioned his mother. "Oh, you don't say." Small pride as it is, he's not entirely surprised but at least he knew who she was. He hadn't talked to her in some time. He wondered how she was. He hadn't seen some of his family in a while either, he needed to remedy that. "I have met a half sister in the Bahari once." He commented, wondering if he had family members elsewhere. While Primitus wasn't his father by blood he was his father none-the-less. He knew that God got around a bit. As did his biological father. "I don't know if I've met any of Neltharions other children." You could almost feel the dislike for him in his voice. "Have you met any?"

Iraeneus had no familiarity with the gods, in fact, he was technically religious. Those who proclaimed they were divine were simply born with gifts he didn't entirely understand, and based on many of their track records, these were gifts that were often abused... or simply existed to try and cause an impressive amount of inbreeding throughout the land. Not exactly complimentary to be sure, but it did ensure Iraeneus didn't suffer from being star struck too often.
"Other than those she brought with her?" he asked. He assumed that Neltharion was the name of their father, though he distinctly remembered the lioness had kept that one rather close to her chest. "I don't believe so; if I have then there certainly hasn't been a song and dance about it," he pointed out. It was a quiet indication that he probably wouldn't have panicked if he stumbled upon one or two of them in passing.
After all, lions could be pleasant or complete assholes regardless of their upbringing.
"Wherever your father may have graced the land with more of his offspring, they haven't crossed my path," he shrugged. "Or if they have, they haven't revealed themselves and they've behaved themselves," he said with a smile. "Perhaps you might want to say hello to your mother while you're here, she's probably wondering how you are," he added. "As mothers are want to do on occasions..."

He gave a small nod of his head. He figured it was a long shot to ask, but it was good to know if there were other siblings from his fathers side they haven't acted like their sire, at least not yet. He vowed at a young age he'd never be like that Lion, no matter what. "I will definitely do that, I've missed her." He said hoping she was doing well since he had last took off on a little trip. "Well, I don't want to hold you up for much longer. I do hope you have a good rest of your day." He offered up to the male.

AstoriaFallen 2018! Omg! *Plunks tag in* Sorry these took so long. D: If I've missed anymore can you requote me so we can close those off for you? "I'm sure she'll be delighted," Iraeneus didn't know his mother terribly well but if she was as predictable as other mothers were in regards to their children, she'd most likely be as giddy and ecstatic as the rest of them. Far be it for the scout to deny her that joy and similarly, her own child's happiness at a fleeting reunion.
...Iraeneus doubted the lion would stay for long, he seemed the type to wander, but the Pridelands were always welcoming towards those with good intentions so he could always come back!
"I will endeavour to have a decent day," he reassured him with a smile. Iraeneus rarely struggled to have a good one but every now and then bad things could happen, no one could live a life entirely perfectly. Still, he'd prefer to remain positive and take the good will where it came.
"If you get lost don't be afraid of asking for more directions from the locals, though I suspect you'll be fine..."
