[ .Components - Their Effects on Raevans ]

Every Raevan is born from a unique soul and a fel essence. Generally, but not strictly so, the soul affects the design of the Raevan, and the fel essence affects the color scheme of the Raevan; the effects of the components may intermingle depending on the Raevan.

[ .Unique Features - Rune, Ribbon, Wings ]

Biologically, Freis are preadolescent Raevans, Sigels are adolescent Raevans, and Valsaros are fully matured Raevans. Despite this frame of reference, it’s important to keep in mind that all Raevans are born with and mature mentally and emotionally at a variety of different rates throughout their lives.

That being said, a Raevan’s body is still born imperfectly from Dr. Kyou’s laboratory; Freis and Sigels are, essentially, still growing into their full bodies. Runes are the source or symbol of the Raevan’s life energy and are a literal manifestation of the fel essence. The Raevan’s rune is visible near the ‘core’ of the Raevan at the top of the ribbon; the Raevan’s body consumes this rune slowly overtime, until it is completely absorbed as a Valsaros. These runes glow white and emanate unique colors that are typically based on the Raevan’s fel essence.

The signature features of a Raevan exist primarily to aid their movement and growth as a Frei and Sigel, before they are fully developed Valsaros. At the Frei and Sigel stage, the Raevan’s legs are undeveloped, and the Raevan’s signature ribbon is present instead; in Freis, the ribbon begins from the chest down, and in Sigels, the ribbon begins from the waist down. RIbbons serve as a protective anatomical feature for the Raevan’s rune to ward off particulate matter while the Raevan continues to develop.

While the ribbon is present, Raevans float and use their wings as a method of propulsion. A Raevan’s wings tend to grow in size as they age, and every Raevan is born with a unique pair of wings based on their soul and essence. A Raevan’s wings and its abilities are also up to the writer’s creative license-- while some Raevans can fly, others can’t, while others’ wings may even be completely immobile.

Raevans are also born with unique traits that set them apart from their peers. Traits should not be confused with powers! These traits are unique, noteworthy features of an individual Raevan’s anatomy, and are often based on the Raevan’s soul.

[ .Food Sources ]

It’s important to remember that Raevans are not born with a stomach, and only develop one as a Sigel. As Freis, Raevans generally can’t digest complex or manufactured foods, and may fall ill if they do so. Simple, fresh, and organic foods such as fruit, vegetables, and water can generally be consumed by a Frei.

Raevans also have unique food sources they can feed on from birth; given that these unique food sources directly contribute to producing more energy for their rune, they may feel more fulfilling for Raevans to consume than ‘human food.’ These unique food sources depend highly on the essence, and sometimes on the soul, and can be consumed in a multitude of ways. Feeding methods tend to differ between Raevans, but the most common methods are usually through the skin or by chewing with the mouth; you are free to use your writing liberties when thinking about this.

[ .Powers ]

Raevans are innately magical, and are usually born with powers that are reflective primarily of their fel essence, but occasionally of their soul, as well. These powers are completely up to the creative license of the Raevan’s writer, so go wild! During events, we limit the number of powers a Raevan can begin with at Freihood to four.

There are certain limitations, however, that we request you keep in mind so as to not make the Raevan too overpowered. Please do not make any powers that affect time, or use your Raevans as a method to forcefully control other characters’ behavior. If you wish to make a power for a Raevan that may affect others’ mental, emotional, or physical state, please be sure to ask other writers for their consent in doing so first.

Powers are typically split into two categories: active and passive. Active powers are powers that take the conscious effort of a Raevan to summon, while passive powers are the innate magical qualities of a Raevan that may either enhance their own qualities or affect the world around them. Examples of active powers maybe include Raevans being able to manipulate physical elements-- fire, wind, water, and earth; examples of passive powers may include enhanced senses, strength, endurance, or even communion with plants and animals. Again, Raevan writers are in charge of coming up with their Raevan’s powers; the world is your oyster!
