Description: Unfortunately for survivors, the mall was built to let people in instead of keeping people out. There are numerous entrances and exits scattered around the mall, and that doesn’t even include the direct entrances and exits some stores have. Everyone agrees that a lock isn’t enough. Rather than have the worst happen, everyone is encouraged to scavenge and locate what they can from the mall and use it to help barricade and block off entrances. At least one entrance has been barricaded and set up to use as a main entrance and exit. The rest need to be reinforced.
Goal: RP your survivor finding something to help barricade the mall. It can be a table or chairs from one of the many stores, or even one of the stands out in the middle of the mall floor. Have them add it to a barricade. There are barricades that lead directly to the mall, as well as barricades within stores themselves.
First time doing this quest? Please write a minimum of 100 words for 1 Arcade Token.
Repeating? Minimum word count jumps up to 300 in order to claim your 1 Arcade Token.
Feeling wordy? Go above and beyond the bare minimum for additional tokens! You need to meet this word count while doing the quest, so no going back to pad your quest to claim tokens! These token bonuses do not stack, so you can't write 100 words to claim 1 token, then add 300 words to claim 2 more tokens.
500 words = 2 Arcade Tokens. 600 words = 3 Arcade Tokens. 700 words = 4 Arcade Tokens. 800 words = 5 Arcade Tokens.
Stumped? Now’s a great time for your character to reflect on the crazy things that have gone down. Maybe they’re upset and need to calm down by nailing things into the barricade. Maybe they’re feeling creative and think the barricades could use more color and decide to go crazy with some glitter glue. The only requirement (aside from the word count) is that your character is doing something to improve the barricades protecting them and everyone else from the infected.
Whistle While You Work: Doing stuff alone is fine, but you don’t have to solo! Feel free to play along with some friends as you work together. The word count can be spread out throughout your total posts for the day.

Barricade the entrance huh? Granny could do that. She picked an entrance near the shop she planned to call home and started to remove all the racks and furnishings she didn't want in her new home base. "Humm these boxes don't seem to sturdy but I'll put them here to help make some sound when they come in." she set them down and then immediately tripped over one on her way back. "Hey who put those boxes there?" It wasn't neat... oh yeah she put them there.
She shoved a shelf next. It was slow work moving it but she was careful not to strain her back. She wished Charles was still alive. He would have been able to move these with ease. This was one of those things that was the man's job. She didn't mind helping but this was a young man's job.
Not an old lady.
Well she only had herself to depend on now, so she had to do it. And she managed, very slowly. She shimmied the shelf into place and looked it over. It was empty but she could at least make it look nice. she took some decorations and added it to the top. "There, that's a homey touch."
She walked back and grabbed another shelf and stacked it up against the door, carefully arranging the pieces into what she hoped was maximum effectiveness.
"Just a little more and this spot will be good." that other shelf was going. It was heavy but she grunted and slowly shimmied it. she scratched the floor a bit, and winces, pausing to look at it. "Well... I suppose it's not going to come out. Oh well... I hope they don't charge me for that." not that she was really worried about that. it wasn't like those things hadn't done more damage. "Probably insurance will cover it. They had better anyway."

"This is really slow work alone. Someone come help me. Hey! Fine don't come help me." she scowled to herself. "Useless the lot of them." she mumbled as she stacked up yet another shelf.
Hummmm... Her neighbor didn't really need that shelf did they? No she didn't think so. She would just... move it. Yes. All of the major things were cleared out of her store so these would do. That table would do too. "Ok Gracie, you can do this. Heave ho! Alright!" she got the shelf up and stacked.
Sand bags would really be better, but she had to make do with what they had right?
A team of them could line up and... Oh who was she kidding, they were interested in barricading their own doors.
Not that she could blame them. Still they could be more efficient about it. She tripped over that box. again. "Ok I got to move this box."
She kicked it and then shoved it around. "Ok then." She studied her work. "This should prevent them from coming in here. anyways. I should probably set a lantern up over here though... just in case the power goes out. Leave it off. but have it there. where to find one? Walmart yes!" she walked down to Walmart.
"Alright... now which section was that in? Humm we may not have any here, I might need to go to Sears or something. Ahhh got to love post apocalyptic shopping." she grinned to herself. she searched the allies and picked up some darts. "Those kids not picking up their toys. We only have so many Nerf darts." she walked into what was clearly a stash.... and then moved it and hid it behind a box grinning to herself. "My stash now." yes that would be a good place, as long as no one moved it.

Granny found the aisle she was looking for, about 20 feet to the left of where it should be. "oh good one was left over." she scrounged and picked it up. "Hummm a little cracked but it will have to do. it's just for keep those things out anyway." the un dying. just thinking about them gave her a shiver. she had heard about them, and seen them lurking in the shadows. There was a reason she never left the mall after certain hours. Why no one did. Usually they didn't come back.

"Alright this is nice. It just needs something over it. a nice table cloth should do." Granny evaluated and then decided it was time for a sense of style to kick in. "I'll keep a sight line on the door up but, a nice vase here would looks good too. Yes." she couldn't clean appropriately but she would not be living i a dump either. She insisted it would at least look nice, somewhat. There would at least be some decent accommodations. Her inner housewife would not allow for junk.
She set things up and made it look nice. "there. the flowers are a nice touch."
