He was still prepping his gun when the first cut-out popped up, the click making him jump. Daryn spun to face it, firing off a shot without thinking. If this was an attack from the infected, he couldn't take the time to think. Decisions had to be made split-second with this stuff.
Unfortunately, the decision was the wrong one. An elderly man, most likely from some sort of medical ad, was now seated with a bright pink 'bullet wound' right in the stomach of his blue plush sweater.
Damn, he'd have to be more careful. He couldn't keep making these mistakes.

Another click to his left and his gun was raised again, firing at... a blond woman in a tennis sweater. This really wasn't working out for him. Maybe there was a reason he'd been kept away from field work.
Adjusting his glasses, he looked her over, hoping like hell that he'd missed. No such luck. Stuck, right at the base of her ponytail was a big pink SPLAT.

Daryn glanced around the court, hoping the next cut-out was one he'd be alright working with. Clearly, he wasn't having much luck with them. He was just too jumpy. The man had no field training, at all. He was a secretary. Honestly, he'd barely held a gun since getting out of basic training.
The next cut-out to pop up, he rushed into, despite telling himself to stop and think it over. Conflicting thoughts kept him from holding fire long enough to get a good look.
This time a blue-eyed little girl ended up with a bright pink spot square in the middle of her ball.

Rubbing his face, he tried to keep himself in the best mood for this sort of thing. He had to keep his head on straight, be prepared for the next one. The former-police kept his finger on the trigger, ready for whatever was to come. He'd be ready this time. Take his time and breathe. Be completely calm and wait until he knew for sure this was one to go after. This time, the cut-out, some teenage kid leaning, appeared only a few feet in front of him. Muscles tightened involuntarily, a shot fired, and there was a pink splatter across the kid's blue jeans. Dammit! OOC Changing his one-miss to a hit, because he's really jumpy.

How many more of these did he even have to go through? How did anyone even manage any of this? It was ridiculous, honestly. Having to make split-second decisions, not even because he was trying to keep people alive, necessarily. Of course, that was a lot of the point in this. But more because he was terrified of the things.
Turning back toward the walls, he caught a blur of color in his peripherals. Gun in hand, he turned and let loose another shot, splattering another teen's graphic tee with the pink goo. This was... definitely not his strong point.

With an exasperated sigh, he slung the gun over his shoulder, managing to catch the trigger and send another shot firing off. Thank God for that silencer. And the fact that the other members of the prison weren't exactly paying attention to his screw ups.
Almost afraid to find out what had been hit with the all too familiar wet slap, he turned to see a mother with a baby in arms. Well. That... could have gone so much better.
Pulling the gun down, he clicked the safety on before heading back toward his cellblock.
