Search rp with: Vosin/Gold Killakeeth, N'oka/Bronze Experath, Litaidar and Kitchi Killakeeth had had an excellent flight, which if course meant eggs were on the way. That in turn meant the weyr needed candidates. Vosin knew what she had to do. As a searchrider, it was her job to head out to the holds and seek out those teens who might be acceptable to the young dragons. She knew that Benden wasn't an active weyr anymore, so any weyr could search from the people there. Vos decided she wanted to visit her old home anyhow so it was the perfect excuse.
It was a bit of a surprise when N'oka voiced her decided to join her search. Normally, she went out alone and might have been offended at the escort. Vos realized that she and her pregnant gold might be a target for the rogue golds. So it wouldn't hurt to have another dragon along. Plus a bronze escort never hurt. Vosin stood with a hand resting on Killa's leg. She was ready to ride and waiting for N'oka and Experath to get there. She knew her rider often got homesick. The gold had no problem where she searched. It didn't register on the dragon that they were heading back to where she'd been hatched. She glanced down at her rider. Experath, mine and I are ready to leave, she politely informed the bronze. Litaidar made the familiar sounds to call her flock to her for their midday feeding. She rattled the grains in the bucket as she spread it out. Watching the birds come down and surround her, the young woman eyed them critically. Some were starting to look pretty plump and about right for the table. There would be some good eating in the next few days. She scooped out handfuls of grain and threw it out in an arch.

N'oka was not keen on this idea. The remains of Benden weren't really the kind of place he liked to search. Never mind that he wasn't especially keen on the idea of returning to where he had impressed anyway. The place wasn't full of happy memories for him, with the exclusion of anything Experath related at least. Yet Experath had gotten him into this and he had to keep the offer.
The bronze wiggled excitedly as N'oka fastened his riding straps. he called out to the other dragon.
Pulling himself up onto the dragon's back N'oka huffed. Thus was life with Experath and his ever changing focus. Trumpeting happily the dragon leapt into the air, winging towards the other searchpair. Circling above the two Experath rumbled down.
-------------
It was free time for Kitchi and that could only mean one thing: Litaidar was about to be pestered. The healer happily skipped outside. It was about midday and that meant that the flock would be getting fed and so she knew where to find her friend. "Liiiiitaidaaar!" Kitchi called out as she approached the other teen. "They're looking good, Lita. Ready to serve them up yet?" Coming to a stop the healer clasped her hands behind her back, rocking forward on her toes, looking between the wherries and her friend.

She looked up as a bronze came winging overhead. "That our escort?" Vosin grabbed a strap to swing herself up into place on the neck ridges without waiting for an answer. A quick buckle in later and she flashed a thumbs up to N'oka to show she was ready. Alright Killa. Let's go to Benden Weyr. Vos formed the picture in her mind and sent it to her dragon for the trip between.
She counted to three as they transferred through between. Vosin grinned as light and sound return. She looked down on her old home. Someday she wanted to rebuild Benden. However today was not that day. Looks quiet, she commented to her dragon. Undoubtedly things weren't going to stay that way for long. Greetings Experath. Thank you and yours for coming along with me. The gold let her rider settled then leaped up for the sky. Her wide wings made great sweeps as she joined the bronze up in the air. Once at a good height, Killa stretched out her wings to glide. We are going. I have a good image Vos. Here we go. The gold took herself and her rider into the cold and dark of between. Three breaths later and they came out into the cold air of the weyr. The last of the grain fell to the ground. Lita stepped back to remove herself from the middle of her flock. She was proud of her birds. A familiar voice made her look toward the fence. She chuckled at the question and wandered over. "Thanks. Oh any day now I'm sure. Looking forward to tender wherry breast?"
A woosh of cold air made her look up as her flock scattered to the sheltered edges of their pasture. A dragon visiting Benden was unusual, much less two; so when two dragons appeared in the skies and they were gold and bronze it was something to take notice of. "Woaaaah......" Lita breathed out as she watched the dragons in the air. "Wouldja look at dem! I'mma go see what they're here for!" She bounced out of the pen and headed toward the landing field where she estimated the dragons would come to land.

Experath replied happily. he relayed to N'oka. His rider letting out only a small hum of acknowledgement in response. Looking down N'oka saw Vosin give a thumbs up and nodded in response. The pair watched Killakeeth rise into the air and blink between before jumping between themselves.
The pair reappeared over Benden and Experath shook his head to dispell the cold sensation of the jump. The bronze enquired as they looked down. He had no memory of the place at all, but he knew it was very familiar to N'oka. Emptier, but it still looked the same to him. It looked peaceful. It seemed almost unfair for it to look that way. After everything that had happened here.
Experath sent to Killakeeth as her turned into a wide, lazy, circle. The bronze didn't like hovering. That was boring.
-------
"Naturally, who doesn't love good wherry?" Strange people, that was who. Kitchi sometimes wondered, if Litaidar hadn't decided to be a wherry herder then would they have wherry less often? Presumably it meant fewer wherries could be effectively kept. Kitchi felt a whoosh of air and stared after the scattering wherries before hearing Lita made her turn her head. "Huh, that's odd." Seeing dragons was unusual. Seeing a gold was very unusual.
When her friend took off Kitchi quickly followed. "Do you think it's one of the rogue golds come to raid?" Oddly the young woman didn't seem all that concerned by this concept. Two dragons wasn't much of a raid. There wasn't much to raid in Benden either. Then again two was big enough to snatch up a beast or two so they might be having a snatch and grab.

Vosin took her time studying the weyr from her vantage point. It was easy to see the herds starting to panic. Did they still remember the dragons feeding, or was simply an instinctual fear? Over there away from the herds if you please Killa. It wouldn't be nice or put them on good terms if all the herds panicked. She could already see some of them, a wherry flock for one. Killakeeth eyed the birds favorably. She hoped they might offer her one or two. They looked particularly good. Her attention was dragged back by Experath's question, and amusingly her rider's answer. We'll land in that field Experath. Vos seems to think we shouldn't scare the food. The dragon adjusted her wings to change direction and head toward the landing spot. She let him land first, to ah clear the ground first before leisurely back-winging to a graceful stop. Litaidar shook her head. "I doubt they'd do it broad daylight? Plus if you were coming to raid.... would you only bring two dragons?" That didn't make sense to her. She'd being a whole wing. The teen doubted it was raid, but couldn't deny totally that it wasn't. She slowly slightly as she weighed her odds. The adults were graceful as they circled over head. "Only one way to find out."
They weren't the only ones who'd seen the dragons of course. Others were heading toward where the dragons intended to land. "Whacha think they're here for?"

Experath rumbled in agreement and turned in the direction of the food. He did like to stir up the herds a bit when he fed, but if Killakeeth's rider thought it best not to then he would behave himself. N'oka added in. The remaining weyrfolk might be okay with them taking their children to be riders, but they probably wouldn't be as happy about them taking their beasts. There wasn't much left in the Weyr after all.
Experath landed with a heavy thud, grace never being his stronge suit. With ease of practice N'oka climbed down from the dragon's back. Experath quickly swinging his head around for attention as Killakeeth landed. N'oka looked over Experath's nose at the other rider as he dutifully attended the many itches that the bronze had miraculously acquired on his face, right by his favour attention areas too. "So, did you have a plan for how she should go about searching here?"
-----------------------------------
"Not like we got our own dragons to scare 'em off." Seemed a wonder Benden didn't get raided, it was rather lacking in defences. There was really much to steal though. Plus it'd probably attracted to much attention to the group that did it. Still raiders or not Kitchi followed Litaidar towards the landed dragons.
"Dunno, maybe they're another of them that like to come here because of what happened. Y'know pay respects to all the people that died here and all that."

Vosin let her dragon land and settle. Killa always did like being viewed as the impressive dragon she was. She gave a fond slap to the gold shoulder and slipped down her side. The woman mosied over to stand near Experath's head on the opposite side from N'oka. She caught the last half of N'oka's questions. "Ask them to trot their kids out, same as I always do." She grinned with a wink. "Plus kids are curious creatures. They'll show up if we hang around long enough."
As a group of adults approached, Vosin stepped forward to meet them. "Greetings from Trine! I'm Vosin of Killakeeth, and this is N'oka of Experath. We are here on Search if you'd permit us the hospitality of your Weyr." Never again would she call it a Wherhold. Despite no dragons being housed here, it was still a weyr in her mind. Killakeeth landed with grace and poise. She folded her wings back and settled down. Looming, as impressive as she was, sometimes didn't help. All she had to do was look beautiful (which was all the time thank you), and search any children of appropriate age who approached. I bet a mark Experath that they will be overjoyed to have children searched for Trine. She glanced at the bronze to see if he would take up her bet. Litaidar nodded ruefully. They didn't have a lot here anymore to judge by the oldtimer's stories. The skies use to be filled with dragons, and the caves filled with people. She glanced back at her friend. "That's an interesting thought. I think I've seen that gold here before." She frowned, trying to remember specifics. Ah well it didn't matter now. "C'mon I'm getting closer. I wanna hear what they say." As long as the adults didn't tell them to stay back she was going to get as close as possible. If they stayed quiet, most adults didn't notice them anyhow.

"Sounds fair," N'oka replied with a nod. Most of the time he visited very small places, where everyone emptied almost immediately anyway. He'd let Vosin handle the formalities on this one. The rider glanced around briefly. No familiar faces, but maybe that was a good thing. Experath replied brightly. Dragons didn't have pockets. Handy things pockets. N'oka didn't like Experath dealing with money. Apparently he wasn't good at it.
------------------
"You think she might've been here before?" Maybe she lived here once even. Kitchi couldn't remember any of the dragons from before clearly. The healer apprentice nodded settled into a skip as they approached the dragons. There were a few people here now. If it was a raid she had plenty of time to run away before they got here. Which was good.

She had to admit, she had a bit of an advantage as a serachrider. Vosin cast a sly glance toward her dragon. A gold was awe inspiring and could usually bring people out, especially teens. That brought them right into range of her dragon. Once Killakeeth singled someone out, not many parents would say no to having them searched. Vosin only hoped that being searched by her didn't make them get a big head or feel they had a better chance of impressing simply because a gold had chosen them. Thankfully that wasn't her issue once she got the kids back. Thank the Shell for candidatemasters! Vosin giggled.
Vosin chattered with the adults. Sometimes she would see that extra supplies were brought here. She wanted to see it prosper despite not having current dragonriders. Someday she wanted to bring Benden Weyr back to it's former glory, before Kellar had tarnished it. So she inserted questions into the conversation to see if there was anything she could do to help. Particularly if they took some needed children away from here. More people were gathering as time went on. She saw some in the correct age range, but didn't hear a peep from Killa. Killakeeth curved her neck coyly at the bronze. 'Surely yours wouldn't mind just a mark.' She did like to make things interesting. Some teens hung about the edges of the group as she examined them. 'Nothing interesting so far. How about you Experath?' It really was a small group living here, so she didn't expect much in the way of potential candidates. Why had her rider even brought them here, except for sentimental reasons? Litaidar gave a half-hitch of her shoulder. "Possible. I overheard the adults talkin' about a goldrider who visits every-now-n-again. Could be her." The teen finally got close enough to join in with the main group around the riders. She eyed the dragons. The gold was scarred. Had the gold in the stories been scarred? Lita couldn't remember. She strained her hears to hear what they were talking about. Mainly just seemed to be boring talk, how were they doing, and did they need anything. She puffed up just slightly. They were doing just fine on their own!

Experath glanced down at his rider. The man was looking at the conversation, but the dragon could feel him being a tiny bit moody just from that comment. Turning to the safer subject of future candidates the bronze looked around to spy any potential. He liked the look of her.
---------------
"Looks like you've caught some attention." Kitchi elbowed her friend and pointed at the bronze dragon, very clearly look right at Litaidar and not even trying to hide it. That'd be interesting, if Litaidar got searched. She would be lonely without her friend, but still dragons were amazing and Lita should go for it. Kitchi wondered briefly if her wherry raising skills would be useful for raising a baby dragon.

Vosin entertained the adults while the dragons did their thing. There was a couple things they needed, and she promised to see what she could do to get it to them. She noted the movement of the metalic heads out of the corner of her eye. Had they spotted something that interested them? She hoped it wasn't the wherries again. Killa was always thinking with her stomach. The dragon gave an unsatisfied sniff. 'You should tell him to relax and unwind before he hurts himself.' She was the master of being the devil on the shoulder. Killakeeth was distracted by the comment about a potential candidate. Could a human look like an angry firelizard? She also turned her head in the direction of the pair of girls. Her eyes whirled with amusement. Something had offended the one girl for sure. 'She does look like an angry firelizard doesn't she? The one beside her looks quite steady too. Should you pass the word on?' One of them needed to tell the riders of course. Litaidar froze as first one then the other large head looked in their direction. Now she understood why her wherries had fled. They were huge! She shook her head and muttered, "can't be. It's probably you." There didn't seem to be too many teens hanging around today. The dragons weren't showing any interest in the ones that were though. It was odd. "Ya don't think their here on Search do ya?"

Experath chirped happily. Turning to the private channel he shared with his rider he flashed the image of the two teens into his rider's mind. N'oka had long since stopped questioning how people could 'feel' loyal and other things like that. If Experath thought they showed promise then he trusted the dragons judgement. He nodded and stepped up beside Vosin.
"It seems we have some likely candidates." He tilted his head slightly toward the pair.
--------
Kitchi shrugged, looking right back at the pair of dragons. "Maybe they are. Can't be looking at me though if that's the case. I'm a healer. Can't be a healer and a rider."

She was beginning to fear that perhaps there wasn't anyone suitable here. They were starting to run out of things to talk about without actually having to say, 'bring your kids forward for the search.' Not nearly as fun to have teens paraded before you like so much cattle. Just as she was about to give up hope, N'oka stepped up beside her. Vosin leaned back slightly to hear him and grinned. She whispered, "oh good! They found some." It was nice to have a worth while trip.
"Our dragons have picked out a couple of likely candidates. If you can please let them through so we can talk to them?" While she gestured to the pair, might have been easily misinterpreted who she was actually signally to. She needed to talk to the pair and then speak with their families. Vosin wasn't the type of rider to just whisk kids off. Killa rumbled softly. She took matters into her own paws by bespeaking the girls directly. The gold never had a problem by speeding the process along. 'Why yes, we are on Search,' she answered the question. 'In fact, we have chosen both you. Would you kindly come forward? My rider must speak with you.' Privately she continued on to Kitchi alone, 'you are still an apprentice yes? Then you can be a candidate despite that. Of course you can always refuse our offer, but I do not think your friend would like to go alone.' Blackmail? Maybe just a little. She saw the female rider wave. Was it at them? It was so hard tell. However all doubts were quickly erased when a voice blossomed into her head. It was distinctly female, and could only belong to the gold. Lita felt her eyes bulging. The dragon was speaking to her! "Kitchi! Did you hear her?!" It was important that her friend had also heard. She wasn't going crazy was she?

Kitchi paused at the voice in her head. Oh, she wasn't sure whether she liked that or not. It seemed weird to her. Maybe riders got used to it after a while. "I heard her," she replied with a nod. "Do they usually talk like that?" Experath's much louder voice burst into both candidate's mind. The bronze quietened as N'oka gently pointed out that maybe he was going a bit fast for the girls. It was a lot to take in after all. He still remembered when he'd been searched. That had been a hard thing to get his head around.
he said gently to the bronze.
The bronze shuffled, crouching down and lying his chin on the floor. Now he was at about eye level. That made him less intimidating, right? Beside Vosin N'oka couldn't manage to hide his smile as the bronze tried turning his puppy eyes at the girls.
Kitchi wasn't sure what to do. Healing was what she loved doing most in the world. She was good at it. The girl's usual bounce slowed, gradually coming to a stop. But if she didn't go and Litaidar did she'd be lonely and if she didn't go and Litaidar stayed because of that then she'd have taken away Lita's chance to be a dragonrider. She couldn't do that to Lita, but she really wanted to be a healer. Maybe she could be a healer at Trine. Yeah, she'd be a candidate with Litaidar and then once Lita impressed she'd go back to being a healer! It wouldn't take Lita long to impress, she was great after all.

She was surprised when the bronze got down as low as he could. What was going on between those two? The dragon was staring with adoration at the two girls. It was hilarious, but she said nothing. Killa cast an amused glance as Experath belatedly chimed in. She didn't think it was something he normally did, and it amused her. The dragon watched from one eye as the bronze got down low and chortled to see him trying to be un-intimidating. Males could be very amusing indeed. With relief, Kitchi confirmed she'd heard the dragon as well. "I dun..." Lita never got a chance to finish as a second, this time masculine, voice answered in her head. She didn't have to ask this time if Kitchi heard. The old folk didn't talk about all the dragons speaking to random people. So why were these two? This time she looked at Kitchi to see how the other felt about this. Since her accident Turns ago, her friend had been neck deep in healing. This would be quite a change from that. "What do you say? Should we go?" The bronze was doing something. She watched as he laid down and then made puppy eyes at them. Lita laughed softly. "I suppose we'd better go at least talk! It'd be rude after being singled out." She made her way forward through the crowd that had parted for them.
