Notes
RP Notes for this Quest
Make sure the following are mentioned in your RP:
- Your Character being given a large reusable plastic bag (bearing the Emerston bookstore's name), and a flashlight.
- Once you are finished the quest, please mention them returning the bag and flashlight!

To Complete this quest:
- You must scavenge in TWO different areas, and fill in each post with RP to consider the quest completed.
- Roll a 1d6 to start - This will determine where you are scavenging. Then, follow the information in that area's SPOILER TAG for further information.
- This quest must be done in separate posts - there should be at least 4 posts total (1 to choose location, 1 to scavenge, 1 to choose second location, 1 to scavenge second location).
- Scavenging rolls may be done in one post or three (1 post of 3d6, or 3 posts of 1d6).
- Please note that any items found are considered IC gains only and will not count towards your mini site totals. Any food or water is automatically given to the University storage for later IC rationing!

Anya’s roommate found her peeking out the window after her scare and failing to clean and hauled her out of the dorms to go and help search. If she couldn’t clean, maybe she’d be better off scavenging. Anya thought this was a terrible idea. I didn’t clean because I got scared! So now I get to go out and search and possibly run into something dangerous? Not good! But when she was handed the plastic bag and flashlight she took them. She did not want to be labeled as dead weight and be the first person sacrificed should something go wrong… and something always went wrong!

Where to start? She thought and looked around the campus; it was a maze here. Winding walkways bordered by trees and buildings and nothing really in a straight line till you reached the plaza… and then it went back to the buildings and trees where the classes were. I wonder if the bookstore is empty? She thought as she skirted the pathways and slunk along towards that edge of campus.

2: Emerston University Bookstore

Quote:
- You have decided to scavenge in the Emerston University Bookstore. It's mostly been picked clean, at least the shelves have, but the floor is littered with debris. There might still be something useful here, right?
- Please roll a 3d6 and match your results to the rolls below to determine what you find.
1: You find a backpack. It's big, and fairly intact. Cool.
2: Markers and Paper bound. There should be enough plain paper to start a (very ashy) fire, at least.
3: You find a couple of batteries on the floor. Double-A ones too. You perform the Bounce Test, and there's a chance that they'll work! (+1 credit)

4: You dig under a stack of fallen english textbooks, and find a small pack of candy that survived.
5: Somehow, you manage to find an MP3 player on the ground? I wonder if you could find a charging station for it...
6: You dig, and dig, and dig, and end up with nothing but paper cuts.

She reached the bookstore with minimal amounts of scares: avoiding the shady patches in the small tree grooves and doorways where something could jump out at her meant her path was longer than it had to be, but she had time. It was only midday and she had till dusk to get back. Anya looked around and didn’t spy anyone or anything…. Safe. She crossed the deserted street and opened the door to the bookstore. The glass on the windows was mostly broken leaving shards scattered about on the floor she would need to avoid. She spotted one larger shard it looked like it could be a weapon… especially considering the dried blood on it: she shivered and move in, not picking it up. Blood could carry infections and she wasn’t going to risk it!

The building was silent, dust motes drifting about in the sunbeams coming through the shattered windows. She could see the shelves were empty; it was to be expected! But perhaps they hadn’t looked everywhere…. She looked behind the shelves, looking for fallen goods or perhaps things people hid to make sure there was stuff for later. Nothing there… except some paper. She shrugged and put them in the bag: papers were useful for fires!

After inspecting the cashiers and finding them all broken into and nothing in the counters up front (figures people would go for money!) Anya took a deep breath and moved further into shop, towards the back where the lights flickered on and off and made her nervous about things that might lurk in the shadows.

Come on girl, she thought to herself, can’t leave now! There’s no sound… nothings there… Despite her thoughts, she crept back and held her flashlight like a club. She didn’t turn it on yet, wanting to conserve the batteries. The far back area was also mostly empty… except there was one door that led to an office… and office with no lights on. She took a deep breath and crept over there, listened at the door for a bit before turning the flashlight on and quickly opening the door. Her heart beat sped up and she flashed her light into every corner of that room… nothing. Taking a shaking breath she relaxed slightly and inched inside. It was ransacked as well, much to her disappointment. She opened the desk drawers just to make sure and smiled when she saw a flashlight inside. It was broken, the front all smashed up. But when she opened the end and pulled the batteries out, they felt like there was some juice still in them. Those went into her pocket: they may come in handy one day!

She turned her flashlight off and did a quick scan of the outside room: still no sounds, still no signs of danger. On her way out she grabbed a few markers that had fallen onto the ground, more fire starters! Once outside she took a deep breath and moved deeper into the campus: heading towards a lecture hall. A few batteries and paper was not enough to call it a day. She would need to find some more before she returned! The day was nice outside, not too cold yet and no signs of blood, no sounds of infected, and no screams. All in all it wasn’t that bad of a day for once! Maybe I should leave the dorms more often, she thought, get out and stop hiding.

The whole infected thing was really bad… but hiding wasn’t really doing her nerves any good. Perhaps I’ll get braver if I start acting more, and maybe I’ll survive this next week! I just need to live for one week then help will arrive… just one week…. She pushed aside those thoughts and focused on avoiding shadows and doorways once more. Don’t get distracted, need to stay focused and survive, need to not think negative….

A First Floor Lecture Hall
Quote:
- You have decided to scavenge in a first floor lecture hall. Any one of them. They are mostly barren, save for dust and abandoned backpacks.
- Please roll a 3d6 and match your results to the rolls below to determine what you find.
1: You flip through someone's notes, and find a recipe for a no-cook meal. Interesting.
2: You trip over something. The Projector in the room screeches to sudden life, sputtering and flashing for a moment before all does still. You find nothing, but you lose a couple of nerves in the process.
3: You find a backpack. You dig through it, and manage to find a half-full (or half empty?) bottle of water.
4: You find a couple sweaters. You may either keep them (IC find only), or bring them back to base to share.
5: Something shiny catches your eye - it looks like someone dropped a toonie. Score?
6: You rifle through an abandoned purse, and discover a few cereal bars. They haven't expired yet! (+1 credit)

Those thoughts carried her to the physics building with its huge lecture hall of doom and many small offices. She eyed the upper stories: no, better to not risk going through the offices, too many things could be lurking in the darkened rooms. Best to just stay in the first floor, she thought as she peeked into the large auditorium. Keep safe for now. Maybe if I had some friends I’d risk going up… She smiled sadly; friends: a luxury in this time. People you could trust… she hadn’t found them yet. All those she trusted where to here…
No negative thoughts! Think positive! She shook her head and moved inside, going down to the center of the big room. The edges she knew would be empty: everyone searched there because it was safer. Out here in the center? You could be seen by infected of the undying, or others. But she had to do it: let’s take a little risk for once. Be brave for once, she thought, and hope nothing goes wrong. She spotted a purse under a chair and smiled: unzipped! Lucky! She walked over, eyes scanning the rom and the shadows where things could be hiding. Bending down she unzipped it and went through the purse: lipstick, not needed. Tissues… useful so I’ll keep them. Car keys to a car I have no clue where it is, useless. And... cereal bars! She grinned, food that wasn’t expired! Those went into the bag, she had to share food and give that to the storage. She put the purse with its trash and keys into the large plastic bag as well: maybe someone would recognize it and they’d have a vehicle? If not then it was just an extra bag to carry things in. She continued down the row, finding some fallen sweaters much to her delight. One she would keep, it had a snazzy N7 symbol on it (a fellow fan!) but the other two she would give to others. Those went into the bag.

As she was leaving the row, her foot caught on the stairs and she fell flat on her face. She froze, laying completely still as the projector suddenly buzzed to life and sputtered for a few seconds before dying. Her heart was racing a mile a minute as she lay there for a brief second frozen in panic. Then she jumped to her feet and booked it out of the room. No other sound had occurred but her nerves were too frazzled to care. Get out of the room, go outside where it was easier to flee, easier to see things coming at you. She ran all the way back, dodging around the glades and taking the fastest way she could find. That was enough excitement for today. Nothing bad had happened but her nerves had had enough. Time to stay inside again; was the thought she had as she handed the bag and flashlight back.
