Minis account name: GhoulsMinis

Gender: Male ♂

Employment: Student

Faction: District 1 - University

Character description: Scott Winfield-Kimura is, quite frankly, the epitome of sarcasm and non-chalance. Having grown up in a wealthy home where not only was he provided with everything a growing boy needed, but also everything he wanted; Scott has rarely known the turmoil that life can occasionally thrust toward the more unfortunate. He is spoiled, and he is arrogant. Unable to connect with his peers, he tends to see himself as being "above" everything and everyone around him. Nothing is ever quite good enough for Scott. He has few interests, and though he does indeed have a number of friends- his popularity is one earned mostly by his good looks and wealth. Effort is something he rarely puts forth- in his schooling, his relationships, and even his every day life. He's attending university only to please his mother, of which he has quite a close relationship with. Currently, his major is psychology- though he's constantly considering a change. If one were to dig a little deeper, they may be able to unearth some of Scott's innermost feelings- the aching loneliness brought forth by his inability to connect, the depression caused by his lack of motivation and interest in the world around him. He's a young man with an endless amount of possibilities laid out before him, but he can't quite find the energy needed to invest.

He is dark-haired and of Japanese-Canadian descent. He is tall and lithe; a build brought forth by a good metabolism and his tendency to wander for lengthy periods of time on his longboard or on foot. He has an affinity for cut-off skinny jeans and comfortably fitting tank-tops; most of his clothing has been obtained from various skate and surf labels- despite the fact that he does not surf, and he only uses his longboard to get around campus.

DAY ZERO ENTRY PROMPT:

The lights go out just as Scott's front wheels come into contact with a raised bit of sidewalk. He stumbles from his longboard, just barely able to keep himself upright and cursing when one of his flip flops rip painfully away from his foot. He'd been warned millions of times that sneakers were much more fit for longboarding, but he'd always been one to prefer his flip flops more. Swathed in darkness, Scott reaches for his phone and flicks on the flashlight feature- narrowing dark eyes as he searches the sidewalk for his missing piece of footwear. When he finds it, he frowns. The strap of it had finally worn down and torn. A sigh leaves his lips as he removes the other unbroken one and tosses them both into the trash. He had a couple other pairs in his dormroom, anyway.

As he turns back towards his longboard, a woman rushes past him. He frowns. She didn't look like she was exercising... then, another woman- her shirt torn at the collar and her feet bare. She had a panicked look in her eyes as she hurtled towards him, her long hair falling from her loosely-made bun and flying out behind her.

"Run, idiot!" She yells. "They're coming! They're coming!" When she passes him, their shoulders connect painfully, but she doesn't stop to apologize. Scott frowns, rubbing the place where their bones had cracked together and squinting into the darkness from which she had emerged. He'd never had the best eyesight, and so it took him a few minutes to adjust... but, then, he saw them. A mass of people moving towards him; all in various states of disarray as they ran, clumsily, in his direction. One man towards the edge of the pack stumbled and fell; he began screaming as another of the crowd launched onto him- blood bubbling and frothing from their mouth as they tore at him. Almost immediately, adrenaline flooded through Scott's veins. Abandoning his longboard he turned and he ran. He'd heard the rumors, after all. About the unexplained virus that turned people into lunatics. He hadn't thought them real... until now.

His long legs carry him quite easily through the chaotic crowd- he dodges the ones that were obviously contaminated, and shoves his way forward. As he makes his way across campus, the world around him seems to get worse and worse. By the time he makes it to the dorms, it's in absolute chaos. Students screaming as they're overcome by the infected, fires spewing from the windows of buildings and catching onto the greenery of the courtyard. Scott's lungs ached in his chest, but still he refused to stop running. He made it to his dormitory and burst through the entrance, thankful that his own room was located on the first floor as he shoved himself inside and locked the door behind him. His chest felt tight, his eyes darting around the room for something he could use to protect himself... when he noticed the window, already shattered, he gasped and thrust himself forward- wasting no time in shoving his wardrobe forward in order to cover the opening. Perhaps he could hide here... help, after all, would surely come... wouldn't it?
