Australia was once known for being one of the most dangerous places on Earth--coated in the most vicious and deadly predators known to mankind. However, over the centuries since this was the normal state of the continent, things have done a lot of changing. As the population of the world slowly grew, many people came to the outback in order to settle in a less populated area. However, as more and more people did this, the cities began to grow and grow, and as the city's populations began to spike, the dangerous creatures, once brave enough to enter, began to shrink back toward the deserted areas of the central continent. Sydney was the largest of these cities by far, and as it grew larger and larger, the people began to create countermeasures for the creatures within the area. Walls were built along the coastline so that the first eight hundred meters of the coast would be untouched by the creatures of the sea, and around the land edge of the city, large walls were created as well. These walls were completely charged with the alien energy that came with the Ark, and when touched from the outside by anything without human DNA, a horrible electric shock would be administered.
These defenses created a massive, peaceful city without worry from wildlife or other intruders, and it grew into one of the most culturally sophisticated cities on the planet. Even after the wars, it seems like an extremely peaceful place to be, and a lot of the wealthy people of the world have decided to make it their home, due to the nature of the place, and the status that it brings along with it. Even though the outback is one of the most dangerous places on the planet, the city itself sits as a monument to the strength of the men who built it. There isn't a single inhabited city aside from Sydney in Australia, as they have all fallen to the A.I. Cores. There are pockets of stragglers wandering the wastes of the outback here and there, but they seldom last long, due to the animals of the outback and the massive population of A.I. Cores. The difference here, and something the B.A.I.T.R organization is attempting to figure out, is how they survive in the outback. It is a land devoid of electronics or any sort of power, and yet they thrive there without the need to make an electronic host. The A.I. Cores had to have gotten there somehow, before they constructed their physical forms, though they maintain their forms almost permanently, seeming to enjoy the life as a physical being more than the life as code.
