Serotia was feeling restless, for the umpteenth time in her life. She didn't know why it bothered her anymore; it had long since become a part of her. How long had it been now since the pathway connecting the hidden homeland of the Imps and their mini winged brethren had opened up in that freak rock slide, introducing them to the lands beyond of the Kawani and more Soquili and Usdia species than anyone had ever before imagined? Serotia had been keen to explore the vastness of the new world, and she had set out with high hopes. But always, inevitably, she had ended up..
Well, bored, frankly. A true Imp, Serotia had always had a love of mischief, of jokes and pranks and above all else
interaction. She had thrilled to meet new Soquili and Usdia, mess with them as she saw fit, have some laughs and then go from there. But it seemed that luck just hadn't been on her side these days; meetings had been few and far between, and those she'd encountered had lacked a proper sense of humor. Really, what was it about these lands that made everyone so
dour, Serotia had wondered after being forced to beat a hasty retreat away from her last encounter. All she'd done was snap some sparks behind a sleeping Soquili, the next thing she knew she was being chased with intent that seemed downright murderous!
As she picked her way along the bank of the rushing river, Serotia was once again caught up in her own musings. Maybe the Kawani lands, for all their variety and potential, just weren't meant for her. Maybe she was meant to be in a smaller world, one where she knew all the rules and expectations, and where there were others who understood her. After all, was it really too much to want to be happy in life?
She was contemplating this weighty thought, not for the first time and definitely not for the last time, when she caught sight of the multi-winged mare, standing alone and motionless near the top of the falls. At once, Serotia's mischievous sense was triggered as she considered the potential of the scene; a well placed spark, and she was sure she could get the other mare to leap higher than a bird's flight! But while she was mischievous, Serotia was not mean, and even she knew the potential for danger in the other mare's proximity to the cliff. So she kept her sparks to herself, instead deftly kicking a rock in the direction of the other mare, sending it with a sharp CRACK against a nearby boulder. With any hope, she'd get the jump reaction she was hoping for, but AWAY from the cliff's edge rather than towards it!
