Unlike some of his fellow senshi Athene personally had no real patrol route and tended to quite often letting his feet dictate the direction in which to head for on the days when he patrolled alone.

He wasn't alone tonight however, his patrol partner that of a small and slightly fluffy tabby bobcat, who had grumpily informed him in no uncertain terms that he was tagging along.

They had ended up in the park, Athene sipping from time from the cup of take out coffee that he had picked up as Arian prior to henshining up as Liryn padded quietly beside him.

Although from the silence emanating from the small mauvian, Liryn was still pretty unhappy with him.

Unhappy as it happened was a pretty good assessment of Liryn's mood - after all what was a mauvian to do when his senshi kept up and getting themselves in trouble and without taking him along so that he could help out.

There had been that event on Maia with both Athene and Ida, an event where neither of them had thought to take him along and where both of them had gotten hurt, then more recently there had been that thing with the subway station and a youma train, which Athene had come back from as Arian and exhausted.

He could have helped - would have helped, or at least he would have if he'd known about it...

And that was the whole problem - because he hadn't known about it - and because he hadn't known, he hadn't been able to help.

Liryn paused at the sound the voice, his huffy mood momentarily forgotten as purplish eyes glanced back and over in the direction where it had come from until he spotted a green-clad figure.

There was a familiarity about the man that Liryn couldn't quite put a paw on and he gazed at him in curiosity as he tried to recall why.

It was only after Athene greeted the other that Liryn finally recalled where he remembered him from "You were at the park" he said "A corrupt senshi was attacking you" he'd intervened and had bitten her or was it scratched - either way it had managed to stop her.

Athene had been in the process of walking across the cobbled paving surrounding a fountain, when he heard a nearby-sounding voice call out a greeting.

His footsteps had slowed to a stop as he turned to look in the direction that he thought that he'd heard the voice come from, the take-out cup cradled in his hand.

His lips had quirked up in a small but friendly smile as he spotted the Jupiter Knight and he had returned the other's hail with a quiet "Good Evening Valhalla, it's been a while."

In fact to be honest it hadn't really been that long since he had last crossed paths with the Jupiter Knight - it was more like a month or so give or take with Valhalla being one of the ones that like him and Ida had gone to help Maia.

Given Liryn's touchiness around the whole Maia subject right now however, Athene thought it best to try and avoid bringing it up around the small tabby bobtail mauvian - at least for the moment.

Although talking about Liryn... "By the way have you met Liryn?" He indicated the small mauvian next to him as he spoke.

Athene nodded "Well in that case, this is Liryn - he's part of the PSSG with Ida, Tsui, Chaonis and myself" he glanced at Liryn "And Liryn this is Valhalla - he's a part of the Jovians and you may have seen him at the Black Watch founding meeting last year." His quiet voice turned slightly rueful "We first met back when I was still relatively new to being a senshi - he helped me out with a crazy horse youma."

He continued quietly "And I'm doing okay" and then at Liryn's rather pointed look admitted "Well I'm doing better, although I got caught up in some sort of Negaverse thing at the subway station not so long ago." He'd ended up taking a bit of a pounding from a youmafied train, but Maia had helped him leave and after a couple of days rest he'd stopped feeling like one huge bruise.

It had felt like forever before he managed to finally get all the youma stench from his hair, even with him running through his shampoo supply but he had finally managed it eventually.

"How about you? Is everything okay with you?"

"It's nice to meet you Valhalla" Liryn said cheerfully as Athene made the introductions. "Tsui's mentioned the Jovians occasionally."

For a moment he couldn't help but feel a little sad because it had been a while since he'd seen the Tiger of their team - what with her spending so much time on her homeworld these days - but then Liryn pushed the slight sadness of the thought to the back of his mind as he continued "And you don't need to thank me." Because as it happened he would have helped out anyone in the same boat in the same way - in exactly the same way if he was being honest "But you're welcome anyway."

He hadn't bothered with sniffing Valhalla's offered fingers, instead padding over and giving the Knight's outstretch hand a gentle headbutt, which would hopefully double as a hint that he was very much open to being scritched or petted.

At Athene's comment at being 'okay' he had turned his head for long enough to give the dark-haired eternal a long look, in part because in part because there were times when Athene could be as bad as Ida and in part because he was still annoyed about the fact that Athene hadn't taken him along with him, particularly as he and Ida had also left him out of the whole thing on Maia.

Valhalla had hesitated for long enough that Athene had started to wonder whether he had inadvertently ended up asking something touchy.

As the silence had stretched he had found himself tugging on his braid in absent but awkward movements as he debated on whether he should push or whether he should apologise and tell the Jupiter Knight that he didn't have to answer.

Valhalla had started speaking before he could come to any concrete decision, the question kind of out of the blue, although it was quickly clarified.

"I'm sorry" he said quietly and then inwardly winced because the words came out a lot more awkwardly than he'd wanted. He hesitated himself for a moment before continuing "I'm sorry that it happened, but I'm glad that the General Queen didn't manage it and that you're still you" because whilst Athene didn't really know much about the mechanics about corruption, he knew enough to know that it changed people.

"And no I don't know anything about how to fix a broken starseed, but maybe a Royal might" because they were able to purify people. He glanced down towards Liryn as he was speaking. "How about you?"

Liryn purred after Valhalla took the hint for what it was and started to pet his coat, but his ears had pricked up as the Knight talked about his near-miss from corruption.

"No I don't" and there was no hint of the earlier purr in his voice when he spoke, the words directed as much to Valhalla as it was to Athene "Athene may be right about a Royal perhaps knowing, but we can ask around if that would help?"

Because whilst he hadn't asked Athene directly he was pretty sure that the dark-haired eternal would be happy to help.

He left the offer as a question.

"That scratches one name off my list" Athene said with a rueful note in his quiet voice at Valhalla's admission that he had already tried speaking to Camelot. "But I'll try asking Polaris next time I cross paths with her."

And there was perhaps Iris too, for all that he didn't really know her that well - however he did have a coin with a cut out star that Iris had said he could trade for a favour for his part in helping her against her clone during the whole thing with all the weird clones and whilst Athene had no plans to trade the coin in for anything on his own behalf, he would be willing to do so if it could help Valhalla.

He looked over at Valhalla at the other's words "I don't mind asking" his lips quirked up in a rueful smile to match the tone of his quiet voice "I mean I can't promise that I'll turn up anything useful but I can certainly ask around."

Technically Athene guessed it would fall under the agreement that he had made with Pasiphae to help out the Jovians, although to be honest it was an offer he would have made anyway.

He shook his head at Valhalla's apology, absently tugging at the end of his braid as he said quietly "You don't need to apologise either."

Liryn had let his purplish eyes fall closed as Valhalla had continued to keep speaking, content enough to stay where he was - at least he was for as long as the Jupiter Knight was willing to keep petting him.

He'd been listening as first Valhalla and then Athene spoke, waiting for the dark-haired eternal had finished speaking before letting his purplish eyes slit open.

"I'll help too" he said cheerfully but firmly. "I can ask around people too and I can ask around the cats I know to see if any of them know anything" he paused thoughtfully for a moment, before adding "But I guess I'll have to pass on anything via Athene" because he hadn't come across a way of being able to call a Knight.

He fell silent at Athene's comment about the other not having to apologise, although he wholeheartedly agreed with the dark-haired eternal.

"I'd like that" Athene agreed quietly, with another of his small smiles because a longer catch up would be nice. A rueful note slipped into his quiet voice "It seems that most of our meetings tend to be in the middle of fights so it would be nice to have one that's quiet like tonight has been." Albeit one that was in better circumstances.

He nodded at Valhalla's mention of contacting him via Ganymede should he need anything as he said "Thank you and the same goes for you,"

It was growing late however and so he knew that for now he should probably be making a move and so he nodded and gave a small wave to Valhalla "Have a good evening and a safe trip home yourself Valhalla," he paused for a few moments before adding quietly "By the way my name is Arian Laith when I'm not like this and Ganymede has my contact details - both sets of them - or you can find me at DCU if you ever need me that way."

Purplish eyes had slowly opened at cessation of the petting as Liryn stretched in one long stretch before lazily getting to his feet.

"Yes I'd like to catch up some time too" he agreed, adding "I have a communicator of my own now so your Ganymede can get hold of me directly via it if she prefers rather than having to go through Athene."

Liryn was pretty happy at having his own way to send and receive calls and it showed in his cheerful voice as he winked at the Knight, although it didn't occur to him that perhaps Ganymede would need his number first before she could call him.

He gave another stretch before padding over to where Athene was standing "But for now as Athene said have a good evening and stay safe."
