Whether the events that had taken place at the subway were 'awesome' or not was something that was perhaps up for debate, although Athene was definitely firmly on the not awesome side.

He had had to shower for hours to get all the youma gunk and unmentionables that he had still tried his best to avoid looking too closely at and he still had bruises from the pummelling that he had taken from the pieces of youma bits and bile that the psycho train had sicced on all those unfortunate to be caught out on the platform.

Athene hadn't actually hadn't planned to be out on patrol for too long when he had slipped out for the evening, but then he had run across a youma - well more like he had picked up on the youma's aura and had ended up going out a little further than planned in order to track it down.

He had been in the process of backtracking when he'd picked up on a second aura - another dark and chaotic one, but with the feel of a Lieutenant.

It had taken a little bit, but in the end he had managed to track down the source.

It had also turned out that it was a lieutenant and a rather familiar-looking one at that for all that he didn't have a name for the other.

But Athene didn't really need a name to recognise the taller male - not given the fact that the other had also been there at the fiasco that had taken place at the subway station just a few days back.

He stepped forward, pretty sure as he did that the other was aware of his presence...

Because Eternal-stength auras were kind of hard to miss.

"You know you really should get your eyes checked" Athene said his quiet voice mild, because seriously what was up with all the girl comments, especially since he'd already pointed out at the subway station that he wasn't a girl.

"And as it happens no, I don't - you're pretty much the only other aura out." Well at least chaos-wise he was, because apart from the youma that he'd dusted earlier, this Lieutenant was the only other chaotic aura that Athene had picked up on.

His eyes took in the figure, lying slumped by the Lieutenant, his eyes narrowing slightly. It could have been simply tiredness, but Athene remembered how this particular lieutenant had been involved with all the chaos - pun very much not intended - at the subway and the way how his pocket had been clinking when their paths had crossed.

"I think it best if you leave" he said. "Unless you've taken any starseeds - if so then please hand them over before going."

The Lieutenant squinted at him for a long few moments after his comment, although Athene didn't think he'd said anything that was particularly out of the ordinary.

After all the Lieutenant - whoever he was - was the only chaotic aura he could sense currently. Just as Athene had the feeling that he was the only order aura given that he wasn't picking up on any close by.

And he was being serious about it being best that the Lieutenant moved on, because whilst he didn't particularly like fighting, that wasn't to say that he wouldn't.

What he hadn't been expecting was for the Lieutenant to respond to what, to his mind, had been a politely worded request by up and shoving a starseed - which presumably belonged to the slumped figure by his feet - in his mouth.

He took a few steps forward in response and then froze, because whilst the Lieutenant had stuck the starseed in his mouth he hadn't yet bitten down...

Well at least Athene was very much hoping that the other hadn't - because that meant that there was still a chance that he could perhaps help the unknown slumped figure.

He wasn't sure how though given that if he made a move then it might prompt the Lieutenant to decide to go ahead and bite down and even with eternal speed on his side Athene wasn't sure that he'd be able to cross the distance between them - small as it was - in time to stop him.

Stalemate.

Athene couldn't help but wonder for a moment if the Lieutenant had a hearing problem to go with his eyesight problem given that his 'choice 2' seemed to pretty much repeat his polite request from earlier.

He knew better than to mention it however, since he had a feeling that the Lieutenant was perfectly serious in his threat.

Instead he said simply "Okay. Fine" adding "If you hand over the starseed and then leave then I won't try stop you and I won't try to follow you."

His quiet voice was solemn as he added "You have my promise, although it's only good for tonight and only if you really do hand over the starseed whole and unbroken."

It was an easy enough promised to make given that it was pretty much what he'd asked the Lieutenant to do in the first place.

Athene's gaze was as solemn as his voice had been as he watched the Lieutenant from beneath the lens of his glasses.

There were some who would say that he was being stupid - that he was being a fool. Because when all was said and done, Athene had no reason to trust that the Lieutenant would keep his word and whilst he always tried kept his promises to the best of his ability, he knew that there was nothing to say that the Nega-Lieutenant had to or would do the same.

Even so he had to try.

And so he watched, waited as the Lieutenant spat out the star seed and held it up, was unable to hide the sigh of relief as it appeared to be unbroken.

He waited, waited as the Lieutenant set it down.

It was only as the other jumped back that he moved, running forward to scoop up the star seed even as the other started off in his own run.

He didn't follow - he'd given his word and besides he had more pressing matters - like trying to save the downed civilian's life.

Making his way over, Athene dropped down next to the slumped civilian and pressed the star seed against the unconscious man's chest and as the Lieutenant's aura got further and further away he settled in to wait, hoping all the while that he was in time to save the unknown civilian's life.
