With Cor Caroli temporarily indisposed yet again, Glitnir was left wandering the streets alone. Recent events had been less than pleasant for either of them, what with the whole youma-train-youma-guts thing and, in Cor Caroli's case, nearly getting de-souled in front of a whole platform of people. Originally Glitnir had tried to pull Cor Caroli out of his stupor, but after a while he gave up and let him sit and heal.

Honestly, patrolling alone got kind of boring and lonely on nights when not much was going on. Feeling a bit down and tired, Glitnir parked himself on a bench outside of some business building. Maybe he should just give up and call it a night. His heart just wasn't in it.

Curiously, he could feel a Super Senshi aura flickering in the distance. Most likely, the senshi could feel him too. It would be nice to have a chat partner tonight, but he didn't feel much like seeking him or her out. If he or she didn't come, he'd just go home.

Harmonia had a heck of a time sneaking out of the house that night. Her parents had been furious at her for getting home so late the day of the youma train and had actually grounded her. That was something that she'd never experience before. Not in the sense of a grounding anyway. Sure, she'd been unable to really leave the house cause she was hurt, but to be outright grounded was new and not something she was enjoying one bit for multiple reasons.

Finally though her parents had stopped their incessant checking on her and went to bed for the night. She waited about a half an hour before taking the chance to sneak out. All the while she mused how much easier this all might be if she just told her parents everything. But, then again, it may make it even harder depending on their reactions.

None-the-less she was finally out and on patrol and as usual, alone. She truthfully wasn't feeling comfortable on patrols as much anymore, not since her conversation with Camelot and Merlinite. Things had turned so much darker for her in her mind after finding out how dangerous the Negaverse could be to a lone senshi, but she didn't have much choice in the matter. She didn't have a regular patrol partner.

As she hopped from one building to another she felt the aura of a squire. He or she seemed stationed in one spot and quite alone. Harmonia didn't really waste anytime in thinking over if she wanted to meet up with the squire, she wanted some sort of companionship tonight and hopefully it wouldn't be someone who would turn her away. Not that she had experienced that yet, but there was always the chance, right?

It didn't take long for the Super Senshi to make her way to the squire and when she found him she looked a bit curiously at him as he sat almost nonchalantly on the bench in front of the business. He certainly didn't look like he was up to very much. "Um, hello. Mind if I join you? I don't really want to be alone tonight."

The senshi approached, and Glitnir greeted her with a tired smile. "I don't mind at all. Have a seat," he said, scooting over a bit to give her more room. "I can definitely understand not wanting to be alone tonight. It's been really dangerous lately. My usual patrol partner had kind of a rough time a little while back, so he's taking time out for himself." He paused and then added, "Did you hear about the incident with the train where it turned into a monster? We got kind of caught up in the thick of that." The more he thought about it, the more Glitnir thought he got off easy. All he dealt with was a persistent stench and earning the ire of a certain senshi his magic had misfired on (he still felt horrible about that). He endured pretty much no major risks, while everyone else in the little squad that had been there had at least gotten trapped in a tough decision, if not an actual life-threatening situation.

"I hope your partner is alright." She said as she plopped herself down in the space made vacant for her on the bench.

"Wait were you..." She pointed at him as she gave him another critical look over. He looked somewhat familiar but if he was involved with the train that would explain why. Truthfully, with everything that had happened that day most was nothing but a blur. "Yea I was there. I don't know if I will ever forget what it was like to be inside a youma like that." A chill ran up her body as she remembered the digestive juices and getting completely covered in gore and youma bits. Not to mention all of those poor people who had their star seeds stolen from them. Harmonia had to resist the impulse to wrap her arms around herself at that thought.

"That whole thing was a complete mess." She sighed and leaned back against the bench seat. "I just don't get this war we're in." She mumbled to herself as she looked looked up at the sky. Unfortunately, the city lights made it near impossible to see the stars from the ground.

"I am Harmonia by the way." She turned her attention back to the page. "Senshi of Harmony."

"He'll be okay. He needs some time to recover. He's been through a lot." Harmonia's reaction to Glitnir's mention nearly made him face-fault. "You were there too? Man... a mess is one way to put it." The girl had to still be in high school. She couldn't have been ready for the train to turn into a heap of guts, Super Senshi or no.

"I'm Glitnir, Squire of Mars." Harmonia, Senshi of Harmony... easy enough to remember, for sure. "There's a lot to not get about this war, but if you feel like you don't get anything, it just becomes that much more overwhelming. It's best if you narrow down and single out the things you get the least, and try to seek answers to them." He paused, and his gaze tilted skyward for a moment. "A while back, I wanted to see what drove people to kill in this war. It seemed like there were lots of perspectives on it. Some people would never do it, some would do it with no hesitation, and there were lots of people in between. I think, in those kinds of situations, you ought to think about the capacity for redemption before making a snap judgment."

Harmonia nodded. She could understand needing to take a break. Heck, she was wondering if she should take one. But every time that crossed her mind she felt guilty. There were others doing so much more and going through things much more tragic than she had and they were still powering up and doing what they felt needed to be done.

Glitnir huh...reminds me of glitter. That made her smile but she didn't much think that Glitnir would appreciate the association so she kept that thought to herself. The conversation though was turning to something she wasn't sure she wanted to really talk about yet but at the same time, she needed to.

"I...I feel like there's so much I want to know about it that there's no easy way to narrow things down." She said softly.

When Glitnir mentioned killing though her head snapped towards him. "Oh...I don't think I could ever...Just the thought of it makes me sick." It was true. Just the idea of taking someone's life made her stomach churn with anxiety and despair. War or no, Harmonia didn't think she could ever take someone elses life.

"Just pick one thing and go with it. Focus on one thing at a time. Even if it's not the most important thing, if you chip away at your list bit by bit, it'll be better than just sitting around overwhelmed." Harmonia's abrupt reaction to Glitnir's mention of killing made him immediately regret bringing it up. He remembered Hyperborea when he first saw her and how disturbed she had seemed at the mention of fellow Knights trying to kill each other. Unfortunately, he couldn't quite take back what he said. "You don't have to, and you shouldn't have to. It's very possible to take a more supportive role in the war and do just as much. I'm trying to teach people what I know and let them learn and make their own choices, for example." He managed to hold his tongue on the thought that there would be plenty of people able to kill to make up for Harmonia's refusal to do so.

Pick one thing? Easier said than done. Everything was just linked to something else and made it feel impossible to segregate it into a single question. She paused for a moment to try and organize herself. This would be a great opportunity to talk to someone else about their take on this war. Maybe, that was a good place to start?

Glitnir though continued on about the more darker side of the war and that helped to pinpoint her question. "I just. Doesn't anyone worry or think about the fact that they could be killing someone who had no choice in being part of the negaverse? I mean, there are people out there being forced to corrupt...I just..." She took a deep breath to keep herself from getting too emotional. "I can't understand going to such extremes, I guess. I mean, I get that they have probably killed us too...but...Oh, I don't know." She couldn't quite put to words what she meant and it frustrated her a bit.

"That's something a lot of people are concerned about. I remember talking to another Mars Knight who used to be part of the Negaverse... he said it was kind of like a huge dysfunctional family. They browbeat people into staying and do all kinds of things to keep officers in check. Some of them don't think they have a choice, but it's up to us to let them know that they do, and we'll be there for them if they purify." Glitnir's talk with Kairatos was certainly a formative event in his early Knight career, and the more he looked back on it, the more he thought it set the stage for the rest of his career.

"Unfortunately, there's some people... if they think about killing people who aren't actually enjoying their job, they don't seem to care. There's some who do and they tend to talk first, but there's some who don't." The following namedrop seemed kind of inevitable. "That Mars Knight, he told me about this Prince named Castor... brutally murdered a bunch of Lieutenants in a warehouse and used it to claim he was declaring war. I've never had the displeasure of encountering him in person, but I know someone who has." He knew Megrez regretted her affiliation with Castor now, but Kairatos's initial namedrop of her was less than flattering.

Harmonia sighed and folded her hands in her lap, her thumbs gently rubbing back and forth in an anxious sort of movement. "That makes it even worse to think about fighting them though. It just...feels wrong? To think that people are being forced to do something that they may not normally do. And then you have senshi and knights being forcefully corrupted. It all seems like too much." She glanced up from her hands to the Squire.

"That's really horrible. I don't understand that need. This whole war almost seems senseless. It seems like an excuse for people to beat one another up and commit murder while being able to brush it off as 'Well, it's war.'" A stray breeze brushed a lock of hair in front of her face which was enough to force her to release her clasped hand to brush it back and away behind an ear.

"What is the point of this war?" She mumbled. She hadn't ever really been given much of a clear cut answer to that question. Sure Faust had given her a quick run down when she was originally awakening but that had been so glossed over and her mind then was anywhere but focusing on the 'why' of her needing powers.

Glitnir nodded, listening to Harmonia's thoughts. "There's a good point in all this. It feels like lots of us have lost sight of what exactly we're doing in this war. I think... it's something like this. I think the Negaverse has something under their control that, if it gets strong enough, could spell disaster for all of us. And even if we can't strike directly at that thing, the least we can do is protect people from whatever the Negaverse does." He paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to fill the potential gaps. "Take the train incident, for example. That was the Negaverse trying to accomplish its goals. We tried our best to save who we could, but unfortunately, that meant fighting when officers got in our way. Does that help?"

"A little..." she paused for a moment to gather her jumbled thoughts. It was amazing how quickly the mind could jump from one thing to another and back again and try to piece it all together in the process. It was starting to give her a mild headache as a result. "I definitely don't want people to get hurt. Protecting my parents is one of the big reasons I still power up every night despite being unsure about myself right now. I just...I dunno. I feel like there has to be more to it than that."

She shifted slightly in her seat. "I may be trying to make this all more complicated than it really is."

There was still a part of her though that felt like there -was- more to it. After all, there was definitely another side to this story and it wasn't one she had heard yet, even from Merlinite. Truth be told though, the half youma, in her mind, was very much White Moon situated and not part of the negaverse despite his chaotic aura.

"Why would the Negaverse want to unleash something that could be bad. Wouldn't that be bad for them as well in the end?" She stopped to think about that question as it left her mouth and scrunched her nose up as she thought of the answer. "Well...I guess if it's chaos oriented they'd benefit from it."

"Sometimes I think that, even if every single person who was ever in this war pooled their thoughts together, we still wouldn't have a complete picture of it. Something about this must go back so far that it's been lost in translation over years and years. My ancestor on my Wonder is from a really long time ago, and senshi are reincarnated... I wonder if the real root of the war lies at whatever caused that reincarnation." Those sorts of things were always frustrating to Glitnir; the more mystical aspects of the powered world (including the Code) tended to be just ever so slightly outside of his reach. "They must think they have that thing under control, and they can use it to do whatever they want when it's powerful enough. Who knows what it really does?"

Kolina

Harmonia nodded as she listened. It really was an overwhemling thing to think of and try to piece together. Again though, it seems to come back to her thoughts of why they all seemed to be fighting a war that was older than any of them? It seemed silly when she thought of it that way.

With her mind reeling and Harmonia felt the urge to try and change the conversation away from such a heavy topic, if only for a breather to recoup her thoughts. "Sorry that we just met and I am throwing such heavy things at you." She smiled shyly. "It's not the best of way to get to know new allies." She laughed a bit at herself.

"The way you talk though it sounds like you've been awakened for awhile now." She raised an eyebrow at him questioningly.

"It's fine," Glitnir said, lightly clapping a hand on Harmonia's shoulder. "I don't think it's a bad way to get to know your allies at all. Collecting perspectives is important. We have a heavy destiny on our heads, and there's no running away from it completely. There's some people who couldn't even if they wanted to." He released her shoulder and added, "I've been awakened for... coming up on a year now, I think. Became a Squire back in January or February, been trying to sort myself out ever since then. I've been lucky to meet lots of people who are well-informed, so I've kind of collected their information and I'm trying to spread it around."
