Oh, it hurt.

As the storm raged outside, the wind throwing rain droplets roughly against the window of her small apartment, Sailor Duhr stumbled towards her couch. Soaked and in more pain than when Pa's mule had kicked her in the side, she struggled to take a seat, clutching to the arm of the furniture. The fabric was already growing wet from all the rain and water transferring from the bows and lace of her fuku, but Mags would deal with that later. She needed to get some help first - she needed to call for backup.

Rummaging for her cell phone from the pile of clutter on her side table, she flipped it open (yes, she had one of those phones still) and fumbled to punch in buttons to the only text contact on her list.

Her head fell back against the couch, the senshi closing her eyes and willing herself to relax, to slow down her breathing and her heart rate.

Ugh.

Her phone buzzed something fierce, and Dan paused in the middle of a math problem to frown at it. Who was bothering her and why?! Snatching up the phone, she quickly looked at the message--and felt her heart leap into her throat. Mags! Had she been fighting a bad guy without her?! It only took her a minute to dash into her bathroom, gathering up all sorts of medical supplies and stuffing them into her backpack. She and her brother always got into scrapes, so they were well-stocked.

Shouting that she was heading out to see Mags (and ignoring the fact that her mother insisted she wait until the storm had passed), Dana snatched an umbrella and dashed out into the howling winds.

The rain pelted her body and seeped into her clothes, making her shiver something fierce. None of that mattered right now--her clothes would dry! Her lungs burned from running so hard all that way, and Dana pounded fiercely at the door. "Mags!" She wheezed, trying to catch her breath. "Mags, open up! It's me!"

Cue Dana beginning to drum on the door in a series of complex patterns that she was making up on the fly. Secret codes were important in this line of work!

The pounding on the door forced her eyes open and she groaned out, "Unlooooooocked."

Locks and tidiness were the least of Sailor Duhr's concerns at the present moment, the apartment looking even slightly worse than its typical tornado-blown-through-it look. Her uniform was cast out on a nearby chair, her boots resting on the kitchen counter (She'd been chippin' mud off, okay??) and the carpet definitely looked the part of collecting everything her shoes had carried in with them.

Struggling to move forward on the couch, one hand continued to hold her side as it throbbed. The other moved to force the ever-annoying curls from her eyes. Her face was dirty, the makings of a nasty bruise forming on her cheek from where Typhon had hit her. Gloves had been long forgotten in the alleyway, her fingers dirty from peeling and picking off the various trash particles that had stuck to her during his attack. Pieces still clung to her hair and on her dress, her arms and legs covered in cuts from several sharp edges that had flown by her.

"Ah'm here, Dan. In here."

Unlocked? Ooooh, Mags should know better! Dana fully intended to chew her out, using her shoulder to ram the thing open. It didn't exactly work since she didn't twist the knob in time, and she muffled a squeak of pain. Calmly, primly, she pushed the door open and then slammed it behind her to relieve some of her bad temper. Her shoes were soaked, and she kicked them off with a grumble before nearly tripping over them in her haste to reach the older girl's side.

Mags looked... bad.

Dan didn't hesitate, pulling her backpack off her shoulders and tearing into it. Some antiseptic wipes were the first step, and she carefully began to dab at the cuts that she could see. The trash was impatiently plucked off and thrown to the side, and the sight of the bruise marring her cheek was enough to make the younger girl growl. Surprisingly though, she didn't seem to have much to say.

The cuts were then covered with bandages, and Dan wasn't exactly sure what to do about that bruise. Ice, maybe? Hmm. Finally, the girl spoke, her tone curt and sharp.

"Did you kick their butt?"

Upon hearing the question, Mags gave a weary, wide grin.

"We whooped each other purdy good, yeah."

Once most of the outward wounds were taken care of, she slowly morphed back from her worn out, battered senshi form into plain 'ol worn and battered Margaret Butler. Thankfully, Dan's hard work did not go to waste, the bandages remaining on her scrapes and cuts. The largest bruise still lay on her side, covering her sore, bruised ribs.

She took a moment to relish in the memory of Typhon and his expression when she'd sent the tornado towards him. Duhr hadn't stayed around to see how it ended, choosing to bow out and dash off before the other senshi could collect himself.

Oh, shoot. That was right.

"Dan - Ah don't know what's going on, but the guy who attacked me..." her voice grew low and very serious, her eyes narrowing. "He was a senshi."

"WHAT?!" Dan screeched, immediately hushing herself as she snuck a shifty glance towards the windows. You know, in case anyone was spying! They weren't. But they could have been. The girl hopped to her feet, starting to pace. "You're sure? You're absolutely sure?"

What the heck would a senshi be doing attacking other senshi? Dan suddenly gasped, whipping around to snarl in Mags' general direction. "He was JEALOUS of us!" Of course! Tales of their glory must have spread! Why wouldn't a young upstart senshi try and take it from them?

"Why, that no good rotten--!" She growled, shaking her fists at the windows. Where there was still no one looking in. But they could have been!

"Listen, if we have to look out against other senshi now too... we're gonna have to be ready for anything!" They'd have to train even harder than ever... not that they'd really done much training so far, but that was besides the point.

She had known Dan would know just what to do. And she did - of course - she always did. And by the looks of her storming around and her huffin' and puffin', a brainstorm was a brewin' worse than the storm outside could ever do.

"He didn't feel right," Unlike her eloquent friend, Mags had to struggle to feel fancy with her words, "Just didn't plum feel right. Like somethin' was wrong or somethin'. Name was Typhon, he said."

And he hadn't. That sneer, the long, dark hair. The way he dropped in on her, wouldn't let her pass. Talked about his balls 'n stuff. Then again, it wasn't exactly right of her to punch him in them, but he had it comin' as far as she was concerned.

She struggled off the couch, fighting not to make a face and concern her hard-thinkin' comrade. Tylenol wasn't something she carried, but her Pa always used rum to ease the pain of a long work day and she figured that maybe the alcohol could help ease some of her own pains. Hobbling towards the kitchen, she did her best to avoid Dan's pacing.

"What kind of ready are yew talkin' about, anyways?"

Dan stopped dead at that, nearly tripping over her own feet as she whipped around to face Mags. "What do you mean he didn't feel right?" She snapped, knowing darn well what Mags meant. She folded her arms tightly over her chest, chewing on her lower lip. Just something... off about him, huh?

Yeah, she knew that feeling.

"Mags, sit down! You gotta be all sore and stuff!" She huffed, her mind still racing. "Look, it doesn't matter what kind--but we need to get better at this senshi stuff! Aaauuugh! I gotta think! I gotta DRAW!"

Plans had to be formulated! Dan yanked at her hair even as she dashed towards the door, snatching up her wet shoes and her umbrella. "Sit tight! NO MORE FIGHTS UNTIL I FIGURE THIS OUT!"

She nearly slipped in a puddle on the way out, shrieking like a banshee as her arms pinwheeled for balance.

Mags could only stare as the blue streak tore through the room and out the door. She sipped on her glass, ignoring the pain in her cheek as she kept her mouth open. A swell of pride bubbled in her at the thought of someone so determined to defeat evil - and she was her best friend.

That was her Dan!
