Using a dishrag swiped from the sink, Rob wiped the dust and sweat from his face as he crossed the kitchen to the fridge. He lobbed the rag back toward the sink, where it landed with a slight clatter atop the dirty dishes. Opening the fridge, he peered in, contemplating what to serve Aitana to drink. He didn't have but a couple of bottles of water; most everything else in the fridge was beer, along with some food items and leftover Indian takeout. Beer was good -- couldn't argue with beer to cool down after working all morning -- but it might be a bit too much. They still had work to do, after all.

The two had been busy most of the morning working on expanding the studio in the basement of Rob's house. With the addition of Sidney and her DJ and recording gear, the makeshift room was becoming a little cramped, what with Rob's musical instruments and his own recording gear and what passed for an office already in there. He of course had to show her all of the instruments he had down there before moving them or covering them up for protection, and he demonstrated his prowess with each one, including the drum kit. If there was one thing Rob enjoyed, it was showing off.

Taking out the wall that separated the studio from the laundry area had been fun. It was barely attached to anything and had practically come down in one single piece of framing and drywall. Since Rob wanted to add some additional soundproofing insulation in there too, they had torn down the drywall on the rest of the walls and removed the old soundproofing, such as it was. Demolition was fun and quick work; adding the new wall and door and soundproofing was the project for the afternoon. Aitana proved to be a hard worker who definitely knew what she was doing when it came to construction work, and Rob was glad for the help, as well as the company.

The blond man cut through the dining room and back into the living room of the small Victorian with two bottles of cider. "I hope you like this stuff," he grinned at Aitana, handing her one of the bottles. "It's hard cider. A bit lighter than beer, more refreshing. Tastes all of apples." Plopping down on the smaller of the two couches, he took a hearty drink out of his cider and sighed happily as he relaxed back into the cushions. "What do you think?"

It wasn't clear whether he was asking about the cider, the house, or himself.

Though he had mentioned her coming to visit his house sometime on the night they had met for drinks, they hadn't made any actual plans right away to follow through. It just didn't seem as important or as enticing as getting together and patrolling did (though to be fair how could it compare to magical super powers and getting to punch things?) But after hanging out together while patrolling a handful of times and the occasional friendly text back and forth the topic of her having a day off soon had come up and the invitation had been extended once again.

The day had come and Aitana had slept in just a little bit not bothering to peel herself out of bed until 7 am (which was a little later than the usual 5 or 6 that work usually forced upon her). At which point she'd devoured some leftovers from the night before and then prepared herself, excitedly, for the day.

The plan was to help him with his basement and soundproofing, so Aitana had arrived prepared, dressing for mobility and coolness sake, knowing quite well how warm it could get while working, especially if they were in a closed off basement. Nothing worse then being buried under layers while sweating to death. She'd even snagged her work belt from work and a few of her own tools to bring along in case they were needed.

The address she'd been given was easy enough to find, and she'd admired the house as he showed her around it. It was a nice place, especially for someone so young. It was no wonder that he had sounded so proud of it when he spoke of it before. She was even more impressed, delighted might have been a more accurate word, when they'd moved down to the basement and he'd taken time to show her all of his instruments, including a little demo of each one. But in the end they couldn't play all day and they'd settled into working. Not that it had seemed much like work considering the fun of demolition and the company involved. Chattering with Rob was fun, even if it was about absolutely nothing at all. Or stupid childish things like trying to teach him foreign curse words. In fact she could hardly believe the amount of time that had passed when they stopped for their first break of the day.

When he returned with their drinks Aitana was lounged lazily back on the larger of the two couches, seemingly playing with some of the drywall dust that had become stuck to her stomach via the thin sheen of sweat they'd worked up. Green eyes popping up to greet him given the fact that he was far more entertaining then dust.

"I can not complain about anything that is cool and wet right now." She joked. The cool bottle was rolled against her neck for a brief moment, the shock of cool against the warmth of her skin almost enough to make her shiver before she took a drink, seeming to savor the flavor in curiousity. And in the end she answered, an answer that applied to all of the questions, unspoken as they were. "Is amazing."

Another drink and contented sigh later, she stretched, musing thoughtfully. "House is very big and your ideas for things are very big too. Good thing you call for backup hmmm?"

Looks great to me!

And I'm sorry about her oufit, I'm the worst. XD She just has no body shame or fashion sense so it's actually IC and I couldn't resist. *terrible*

Rob watched Aitana stretch and took a drink of his cider. Her outfit left little to the imagination, not that he was complaining. He'd dressed for the closeness of working in the basement as well, a worn white tank top and long khaki cargo shorts, both of which had seen a lot of construction work around the house. His toolbelt, not as nice as hers but still functional, lay in a heap on the floor where it had fallen when he'd removed it. Frankly he liked her outfit better. On her, at least.

Reaching back, he undid the hair elastic holding his dreads out of his face and shook them out, raising a light cloud of drywall dust. "Yeah, I'm fully of big ideas, aren't I?" he grinned at her. "The basement studio, the record label, getting the band back together…" He was beginning to doubt that the last was ever going to happen, though -- he was just too busy with everything else these days. That included patrolling at night as Puck. It was amazing to him how the time flew when he was out on the prowl for youma and Negaverse agents, especially when he was out with Aitana's alter ego Juno.

He liked everything about Juno: her fuku, her athleticism, her toughness, her fighting style. He liked everything about Aitana too, for that matter.

"Very glad I called for reinforcements." He took another drink and stretched himself with a contented groan. "I probably could have done it myself, but with having to frame out a new wall it would have bloody well taken forever. And I can't have that. I've got music to make!" Though most of his music-making these days was busking, he still wrote songs and arrangements of songs in the studio.

"With your help, we should be done today. Thanks for coming over," he smiled at her.

Oh Aitana XD Rob doesn't mind her choice of outfit at all <3

Relaxing felt nice. The couch, alcohol (as light as it was), and comfortable clothing were far different from the kind of breaks she had at work. There was in fact just something nice about kind of melting in a couch without the pressing urge to just get right back out there. And Rob didn't seem in a huge hurry, so Aitana was happy to make herself comfortable for awhile before they pumped themselves up for the real task of the day.

"Is not a bad thing to have a lot of ideas." She mused thoughtfully. Ideas OR dreams. Having something to work towards was nice. It gave you a reason to wake up and push forward through some of the shittier days. And the satisfaction of actually achieving, there was very little that felt as great at that. In the mind of Aitana it wasn't possible to have too many dreams or motivators in life. "As long as you follow through with them." Which Rob seemed to have the drive to try at the very least.

"You seemed very good." She added after a moment in reference to the little demonstration he'd given her earlier. Aitana didn't really know what it took to be big in music or to make a record label, but he could consider her a cheerleader for the cause.

"Well..." Her voice hitched upwards, joined with her expression it was pretty clear she was about to tease him about something and give him a good natured ribbing, a wink accompanying it. "Who else was going to reach the very top of the walls for you?" Even though she often teased him about his height she didn't really mean anything by it. She was taller then a lot of guys, so it wasn't like it bothered her in anyway. It was just the way that 'guys' communicated with each other she'd found. If he ever seemed too upset by it she'd find something else to tease him about.

Mirroring his stretch she leaned back before continuing more seriously. "I do not have anything more fun to do today, so is no big deal. Plus I see new places and get free booze." She laughed, giving her bottle a little bit of a wiggle in his direction. "You can call any time really. As long as I am not at work is all good."

"Hell, even if I am working, if you make up good enough excuse I might call off."

With a little lopsided smile, Rob nodded his head in acknowledgement of Aitana's compliment. "Thank you. You should hear me when I really get going." His smile grew into a grin. "That was only part of it too -- like I said at the bar the other day, I'm one of those blokes who can play anything you put in me hands. Though I like guitar and drums the best. They're the most physical, like percussion. I've used me guitar as a drum before while busking." He tapped out a quick little rhythm on his lap for emphasis.

Then she teased him about his height, or lack thereof, and he pulled a mock scowl, though he couldn't keep from smiling no matter how hard he fought it. "Oi!" He knew by her wink that she was only winding him up, but he went for it anyway. "I know how to use ladders and stepstools to take down a wall! And I ain't that short," he growled. "I've seen shorter." Hell, that Dark Mirror he fought on the night he was awakened was several inches shorter than he was! He wasn't going to tease her about her height, however -- he didn't know how she'd take it, and he didn't have a death wish.

"I'm pretty good at making up excuses to skive off work," Rob grinned wickedly. "And I'm really glad you came over, seriously. Makes for short work -- no short jokes, love," he preemptively admonished with a shake of his finger at her, still grinning.

He finished off his cider and waggled the bottle at her. "You ready for another one?"

Iris_virus
Ahahaha now THAT would be hilarious XD Rob in short shorts XD
PostPosted: Wed Sep 09, 2015 11:52 am

"I will have to see in full action then. Text me next time you are doing the busking and I will try to come find you." Even though she'd hear it a few times by now the words was still said a little slowly, tentatively. It still sounded very weird to her. But then there were lots of words that sounded funny to her or when coming from her. God help them if Rob ever discovered her severe mutilation of the word gazebo.

"So irresponsible..." She mused, making a soft tsk tsk tsk noise as she drew back the bottle to finish it off. As if she was responsible or something. No really she was trying, unsuccessfully, to hide the little grin that was working it's way across her lips. The only time she ever called off lately was when she got too hurt patrolling at night. Calling off to do something fun.... well that sounded much better. "Some of us must work very hard though." She teased, feigning a look of deep woe. "Do not have jobs were we just get to play around all day like some people." Who was she kidding, at least 70% of her day she considered atleast mostly entertaining or playing around. The number of times she'd gotten yelled at by her supervisor about safety this or that a clear sign to the fact.

"Sure, I will have one more before we get back to work." She agreed, happy to linger a little longer in laziness.

His playful admonishment when he almost walked right into another short joke brought a little snort to Aitana, who leaned forward to extend her empty bottle to him. Not before teasing him a little more. "Okay no more jokes of shortness. Besides, I have been told before that size does not matter anyway. Whatever this means." The feigned look of innocence was not likely very convincing.

Rob grinned delightedly at Aitana. "I definitely will do," he nodded. Inwardly he was beyond thrilled that she wanted to hear him play. He was really proud of his skills as a musician, and doubly proud that he could make a good living off his music if it came down to it. He didn't actually need to -- his parents made plenty of money and would be more than willing to help their only child if he fell onto hard times. But life was uncertain, as he'd learned at an early age when Sidney's parents were killed in a car accident and she was sent away to America. It was best to be prepared to take care of yourself.

"I work hard!" he protested, trying to look put out by her remark that he was irresponsible. "Busking is hard work!" Sure, it was fun, but it was also work! He had to write the song arrangements for acoustic guitar and practice them til he could do them in his sleep, then go out and perform for hours at a time to people who for the most part just weren't paying attention. Hard and unrewarding to the average musician! But Rob was no average musician. "You'll see when you come out to watch me play."

Shifting on the couch, he stood and crossed the room to take the empty bottle from her. "Oi," he grinned, not falling for her feigned expression of innocence, "size doesn't matter! Good things come in small packages, you know." He then drew himself up to his full height and struck a very manly pose, feet shoulder width apart and fists balled on his hips, pushing out his chest as he gave her a wry crooked little smile. "Besides, it's not what you got, it's what you do with it that matters."

She looked at him skeptically when he insisted that his work was hard. But not really knowing, she assumed he wasn't lying to her. Even if the two were being playful and flippant with each other. Really all it did was further her desire, but as often as Rob (and his alter ego Puck) impressed her, she doubted it would be any different.

His show of manliness was enough to drag her out of her terrible acting, grin widening as she leaned back into the couch once more. "So I have seen." She agreed with a laugh. "Is no lie that you hold your own."

"I have seen far taller and bigger senshi than you get asses handed to them by youma that I am sure you could take easy." Perhaps she shouldn't have been so brazen with her words while giving the well deserved compliment. But it seemed safe enough, Aitana hadn't said it too loudly and she'd already confirmed the house was empty when he'd shown her around earlier. Which brought up another question.

"Where is your girlfriend? I'm sure she can confirm machismo." She had seen a few small signs of a female presence in the house, and vaguely recalled hearing him mention a female name once or twice.

Grinning the grin of the well-pleased, Rob's chest (and his ego) puffed out a little bit more. "Thank you. I do love kicking youma arse." It was good, really good, to have one's fighting prowess verified by someone as kick-arse as Aitana (and Juno, for that matter). Of course, fighting youma was one thing. He really hadn't been put to the test against actual Negaverse agents, save for that captain whose youma Juno had dusted. Oh, and that little pipsqueak of a Dark Mirror. But they hardly counted.

Then she mentioned a 'girlfriend' and his face flushed red and he sputtered. "Girlfriend?" He thought for a moment. He didn't have a girlfriend… "Oh, you must mean Sidney! She's not my girlfriend," he laughed, as if the thought of dating Sid was the funniest thing ever. "She's my housemate. A childhood friend from England -- we've known each other since we were little kids. Our mums were close friends." Dropping the macho act, he shook his head, dreadlocks flying. "She was in a bad situation in New York and needed a place to escape to. So I offered her up one of the spare rooms here. I take care of my friends," he shrugged.

Her eyes narrowed a little quizically when he reacted as visibly as he did to her question. The flush on his face was easy to see given his paler complexion, his sputtering and laughter. It was a strange reaction from someone who usually acted so cool. From their conversation at the bar, and his obvious general confidence, she'd just assumed that he was a bit of a lady's man. The information that he didn't have a girlfriend was unexpected but not that strange. His reaction though....

Her expression softened with his explanation. Despite being as tough as he acted (and was) he really was really really soft-hearted. Aitana in fact had to avert her eyes from him momentarily when he mentioned taking care of his friends. It was true, she hadn't forgotten his kindness on that night not long ago when she freaked out. He really was something.

Lifting herself up from the couch, her arms stretched up above her mildly before she made her way over to him, giving him a mild bump with her hip, having decided to join him in his trip to the kitchen. "You are too nice Rob. One day someone will take advantage of you." Not that she thought Sidney was going to take advantage of him or anything. They were childhood friends after all.

"Guess I will have to keep my eye on you, yes?" She smiled, her arms crossing loosely across her chest.

"Guess you will," he smiled back, returning the hip bump. He wasn't much of one for being watched over, but somehow, because it was Aitana, he didn't seem to mind. And it was true, he was a bit trusting of his friends -- his basically good nature had bitten him on the arse in the past. But in his mind, friends were as good as family, and you took care of family.

He leisurely headed off to the kitchen with Aitana in tow, once more cutting through the dining room to get to the fridge. The Brazilian was definitely counted as a friend; he would take a bullet (or a swipe of youma claws) for her, and he figured she would do the same for him, even as tough as they both were in a fight. She was unique and special to him, both as a friend and a patrolling partner. And her accent was too cute and funny.

Tossing their empty bottles in the recycling bin with a clatter, he opened the fridge and rummaged around for two more ciders. "Here we are," he announced, holding his prizes aloft. "Think I'm going to have to get more cider soon. We're almost out." He popped the tops off both bottles and handed one to Aitana, then gently tipped the bottom of his bottle so that it clinked against hers. "Cheers, love. To good times."

Iris_virus
Ahahahah epic foreshadowing indeed XD
PostPosted: Wed Sep 09, 2015 8:34 pm

He wouldn't have to worry too much about it. She wasn't like some jealous girlfriend or helicopter mom. The Brazilian had zero interest whatsoever in telling him not to do something or interfering. Rather she'd just be there in the end to swoop in and help him deal with the consequences and pick up the pieces. That was her kind of looking out.

Though it had never been brought up, because why would you bring up something so mushy and embarrassing, even in the short amount of time they'd known each other Aitana considered Rob not just a friend - but her best friend. And not simply due to the fact that she just didn't have many friends. They were just like such peas in a pod - it was different then the friendship she'd had even with her quartet. More like what she remembered as a child back in grade school in Brazil. It was just one more similarity between the two because she'd step in harms way for him too.

Leaning against the counter as he dug through the fridge she scoffed a little with amusement at his insistence that his liquor filled fridge needed more liquor. British people. Or maybe it was just young adults and she was behind the curve. Accepting her bottle thankfully she clinked it in time with his toast, giving an enthusiastic nod, before joining him in a drink.

******

Even with two people working the task was fairly daunting and time consuming. Not that they really noticed the passing of time that much busily at work. Focused on what they were doing the building, soundproofing, and finishing of the new walls was actually going at a steady pace and without any real problems. It wasn't simply the focus on work that had allowed the time to pass without their knowledge, however, but rather the near incessant chatter in between huffs and puffs of exertion and Rob's occasional directions. They talked about all the common construction things: that drywall dust tasted disgusting, why was insulation so itchy, why didn't they make nails that didn't like to ******** bend so much, funny tool names, how tools or supplies seemed to magically walk off, etc etc.

But they also talked about more personal things, like what it was like growing up in each of their home countries, their parents, the things they hated the most about moving and the United States. And beer, and music, and stupid looking youma, and when they'd patrol next, and just about anything else that popped into their heads. To Aitana it hardly seemed like work - other than the sweat and what would surely be a little ache in her back and triceps in the morning.

It was near dinner time as they were wrapping up, the end of the project growing ever closer. The final few details would probably take less then a half hour to finished up but Aitana's mind had managed to wander distractingly away from the project, setting down her hammer mildly to stretch. She should have been tired and hungry by now, but those thoughts were far from her mind, in fact.. she almost felt invigorated by what she had been thinking. And with a smirk she walked over to stand beside Rob for a moment, eyeing what he was working on.

She wasn't sure what had started it. Perhaps it was learning he didn't have a girlfriend earlier. Maybe it was something he'd said while they were shooting the s**t all day. But sometime during that day something had clicked and some flip in her had switched, and for the last hour or two Aitana had found herself sneaking glances at Rob. Admiring Rob even. The slight bit of muscle that became apparent in his arms when he was lifting something heavy. The tiny sliver of stomach that peeked out from under his tank top when he reached wayyy up above his head. And that stupid cocky smile as he wiped sweat from his brow. At one point she'd had to quell her desire to walk over right then and kiss that stupid grin off of his handsome face. She was a professional though - with a job to do or something.

The thoughts had brought forth other thoughts though and towards the end she'd even had a debate with herself. He was attractive, and apparently didn't have a girlfriend, and they were both adults who enjoyed each others company. Who said they couldn't really enjoy each others company sometime maybe? Or even sometimes? It wasn't a very long debate, and as she settled in next to him her voice rose, asking a question that sounded innocent enough (well.. innocent enough for their strange friendship that included two people who beat each other up for fun.) "We have not sparred in a while." Her shoulder leaned a little until it brushed his. "You like I give you some new bruises?"

Her expression, if he paid enough attention to look, was not innocent however. She looked more like a cat getting ready to pounce on a poor unsuspecting mouse.

It's been said that many hands make light work. That was surely the case with the studio project. If Rob had been doing the work by himself, it wouldn't have been done for days. With both him and Aitana working on it, the studio was almost done. Where before there had been a makeshift room with cheap soundproofing and a wall that wobbled when you touched it, there was now a proper room with a door and thick soundproofing insulation, with enough room for both Rob's and Sid's gear. The best part as far as Rob was concerned was bonding with Aitana as they talked and laughed and swapped stories. She was really an awesome person, and he found himself growing quite fond of her. They were definitely birds of a feather in a lot of ways. He considered her the first real friend he'd made since coming to Destiny City.

And she was hot, ridiculously attractive in fact, but he wasn't thinking of that right now.

Lost as he was in screwing in a drywall screw, Rob completely missed the subtle hint in her words when she brushed his shoulder with hers and mentioned sparring again. He did glance over, flashing her a grin, but the predatory expression on Aitana's face was lost on him. "No, we haven't," he agreed with a nod. "Heh, I'd love to collect some new bruises. The last batch you gave me were fairly spectacular."

She probably should have specified better. Like definitely should have. And not simply assumed that he'd read her mind - because what she was about to do could easily be construed as sexual harrassment by the prudish. Well.. atleast it wasn't going to take the clueless boy long to catch up to what she'd actually meant.

His words were the only invitation she needed, her smile deepening with his response. One hand reached for the wrist that was still holding the screw gun, attempting to get him to drop it (semi safely) as the fingertips of her other hand looped into the waistband of his shorts, giving him a rough tug to face her.

Leaning down towards his ear she nipped at it playfully. "Just bruises or would you like other marks too?"

One second he was fastening a slab of drywall to a stud, the next he was being manhandled (rather pleasantly) by Aitana. Surprised, he released the trigger of the screw gun when she grabbed his wrist, and it fell harmlessly to the floor as he was rather forcefully turned by his waistband to face her.

Then he suddenly felt her teeth nibbling on his ear and her breath on his neck, and his world kind of exploded in pleasure.

His free hand raised up to caress her tanned arm. "I think I would like both," he murmured, still a bit taken by surprise. He had no idea she felt that way about him. Not that he was complaining -- goodness knows, he'd had his share of fantasies about the tall Brazilian. He just never thought anything would ever come of them.

For once, he was happy to be proved wrong.

That definitely got his attention XD heart
