This dormitory was a blue gingerbread in the University district run by a woman who probably would have been not at all amused to find strange, trouble-making young nobodies invading the rooms of her charges. Her house was run as a tight little ship, with no lady visitors on the second floor, no strangers unannounced, and someone who looked like Ever did -- messy hair unbrushed and desperately in need of a cut, faded vest and battered shoes, a messy shiner and a split lip mostly healed but still a bit tender -- would have made it through the front door. That's why he found other ways in. And when bed check came, knocks on doors and quite inquiries to make sure the students weren't doing anything unseemly, that's why he went out the window. He wasn't conspicuous from the street, but neither did he try terribly hard not to be seen. Hat in hand meant that his fair hair shone like a beacon, as did the pasty wash of his bare back and shoulders: half-dressed but grinning as he struggled, gracelessly, to climb down the trellis without making too much noise. Ever looked debauched and amused by it and not at all apologetic.

Taking Veer home had taken longer than Ezekiel would have liked. The other man had not been terribly steady on his feet at first, so the going had been slow. When he had found his balance it had been an additional challenge to keep him on task. Eventually he had gotten Veer home though, and after making sure his friend had gone to bed the doctor-to-be had seen himself out. The walk back had been blessedly uneventful. Almost peaceful, if the man took notice of such things. He didn't That peace didn't last though. As Ezekiel neared the dormitory that stood at the end of the street his apartment rested on he caught a glimpse of something strange up in one of the windows. Or rather, crawling out of one of the windows. It caused the taller man to stop, brows arched as he watched the half naked form shimmy their way down to the street, then frown as he realized just who it was he'd caught. "You really are quite shameless."

The slippery little smile that had been on Ever's mouth, self-satisfied and, yes, unashamed -- it slid away, now, leaving a wary sort of frown in its place. At the same time, of course, he tipped his chin up to peer down his nose at the other man, adjusting the shirt in his hands to carefully haul it on over his head. Now, maybe, the exposure bothered him. A bit. "What, now you're following me?" He scraped a hand through the tousled mess of his hair and didn't quite manage to straighten it.

There was that brief moment where pale eyes had dipped to the expanse of bar skin, but they jumped up again as the shorter man spoke, accusing him of stalking. "I live here," he countered shortly, tone edged. He hadn't forgotten his run in with Ever at the cabaret, now how it had ended. Time had not made the experience any less irritating in his mind, nor elevated his opinion of the blonde.

"Here specifically?" He rolled a hand absently to the building behind him, eyes still locked warily on Zeke. Ever was abruptly wishing he'd snuck a dagger into the back of his pants for protection. If Zeke took even one step forward, he'd counter by taking one backwards. "With the nanny and everything?"

He rolled his eyes up to the building beside them Ever had just escaped from, then back down to the blonde in front of him. "Here, the university." Two buildings down, specifically. "I've heard horror stories about that woman." It was almost casual. Almost. "What are you doing here?" As if it hadn't been obvious. And maybe it hadn't.

"Research." It was immediate, unhesitating: it was a familiar excuse, and one that Ever had prepared. He squinted at Ezekiel for another long moment, assessing, and then took a sideways step -- in the direction of the cabaret. Still watching the other man. Nervous he might follow, perhaps. "You're out late.."

"Research," he deadpanned back in very obvious disbelief, eyes raising once again to the window Ever had just come shimmying out of. But then the blonde was side stepping, attempting to walk around him, and that inspired in the young doctor-to-be the very really temptation to stop him. It was a petty desire, he realized, but that knowledge did not take away from the want of it. "I had to escort a patient home." He didn't owe Ever an explanation, but one had come anyways. He found the very presence of the blonde irritating. More so than anyone else had ever managed. Lips pressing together, Ezekial half turned, watching the back of Ever's head. "Does research involve stealing from the students that live in the apartments here?"
