Jela perked up when the professor said they'd be dealing with plants from Above. She'd always wanted to try her hand at them, but getting seeds was such a hassle, not to mention expensive, so she'd had to forgo some of her more ambitious projects for lack of funding.

Now though! Now if she was careful, she'd have something to work with!. She'd have to do it right though...one wrong step and it would be all over, not to mention she'd fail...a fact that could not be borne.

So carefully she tended to her little plant and hoped for the best.

Jela frowned at the shoot that was barely peeking out from the soil. It looked...healthy enough...she frowned deeply, her face taking on it's characteristic "angry" quality even though she was definitely more upset.

What had she done wrong? Well it was alive at least, but she didn't take much pride in that. Maybe above plants were just not for her.

Jela sighed and got to work on her presentation. She hadn't done very well on the last assignment, so this one she wanted to make sure she did better. Let's see where to start, well the type of plant she'd been presented with, whether or not thrived, everything she'd attempted to help the plant, everything that had failed. There was just so much...oh well, just had to keep going.

The day of her presentation she went up to the front of the class and presented her information. It wasn't spectacular, but at least she'd hit all her points and hadn't fumbled too much with her notes. She returned to her seat afterwards feeling fairly competent that while she hadn't done spectacularly she'd at least done well.

Jela went up and selected her plants carefully. Hybrids were something she'd done most of her focus on while at the Academy and she wanted to make sure she selected plants she knew would cross well. There were some here that no matter how hard you tried they just wouldn't produce anything viable, she'd done her research.

She set off for the greenhouse and carefully started working on the plants. She just had to do well on this...this was her specialty...

Weeks of hard work, careful pollination and finally the plant sprouted and not only grew, but grew healthy.

After so many assignments of barely squeaking by, it was nice to finally have one where she knew without a doubt she'd done well.

It was already a few weeks into the semester, but Raleka couldn't have been any more excited about Botany! The topic of her major, the young hybrid couldn't wait for every class to start. She really wanted to make a good impression on the professor, and show that she was serious about what she was doing. She often studied for the class, which was a little unusual for her, and she had yet to get less than 100% on her homework. However, today, she was a little nervous.

Even though Professor Datura had said this assignment should be easy, the thought of not having all of the answers at her fingertips made Raleka a bit nervous. As he rattled off the descriptions of the plants, the hybrid scribbled down key points of the plants. Appearance, clues about the names, whether they flowered. One was even a tree! She suppressed the twisting feeling in her stomach and went off to identify the plants.

She was finished with the worksheet faster than she had anticipated, and the names of three plants, hopefully identified correctly, stared back up at her. The student's face flushed as she turned in the results of her efforts. "Thank you," she mumbled to the professor, before returning to her seat to pack up for the day.

Looking over the plants Krol couldn't help but worry about them. She of all people knew what it was like to be in an environment that wasn't suitable so she always careful with the plants when she came to class. Still the teacher was a great caretaker so the plants they worked with were always in such good condition. Looking over the clues she scribbled she moved about to identify the plants. Truth be told this class might not apply directly to her major but she took it seriously anyway medications were made using plants every day so figuring out how to take care of plants was a basic if she ever wanted to try her hand at research for making medications later on. Not only that but some plants had curative aspects that didn't need to be refined which was really good to know about. Krol was thinking about getting a soap plant just because it would do in pinch of she ran out of lotion. Certainly not ideal but better the. Walking around with wet cloths on all day.

Estys was starting to feel more and more confident about her knowledge with plants, so she coudln't help but release a sigh of relief at the project for today. Grabbing her two plants, she carefully and strenuously watched over the plants and did the appropriate things she had read and studied about about... How to remove the male organs of the flower so it wouldn't fertilize itself, carefully depositing the pollen from the other plant into the flower of the first plant... She had read it was recommended to bag the plant to remove any chance from other plants to interfere with it, but she decided not to this time.

In reasonable time, the child plant sprouted and it was perfectly hybrided. Smiling wide, she couldn't help but pump her fists happily. "Yeeees!" she exclaimed softly, rushing over to show the professor her results.
