Spring drifts into summer and summer fades to fall while fall chills into winter where winter warms into spring. This was the natural order of things. This is how it was meant to be. And while it was still technically summer by all conventional means the nights were meant to have the chill of fall to them. But noooooooo fall had to abandon the city leaving it's residences stuck with summer heat all damn day. For a knight like Pompeii whose uniform was best protection for the chill of fall a Indian summer was not a welcome weather phenomenon.

Pompeii was hot and sticky and miserable. Apparently no one else really wanted to be out in such a hot night because after a hour of patrolling she hadn't seen anything but a few homeless people doing their best to stay cool. She had finally given up being terribly active and was doing her best to cool down in a large park. The park lamps cast deep shadows and it was in those shadows that Pompeii had found some relief. The purple squire gratefully stretched out against the grass under a tree, leaching the coldness from the ground as a sigh of relief as she could feel her body temperature slowly drop to a much more reasonable level.

Her thoughts drifted from topic to topic, worry to worry, book to book. It flitted back and forth from thoughts and ideas like a butterfly among a garden... Which reminded her that soon she would have to be getting her courtyard ready for fall and the coming winter. It was hard to believe that Pompeii had been a knight of Saturn for such a long time. She had gained skills she never would have thought to have. She had done extraordinary things and some not so much, she defended herself and gotten her a** handed to her, she even had enemies and allies. It was hard to believe that she had been a knight for over a year... Next spring would make it two years. So much had changed and yet little had.

It was a warm night indeed, and one of the few times Mont Blonc was grateful for how how uniform was cut, leaving his belly exposed to the sticky night air. He would've been more grateful, still, if he hadn't sensed an order signature prickling at the fringes of his senses - another knight - and knew before he even started moving, he knew he would approach.

He'd been challenging himself more and more lately, for the benefit of the team they - Aegir and Methone - were starting, and also to be more of a boon to the team in general. He'd been so little used to them as Mont Blonc, regardless of what they said, and he just wanted... he just wanted to be able to do more, was all.

Which was how he came to find himself tentatively approaching a woman sprawled out across the grass in a rather elaborate purple dress, and though he suspected Saturn at a glance, the sight of his planet's symbol on her necklace made him brighten. Another Saturn knight? He hadn't hoped to find another so soon after Scholomance, but... !

"H-hello?" he called tentatively from a short distance away - not too close. He didn't really want to startle her.

yeah your post was longer then mine ^.^' sorry

Even resting and with her mind drifting Pompeii sensed an approaching aura. The order signature meant that she didn't need to get up, besides the ground was just too comfortable to get up if she didn't need too. Keeping her mind focused on the aura while watching the dim light play amung at the leaves above her, was surprisingly hard. The play of light was rather fascinating and it did sort of hypnotized for a moment until Pompeii closed her eyes and focused on the approaching aura... Which was a lot closer than she expected.

Even with the warning of his approach, he wasn't being overly quiet, she had to smother a squeak of surprise. With her heart racing she cracked an eye and glanced over at the intruder only to blink at surprise at another Saturn knight, a page by the feel of his aura. His uniform looked soooo much more summer appropriate than hers much to Pompeii's annoyance. Why couldn't she be in something like that rather than her strange, frilly outfit. Mentally insulting whoever designed her uniform, Pompeii turned back to studying the light dancing across the leaves. "Hello," she waved slightly before her hand flopped back to the grass. "Damn heat is really kind of oppressive." It was said with a bit more feeling than her greeting. Bah Humbug summer!
PostPosted: Mon Sep 07, 2015 12:47 am

He felt badly - he hadn't wanted to startle her, but the sudden way she turned her head and the furious blinks that followed said he mostly certainly had. The page shrank back a step or two, not wanting to crowd her, but -

She relaxed again, and so did he, slowly easing closer again and settling down onto the grass a few feet from her, knees tucked towards his chest and hair hanging in his face. Against his better judgement, Mont Blonc couldn't help but crack a smile. Small talk about the weather. How many meetings started like that? "It is. This summer's been relatively kind, but... this past week, it's really been something, hasn't it?"

Maybe too much small talk. He bit his lip, weighing whether or not to apologize for rambling, and finally just opted to fall into a familiar introduction. "I'm Mont Blonc, page of - you probably know, right?" Another tentative smile was offered, as though unsure whether or not she would accept it. "And you are?"

she did done ramble XD

Pompeii smiled as the page rambled on. It struck her as funny that he seemed to be as scattered brained as she herself was. With a sigh she sat up, it was only polite to join in on the conversation. Besides leaning against the tree was just as cooling as laying against the ground. "It's a typical late season heat wave but over all it does bring rise to the question of what winter will be like. If it's this hot this late will winter be warm or cold?" She shrugged and focused fully on the other knight.

Her smile was bright and genuine at Mont Blonc's introduction. "Yeah," she chuckled, "the astronomical symbol gives it away. Did you know that the meaning behind Saturn's symbol is 'matter taking precedence over mind or human spirit' and it represents Saturn's, or Cronus', sickle? It's really fascinating to delve into the history and mythos behind our planetary symbols." Pompeii sketched their symbol on the grass as she explained the meaning behind it the cross, or matter, followed by the swooping crescent of mind or human spirit. She had done an extensive amount of study when she first had awakened, on both her planet and her wonder. So much was different then what logic dictated but it was still so very fascinating.

One after another she sketched the other series of symbols. "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus," she paused on Uranus and added an extra factoid, "Uranus actually has two variant symbols that the books reference. Pluto also has two known symbols according to the books I've found." She sketched out both sets of symbols before she added the planet she had skipped over, "and Neptune." She glanced up and smiled. Sharing her knowledge always made her happy, only sharing her books made her happier. Her smile faded away as she realized she had missed his earlier question, she winced slightly and sheepishly introduced herself. "I'm Pompeii by the way, it's nice to meet you."

"Hmm..." the page hummed thoughtfully, turning his gaze skyward as he pursed his lips. The look didn't last long; a soft smile was much more at home on his face. "I hope it's a cool winter. It doesn't have to be too cold, just - I'd love for there to be a lot of snow, you know?" He loved walking in the summer and all the lush green that waited for him, but there was also something to be said for the awe-inspiring nature of land completely covered in a sheet of snow. "What do you think? - do you have a preference?"

He blinked and then listened intently to her explanation of Saturn's symbol, and others, etching them all out into the dirt by memory alone. If there had been any shyness left to his smile, it faded almost immediately, melting away into awe and curiosity. "I didn't know any of that, " he admitted, shuffling a little closer to take a better look. "I actually - I feel as though I - my connection to Saturn is so - odd, " and that seemed like the best word he had, his cheeks burning at the admission as he laughed quietly.

"Pompeii, though. - I know about earth's Pompeii." He reached up and toyed with one of the chains that kept his jacket on him, fidgeting. "It's so nice to meet you, too, there's - I feel like there's so few of us sometimes."

so sorry about the delay love sweatdrop

Pompeii contemplated the page's question. She did quite enjoy a good book and hot chocolate when the store was snowed in and all she had to worry about was the power going out. Those were good days since she tended to get a lot of reading done. It was the days when the store was still open and she had to battle wet floors that Pompeii didn't like... too much water was bad for the books. "I guess I'm fine with snow but I don't like dealing with the water. Water and books just don't mix. Then again if I had to choose between rain and snow I would pick snow since its easier to deal with then rain." She would just have to get a larger front door mat for the store to cut down on the snow being tramped into her store. The purple squire didn't even contemplate how the snow would affect her patrolling only how it would affect her bookstore and her beloved books.

"Oh..." A blush permeated Pompeii's cheeks, "Um, I was curious about it and the knights in general so did some pretty in depth research although a lot of what I found was quite useless." The high color in her face faded as she contemplated what Mont Blonc admitted. With her head cocked to the side like a curious bird she asked, "How so? I mean I don't really go to my wonder much but that's because I don't particularly like arguing with my ancestor who keeps insisting I clean the library. I mean I've cleaned that place like three times now and he keeps telling me to do it again. Hell didn't even bother to help me out when my weapon upgraded he was just like, 'figure it out yourself'. What is the point of the ancestors if you cant ask them for help?" She huffed out the last of her anger and took a deep breath. Even the thought of Aralias, her ancestor, got her steamed. She got more scrapes and bruises from his 'training' then she ever did during a normal night of patrolling.

"I've done extensive research on earth's Pompeii too and actually the only thing that I've found helpful is a map. My Pompeii is still intact for the most part so other then learning about the roman way of life and their general building structures the papers I've found haven't really helped much." Pompeii casually stretched and winced when her back gave a resounding pop as her joints shifted. Apparently resting on the hard ground was not the best idea. "So few of who?" She asked as she stretched her arm behind her back, feeling the muscle pull tight. "Knights? I've actually seen a lot of them..." she trailed off as she really thought about it, "Well maybe not really. I wonder why that is? Are Knights really not that prevalent... What about senshi?" Since Pompeii didn't normally run into a lot of other orders she never really thought about their numbers. Could the negaverse really over power them via numbers alone?
PostPosted: Mon Oct 12, 2015 4:53 am

Mont Blonc smiled ruefully, remembering back to more than one unfortunate instance of being caught in the rain with his favorite book in hand, especially when he'd been out on a trail or something. "You're right. I've had some... casualties that way, " he admitted with a soft chuckle. Although really, in a couple of instances it'd been something of a tragedy.

"I'm sure it wasn't useless, " he interjected rather too passionately, a splash of color tinting his cheeks as he realized how fervently he'd said it. But given all he didn't know, "I'd love to be able to know how. Anything. Any of it. So - so I'm sure even if it's not combat ready information, it's not useless. Not at all."

Mont Blonc fidgeted then, trying to find the words to express his oddness with his wonder. Although he brightened when she mentioned an ancestor; he'd heard something of a knight having a situation like this, one, briefly. "An ancestor... how lucky, " he breathed, a ghost of a smile on his face. "Although it's unfortunate he's not proving very helpful, you're right."

He bit his lip and glanced skyward. "I don't have an ancestor, myself. - I think I am him? The Mont Blonc from before. So I haven't been able to find much out about my wonder. I felt so drawn to it before, but - it's a mountain bathed in bones and ash. Tunnels underneath. Categories of names. Victims or whatever they might be. It's not really a very fun place to be, " he admitted, looking down again with a slight shudder. "I feel... very drawn to Saturn, especially the people who served it. Not to, uh, put you off or anything, " he said suddenly, not wanting to seem too invasive or anything since she was, herself, a knight of Saturn. "It just - I like being around people like me? - talking comes hard to me, but it's easier with other knights like you. If that even makes sense."

As for comparing earth's Pompeii and Saturn, well, "That's so interesting, " he couldn't help but breathe, and it was true. "I've - uh - been to the mountain on Earth that comes closest, name-wise, Mont Blanc. But aside from finding my ring at some ruins there, for whatever reason, " he glanced at his sigil ring with a faint frown. "There doesn't seem to be a whole lot in common besides 'these are both mountains and they're tall'."

He sat up, elbows on his knees, and sighed, shrugging his shoulders. "I don't know much of actual numbers. I just know in my experience, I've only ever seen three knights of Saturn besides you, and one was corrupted not too long ago." It ached to say it. He still missed Ploutonion terribly. The page smiled, suddenly, glancing at Pompeii. "We're actually forming a team. I mean. Of knights of Saturn and the senshi associated with her - I mean, it. The planet." He blushed at the slip, wondering where it'd come from. "Would you maybe be interested?"

Pompeii nodded in sympathy as a particular book flashed through her mind. Unlike normal that poor book was a casualty of the war since it was ultimately a youma which had the brand new book taking a swim in a park fountain. It had taken months to get under control her absolute fury regarding the destruction of that book. As she sat there remembering she could feel her ire rise once more and had to mentally check herself. When the incident first happened she had dove recklessly into patrolling and training and it wasn't until her friends had cornered her was she able to calm down. Now she was just slowly shaving off the massive debt the negaverse owed, one fight at a time.

With her emotions back under control she smiled wanly, "you have a point since no peice of knowlege is completely useless. I just haven't found the point where I can use it. And as for having an ancestor..." She shrugged, "It's over rated. I think he does it on purpose though I really don't know why. You are a reincarnation like senshi rather than a descendent like me. I think it just takes time to figure it out." She listened quietly as he described his wonder.

"At least you know something happened. Pompeii is empty... like the people just 'poofed' one day. I've found empty cooking pots over cold fire and market places full of goods untouched by time other than the food being gone and dust everywhere. Now that is, as you phrased it, 'not really a fun place to be'." As he continued Pompeii felt a bit surprised. She never struck herself as someone easy to talk to so she really didn't know what to make of this page sitting in front of her. She was tempted to ask who exactly he meant but the conversation took another turn and it took her a moment to catch up.

"Where Mont Blanc? You can get a ring from someplace other than your wonder?" The questions were random but that was normally how she thought. As for his lack of interest for both his earthly wonder and his celestial one she could only think of one thing to say, "'Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.' Marcus Aurelius. Look deeper, there has to be a reason for everything." Sadly there wasn't much more she could suggest to him, the fact that she herself had stopped trying to understand her own wonder had her look away as a flash of shame ripped through her. Maybe she should go back to her wonder, explore more, try to understand more. If only Aralias wasn't there although if she could actually get him to talk maybe she could understand more about the empty city.

She tunned back into the conversation just as Mont Blanc mentioned that Saturn knights numbers were quite limited, even more so since one was corrupted. It was a sad thought. To lose a knight surprisingly hurt and Pompeii could only wonder how it would have felt if she had actually known the knight. Distracted she said the first thing that came to her mind when the page asked her about the team, "I'm actually already on one....sort of." She felt obligated to add the 'sort of' since she wasn't terribly sure what was going on anymore. "Not that my team would mind so much me working with another one. The more techniques and knowledge shared is a good thing. It means maybe we can beat back the dark, maybe even bring back those who fell into that void."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 19, 2015 6:44 am

Mont Blonc saw a few emotions flash across her face, and could only assume the kinds of things she must have seen to evoke such a reaction - so he just let her have her moment, ready to soothe her if it came down to it.

It did not.

"Time. Yes. Probably time..." And a desire to return to the wonder in question at all. That would probably help as well. Sadly, one of those two things he was sorely lacking in.

He tilted his head curiously at her explanation. "B-but... you said - surely something happened on your wonder too, then?" he offered tentatively, fidgeting a bit. He didn't want to come across rudely, but, "People don't often just... up and vanish, you know? So surely something must have happened there?"

As for that question, he nodded. "Yes. Ruins on the earthly Mont Blanc. It makes me think maybe there's a connection? Or something like that. I can't really say for sure. I might never know, really, " he admitted, looking down a bit. It was a lovely quote, sure enough, and he smiled at it. But again. All of this would require a... want to go back there. And he simply had none.

Mont Blonc was a bit discouraged at first to hear she was on a team alright, but she was completely correct, of course. More techniques and knowledge would only help, and they could surely use the networking or whatever! "If you're interested, I mean - if you wanted - we should be meeting soon - so I could power down and uh, give you my number or something along those lines, perhaps?" he offered, he hoped helpfully and not invasively. "But it's up to you. No pressure."

sorry about the delay... kinda got sucked into a rp funk T.T

Pompeii shrugged, "I don't know. The only thing that I've found to be damaged was the Prytaneum. A small structure that housed the sacred fire, a metaphorical hearth for everyone in the city. The rest of the buildings are intact and other than a few overturned bowls and chairs nothing is disturbed. My ancestor also doesn't tell me what happened... if he even knows." She didn't elaborate on just how eerie it was in the city, or how even the amount of dust wasn't right. One would think that there would have been tons of dust, dirt, and animal damage throughout the city but other than a coating of dust there was nothing. The dust wasn't even all that thick, just enough to obscure the mosaics and to make her life hell when she tried to clean. The only place that was she was even happy about cleaning was the bath... the library would have been it if only she could read anything in it. "I can show you some time if you want."

Now her curiosity was peaked. "Where is the earthly Mont Blanc? I would think there is a connection after all why else would there be ruins not only on Saturn but on Earth as well." She paused as thoughts swirled in her head, discussing Mont Blanc's wonder made her more curious about her own wonder as well. "It might be worth talking to Camelot or one of the other older knights." Had any of them figured out what exactly had happened? Why some places were destroyed, while others were intact? Just what exactly happened long ago.

"Oh that should be interesting. It would be nice to meet other knights other then running into them randomly." Sadly most of her meetings with senshi or knights occurred during run ins while on patrol. She wasn't terribly social and besides... the way Pompeii understood it large crowds of powered individuates tended to attract the wrong kind of attention. "Oh, well you can I guess or I could do the same or you know you could just send me a note via the ring." She absently twisted the ring she wore that she had found in the Prytaneum once she had restarted the fire.

Mont Blonc frowned, but could hardly offer more than a nod of understanding regarding her wonder and the mystery behind it. It sounded terribly unsettling, but then, places on Saturn tended to be, or so he was coming to learn. Such a beautiful place that housed so many disturbing places and things. Even so, knowing that, he still smiled at her offer. "I would love that," Any chance to see more of Saturn, after all, to get closer to those like him, was a welcome opportunity.

"Ah, that's - " The page laughed lightly. "Western Europe? Near Italy and France. I'm sure there must be something, but I'll be damned if I know what it is." Camelot. The name still made him a little uncomfortable, thinking back to the SOS and the feelings of isolation that had followed. But it was sound advice regardless. "Perhaps I should. I hardly know much of anything myself, to be honest..."

Interesting, nice, yes. Mont Blonc's face was flushed, still, but his smile was radiant. "A letter, then. I'll send you a letter when we're set to have a meeting, and you should absolutely come. I'm sure that everyone would be delighted to meet you." He rose, then, slowly. "Speaking of, I should really probably head back, but - I'll be sure to write you, Pompeii, and it's been a pleasure." Then, hastily, he added, "Please. Feel free to send me a letter any time, too. Mont Blonc, spelled with an 'o', not an 'a'."

I would say your next post should wrap it nicely if you dont want to consider this a wrap

Pompeii smiled at the other Saturn knight. It was nice to talk to someone from her own planet, she was tempted it pick his brain about pretty much everything but it was so hard to decide where to start. Luckily for Mont Blonc he needed to head out, much to Pompeii's disappointment. So many questions, so little time.

"Yes of course. It would be interesting to talk to others and learn more about... well everything." She shrugged before following the young man's lead and getting to her feet. Regardless of the temperature and the time she was still technically on patrol so heading out would be best. "I guess I should continue patrolling in this indian summer night for a while longer. I'll look forward to any letters and I'll do the same." With a nod and a wave of farewell she headed off into the darkness, her mind a swirl of ideas. She definitely needed to sit down with everyone she knew and get some answers... maybe even some from her ancestor. I wonder what Aralias would think of him. She silently wondered as she focused back to the task at hand, searching for chaos.
