Name: Daniel Mathias Rhodes
Nickname: Dan or Danny, Danny-boy by an old uncle that has since passed away.
Age: 42
Birthday: January 1 (1974)
Sign: Capricorn
Gemstone: Tanzanite
Blood Type: AB+
Fav. Food: All food is good food! Unless, of course, it isn't meant for human consumption.
Hated Food: None, but it's hard to enjoy anything severely undercooked or badly burnt.
Occupation: Head chef and restaurant owner
Hobbies:
Food -- This is a given, considering his occupation; Daniel has had a love and passion for food for as long as he can remember, even suffering through the ridicule of being the chubby kid in school for it (though they all eventually shut up after trying his food). He enjoys indulging in any medium involving food: blogs, books, TV shows (especially documentaries), movies even, and of course cooking and eating food. More than that, he enjoys sharing his love and passion for food with his family, close friends and colleagues. His favorite time of any day is when his kids are home and they're in the kitchen, cooking (be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner) together and eventually eating together at the table.
Health -- His late wife instilled in him, way back when they were actually still in college, an understanding that enjoying food is no excuse for being unhealthy. She put no restraints on him in the kitchen, provided he learn to exercise and practice good eating habits (no soda, no serious junk food, etc.). It was a lifestyle he struggled with at first but eventually adopted and learned to enjoy to a moderate degree, especially now that he's older. He stays conscious of what he takes in and exercises as regularly as he can manage with his busy schedule, and is working to teach the same discipline to his children. He's not quite so strict about it, but he does make it a point to keep junk food out of the house.
Parenting -- Daniel considers himself a full-time father first, and sees it as, as much a responsibility as something he should find enjoyment in. And he does; he loves being a dad and being involved in his kids' lives. He carves time out of his schedule--usually having his assistant go in his place--to make sure that he can make it to that show or that game or whatever else his kids need him for. He and his wife tried their best to be both encouraging and supportive of their children's activities, and especially now that she's gone he wants them to know that he's there for them regardless of what he's got on his own plate. His children, hands down, will always be his number one priority.
Crime Dramas -- If he's not watching a TV show about food, he probably has the channel flipped to a crime drama of some sort. NCIS, Criminal Minds, Law & Order: SVU, Forensic Files and several others. It was a private enjoyment between him and his late wife, and one he's carried over now as a single father, in part to keep her memory alive but also because he just really loves the drama. Between the two of them he probably took the stories a little more seriously, but they both found a level of enjoyment in the various stories. He has an extensive DVD collection of his favorites, but also keeps recordings of quite a few other shows on his TiVo and watches missed episodes when he can.
Virtues:
- [+] Ambitious
- His parents might have had words for him with regard to his definition of success, but Daniel has and always will be a go-getter. His achievements, whatever they might be, all come from good prioritization, proper time management, and a heaping helping of patience and self-motivation to go out there and get what he wants out of life. He always sets a high goal for himself and works hard to achieve it before moving on to the next one. He strives to move his life forward, and is always wary of becoming complacent. He applies the same attitude he had when he worked and eventually realized his dream to become a chef to everything he does because, for him, it's a tried and true method.
- [+] Flexible
- He wasn't always this way, but fatherhood forced him to be a lot more flexible with his hours, especially those spent at work or school (when he was still in school). Now, Daniel has no trouble adjusting his schedule or making last-minute changes to anything, but he's especially attentive with making changes to make sure he has time for the kids. His right-hand man (who is incidentally a woman) is particularly helpful in this regard, and is almost always willing to step in for him in important meetings and such that can't be rescheduled. He always makes sure to let everyone involved know ahead of time if he does make changes though, so no one's late or shows up when they don't have to.
- [+] Grounded
- He's had dreams and goals and ambitions all his life, but Daniel always knew that each of them had to be met with his feet firmly planted on the ground. He doesn't like to waste time with his head in the clouds, except perhaps in the case of thinking up new menu items or recipes to try at home. He doesn't expect charity or handouts, nor does he expect life to be kind or fair. He sees things for what they are and does what he thinks is necessary to get what he wants and where he wants to be. Not ruthlessly so, but he'll definitely fight to achieve his goals. Occasionally he might give in to a whim or two, but such instances have been few and far between and usually involve his family.
- [+] Nurturing
- It was more of an attitude that his wife had that he simply took after, wanting to become the ideal father to his two young boys even with his busy schedule. Daniel tries to be supportive and encouraging to his kids, especially to his teenage boys, and always reminds them that they need to work for everything in this life. In caring for his children in such a way, he eventually started to take on the same attitude with his kids' friends and even his younger colleagues and employees. If he sees a special something in you he'll take special attention to help bring that talent to light. Even if he doesn't, he'll be there to encourage you and make sure that you know that your efforts will always be rewarded.
Flaws:
- [–] Coddler
- Sometimes Daniel has a tendency to "baby" his children, and by extension anyone else he takes a special interest in. Often times he can be overly lenient to the point where even serious mistakes don't seem all that bad and instead he sits down whoever it is that messed up and dumbs down the severity of whatever it is that happened. This is especially true when someone is particularly apologetic about it and has just been generally having what seems like a bad day; he feels the need to just give them an encouraging hug and send them on their merry way. His kids have been known to take advantage of this, and even his younger employees on occasion if they're able to.
- [–] Self-Blaming
- Whenever things in his own life, or even just within his periphery, are going badly Daniel feels the need to lay the blame on himself. Even with things clearly out of his control, he feels this way. If he'd done something differently, had better timing, or said something more gently then maybe things would have turned out better. The guilt is a time-suck, taking his attention away from his priorities as he turns the situation every which way in hopes of finding his mistake. He's actually been told that his brooding and profuse apologizing is something of a punishment in and of itself, but nothing came of that. If anything, it's only made him worse, giving him a reason to apologize for apologizing.
- [–] Unreasonable
- He tries his hardest to be a good father and a good boss and in general a good person, but Daniel has a bad habit of projecting the high standards he sets for himself onto everyone else around him. If he's patient and fair, everyone else ought to be, too. If he can achieve his dream and be married by the time he was twenty-two, then so should his kids. And the list of expectations goes on. This is most apparent when he's giving his kids a stern talking-to, but it's something that follows him in the everyday. He may not always voice it, but his thoughts and actions are only of disappointment whenever someone doesn't meet his standards. And to be perfectly honest, hardly anyone ever does.
- [–] Workaholic
- Daniel's briefcase is practically a part of him, and his friends often joke that it's more or less a removal appendage. He brings his work with him everywhere, especially since becoming a restaurant owner, and his "work space" knows no limitations. Parks, local libraries, restaurants, cafes, and really all manner of public places probably have video of him at least once pulling out his laptop or a little bit of paperwork while he waited or had lunch or "killed time" on a break. He'll often need a bit of coaxing before he decides to put down his work to go have some real downtime, and since his wife's passing he's found it a lot easier to deal with the atmosphere of his home from within the confines of his office.

Knight Title: Meteora Page of Earth (click)
Challenge:
Uniform: Primarily CC, but I have...links. lol Then hopefully the artist can do something with them.
[link] -- I guess this is the general idea for the outfit? Should have a lot more leather, very minimal metal and none of the weapons, of course.
[link] -- I like the shoulder pads and the belts over his chest.
[link] -- I really, really like these. *o*
Top -- CC
Bottoms -- CC
Gloves -- No gloves, but bracers are totally okay.
Belt -- CC
Shoes -- CC
Shoulders -- CC
Accessories -- CC; was kinda thinking I wanted him to have a headband of some kind? But also anything else that would work well with the artist's idea.
Weapon
- Tattered Leather Bracer -- On his right hand/wrist. It's simple and leather, very old. It kind of smells, particularly when it gets wet.
- Magic: None.
Metal Glove -- On his right hand/forearm. A fancier metal glove/bracer combination. Style is CC at this point because I can't find any links, but it's meant to be a little fancier looking and slightly more effective in a fight.
- Magic: With his right hand Meteora punches the ground. The impact causes the ground to rapidly crack and splinter outward, with him at the center, in a five-foot radius, after which an earth dome rises out of the ground and surrounds whoever is within (maximum of 4 individuals, including him). The dome prevents against all physical attacks, but can only take one hit from a super attack or two hits from a basic attack before it crumbles. It will immediately crumble if hit by an eternal attack or higher. It will also crumble if, for any reason, he loses focus or his gauntlet is no longer touching the ground. He can channel this magic for a total of 30 seconds.
Heavy Gauntlet -- On his right hand/forearm. A full on heavy gauntlet. It's very fancy, incredibly sturdy and certainly more effective in combat. Style is still CC at this point for the same reason as above.
- Magic: With his right hand Meteora punches the ground. The impact causes the ground to rapidly crack and splinter outward, with him at the center, in a five-foot radius, after which an earth dome rises out of the ground and surrounds whoever is within (maximum of 4 individuals, including him). The cracks inside the dome now emit a cool, soothing mist that heals those inside the dome of minor injuries. The dome itself still prevents against all physical attacks, but can only take one hit from an eternal attacks, two hits from a super attack or three hits from a basic attack before it crumbles. It will immediately crumble if hit by an attack stronger than an eternal's. It will also crumble if, for any reason, he loses focus or his gauntlet is no longer touching the ground. He can channel this magic for a total of 45 seconds.
