Quote: Rán yawned wide, wings spread to their full extent as she stretched against the light of the new day. She’d spent the entirety of yesterday evening with her new partner (whose name she did not know, but that wasn’t important!), and she was eager to repeat the experience. Finding her blue- and purple-halved buddy, she skipped towards the filly with a welcoming, “GOOD MORNING.” Quote: Yesterday had been quite the day! She'd met a few new soq and mama was so proud. She had managed to talk with some of them too! Though, she did admit, she had been rather nervous. And shy. But all in all, Heliotrope had managed to keep her courage up enough to make an acquaintance. Who had been loud where she was quiet. Ironic, really. The little filly curled under her wings more where she slept, glad to not have to deal with anymore socializing... and was jumping to her feet with a cry. "W-Who... w-why... umm... g-ggood morning?" Oh divine light, she couldn't remember this ones name! Except The Loud One. Quote: Rán was a good-natured creature, and not one to take offence at “who’s” and “why’s.” Instead, she slid smoothly to the filly’s side, nuzzling against her with unrestrained affection. “It’s a new day, partner! You ready for an adventure?”
She did not think her mother would particularly approve of her escaping her studies a second day in a row—but her mother was not here, was she? And besides, what better way to get something into a noggin but with some well-rounded field experience? Quote: She was still baffled at the presence of this filly. And even more embarrassed by the fact she could not recall her name. A faint blush spread along her cheeks as she was nuzzled and Helio could only nod in agreement, not wanting to be rude! Mama wouldn't mind her... adventuring, right?
"O-Okay... " She said meekly, getting to her hooves and carefully stretching out her wings to get the kinks out of them before looking at RAN! That was it! Rán. "Where... are we going?" There was hint of curiousness to her tone that may have suggested possibly excitement. Quote: Rán stopped, looked up, looked down, then back to Heliotrope whilst rolling her shoulders in an exaggerated shrug. “No idea! That’s what’ll make it fun!”
She started off without another word, one of her tails curled around the filly to merrily drag her along. While the forward propulsion of her steps declared confidence and excitement, she had no clue where they were and where they would be going. “Who knows what’ll happen! We could meet a bear, or even a dragon! Or even find strawberries! They’re sooooo good, but I can’t have too much because we have to share, though Ezra gives me his. Oh! Maybe we can even rescue someone from a monster while we look!” Quote: If possible, the filly turned as white as a ghost. "B-Bears? D-Ddddragons?!" Oh she so very hoped it was the strawberries they found! Bears were huge and terrifying, from what she had herd. And dragons? The mare shivered a little, following after Rán. "I... haven't tried strawberries yet." She admitted softly, trotting a little to keep up with the excited filly.
"Whose... Ezra?" She asked as an afterthought. Oh gosh what if he was one of those bears or dragons?! Helio felt like she might have a heart attack.

Quote: “Yeah! We can take ‘em, easy.” She made boxing motions with her wings as they walked, one eye shut as she concentrated on the imagined foe in front of her. “First I’ll go like this— ” she punched the air, “—then HYAH!” She kicked behind her (because, clearly, there would be multiple enemies, and she would know perfectly when one had snuck up to her). “Then you’ll come in with a ‘AIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIEIE’ and pSCHOOWW we’ll come out victorious. Yeah, just like that!” The rest of the description was accompanied with just as many enthusiastic examples including head butts, bites, and a side-step maneuver that seemed more like to trip her than deal any sort of damage.
“We should probably eat up before we get into any fights, though,” she added gravely, before craning her head down sharply, eyes squinted for the sight of strawberries. “Come help me look; they’re small red things with spots all over!”
After a moment, “Oh! Ezra is my big brother, silly! He looks after me all the time – too much, I should say.” She flapped her wings, as if to wave off his smothering presence. “Do you have any brothers?” Quote: Helio was not so sure she agreed with Rán. Each of her boxing motions, side-step maneuvers and really radical movements in general had the poor shy filly ducking and squeaking and eventually just covering her head with her wings. She peeked through them when she thought it was safe. "I... I don't think I can... do that." No, she was positive she couldn't do any of that! And really, how could Rán do it too? They were little compared to Bears and Dragons!
"P-Probably." She agreed with a little more enthusiasm. Hunting for food was safe, right? Helio looked down towards the ground too, not sure what she was supposed to find. "Red with spots. O-Okay." That was a simple enough description!
"O-Oh!" Heliotrope blushed, so very thankful Rán couldn't read thoughts - that she was aware. "I do! And a sister!" For the first time, there was genuine eagerness in her step. "Two brothers and my sister! Dark Heart and Vermillion are older than me. But Gyatso is about my age!" Quote: “Don’t worry about it, partner; it’ll come all natural and effortless, and you’ll forget you ever worried at all!” Having been born with prodigious abilities amongst a family that trained often, she simply assumed it was easy for everyone. The filly did remind her a little of herself, though when she was younger. She spread a wing over the other’s back, as her brother did for her. “You’ll be all right, I know it!”
She paused in her searching at Heliotrope’s description, having forgotten for a second that not everyone had sisters, and thus felt the fact needed clarifying. She’d heard, too, that most in this part of the area were raised in “nuclear families,” though it was her first time actually talking about it.
“That’s... a lot?” She had meant it as a statement, but it came out a question. Surely these small families would have at least twenty. Or... were they new? “I’ve got a bunch of sisters my age, though I haven’t remembered all their names yet. All my blood siblings are older, though!” Quote: "I... I hope so." She mumbled, still not quite believing it. But maybe Ran would be able to handle it without her? Helio certainly hoped so! The feeling of wings on her back was comforting. She'd even stopped hiding behind her own, so much! And might have stumbled only a few times. "Okay... " Helio agreed instead. That was the easiest.
Helio just about tripped over her own feet when she realized Ran had stopped. Then she gave the other filly a confused look. "Y-Yes... ?" Her family was getting pretty big! And then there was Vermillion's partner... mate... she wasn't sure how they had explained it. But Arcadia was there too. And cousins she could play with! That was big, right? "I've only got Vermillion as my actual actual sister. But then there is Arcadia. Who is Vermillion's special someone!" She paused, thinking. "But only Gyatso stays at home with me."
