Wrathful Demigod

It would not take very long for Porsha to make good on her request to visit Shale in his new apartment. Some nights after her former roommate had made them dinner, the woman found herself crawling into bed with him, as they had done so many times before. It had been late when she'd arrived, at the conclusion of the a late night out making the rounds through the city. Not the energy gathering her Captain was required to do, but her own duties. It had been a woefully uneventful evening, but any annoyance she might have carried from that disappointment had faded quick enough she'd tucked herself up against Shale's side.

It had been a long time since she'd slept as soundly, or as comfortably, and it reinforced what she already knew. She did not like sleeping alone.

The next morning, like most mornings in her apartment, she woke first, even without the jarring buzz of the alarm she usually kept. The sun was barely pressing in against the curtains when she slipped from the bed and quietly took her leave of the captain's bedroom, pulling the door closed behind her with a gentle click. The apartment was quiet in the way places were this early in the morning, air still, but cool.

She padded silently towards the kitchen, aiming for the coffee maker on the counter, and had to pause in her search of the cabinets, arms stretching over her head as she rose up on the toes of her feet, back arching. It showed of the tank top and colorful boy shorts she was wearing to absolute perfection.

Shale was next to rise, as was regimented by the sleep schedule he carried over from his days outside of Destiny City. The rosy hazy peered through curtains to a muted pink, drawn across the hunter's face while the fog slowly burnt away. The hunter rose with marginal bleariness, though the heat of the morning left him with a thin, sticky sheen of sweat. Providing a warm body for Porsha failed to offset this condition.

He slipped out from the bed dressed purely in Jockeys, with the underwear leaving little to the imagination. Simple cotton grey they were, complete with the thick waistband that sat below his hips. As he righted himself, hands slipped into thick hair to knead out some of the soreness that came from sleeping in the same position, and his scalp responded gratefully. After adding a hair tie from nightstand to wrist, the hunter stood and stretched to pop synovial bubbles and regain some limberness. He still felt stiff afterward - another anomaly that began after moving to Destiny City. He knew the remedy well, but Porsha never appreciated his sleeping on the floor.

After he left his small, woefully under-furnished bedroom and padded down the hall, Shale spotted Porsha abruptly. Her figure was easy to spot past the small island that separated living room from the kitchenette. The layout of the larger living room offered a sectional pulled about a foot out from the apartment wall, so he edged between the couch and the window behind to stand in front of the built-in air conditioning unit. The cool air wrapped about his bare lower back and stomach quite nicely, dispelling some of the morning's sticky humidity.

His gaze fell to the project strewn across the old oak coffee table - a surfeit of arrow shafts lay out in a scatter, some fitted with nocks while others entirely naked as he worked on sorting out his most recent purchase in potentially useful shafts. He meant to clean the mess up before Porsha arrived, as was taught to him recently by common etiquette rules, but he forgot in the span of his duties. Porsha didn't look like she minded. And in visually crossing the expanse of carpet to the kitchenette, he watched her work at starting up coffee. She often hummed while she did so, like she didn't particularly care if anyone was around.

"Cabinet in the corner, top shelf." Shale guessed that she went looking for the ground coffee. Unfortunately, both occupants of the house stood at over six feet - the top shelf proved reachable, but Porsha would have to climb the countertops. "Unless you want chicory."

Waking up, for Damian, was generally less actually "waking up" and more "giving up on sleep." He only ever slept in fits and starts anyway, usually punctuated by nightmares pulled from his memories or his anxieties.

It also meant that generally when he "woke up," he was not particularly awake, beyond being vertical and moving, and he certainly had very little care for how sloppy he looked in boxer shorts and with his braid coming partially apart. Which was why, when he got to the living room and could see into the kitchen, it took him a long moment to realize there wasn't just one scantily clad body in the kitchen. He blinked, slowly.

"I didn't know we were having company," he said, simply. "Good morning Porsha, Shale." He addressed both his roommate and their guest, and considered that approximately his full obligation to be talkative before putting any kind of caffeinated beverage into his system. He carefully wove through the two of them to get a teakettle filled with water and on the stove.

She was humming now, something popular and upbeat, as she nosily searched through their cabinets in search of the can of coffee she suspected had to be there somewhere. There was a coffeemaker, it was sound logic. Of course humming meant she didn't immediately hear Shale when he walked down the hall from his room, not until he had slipped between couch and wall to stand in front of the air conditioning unit mounted in the window, and only then because the quality of the air moving trough the room suddenly sounded off.

The humming ceased as he spoke, and Porsha paused in her search to glance back at him over her shoulder, admiring the soft morning light on bare skin. he was always worth a look or two. Or three.

His answer to her unasked question took her down the counter towards the corner, but before she could hoist herself up to get to the top shelf they were joined by the other occupant of the household. Pale eyes landed on Damien as he paused in the hall, a soft, overly amused smile playing on her lips as he made no real reaction to her presence beyond a simple observation, and headed towards her to set the kettle on the stove to heat. "Good morning Damien."

She waited a moment, attention turning from one man to the next, before turning and hopping up to sit on the edge of the counter. "Damien." Her voice was far too mild. "Would you mind reaching up and grabbing the coffee for me?" From the cabinet she was sitting almost directly beneath.

"She came over last night," Shale volunteered without thinking. When he looked to his roommate, he noted the disheveled braid and general look of grumpiness - it seemed that Damian took no interest in mornings or their constituent rituals. Porsha, by contrast, very much did. She rose with aplomb and launched into her routine without lamenting the fact that daylight now poured through the windows.

Shale took little stock in how the two gauged each other, and instead crossed the length of the kitchen to stand next to the unfortunately short guest of the apartment. Shale remained flat-footed as he retrieved the coffee bag from the top shelf and set it atop the counter for Porsha to peruse. It was a blend obtained from a local coffee shop, labeled 'breakfast blend', that bore the name of Card Sharks. He found that none of the titles made sense, and reading the quick blurb on the back talking about the alertness and savvy maintained by World Poker Series winners somehow tying into the coffee product only left him further confused. But it smelled good, and sometimes Damian drank coffee, so he bought it.

It seemed easier for him to attend to Porsha's needs than it would be to have Damian, a total stranger to her, reaching up when so close to her. The girl did not often vacate her own space for another's comfort.

Shale gave a nod toward the coffee maker. "He'll tell you how to work the machine." Shale himself found it dumbfounding. Rather than stick around and watch her get started, the hunter strode for the fridge to sift out breakfast essentials for the three of them. Crouching in front of the fridge, however, often caused his underwear to ride up his a**.
