With summer finally starting to wind to an end, Arian had once again started to fall into the pattern of picking up a hot drink to take along on his patrols. His choice for the evening had ended up being a large take-out latte, although it was probably safe to say that the contents were more sugar than coffee given that said latte had been doctored up with cream and syrup and the chocolate sprinkles that he hadn't been able resist. It hadn't taken long to find somewhere secluded enough to power up, Eternal Sailor the one who stepped out of the alleyways, and passed by shops empty and silent as he wandered the quiet streets close to the road that led up to and towards DCU. frayedflower hope this works as a quick start Hana, sorry to have taken so long

DCU tended to attract a lot of attention, given what it was - Lorne, for a little longer at least, lived close by. So it was only natural that Mont Blonc tended to pass through the campus at least once a night on his patrols, at least when he wasn't staying with Colin or Nadia for the night.
An energy signature was waiting for him, Order - and he was trying terribly hard to try and overcome his own anxiety about meeting new people, especially since they were all on the same side and all. It still didn't make the initial approach easier.
This time, though, at the eternal senshi graced his line of sight - for once, Mont Blonc was trying to bite back a smile instead of coaxing and prodding himself until it happened. "Sir, excuse me, but... your nose, " he greeted tentatively, pointing to his own. "You've got a little..." Cream, it looked to be.

Athene had noticed the sudden flare of the Page aura, albeit in a kind of absent way, a part of his subconscious picking up on it before noting that it wasn't a chaos aura. He hadn't made any special moves towards it, but neither had he tried to avoid it as he took the odd sip of the contents in the take cup that was cradled carefully in his hands. It seemed however that he had been drift-walking in the direction of the other Order aura, or perhaps the source of the aura was just closer than he'd assumed, because it didn't take long for the source of the second aura to make itself known in the form of a voice that... That... It took a few moments for Athene to realise what the Page was telling him, one hand automatically moving from helping its fellow to hold the take out cup to reach up and tap the mentioned nose. "Oh" there was a rueful note to his quiet voice as he dropped his hand and rummaged one-handed in the small satchel - that he for the most part took along on patrol - for the pack of tissues that he vaguely remembered sticking in at some point. It took a moment or two, but fortunately the tissues turned out to be not only in the satchel, but also relatively towards the top and he was able to fumble one out with which to swipe quickly across his nose. That done, he looked up at the knight, the rueful note still in his voice as he said "Thank you." frayedflower am assuming that Monty is still a Page, but poke me if I have derped and I will edit

"Not a problem."
The page flashed Athene a kind, understanding smile, however soft it was, fidgeting idly from one foot to the other as he struggled against the weight of his own tongue. No reason to be anxious, he told himself, chiding his all too typical nerves. "That satchel - that must be handy to have." And what an absolutely ridiculous way to initiate a conversation with someone, really. "Very convenient, yes? - i-it didn't come wi-with you when you powered up, am I right?"
God what if he was wrong. God if he was right this conversation just got five shades sillier anyway. He tried to imagine what Methone or Aegir might do in this situation - probably crack some much more witty joke and maybe flirt a little until the ice was broken and they were talking normally with whoever this senshi was.
If only things like that came so easily to him.
"I-I'm Mont Blonc, by the way, " and he tried again, clearing his throat and straightening himself up. Then unconsciously slouching again, because this senshi was considerably smaller than him. "Page of Saturn. And you are?"

"It is a bit" Athene agreed as his lips quirked up into an answering smile, that whilst small was nonetheless friendly. "Although you're right - it didn't come with my senshi outfit." The rueful note slipped back into his voice "I think that a bag would be have been a little too practical for whoever" or perhaps it was whatever "Came up with my outfit" because Athene was well aware that it wasn't exactly practical. "But the satchel lets me carry bits and bobs with me, like a few biscuits in case I run into any mauvians and a pair of gloves and a scarf for when it gets really cold." His lips quirked up in another of his small but friendly smiles as the taller Page introduced himself "It's nice to meet you Mont Blonc" he said quietly. "You're actually the second Saturn knight I've met and I'm Sailor Athene myself. Sailor Athene, senshi of beads - although feel free to just use Athene if you want."

The smile, however small, did made him relax a bit. Mont Blonc smiled back in response, and just as ruefully, he tugged at the hem of his short shirt and flashed the senshi a sympathetic look. "If I could speak to whoever designed our uniforms, I'd probably have a few choice words, " he admitted with a soft little peal of laughter.
Treats for cats. Things for when it got cold. "You know, that's actually quite a good idea - I hadn't really considered it, I mean, bringing something to carry along." Not that he had pockets or anything, but - wouldn't it be handy to keep things like band-aids, snacks, whatever else on him for patrols? It was a wonder he hadn't really considered it before now.
His smile broadened and he tipped his head courteously to the senshi. "It's a pleasure then, Athene - you've met another knight of Saturn?" He tried to be mellow about it, but it was clear his interest was very much piqued. He was meeting more knights like him, true enough, but - they still felt so few, and he still didn't completely understand why he was so drawn to them to begin with.
Not to be rude though, asking about someone else when he'd just met Athene, he thought to ask, "Beads. That's an interesting sphere, " and that was probably the lamest possible comment to prompt more discussion but at least he'd tried so?

"It is a good idea" Athene agreed. "Although it's not one that I can claim credit for coming up with - another senshi that I know mentioned that he'd seen a senshi doing it and it seemed like such a good idea that I decided to try doing it for my own patrols" he admitted, adding "And it's turned out pretty handy." Well at least he'd found it handy.
Athene nodded in answer to the query in Mount Blonc's voice about the other Saturn knight that he'd met "Yes," he said. "His name is Niflhel - we used to be team mates together on a team called the Celestial Shepherds."
There was a slight note of fondness in his quiet voice as he mentioned the Celestial Shepherds because whilst Athene hadn't actually known Niflhel, or indeed any of the former Shepherds as well as he would have liked, he had never forgotten Polaris' kindness in letting him join the team back when he had been a floundering basic senshi and what he had seen of the team he'd liked.
His voice turned rueful at mention of his sphere "It's probably not the most intimidating sphere" because Athene was well aware that beads were not exactly scary, "But I fall under support magic-wise. My magic can trap things for a bit - or at least it can when it works."
It wasn't always a given though since he'd been lumbered with magic that seemed to have a mind of its own for all but his eternal magic.

"I might just be tempted to steal your borrowed idea, " and it was meant as a joke but who knew what anyone really thought was or wasn't funny. Handy was absolutely an understatement. He doubted sticking Lorne's phone in there would do him any favors, but there were so many other useful possibilities, especially in their line of work.
"Oh! Niflhel!" Mont Blonc brightened at the mention of the cool knight. "I know him, I - just met him not too long ago, actually - he gave out some very useful advice, about my wonder and all." As relevant or not as that was. But a mutual connection was a mutual connection after all!
Mont Blonc threw him a smile that was just as rueful as he summoned his weapon - if it could really be called that - and held out the ball point pen for the senshi to see. "At least you've got magic, " and said with a small chuckle. "I can't do much of anything for anyone as I am right now."

Athene's lips quirked up in another small smile at Mont Blonc's statement "Feel free" because it wasn't something that he minded. Not that he would have minded even if he had been the one to come up with the idea - after all it wasn't as he had the monopoly on carrying a satchel around on patrols.
The small smile was still on his lips as the other mentioned having met Niflhel himself "Oh?" It was strange sometimes how small world powered life felt, for all that it really wasn't given that there was so many of them. "I hope he's doing well." Because small world feel or not, it had been a while since he had last seen his former team mate
He drank a bit more of his latte, a part of him absently noting that the cream, syrup and sprinkles topping seemed to have mostly melted into the coffee over the course of their conversation.
The rueful note crept back into his quiet voice as he took in the pen that Mont Blonc showed him "True" he admitted "Although my magic kind of has a mind of it's own." He glanced at the pen, voice still rueful as he added "I sometimes wonder if whoever came up with the uniforms and stuff were really thinking sometimes."

Well? The page smiled and shrugged. "He seems well enough - I only just met him, but if he's typically cool, collected, and more than capable, " way more capable than Mont Blonc had ever been or expected to be in all honesty, "Then yes, he's definitely doing well."
That was sort of the first he'd heard of something like that, though, magic having a mind of its own. "If you don't mind me asking, " because curiosity had finally won out, "How so do you mean? - is it really difficult to use?"
Not for the first time, Mont Blonc wondered what the future might hold for him, that is if he ever got his own magic - which he knew he should, technically, someday, but he didn't really feel any stronger or more capable than he did starting out, bar the people around him.
As for the outfits, "Whoever did it either hated their job or had a wicked sense of humor, I'll bet you."

"Perhaps" Athene agreed his quiet voice amused. "Though if you go the hate their job route then they must have decided that misery needs company." It wasn't that he hated his outfit per se, since Athene was well aware that there was worse out there - a lot worse, however that didn't take away from the impracticality aspect. He shook his head at Mont Blonc's query about his magic, "I don't mind" he said simply, the rueful note slipping back into his quiet voice as he admitted "And it's not that it's difficult to use per se and more that it's unpredictable - when it works it can be pretty useful, but" he sighed wryly and drank some more of his latte before continuing "It doesn't always work so I try not to rely on it too much."

If Athene had been trying to make the page less curious about the difficulties of his magic, he'd failed. Thankfully, he'd already said he didn't mind, so Mont Blonc didn't feel as bad about dropping a few more questions.
"How so?" he asked, tilting his head to a side so his hair fell into his yellow eyes. "What does your magic do, exactly? - Beads are such a unique sphere to begin with..." he mused, trying to imagine what it might do. The most Mont Blonc had ever known beads to do was made nice bracelets - and be especially painful when they got underfoot.

"My base and super magic can trap things for a bit" Athene admitted. "Well at least it can when it works," a rueful note slipped into his voice as he continued "When it doesn't then it just looks pretty for a moment and then fades out without doing anything." He drank some more of the coffee mixture "My eternal magic on the other hand forms a protective barrier of sorts around people" he used it the once when Atë had tried to drop a bunch of junk down on the heads of some senshi and a Page that had been at the zoo. "It's more reliable to use than my base or super magic but also more tiring and I'm not sure it works on me" after all it hadn't on that night at the zoo, but then again it wasn't as if he had used it since then.

"I see, " which was still more magic than Mont Blonc had, of course, but he could understand how it must be frustrating, not knowing whether or not he could rely on his magic. He pursed his lips and then smiled, hopeful, color spreading across his face. "Have you - I mean you probably have, but - sparring with someone, perhaps? You know, to try and figure out the mechanics of your magic outside of combat."
He probably had. Mont Blonc didn't know his history, much less what he'd tried and hadn't tried. But he felt compelled to try and offer some sort of help, anyway. "I mean, I can't really do much, but I'd be willing to help you out? - it doesn't sound like your magic would hurt me, so - ?"

"I've done some sparring, although it's generally been for physical stuff." His quiet voice turned rueful as he admitted "I used to be a horrible fighter when I started out doing this" and that was kind of putting it mildly. "And whilst I'm still not particularly great, I'm better than I used to be." The rueful note was still in his voice as he admitted "I take aikido lessons when I'm not like this and I've gone to a few training sessions that other Order members have set up because having eternal level strength only counts for so much" and being an eternal didn't mystically turn you into a super great fighter. "I've not really tried to spar using my magic though. In fact in truth I've not really thought about it because when it does decide to work my magic's supportive and sparring tends to be a one on one thing but" he looked up as he continued "Your idea's a good one." And perhaps it would help him find out if it was just him or if there was some sort of mechanic that he'd been missing over the years. There was also the fact that it would nice to not have to keep worrying about whether it would even work when weighing up whether to try using magic.
