She could not recall now what exactly she'd said, or done, that had lead to the pair of them spending the afternoon at the mall. It must have been something good, considering how much she knew the young man disliked shopping. Something that would have come in handy the next time she hoped to get Nathan to join her in something that wasn't exactly his cup a tea. A shame she couldn't. Either way, they were there now, hand in hand, strolling down one side of the wide walkway on the main level. The petite ginger was watching the fronts of the stores as they passed them, eyeing the clothing on the mannequins, the signs for sales. All of it while her free hand slid made idle passes up and down Nate's bare forearm. "Is there anything you need while we're here?" A tip of her chin let her smile up at him, half sweet, half pleased. She had, in the months she'd been staying with him and his parents, managed to get the odds and ends she had needed, but rebuilding a wardrobe from scratch was a slow affair, especially when she didn't want to seem like she was taking advantage of her surrogate family.

Nathan was pretty sure he had found the truth behind hell. Shopping was a miserable activity, and he absolutely hated standing around awkwardly near the girl stuff, waiting for Elle to pick something out or try it on or purchase it. Girls were so... picky. And there was so much for them to pick from, no wonder it was such a hassle.
Yet she seemed to be enjoying herself, so he supposed he could deal with it. At least a little while longer.
"No, I've got clothes and stuff," Nate mumbled, his typical attitude for things like this in place. He was moody, yes, but at least he was making an effort. Really, he would do anything Elle asked him to do. That was kind of what being hopelessly in love did to him. It turned him into a puppy.
He sighed, glancing around.
"So what kind of stuff are we looking for today?"

She gave him a thoughtful sort of look at his answer, but let it go. He did have clothing, though she couldn't have said from what season they were from. Granted, she did not usually follow Nathan's particular style. For as good as the punkish fashion looked on her boyfriend, she did not think she could pull it off nearly as well. The sigh had her patting his arm. "Falls coming, but most of the clothing I have is all summery. I need some things with sleeves, and some pants." Also some leggings, and perhaps a new fall jacket if something caught her eye. Unfortunately for the young Mr. Darrow, he'd fallen for a girl that was something of a fashionista in her civilian life. At the very least, she was no long half as big a pain in the a** as she had been when she'd first been awakened into her previous court. Having to start over had mellowed her. Having to start over again was mellowing her further.

Nathan looked at her like she was speaking in another language. The whole idea that clothes had seasonality beyond 'shorts for when it is hot and long pants for when it is cold' was lost on him. He did not follow or understand trends, colors, and styles.
Really, his only personal shopping method was to find stuff he liked and stuff that looked good on him. It was pretty simple that way.
He saw lots of pants and long sleeve shirts in the shops they passed, but she had not seemed interested in any of them just yet.
"Well. Let's find you some pants and some sleeves, then," he said, with a grin. He tugged her to him and gave her a quick kiss on the head. For all his grumpiness, he was aware that there was an upside to all of this. He got to spend time with Ellie, for one, and it made her happy to do this sort of thing. It was a sacrifice he was willing to make, then.
He could suck it up and look at girl clothes like a champion, for her. At least... for like an hour.

But those weren't the right stores, Nathan. He had much to learn about shopping. Much to learn. Delicate features lit up in a bright smile as he drew her in close to lay a kiss on her head, and she slid an arm around his hips, leaning into him as they walked. "There's a few stores that have really cute jeans," she informed him happily as they continued on their way. "And they're not overly long, like most." It was a constant problem she had when it came to looking for more designer styled pants. She was slim, but she was not tall, and the pant legs tended to run long. She usually had to have them hemmed, or had to roll them. The latter only looked good with certain styles. "I think there's a Game Stop across from one of them," she mentioned, tone thoughtful. "Wasn't there a game coming out that you wanted?"

"I'm sure they're really cute," he said, though it was very difficult to hide the sarcasm in his tone. Especially when he wasn't trying to. He was a very easy to read guy, at least.
Sometimes too easy.
"I guess because you're short, pants are too long? I dunno, I've never had that problem. Most of the time, my pants fit like they're supposed to. Actually. All the time. Have you tried buying the right size?"
He grinned at her teasingly, though the promise of a game stop helped ease his mood a bit. Video games appeased him, and he was all too happy to distract himself with them.
"There's always a game coming out that I want," he laughed. Despite being infinitely busier now that he had a very defined purpose as a senshi, and a sense of responsibility, Nate still managed to find a lot of time for gaming and had gotten even more into it than he used to. It was not just FPS and horror games he focused on now, and he was happy to play anything he could.
Those would always be his favorite, though.

The sarcasm was met with a soft pinch to his side to make him twitch. She knew where he was ticklish She knew all too well. "Yes, it's because I'm so short," she answered him with a roll of her eyes, tone as flat as she could manage it through the smile that was trying to creep over her lips, despite her best efforts. "It must be so nice, being a size that's so standard." Elle had figured the promise of stopping at the game store would make the trip a little more enjoyable for him. The young man liked his games, and Elle was finding she liked to watch him play them. Even sometimes try to play as well, though she was terrible at the first person shooters, and the horror games made her jump something awful. The fighting games though, she was surprisingly good at those. She'd even managed to beat him a few times. They were nearing the store she wanted, and there, as she'd promised, the Gamestop sign across from it. She'd steer him towards the clothing store though, before he could run off to look at the new releases. They could do that together. First he was going ot have to suffer a bit for the short jokes. Though with her modeling the various jeans for him, was it really suffering? Elle looked good in denim.

Nathan wiggled in protest and surprise when she pinched him. Exposing his weakness in public and taking advantage of it! That was just rude. He would have to have his revenge later, once he thought of a good way to mess with her.
It was never a good idea to set Nate off on a revenge spree of practical jokes.
"It is. Being perfectly standard is great. Everything fits. No need to try every little thing on."
He looked up at the Gamestop entry happily, then looked at her again.
It did not surprise him that they were aiming toward the clothes first, though, and he sighed as he plodded along. He did not protest too much, though, as it occurred to him that this might be a good place for a little revenge play.

She couldn't help the satisfied little curl of lips, nor the soft, almost delicate snort that followed his retort. "You're lucky you're cute," she warned him, giving him another soft pinch as they entered the store. It was a trendy chain, higher end, if Nathan happened to glance at any of the price tags. She was, sadly, fairly spoiled when it came to, well, most things. A change of life style, twice, had not dampened her taste in things once, it had simply slowed the rate at which she went shopping. She let go of his hand so she could smooth fingers along the length of a skirt she really didn't need, but it was so pretty.Thankfully she left it where it was, mercifully walking past most of the racks to reach the back wall and the shelves of jeans that were displayed there. Ellie went immediately the rows indicating her size, browsing through what there was available. After grabbing a few pairs, she turned to look for Nathan again.

Nate grinned at her, knowing he could probably get away with anything, really. They were just that kind of couple, completely addicted to one another... even when the other was being particularly annoying. Elle had to have a pretty high patience level, of course, to put up with Nate.
His one goal in life seemed to be... being annoying.
Maybe he could learn a little here, though, he told himself. About Elle and her tastes, in case he wanted to surprise her with something later. After all, Christmas would rocket up to them, and he wanted to be able to get her something she would actually like. Or... at least try, and even if he failed she would know he put effort into it.
The thought that mattered... that was what it was.
So he did not end up wandering too far from her, watching her thoughtfully. Jeans, however, all looked the same to him. He was lost there, so he just gave her a hopeful thumbs up as she turned to him.
"Those will probably look good, you know. On the butt."

He could get away with a lot, it was true. Navi had fallen for him as senshis, as enemies, and their opposing factions had put a serious strain on a relationship they had both tried, and failed, to rebel against. In the end it had been clear, at least in her eyes(and his, she believed), that they were simply meant to be. To her surprise the young man had kept close. She gave him a stunned, albeit pleased look as she spotted him and he gave her a thumbs up, chuckling softly before the comment had her wrinkling her nose at him. Though her grin, as she turned, might have been just a touch satisfied. "I'm going to try these on really quick." A pause, then she glanced over her shoulder at him, brows arching. "Do you want to see how they look?" She could model them for him, Elle certainly didn't mind. Especialyl not if it made this all a little more fun for her boyfriend.

"Yes. I would like to see that. In fact, if you need help getting into them, I could do that too. I mean. I'm that nice of a guy, you know. Just here to help."
He grinned at her, though the comment got him a look from a nearby sales associate. Apparently they did not approve of such jokes in this establishment. Not that knowing that would stop him.
Quite the opposite, most likely.
He gallantly offered to at least carry the jeans for her, though he knew he would not be allowed into the fitting room. Even so, he would be a rapt audience when she came out to model them a bit for him. This concept of her trying things on and letting him see opened up a lot of possibilities. Some bad, like boring clothes like sweaters that he had no opinion about, and others much better.
Fun clothes with less fabric.

He was absolutely incorrigible and she loved him for it. That wicked grin was met with one of her own, though she did make a valiant attempt to keep a straight face while the sales associate was giving them an odd look. With a barely contained giggle she grabbed for Nathan's hand to pull him along towards the changing rooms. "I might, but I don't think they'll let you in with me." The idea, though, was just a little exciting. When they reached the fitting rooms Elle turned to take the jeans from Nathan's arms, but she also reached up to run the tips of painted nails along the underside of his chin, beckoning him down to her so she could lay a kiss on his lips, then murmur against them. "You can help me out of my jeans when we get home." Then she was gone, giggling as she headed into the nearest open room so she could try the jeans she'd picked out. Maybe it was finally being able to share more of their lives together, maybe it was getting to know him as a person as well as a senshi, or maybe it was just that they had so much more time together now. Regardless, it never seemed as though Elle could ever get enough of her trouble maker boyfriend.

Nate was now on the store's watch list, so he was not going to make a run for the changing room with her If he had been more subtle about things, maybe it would have been a more viable option. Subtle had never been his forte.
And it was unlikely it ever would be.
At her kiss, and the promise that came with it, Nathan decided the shopping trip was not all that bad, and that things were looking up already. He was actually rather looking forward to her finishing her shopping, if only to see and experience the results.
Putting his hands in his pockets, he shot a grin over at one of the employees that was still keeping an eye on them. They looked flustered and glanced away, and he moved to take a seat in the fitting area's waiting room.
Today was, as it turned out, a good day. Maybe shopping at the mall was something he liked to do. Who knew?
