Classes were finally over and as per usual Aella slipped off to the library to make herself useful to the librarian: checking books in and out, shelving, and just trying to help people find things. The library was the one place on campus she felt safe and happy and able to come out of her shell. She tapped on Miss Lyra's office door and dropped her bag just inside, letting the Demoness know that she was now around to help out
"I'll be up front if you need me~" Aella said brightly and then went to go start checking in books that had piled up throughout the day. She hummed very quietly to herself as she worked on this task, but it seemed that all was not entirely well, as somewhere in the center of the library, were many tables were for students to work at, someone was complaining loudly. Aella frowned and set down the wand for scanning books, and went to go see what the commotion was about.
"Everything okay?" she asked quietly as she approached a table with a rather annoyed Fallen and a little Imp freshling.
"She won't leave me alone!" the Fallen huffed pointing at the Imp. "She keeps kicking my chair and moving my things! Do something about her!"
Aella frowned, her tail swishing behind her as she looked at the Imp who seemed to be trying to have the most innocent face possible on her features. Aella bit her lower lip then offered her hand to the child. "Why don't you come with me, sweetie. Let the big kids study okay?" she smiled a bit and hoped the child would come willingly.

Kylar smirked, feeling pleased with herself as she moved the fallen's books and pencils. Even if it bothered the other, she didn't care... she was amused for the time being. When the fallen seemed to relax again, Kylar swiftly kicked at the leg of her chair. After doing that for a couple minutes, another girl walked over. She wiped the smirk off her face and put the sweetest sad face she could muster on. "I-I just... wanted to play wif the nice feather friend.." She pouted, trying to play off that it hadn't been on purpose.. even though it had been.
As the other tried to get her away from her entertainment, she put on a smile. "O-Okay... I guess.." She replied, taking her hand as starting to walk away. She turned her head after checking to see if Aella was looking then stuck her tongue out at the fallen nightmare she had just left. Her attention went back to Aella, "What are we gonna do?" She asked curiously.

Aella slowly started back up towards the front of the library, and then detoured off towards the area were more Freshling friendly books were. "Well...umm..." What were they going to do? Aella had not thought this through the entire way and now the confident demeanor that only manifested itself in the library was starting to crumble. "We should introduce ourselves first, right?" that was a good place to start.
She went over to one of the little couches and let the Freshling climb up on to one and then sat down on her knees in front of her. "Umm...well...I'm...I'm Aella. I'm a junior, and...I work in the library to help out Miss Lyra." she said offering the child a small smile.
She'd of course read some psychology books, and some books about childhood development, but when it came to putting that knowledge into practice Aella found boarding on drowning. Was she boring the girl? What could she do to be more interesting? Think, Aella, think... "Do...you like story books?" she asked hopefully.

Kylar followed the older girl and crawl into the couch to sit. She wanted to introduce each other?...why? "Ellie?" She asked as she tilted her head. She heard what the other had said but she wanted to have a little fun. She hoped she would repeat herself. She pointed to herself, "Kylar." She was considering skittering off, certain she could outrun the other female when she mentioned a story.
The freshman's eyes perked up, "Story?" She asked before smiling big. Maybe the other wasn't as boring as she had thought. "I like books... good books!" She clarified before looking around to all the books. "Does onna these have a princess that isn't stupid in it?" She asked curiously.

Aella frowned. She was fairly certain the child was toying with her by mispronouncing her name. Honestly though it wasn't that far from her name, so it wasn't that big of a deal. She smiled and nodded. "Sure you can call me Ellie if you like~" no better way than to throw off a kid than to allow them their mistake and accept it. Least she hoped. Was she being too enabling? She didn't think so, so she left it at that.
Aella wasn't sure what qualified as a non-stupid princess but that shouldn't be impossible. "Sure. Uh...how old are you?" she wanted to make sure her selection was appropriate and didn't get into anything she might get herself in trouble for telling a child, or the girl in trouble for knowing. While she waited for the answer she figured out a few possible selections.

Kylar internally frowned when the other didn't play into the name thing. Since she agreed on Ellie, she'd just call her Ellie from now on! She had hoped that she could mess with Aella longer but oh well, she'd find some other way.... AFTER she was done reading some books to her. The trouble making imp crossed her arms, "How old do ya think I am?" She asked with a devious grin, not planning on actually telling her even if she guessed right.
Kylar happened to look over to the children's books to see one of her favorite books but she had to hold it in. Especially since she wanted to mess with Aella before her story now... with the age thing but the book.. It was practically calling her name. She huffed, giving in. "I wan ya to read that book!" She said as she pointed to a book. (I'd be something like Mulan)

Aella sized up the freshling. She wasn't very good at guessing ages and she'd probably be wrong, but from the child's demeanor the odds were rather high that even if she was right, Kylar might tell her she was wrong anyway. "I'm going to say, nine." that was maybe a touch high, but the meticulous teasing method, the obvious thought put into mispronouncing her name, all pointed to a much higher elevated level of thinking than say, a six year old. Of course Kylar could be advanced for her age, but maybe a little flattery would soften up the "tough" demeanor.
Aella glanced over at the shelf, she wasn't quite sure which book the girl was pointing at and tilted her head slightly in order to better line up with the pointing claw. "Hmm...that is a good book, but I was thinking..." she got up and walked over and pulled down the book she'd had in mind when Kylar stated she wanted a smart princess, but retrieved the one the girl wanted as well. "This one." she said showing the girl the cover. "It's about a princess who is smart and clever and runs away to live with a dragon and helps stop a group of wizards, who have an evil plan. Which would you rather read?" she said offering up both books.

Kylar smirked, "Wronnnng! I'm young than nine!" She told her. She wasn't lying, she was seven not nine. She smiled a bit as she saw Aella pick up the book she wanted, excited that she'd get to read it again. Her smile was replaced when she saw her go for another book, about to protest in a big way when she explained the other book.
Kylar's jaw dropped in awe, "That one!!! Thattttt one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Aella!!!" She exclaimed as she bounced in her sleep. What is more awesome than a Princess living with DRAGONS! She couldn't hold back any of her excitement, waiting for the other to sit before crawling into her lap. She smiled brightly up to her then to the book.

Ah, so just a more advanced thinker then, well, that was acceptable. Would be nice if she turned her devious little mind to better use, but perhaps with time she'd become more constructive. It often seemed that children who liked to play pranks had too much free time and not enough interesting things to occupy them. Either that or she perhaps had an overworked caretaker who didn't have as much time for her and therefore the pranking was a cry for attention. "Well you're very smart for your age, then." Aella said sweetly.
Aella saw the near protest when she produced not just the requested book, but one of her own choosing. She had to hide a smile though as her suggestion won through. Who didn't like a book with dragons in it after all~. She sat back down on the little sofa and was surprised when the freshling crawled into her lap. She'd expected her to sit next to her, not on her, but she adjusted slightly and then opened the book, cleared her throat and began the first chapter entailing the princess's attempts at being not very princess-y and trying to learn things like fencing, magic and cooking, much to the disapproval of her parents, and her eventual decision to run away when her parents decided to attempt to marry her off to a very dull prince.

Kylar was surprised the other complimented her, especially since she hadn't exactly been nice to her. She settled more into Aella's lap, curling into her as she started to read the book. She didn't say much while the other was reading but her facial expressions were priceless. After the other had been reading a while, Kylar yawned tiredly and rubbed her eyes. It had been a long day and the book was perfect for what she usually liked to read but she was exhausted. Not to mention the other was quite comfortable!
Nodding off a bit, Kylar smiled and gently held onto Aella clothing. She tried to hard to stay awake, wiggling a bit and making her eyes widen a few times. She tiredly looked to Aella then back to the book. She wondered why this lady was so nice to her... The thought was short, she didnt want to get close to anyone.. they'd just leave like her parents did.

Aella kept glancing down and smiling a bit to herself. Evidently the savage beast could be tamed. She reached the end of chapter two and was about to call it, when the dinner bell sounded over the intercoms. "Oh, well I guess we can't go any further today." Aella said pretending as if her small charge wasn't fall asleep, after all she put on this tough exterior therefore she must not ever get tired or want to be cuddly. Or she could be totally wrong...this was her first experience with trying to deal with a small child on her own.
"Do you want me to walk you to your dorm group for dinner or will you be okay on your own?" she said letting the freshling shift and get out of her lap so she could get up. "I'd be happy to walk you there." she smiled and nodded.

Kylar's eyes shot open as the bell rang, looking to Aella as she spoke. The young imp stretched then hopped off of the other. "Oh.. I.." She thought for a moment, if she had Aella walk her back then she would probably tell her caretaker about her behavior! Can't have that! She thought as she rubbed her neck. "Uhh.. I can handle it." She told the older girl. She nibbled her bottom lip and smushed at the ground shyly with her little foot. "Can I... Maybe come back tomorrow and have you read more for me?" She asked, hoping the other said yes. Her caretaker was far too busy to read to her or even play games with her. For a moment, a small sad moment, Kylar thought of her parents... How they left and just never came back. She remembered hitting the people who took her from her house then refusing to talk to the people who tried to help her. People that wanted to know what happened. Just as quick as the sadness came, it also quickly left. She hid her insecurity with a small smile. "I promise I won't missay your name!" She bargained.

Aella stood up and fixed her skirt that had gotten slightly mussed from having the child in her lap. "That's fine." she said with a smile. Actually the idea of tattling on the child hadn't even crossed her mind, after all no harm done and no one had gotten overly mad or caused a scene.
Aella blinked and then nodded. "I'd like that." she said softly. "I'll be here after classes are over, but you'll have to let me have a little time to help Miss Lyra with library duties, but we should have at least an hour before dinner to read some more of the book." she smiled and then laughed a bit. "I honestly meant it, I don't mind if you wanted to call me Ellie." she said. "It's cute." she was about to add that no one ever really considered her cute, but that was something she didn't need to burden the child with, it was something that would probably be over their head anyway.
"Do you need to get anything before you go to dinner? A bag or anything?" she asked starting back towards the check out desk to hide the book they were reading under the computer so it wouldn't get checked out.

Kylar smiled up to the other, "Okay! I'll call you Ellie then!" The young imp nodded to her, happy that she had agreed to read for her again. She would certainly come by again tomorrow! "Okay, I'll be here tomorrow then.." She confirmed, bouncing about happily. She was really surprised that Aella agreed to see her the next day, maybe not all grown ups were bad... Ellie certainly seemed really kind and quite crafty!
Kylar shook her head at Ellie's question, following her to the front desk, "Just gotta grab my bag... See you tomorrow!" She said with excitement as she snagged her backpack and took off.

Aella smiled and her tail swished happily at the child's decision to use the nickname they'd unintentionally dubbed them with. It seemed...right somehow for the child to call her something different. She really couldn't put her finger on why it was so right though. Maybe she didn't need to worry about it. "Okay." she nodded affirming their meet up for tomorrow.
She went behind the desk and hid the book, waving as the Imp freshling got her bag and took off. "See you tomorrow, Kylar." she said with a wave and then went to retrieve her bag from Miss Lyra's office and make her own way to dinner.
