Our world was a lot like yours once. We had lush fields of flowers, deep forests with canopies so thick as to block out the sun. Rivers of cool, clear water running into endless oceans. The land teemed with flora and fauna, all under a pure blue sky.

The stories of what our world once was have been passed down for 5 generations. The last of us who remember the sun will soon be gone. Fading away with time. Perhaps in the land after this, they will feel its warmth again, and gaze upon the face of light itself.

In the stories, once upon a time came a shadow. A cloud dark on the horizon, a sign of a coming storm. The cloud inched closer and closer to the sun. Eventually, it blocked it out completely, choking the warmth and life from it. When the last rays were suffocated, the world was enveloped in thundering chaos. Our sun was shattering. A thousand tiny pieces rained down upon our lands. Mountains were flattened. The ground was scorched and pockmarked with the scars of impact. And the fires. The fires that swept the lands from shore to shore. Nothing could stop them. After the fires came the quakes. Fissures opened up in the stones like snakes across the continents. And in them, the rivers, lakes, ponds, even the mighty oceans were drained. The world was being eaten alive by the remnants of its own beloved sun.

Our world was a barren wasteland, all life seemingly lost. But not completely. In the early days of the raining sun, a shield was created to protect the last bastion of life. Only within we have light and green. A chance to live. If only on numbered days.

For in the dark and death of outside the Oasis, something else flourishes. We call them the Shades. From a distance, they are merely shadows. But once they see you, they strike into your heart, taking the form of the being you fear most. An exact copy, in power and temperament. The Shades answer to only one being. The darkness we call the Destroyer. He who killed our sun.

The Destroyer holds the key to our destruction, and salvation. But we cannot face him alone. The same force who created our Oasis has summoned heroes from all the worlds to help. They arrive out in the wastes, with the simple task to find us. But…none ever have. Every time, the shades find them first. And our heroes are never heard from again.

If you find yourself in our world, come find us, before they find you.

The beginning

In the embers of a dying world, small shimmers of hope dot the desolate landscape. Not the first, likely not the last, but a number among those stolen from their home worlds to save this one. Chosen by whatever being still protects the last bastion of humanity to remain. Chosen to be the champions of a dying race, to save the planet before the darkness swallows all.

For our heroes, it would be a sudden and unstoppable force that takes them. A portal opens beneath their feet, and swallows them instantly. There is no time to fight it. No time to react. Only blinding, dizzying light before being trust into darkness.

Our heroes will be thrown into the wastelands. Some close to each other, some separated by miles and miles of nothing. There will be no one where with them from this world to lead them. No one to help them on their way. No way to go back. Even those who can bend space and time will feel as though they come up against a brick wall if they try to leave the world.

Only one thing will be left with the heroes to start them on their journey. A dim awareness that somewhere in this wasteland is an oasis they must find if they wish to survive. And the knowledge that the only way home is to succeed.

Evie…couldn't exactly remember what happened. First she was screaming in Nasrin's head, fighting for control back while Nasrin walked down the streets of Romania looking for the first plane back to the Mad Man. And suddenly there was a blinding light before the dark, and the shared body landed face first on hard packed earth. The shock of it all was enough to catch Nasrin off guard, letting Evie get back control first thing.

Getting up slowly, Evie dusted herself odd and took a look at her new surroundings. Nothing. For as far as the eye could see it was just bare land bathed in the darkness of a starry sky. A cold chill ran down her back as she turned in every direction. Nothing, nothing, and more nothing. But…how? It was like being the middle of the dessert but…not.

"Is this your friend Cheshire's idea of a joke?" A irritated voice asked in Evie's head.

Evie could feel Nasrin sulking, having lost control again. "No…this isn't Chesh…" Evie spoke out loud, shivering again. Evie wasn't even sure Chesh could bring people with him when he shifted from place to place (usually forgetting his head in the process). "Should I ask if this is your Mad Man's idea of the perfect trap?"

"Why would he need to trap us when I was in the process of going back to him on my own? Though…transporting us would make it a little quicker." Not that the Mad Man ever bothered before. He was too busy for trivial things like that.

Evie groaned audibly. "Come on then…there should be shelter around here somewhere…" Evie felt that too be true. Though she couldn't actually explain how. Just that somewhere out here, there was a place she needed to find. And she wasn't going to find it by standing here talking to the voice in her head.

"It would be faster to fly…"

"Shut up."

Alias loved pancakes. In the 3000 years that Alias has walked the earth, they never found a food they liked quite so much as a big stack of pancakes, just drowning in maple syrup and strawberries. What Alias did not love, was being denied pancakes. So imagine their dismay when they were sitting on the kitchen counter, waiting for a friend and fellow keeper to finish cooking said pancakes, when a burst of light took over Alias's vision and they suddenly found themselves sitting instead in the dirt, in some place very very dark.

Alias stood and dusted the dirt from their long black robes. They adjusted the stone and metal mask so they could better see, as it had become dislodged on landing. Well…this was new. 3364 years of life, it was very hard to surprise Alias anymore. Especially when one was privy to most mortal secrets of the earth.

Here though….Alias wasn't quite sure it was earth. They had seen all of earth. And this was the most un earth like place they had seen. Their eyes moved skyward then, looking for a familiar pattern among the stars. Alias knew what the sky was supposed to look like. That…was not it. It was all wrong. All the stars were in the wrong places.

The demon of secrets shifted uncomfortably in Alias. They didn't like not knowing. Being left in the dark was not something it was used to. With a soft sigh, Alias started walking forward. There was something they had to do to go home. They just hoped that they would get home before the pancakes got cold.

"This time I've got you" Mumbled the soft words from furry lips. His butt wagging rhythmically back and forth following up to his long tail. He gently moved forward furry paws padding against the tree trunk.

Three... Two... One... Go!

He pounced forward leaping from the leaves of the trees towards an unsuspecting brown fuzzy nemesis. Acorns fell to the ground as the enemy leaped from the branch landing on another leaving the pouncing critter to smack head first into the firm trunk of the tree. Slowly the cat shook his head back and forth the white flash that filled his eyes making him blink. He fell backwards his head hitting a hard surface.

"You win this round Rebecca!" He shook a furry paw upward in disdain to his squirrely enemy as his vision came into view. Confusion quickly filled his already clouded mind as he stared up into a black night sky.

"Oh no!..." He said as he slowly stood up, his tiny kitty body resting now on firm rock. "They've mastered teleportation technology!!!!" He screamed up at the sky.

Typical Cheshure... As lovable as he was stupid....

~~~~~~~~~~~~
The rhythm of the drums beat behind her, the pounding of feet echoing percussion throughout all who saw her. Standing on a small stage a young woman, draped loosely in veils and golden decor. Her flowing hair bellowed behind along with her clothes her as if she were submerged in water. Her eyes closed as the rhythm of the percussion and soft choir chiming in with perfect timing. She opened her eyes with a fluid motion as she began to dance. Her motions leaving wisp like trails of glowing light with every subtle shift of her body. Her song aggressive yet illusive in nature. She spun the lights flashing brightly for a moment as she stamped her foot onto the stage. Her audience consisted of bestial people, many of whom smiled watching her perform. Her voice echoing throughout the area, every lyric filling the minds of those enraptured by her song. She spun once more her clothes and hair still floating weightless around her giving her an almost unworldly appearance. Her pristine ivory skin as beautiful as the full moon. Soft glistening scales could occasionally be spotted on her exposed flesh.
As with all performances hers to had to come to an end. With a dramatic flurry she swung her veil from her waist quickly wrapping it around herself. In a flash of light the music suddenly stopped dazzling the crowd. However, where once stood their draconian beauty now only empty space resided.
Spinning on the ball of her foot she whipped the cloak away from her body, opening her eyes only to find not the praise of people but the emptiness of the landscape to greet her.
"What?!" She proclaimed confused and scared. She spun around, uncertain and frightened before she stumbled falling to the rough ground. She grunted, thankfully she had fallen on her veil escaping any minor harm or mess. She slowly stood up the chill of the night air causing her to shiver. She clasped her hands over her arms looking around again now more frightened than curious. "H-Hello!?" She called out, greeted only by the sound of her own echo calling back to her.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

His lungs quickly stole gasps of biting air. The sudden sound of a high pitch zip of a bullet flying past him ricocheting away into the dark. His eyes opened wide as he caressed a small bundle of tightly wrapped sheets to his chest. He felt his heart race as more and more gun shots rang out perpetuating the ringing that stung his mind and filled his ears. He ground his teeth tightly before reaching down finishing fastening the last strap of the black metal boots that now adorned his feet. Pressing his free hand against the splintering bark of the tree for support he slowly stood up. Taking a breathe he filled his lungs with one last precious breathe before shooting out from behind the tree. Running forward he leap up raising his legs to his chest he kicked outward his heels finding their mark against the metallic surface of a militant looking soldier, carrying a semiautomatic rifle. With the click of the hammer a metallic boom escaped the barrels of the boots firing off shotgun shells into the gun. He closed his eyes tight his teeth clenched so tightly he was in danger of cracking a tooth.

Without opening his eyes he felt his feet land on the firm ground. He stumbled forward not opening his eyes. Instead he merely curled around the bundle clenching it tightly to him. He shuddered softly waiting for the sound of gunfire to herald his death sentence.

However no such heralding came to pass. He slowly opened one eye then the other staring not a the dense forest pass he has just been in, now staring down at the remains of some long forgotten street. He blinked, staring blankly down into the cracked tar and asphalt, where was he? He looked around the cool air hitting him next sending a familiar chill up his spine. He shivered slightly suddenly allowing himself to relax. He let out the breathe held far to long in exhaling loudly as he looked down at the tiny bundle held in his arms. "Well... I suppose this beats armed guards, doesn't it Noelle?" He laughed lightly. Pulling the bundle from his chest he smiled down at the tiny form of a baby girl her soft smile and curious hands reaching out gripping his finger in their tiny grasp.

People live and die. Trees, plants, flowers, grow and wither. He lives, and it kills. There is life, and then there is it, him. In one moment, as in all moments before that, everything was in balance. There was life, growth, and then there was he, and the withering. They sung, and it listened. Now, suddenly there was he, and silence. The unnatural circumstance had him neglect completely whatever he had been doing just before.

For even in Hades they sung, even in Hades did Thanatos and the others dwell. Even in Hades did the crop of anguish grow and the river of death flow. Here, there was ... seemingly, simply nothing. Something had been, they knew, but it had died.. Long ago. Nothing sung, nothing beckoned, nothing answered it's hunger. No life, only it, only him. The other side ... It did not exist. He was cut off, it was cut off; like a leech yanked off it's source of lifeblood, they were left, for the first time in millennia, without nutrition.

A well-dressed young boy with out-of-place blue hair stood still. His wide blue eyes, like the moon reflecting off the sea, gazed wide with horror into nothing. Literally, at the sheer nothingness that faced him, that faced them. In an otherwise barren and dusty land he stood out as the one thing alive. They did not smell, see, hear, feel anything beyond the ground under their feet. It was so.. Human. The very notion terrified them both.

"ZEUS,"
the boy screamed for long, breaking the eerie silence. "HADES," he continued, and only received a reply in his head. 'Is it the box?' "POSEIDON, I challenge you! I oppose your might, face me! L-look at what I have wreaked upon this earth," 'Is this the box?' The message got through, and the boy experienced flashbacks of an age thousands of years ago, of the box. And Pandora.
"Shut. Up. The war... It's not, this... No, no it isn't. She cannot have, no, it isn't possible. He wouldn't allow it." 'But, then..' "Do. Not." 'This is...' "Zeus, this was not as agreed! ZEUS!" 'Tartarus.' "NO!"

"Yes," the boy's voice was suddenly calm, his face relaxed, and he lifted a hand to his throat. It felt raw from the shouting, and hearing his voice with his ears instead of ringing in a sea of consciousness felt unnatural. Aiden looked at the palms of his small hands through his own eyes, instead of from behind them. Past them was the ground. It reminded him of a battlefield scorched by Greek fire, dark, dusty, plenty of brown and gray. He knelt down and felt the earth, digging his fingers through it. The soil was dry, mere sand and mud. "It must be, and you ..." 'Be silent and stand aside, withdraw, die, return, let me out.. die, kill something.' "No. You have no power here. Not over me." '... Wait. Smell that?' "... Ignore it. You will not go close. You feel it too, anyway. We have to ... go." With those words echoing away in the wind, Aiden's gaze lifted to the direction straight ahead of them. In the horizon was nothing but dimness their sight could not penetrate. Yet, something told them to go there, right there.

The boy's legs straightened, he adjusted his jacket, and started to take short steps forward. With every step he almost stumbled, and had to come to a stop with a scoff. "You have not let me use these legs in a long time. We're... We are really short." 'There are more. It's an echo. There are more!' "Yes, and I wish I could keep away..." '...But they go the same way as we.' A desperate eagerness grew within the demon inside, and it bothered his human companion.

"You know who is in charge. If it is Tartarus. He will not let you do that."
'Mortals concern him not. A meal is a meal.' "His meal. Like his children. Aren't you afraid?" The voice was silent. Aiden's left hand attempted to grip a non-existent object from his waist. "I wish I had a sword." Hearing his own voice was a weak encouragement in this instant. 'Chronos is not hindered by such a mortal concept, fool. Go. I grow hungry.' Nor was he particularly motivated by the demon's bloodlust.. But something else insisted they move. It was calling.

Aiden hesitated, but then stepped forward, trying to be careful with his feet. Immediately came the shout; 'WRONG!' And then the withdrawal of his mortal senses. After a flash of blackness in his bright blue eyes they switched. Aiden smiled mischievously, and instead of walking, he teleported.

The Keeper, as he was entitled, landed on the faint remains of a path of asphalt. A very human street, and the first sign of civilization. The human mind attempted to fit this into their understanding of where they thought they were. The demon stared, almost drooling, at the two humans ahead of them. Those tiny, tiny hands reaching out to the adult... Budding life, it would be so.. so cruel.. and delicious, and it was screaming at him. Kill. Kill. Kill. 'Stop. This is withdrawal. You will not resist, but I can.' And the human could, a little, and in response Aiden took a short, quick breath that announcing their presence.

With a shake of his head, the boy's face became one of confused innocence, a practiced mask. Dusty hands pushed a few strands of hair from his fair face and the boy spoke up; "H-hi?" Quietly he greeted them, while taking falsely hesitant steps towards the duo. His eyes did not leave the bundle of cloth in the man's arms. 'Stop!' It would not, and in that same second Death appeared beside the adult human, his hands grasping the man's coat. The boy tugged, and then tugged again... To no avail. What odd fabric, the demon and human thought, as if it defied all logic; and he tugged a little more. The human would not budge, the fabric did not tear. Aiden's face had taken on an eerie and eager smile, which now became uncertain, and then faded, and he looked up at the man with utter, honest confusion. 'Oh sh*t you are actually weak, and you just touched a disguised Titan or something.' "Shut up. He's just..." '... They sense your intent, you are punished for this.' "Shut up." Aiden's face became fearful, and he let go of the stranger's jacket. The boy took slow steps backwards, while waiting for... Whatever might come. Titans were taller, surely. They would not look human. Could they? Both human and demon debated this, and seconds felt like hours in that moment as they expected to be stomped on. Neither cared, or had truly realized, they had obviously teleported, pulled on the guy's coat to no effect, and then told him to apparently shut up. Twice.

Three years, two months, 3 weeks, and now another additional day. That was the length of time that Rika had been stuck in this hellhole, away from everything she knew and loved. Appearing in the middle of nowhere without any sort of rhyme or reason on a dead planet was not something she took very kindly to. She made the most of it though, her position in the military and her skill in vehicular and ground combat set her up nicely with a "job." If one could call driving a souped up Mustang through the wasteland hoping to find someone and not get killed by the Shades a job. She had appeared next to the vehicle when she first got transported to wherever she was. it was in fairly bad shape but she knew enough to get it running and the lights inside and on it saved her from the Shades. She managed to make it to the Oasis and get her car repaired and retrofitted, fixed up and powered up. With the addition of several different kinds of weaponry, armor and several light kits with redundant generators powered by the vehicles twin engines, she was armed for a one woman war against the Shades. Of course what she got was a lot of lonely driving and the occasional good Samaritan deed, saving those who got brought here before the Shades got to them. Really it was the only way to keep herself sane after so long. They didn't have the kind of medical tech or supplies to keep her stocked in medication, so she focused on the work at hand, burning off her anger in a four wheeled death machine and doing what she figured Seren would want her to do if returning wasn't an option: help save lives.

Today, as with most days, was a very uneventful day aside from the Shades, which were never that troublesome unless she was running out of light power. However, the sight on the horizon was welcome, yet unexpected in the monotony of things. A woman had apparently been whisked away from wherever she called home and plopped into a desert. She didn't know it yet, but she was about to be swarmed by Shades. Rika revved her engines and floored the gas pedal, the sound of her "V16" echoing across the landscape as she stormed towards the woman. She quickly reached the girl and hit the switch to open the passenger side door as she rides up next to her. "Get in!" She shouts at her as she cranks the lights on the car, turning everything to the max as she waits for the newbie to jump in.

Freeeedom. Freedom from babysitting and watching kids. Freedom from a nagging but lovable funny bunny. Freedom from----- not a certain red haired stop sign. The blonde William DeScythe wasn't going to bother questioning Scyther why Armand was sealed in his wedding ring of all things. At least, it prevented the red head from doing certain other stuff. At this moment, le blonde ruler of hell, the devil of owls, the one Hades who stole a Persephonerena, and whatever other names this dude is called, oh, and let's insert more epithets to make this a really bad run on sentence... - was watching/babysitting a certain red dragon named Armand. "So, I let you out because you whine too much and then you decide you want to make pancakes? How cliche."

"Mmmhmmm~" The red cat sized dragon nodded as it expertly stirred a ginormous amount of homemade batter.

"And you're going to subsist on pancakes for a whole f-ing year with that amount. Hell, you could feed all of hell if the denizens didn't prefer other things." A pancake splatted onto Will's face.

"Pancakooed!" Mandy dragon snorted as he grilled more pancakes with Will's awesome kitchen at the expense of Will's cream pancake filled face. Clearly, pie was not the only thing that could be used to splat people in the face.

"...."

"Nope. Da plan is to feed everyone~ enough to go around the world and fly on magic pancakes!"

"Uh huh...sure..." Nuts. The red haired mage was nuts, even by Will's book. But the pancakes smelled soooo good that it was damning. Sure, why not? He could make it a sin to eat Armand's pancakes. Then, more people would go to hell.

"Hey ...do good. Food makes the world go round! X3 After all, you neer know when you'll go poof!" the red haired mage chirped as he expertly lifted a plate with a giant stack of pancakes on it.

And poof they did down a portal rabbit hole....to a place far far away in a galaxy that has yet to be named...

"...Armand. You planned that," Will sputtered accusingly as he lifted his face out of a pile of dirt and dusted himself off. The devil hmphed as his eyes turned upward at the dragon perched on his head posing like a ballet dancer with the giant stack of pancakes. The dragon, however, merely chirped innocently. It was dark, but that didn't matter to Will. For the most part, his vision was fine in the dark. Everything was dark int he area, as if the life had been sucked out. A wasteland perhaps? No anything new to Will though. However, the place didn't feel familiar, so he had not been to this particular place before. "Where did you take us, Mandy brat?"

"Look, a person~" Armand dragon chirped, pointing toward Alias in the distance. The tantalizing delicious smell of the dragon's pancakes would certainly waft in the general direction of Alias as well as the general area around them.

The bright lights of the city below were shining even brighter than the moon itself and as ember placed her hand over her eyes she could still hear the horrendous hustle and bustle of the poor insignificant people rushing and screaming below, some sloppy musician played in the streets and everything started to get to Ember as her head ache began to set in. A groan and growl of pain escaped her lips and her left hand dropped to the floor next to her and haphazardly searched for the half empty bottle of vodka sitting next to the fire wielders head. She nursed at the bottle for a moment until the headache faded and she could think clearly again.
"******** this s**t" she burps as she sits up slowly and stands, finding herself on the roof of an apartment complex she might have taken the booze from the night before. New years was a pretty cool time of year, no one missed a few bottles of booze missing while the fire works went off.. or was it independence day? Ember couldn't remember where she was now, but a glance at the large sake bottle in her hand she gave a chuckle. "right, Chinese new year" she did like the Asian culture, their fireworks shows always felt good to her, a chance to let loose, they didn't question a few extra bursts of light in the sky or off rooftops here and there. "like i said before, happy new year" She chuckles as she downs the bottle of rice wine and drops the glass.
Everything began to sway right after that, a little surprised ember blinked i confusion. Did i just... what was in that drink... she could feel herself stumbling a bit before the vortex makes her fall, This wasn't like any black out Episode she had ever experienced before, drugs? maybe? this didn't happen the night before? She fell and landed on a blackened and soft ground, landing on her feet but loosing her balance and falling to her face, receiving a mouth full of dirt. "i'm getting too ******** old for this" she sputters as she picks herself off the ground and drags herself to her feet, there was an absence of noise... and light for that matter, like she had been transported to a different place all together. "hello!? ANYBODY THERE?" She shouted to try and get the attention of something or someone. "hellooooo? some one drag me here for some reason? Id like some answers" it was eerie the silence and the darkness, eerie enough to get on her nerves, raising her hand she lit a flame to light the area around her.

Instead of a chair the Professor had a lounge and a couch so he could comfortably sit in his own quarters. It was tea time, he always liked the idea of it, a rather sofisitcated human practice he found rather charming. No matter what was going on or what hectic things life was throwing in their way, some of these humans stopped everything just to have a snack and sip some tea.
Suddenly out of nowhere everythign goes dark and the professor finds himself falling to the floor with a thud. "Daryle? is that you!" He quickly gets to hs feet, holding his hands out to prevent from falling or try to at least hold off the pies or pillows or other assortment of pranks that might be tossed at him while he is blinded. the ground however didnt feel right under his hoves, rather... it was too soft and... dead to him. "where... where am i? a-anyone out there!?"

Meia quite happily hadn't seen Will all day. She had no idea where he might have gone off to, and she had no intention of asking. It was a blissful, quiet, peaceful. Cerbs was fed. Serena was gone shopping. Even Seb was nowhere to be seen. Meia had spent a full uninterrupted hour curled up on the couch in a patch of sunlight, napping away to the smell of pancakes. Why pancakes? She had no idea. And again she was not asking.

She should have known it was too good to last very long. Somewhere in the middle of dreams of chasing birds, and having her soul back, Meia got that sudden feeling of falling. It wrenched her from her dream and she found that she was in fact…actually falling.

"YAOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!" The fox came to a very sudden stop in a very dark spot. There was something furry under her, and she could smell cat.

Hissing sharply, Meia leaped off bared her fangs at mysterious furry creature. "Who are you? Why am I here? And…." Meia looked around her darkened surroundings. "Damnnn Will is not going to be happy if I'm missing when he gets back." Cerbs was supposed to have a bath today. Cerbs was not a happy puppy when he missed his bath, and Will was not a happy puppy owner when Meia forgot parts of her job. "Bah how to get out of here?" Experimentally, Meia pawed the ground. While, a new portal wasn't just opening up. "Yep…Will is going to lengthen my contract for this."

Alias was wondering if they were perhaps just really…really hungry. Here they were, in the middle of nowhere, smelling pancakes. Their stomach grumbled uncomfortably at the thought. Alias's pancakes were probably almost done. All warm and drizzled with maple goodness. The small robed form sighed. Well…the pancakes would still be waiting for them when they got home.

Or…sooner than that. Alias was starting to get that buzzing in their head. The faint sound like whispers mixed with bees. "Secrets….so many…." And so concentrated. Alias turned their head towards the sound of secrets and the smell of pancakes to see two small forms in the close distance. The stone and metal mask on their face shifted a little as if in a smile. Thank goodness, people.

"Hello there!" Alias's soft voice wafted directly into the minds of the two beings. Seemingly human and dragon. Or…no not quite dragon. Alias picked up their speed, catching up with the other two. "William DeScythe. And Armand. You may call me Alias." The tiny teenage sized form bowed their masked head respectfully, just sort of knowing that Will at least spent some time in Japan and was familiar with their customs.

Alias might have said something more, but their gaze immediately went to the giant stack of pancakes in Armand's hands. "Ooooooh pancakes?! Can I have some please?! Pretty pretty please?!" Alias's voice chimed in both their heads. The small person was practically jumping. But then….they got a hold of themselves again, and cleared their throat out loud. "Excuse me….I mean….I see you have food. And I was hoping you would be willing to share with a poor….hungry…person?"

Evie walked for some time in general silence. Nasrin had stopped offering suggestions and was sulking somewhere in the back of Evie's mind. Evie, after the general shock of being here, was starting to worry.

Last thing she knew was leaving the hotel in Romania. Irian would be left there alone, waiting for her to come back and she just….wouldn't. Would he be worried? It was hard to tell with Irian really. Evie liked to think she could call him a friend, but she was thoroughly convinced he had a completely different opinion on the matter. Nasrin just hated his living guts and was glad to be out of his company. Mostly because, in Irian's company, Nasrin didn't exist. Long story.

Uncertain of anything except for a desire to get home, Evie just kept walking. It wasn't long before she heard something. The rumbling hum of a muscle car. A mustang? She turned towards the sound, and sure enough a mustang was kicking up a cloud of dust while heading in Evie's general direction.

The gorgeous, albeit outlandish, car slid to a stop mere feet from Evie and the door swung open revealing a young woman with a wild gleam in her eye.

Evie jumped back, "Wh-who are you?" She asked, eyeing the car. She was torn between running away, jumping in, and asking to drive. She made a hesitant step forward. "Do you….do you know where I am?"

While Evie hesitated, she had no way of knowing that just over the horizon, dark forms were headed her way. Like shadows across an already dark landscape, they were coming.

Nathaniel Kenneth Griffon
&
Noelle Cardes

He took a few steps forward, the sound of cracking pavement and rustling dirt beneath his boots offering some noise in the silence of the world. He looked around, Noelle now gently clutching his his shoulder as her tired eyes slowly relaxed allowing her to escape into a dream world where no one could enter. He gently bobbed her up and down stroking her warm back with his free hand. What was this place? Certainly a different atmosphere than what he had just escaped from. Though he did not miss the sounds of gun fire and the barking of guard dogs. But how did they get here? More importantly what were they going to do to survive? Noelle needed to eat soon... He wondered if her powers still worked in this world an for that matter if his did as well. He would have to attempt to build a shelter later, for now he did not want to merely stand idle.

After a few minutes of walking the emptiness of the world truly became apparent. The faint sound of a piece of a decrepit building finally collapsing under its weight falling to the ground with a tumble forgotten and discarded by the people who once called it home.

"What sort of place is... Was this?" He mumbled.

"H-Hi?"

He spun around his hand instinctively going up covering Noelle's back. Instead of a beast he saw only a child, confused and dusty though not as much so as the surroundings. Was he a civilian of this forgotten world, or another traveler spirited away from their world? The boy reached out grabbing his coat Nathaniel opened his mouth to speak but the boy retracted his hand taking a few nervous steps away from him. He blinked a bit unsure of how to handle the situation. He took a breathe, thinking back to how he handled these sort of situations back in his residency.

"Shut up."

He raised an eyebrow, then knelt down on the ground still bouncing Noelle gently over his shoulder. Her lips moving slightly as she gentle rubbed her closed eyes. "Are you ok?" He asked looking the boy in the eye. He held a soft spot in his heart for children. Whether this boy was a survivor of a civilization now in ruins or another wanderer thrown into a new world unlike his own it didn't really matter. Nathaniel smiled lightly, though confused and still unsure of the world around them he could not simply leave this boy to wander these wastes. "Let's go find somewhere to rest, ok?" He asked standing back up. Smiling again he offered his name. "My name is Nathaniel, but you can call me Nate."

Radiant Grey

She wrapped her veil around her arms the cloth providing some comfort to the cold. She certainly was not dressed for the cold. What had happened to the warmth of her nation? The crackling fire the warm summer nights where had they all gone? She could hear the sound of the wind blowing through hollow forgotten structures. The land beneath her feet dead from years of neglect. Now a pale ashy white it looked as though she could watch it crumble away if someone tread to rough. She took in a cool breathe, the chilly air causing her to shiver once more. Looking up to the sky she was greeted by something of comfort, stars. The lack of light on the surface allowed the stars to shine so brightly. She smiled, perhaps she was still in her world? Maybe this was but a trick or spell? She truly hoped not, for this would make a lousy jest. She knew at the very least her powers remained in tact, her hair still flowing weightless behind her, a small comfort to know that she was at the very least not defenseless.

As she walked she found her spirits dwindling ever so slowly. This place... It was nothing like her home world. It was so dismal, a place with no refuge or hope. Gone were the days when these streets were once filled with the playing of children or the bustling of adults. But why? What had happened? A war, or battle? Perhaps a disease? All she knew for certain was standing here in this forgotten world she never felt more alone.

A shifting noise caught her attention. Spinning around she let a small gasp escape her lips. It echoed slightly, the noise from the distance. Soft shifting murmurs, inaudible whispers she could barely hear. "Hello?" She called into the darkness, almost afraid the darkness would call back. Turning back she took a few more steps forward as the murmurs returned. She stopped her ears twitching slightly to pick up the noises. The sounds grew louder now, the faint whispers growing greater with every passing moment. She looked towards the ruins of a once large building, loose wires and cords fell from the empty holes where windows were once placed. The emptiness of the building reminiscent of the skeleton of some enormous beast long since dead. She stared into the darkness thinking for a moment she had seen something. Radiant put one foot forward then immediately pulled it back as a fogy wisp seeped from one of the windows of the building. She gasped lightly as more and more began to appear, these remnants of the forgotten world. She took a few more steps back as slowly the wisps dragged themselves from the darkness of the building. What were they? Almost formless but ever shifting to trick her sight she could not see exactly what they were. The hushed whispers now turning into gurgling pleas frightened her. She allowed her veil to fall from her shoulders holding it now in her hands as she turned and ran to afraid to look back at what manner of creature, or horror, attempted to drag itself from the depths of the ruined city.
