A pokemon-based battle and exploration pride

Battles are an important part of the Kipwani. Everyone is encouraged to fight one another, or lions outside of the pride. Here are the IC and OoC things to keep in mind:

Duel Basics: Each participant rolls 5 6-sided dice. This can be done all in the Opening post or alternating turns. To count as an official battle, the RP MUST be RPed out until the end, regardless of the method used. The SoA with the highest total number wins the battle.

Type effects battle!

Super-effective type: +1 to the total score
Type weakness: -1 to the total score
Neutral types: no change to the total score

The type breakdown is as follows:

Win Count: Counts are kept in this thread- it's your job to keep them up to date. Links are required to completed threads. There will be special prizes given out to SoA who have higher wins, or just a lot of matches under their belt in general! Prizes may include: Edits, Familiars, New Ranks, Special pride perks and more. You do not need to keep track of losses unless you'd like to for RP purposes.

Time Frame: There's no limits to the number of battles you can have going at one time. You may battle the same SoA as many times as you would like. Basically, have at it, people.

IC terms: Of course they are aware of their win/loss counts and can brag about them as much as you would like them to ICly. Conversely, they could also try and hide their real count if they are embarrassed by their losses, but please don't fabricate any results in any OoC contests. Anyone caught doing this will be kicked out of the pride and have any perks revoked. ICly, lions are not allowed to KILL one another, though injuries are normal and sometimes expected.

Breeding RPs: These RPs can count for breeding, same as any other RP. However, please keep in mind the rules of the breeding thread! RPs must be at least 10 posts long to count. That's 5 posts each! If your duel somehow ends up being less than that, then you have to pad it with extra fluff after! I believe, however, that the length won't be much of a problem. To count for a breeding, these duels MUST be filled in with RP, which you can do after all the rolling is done. Duels left with just the random numbers cannot be counted for breedings!

Elite Try-outs: These will be special battles that may have special rules when the time comes. They are generally held through contests and events.

The Champion: The champion will always accept challengers, even when his position is not open for the taking. Winning against him gets you a hell of a lot of respect within the pride! However, the Champion has an automatic +3 to his count, making him VERY difficult to defeat.

Safari Festival! Okay, this is where things get FUN.

Periodically I will random post an Open-RP board for any and all pride members. (Pride members ONLY) This RP board will have a random familiar in it, who happened to venture into the pride by mistake. What's the point? Well, it's up to your SoA to catch that familiar! (you didn't really think I would make a pokemon pride and include NO catching, did you?)

Familiars have ten HP each and it's up to you to lower that HP counts to zero. Multiple SoA may be trying for the familiar at once, but you each have your OWN HP COUNT. If one SoA rolls a 6, bringing the HP to 4, the next person who posts has to roll from 10, not 4. Confusing, I know.

Here is a mock catching event in all its glory!

Roll between 1 and 5, with the same battle rules as a normal duel:

xxxxxxxxx1: The attack missed! (0 damage)
xxxxxxxxx2: Your opponent evaded the attack! (1 damage)
xxxxxxxxx3: A weak hit! (2 damage)
xxxxxxxxx4. A normal hit! (3 damage)
xxxxxxxxx5. Critical hit! (4 damage)

Whoever gets the HP count to 0 first, wins the Familiar for their SoA, to keep forever and ever. Yes, it will be YOUR FAMILIAR. Fun, right?

To keep lucky/fast people from catching them all right off the bat, you can't catch more than one Familiar a month, unless I state otherwise in the opening post. There will be special cases, I'm sure. Familiars may be given to other users, but in turn they can't catch any more for a month. It's the same as gifting a custom cub from a litter- the spot that's taken is from the person who OWNS the familiar.

Anyone caught deleting posts to roll again (though I don't know why you would- it would just slow you down) will be banned from catching any Familiars for three months. Further violations will result in a complete ban from the Catching contests. You may only give one away a month. You HAVE to keep your second one!

xxxxxxIE: Caj gives familiar to Lithia. Lithia accepts, so she can't catch any others for the month! Caj can catch another for himself.

There's no set way to record Your wins/loses and you're welcome to make whatever kind of format you would like. You only need to include which SoA you used, who you fought with, and a link to the completed RP.

Here's a sample form, if anyone needs a little something to go off of:

Battle Log For (SoA):
- Match: (opponent) | Result: (win/loss) | Proof: (RP link)

Battle Log For (SoA):
- Match: (opponent) | Result: (win/loss) | Proof: (RP link)
