It was the last night of the Dragon Games. All winners were announced and C'tis was as smug as a tunnelsnake in a flitt nest. He'd won a minor wrestling contest, done well enough in the bonded obstacle course, he'd had fun terrorizing the judges with Fang in the flitt showing and most importantly he had contributed to his wing - his newly formed wing - winning the most important event of the games: the Wing Relay. Not that he was smug or anything of the kind of course.
Though the evening was firmly turned to night by now C'tis had no intention of retiring to his weyr yet, though had his 'mate been there to murmur the idea in his ear he'd have gone along like a shot. As it was however Roche was otherwise occupied which left him with a skin of wine and a light, thoroughly smug and self satisfied heart. There were a few traders still around, trying to flog the last of their wares before they were encouraged to move along in the morning. C'tis poked at the assorted wares with mild interest while up on his shoulder Fang treated the stallholders to predatory glares.
Malcarreth meanwhile was flopped down on the shore of the south-eastern lake, trying to ignore the ache of his muscles; flying for a day and a half at a near sprint half the time was not what a green-sized blue was designed for and he was paying for it now. He felt a lot better than he had the first couple of days after their leg but he still twinged and was very glad that nothing much had been asked of them recently.

Contests weren't really N'oka's favourite pastime. The Dragon Games put everyone in good spirits though and that was something he appreciated. Naturally Experath wanted to be part of absolutely every game imaginable, but luckily N'oka had managed to distract him. He had used this time most efficiently, going out on several searches as the days had worn on, luckily keeping Experath at least a little occupied. Tonight though was the last night, soon all this fuss would be over and they could all get back to more productive endeavours. He understood it was good for moral and it did give the wings something to strive for, but still all this fuss seemed unnecessary.
Experath prodded his riders mind as the man moved nearer to the stalls. It was late and near the time they'd be leaving and N'oka was convinced that was when you'd get the best deals for things, because the traders would be desperate to sell. That wasn't interesting for Experath. He would go to the lake instead. Swimming was fun. As he glided though the bronze noticed a familiar shape though and adjusted his course with a happy trumpet. <>

Who was that?... Oh yes, Experath. It was hard not to know Experath. Malcarreth yawned and flicked his tail tip lazily. <> he reported. <>
C'tis meanwhile had moved onto a leather goods stall, where he was inspecting a set of saddlebags thoughtfully. Good quality, still quite pricey, he did need some new ones really and good leather lasted so well as long as you kept it oiled to stop the cold from cracking it. Plus he just liked leather, especially handsomely tooled leather such as this, there were stylised vine-like designs that put him in mind of Trine's deep jungle.

Landing with his usual clumsy thump the bronze trotted over to the blue. <> Experath flopped down dramatically. <> The dragon mimicked, clearly a tad disappointed about not being allowed to play with the rest of them. It was only a game after all. Surely nobody would get caught up in it enough that they'd be mean about it.
Walking through the stalls N'oka came across a stall selling leathers. He looked at the wares before spying a rider beside him. His gaze flicked to the wineskin and back to the leathers. "Celebrating, C'tis?" It was a good natured question, N'oka mouth turning in one of his usual small smiles as he considered the goods. Practicality was his preferred method. Rather a reinforced set of leathers than a fancy pair. Experath's straps were fine, but it was never a bad idea to plan ahead and if he could find a good set for a reasonable price he could part with the marks.

Malcarreth gave a huff of amusement and rolled right over onto his back, his wings and back legs splayed out like a starfish and his front legs tucked up on his chest. <> In a bad mood he would hate dragons like Experath but in a good mood he found the bronze's manner endearing, and he was certainly in a good mood right now.
C'tis turned to N'oka with a crooked grin that flashed with gold where a fight-chipped tooth had been capped in the precious metal. "Better believe it, and taking advantage of last minute bargains. Who says multi tasking is solely the province of women? And yourself? Not drowning your sorrows at all? Your poor mighty leader D'lin must be smarting to be bested by two crimson led wings and a one led by a bronze who believes in colour equality rather than the superiority of his hue."

<> The bronze stretched out. If he'd have gotten to take part he was sure he'd have done really well. Maybe not won, but he'd have had a really good stab at it. <> Although maybe that was his reason.
"No sorrows to drown I'm afraid," N'oka said with a casual shrug of his shoulders. He could have made some defensive comment about how flying a relay wasn't really a good measure of a wing, but he didn't mind it. If winning made C'tis feel good then let it be. "I wasn't part of the relay myself, but I'm sure my wing tried their best." He hadn't actually checked in with any of them to find out. Maybe it would be worth checking none of them actually were drowning their sorrows too severely.

Malcarreth gave Experath an upside-down grin and shrugged mentally. <> he huffed, <>
"No? None at all?" C'tis was still grinning, toying idly with the buckles on the bags he was considering. "Aren't you sad your wing won't be going on to the Pern Games? It's the biggest d**k measuring contest there is! Or do you prefer to keep yours to yourself?" C'tis looked N'oka up and down, gaze lingering for a moment on one place in particular before he met the bronze rider's eyes again and arched an eyebrow. "Surely a strapping bronzer like yourself has something to brag about?"

<> N'oka might have tried to keep them away by searching, but he'd got to sneak a few viewings. <> That was one he could have been in. The agility test would have been funny to try for him. He wasn't even very fast for a bronze, let alone out speeding some of the dragons in that contest.
"To myself if at all possible." Oh, it was going to be one of those conversations, was it? Still C'tis had clearly gotten into his wine, so N'oka was willing to let that pass. So long as it remained harmless in nature. "I'm sure you and your wing will represent Trine wonderfully." Picking up a strap N'oka turned it over in his hand, testing the strength of the material. Perhaps he'd just stick with what he had and do another tune up.

< > Malcarreth agreed with a rumbling chuckle. <>
"Sounds a bit boring," C'tis replied happily, taking another sip of his wine and reaching up to stroke Fang. "We'll certainly do our best again.... So what are you looking for? I think there's a stall a few down that sells more specialised 'harnesses'. They put fleece and fur on the inside to make them more comfortable around the wrist." Could he get a rise - haha, not that kind - out of this guy? He hoped so! It would make a fun night even more fun. "They might give you a discount if you tell them I sent you."

<> Bronzes and browns rising too. Any of the male colours rising would be funny. <> Some of them might, it'd be an interesting game. Experath would probably take on the challenge, then again the poor bronze seemed to have actually missed the point.
Taking a breath N'oka placed the strap down, picking up a thicker one a little way along. "Go there a lot do you?" When he'd first been searched this conversation would have had young N'oka speechless and hastily excusing himself, but he'd been in Weyrs long enough now to not get squeamish about that kind of thing. He was actually morbidly curious though to know if there was anyone brazen enough to be selling that kind of... equipment here.

Malcarreth chuckled but he was feeling too relaxed and well disposed to the world to be cruel to the sweet clueless bronze. <> he said easily, closely followed by; <>
C'tis grinned some more. "Well no, they're travelling traders but I put in a nice order with them and I know where they're based so if you're not ready to buy just yet we can always fly over there together sometime. That way you could see their full range! They told me that have some equipment you can use to fully suspend people with, sounds fascinating don't you think?" This was way too much fun.

<> Near clutches they always had to search more. Not just to give those eggs options, but to keep the ranks of candidates ample. They did a lot of work around the Weyr after all.
"Must've been a very good one that the mere mention of your name earns a discount." That would've been a heck of an order. If any of it was true N'oka worried about what C'tis' weyr looked like. Not the places to hold meetings he would think. N'oka nodded, a soft 'hmm' in his throat as he looked at the bluerider. "Fascinating, I imagine it'd take a lot of thought to do that safely. Seems an awful lot of work." N'oka liked things simple, call him predictable, but he liked things the way he liked them.

<> Malcarreth replied. <>
C'tis smirked, his gold tooth flashing once again. "Oh yes, it rather was! I didn't promise it would be a good discount mind you but every bit helps right? And you know what they say, the work you put in it what you put out! Oh, sorry," the smirk got bigger, "get out."

<> Experath liked flying all over the place too, going places that other dragons didn't go much. <> It didn't seem like something Experath would enjoy much, but then maybe there was more to it than just escorting people.
"Ah, see it really could be anything. I might even get charged more." What had he done? He'd been and gotten roped into an innuendo contest. He also did not have much hope of winning, C'tis seemed far more versed in these kinds of things than he was. Or had any desire to be for that matter. "I suppose there is some truth in that."

<> Malcarreth rolled back onto his belly and rested his chin on his crossed forefeet. <> he said with approval in his tone. <>
"Well you could always ask the price and then drop my name, see what happens," C'tis suggested with a rolling deep purr. "All up to you though, whatever you like. Oh, you," he turned to look at the trader who owned the stall at last and gestured to the saddlebags. "How much for these?" As he spoke he shifted his shoulders and Fang hissed.
The trader, who'd had a busy couple of weeks, muttered a very fair price under his breath.
C'tis hummed. "Half a mark less and you have a sale, friend. Hey, maybe N'oka will do you a dance to make up the difference?" Hahahahahaha!
