Hair: Dark brunette, would like it to inspired on this hairstyle, but long in the back.
Eyes: Big ol' brown eyes would be lovely.
Skin: Colorist's choice, but no tan/human colors please.
Markings: I would love if she had freckles, otherwise she's supposed to be based on a cow so go nuts (but nothing other than freckles on face please).
Clothing: I would like her main color to be dark red (bandana in hair, shirt, tall socks, whatever). Otherwise, it is mostly colorist's choice. Tall brown boots maybe with tall socks peeking out?
Jewelry: Some sort of piercings in her ear. I think a necklace with a hoop (as shown in picture) would be lovely for that whole cow theme.

      Personality

        Traits: User Image
Daring. Merri is a bit fearless, and often is the first volunteered for unpleasant situations. No mess is too gross for her, and no situation is too dangerous. As a Freshling, this often got her into a lot of trouble, and as a Junior, she was dared to do many a thing.
Determined. As long as the reason for finishing the task still exists, Maribell will persist through the situation in order to reach the end. Sometimes, as to when it comes to homework, it's a bit more reluctant, but once you get her temper going, she just as to finish what she started.
Handy. Maribell is extremely good with her hands and tinkers with nearly everything in her possession. It doesn't always go well, and some times her ventures of using magic to aid end with soot, but she enjoys the process of figuring out how things work. In general, she has an interest in anything that will get claws dirty. She'd take a Craftsmanship elective four times over if you really let her.
Crafting. Merri isn't the best with her magic, but what she is capable of using, she puts towards making things. A trip into her room will show many little trinkets from various spare parts, and to any adult, it's clear that Merri is the token trades Imp. While she has interest in her Enchanting classes and enjoys them, she's not the most solid of magic users quite yet.

Short Tempered. Merri's temper boils to irritation quite often, especially when situations aren't going her way. She usually does not get verbally mean, but when annoyed, she can get a bit aggressive and persistent.
Loud. Quieter Nightmares may be intimidated by Merri's volume, and accompanied lack of filter. Some value her for her honesty, others just find her obnoxious, especially as she's the type that doesn't mind interrupting class.
Academic Disinterest. Merri has no intention to go onto University. Sitting in a classroom all day long is boring, and subjects like Chemistry largely make her yawn unless she gets to experiment as electrons mean little to her. Literature is probably the worst, and you'll never catch her reading for enjoyment. She's been playing slightly ignorant as to how this'll come around to bite her in the butt eventually.
Technology Disinterest. To an extent. Merri loves her tinkering, but hates some of the conveniences crystal technologies bring. Magic-run devices are not as fun to her mechanically run things, such as trains and tools with gears that move.

        Hobbies:
Maribelle spends most of her time tinkering, or getting into trouble. While she has a moral compass and usually ends her shenanigans when it's at the expense of another Nightmare, she's usually up to something. She tends to spend a lot of her time with those who are younger than her, saying something about her maturity levels. Those who are familiar with her and idea of a good time are far from surprised to hear that she does not desire to attend University. She would probably run away to live with a band of children if you really let her.

Otherwise, Merri is very dedicated to her familiars and shows more kindness to animals than other Nightmares. While she usually loud and upfront with all Nightmares she meets, it's not rare for her to grow quiet and gentle with familiars. Sometimes, she can be seen approaching a Nightmare just to say hello to their little friends. Some days Merri wishes she could go into Familiar-oriented medicine and work with them, but she doesn't believe she'd be good at (or have much interest) the more science based aspects such as anatomy and the body. In addition, most of her magic is related to tinkering and she isn't confident she could expand her abilities.

The brunette loves the outdoors and she's pushed the Academy's boundaries more than once trying to explore on her own. She hates being restricted to the school's lot and is relieved she is finally a Senior with more leeway on leaving. When the weather permits, the windows to her dorm are consistently open, and it's not rare to see her approach untamed wildlife with mixed success. Once she graduates the Academy, she wants to press her luck by moving to the outskirts of a city.

        World View:
Finding her house had been a bit of a no brainer, having no interest in the "dull" subjects such as literature or the idea of being subjected to really old, sort of dry history. Sometimes Maribell gets frustrated with the other Enoch students who are fascinated with big words and being brainy show offs or who talk all the time about how the teeny tiny atoms work, as they often pester her over her disinterest. She's much more into "this cog turns that cog" and not so much what composes the elements she's working with. Part of her disinterest may be her immaturity, but in order to really find the career she wants post school, she'll most likely have to invest some time in learning the best angles for construction instead of letting everything in her life be trial and error. Compared to the other students, Merri ranks low in her class, most simply due to her disinterest of the classroom setting and her generally attitude towards not attending the University (and thus not believing she needs the current-classroom skills to make it in life).

Merri does not show a lot of distress over being Cache born, mostly due to the fact many at the Academy are in the same situation. Somedays she does feel lonely, and many a night she had dreamed of having a large tight-knit family, but has reasoned with herself that once she leaves the Academy she will start a family of her own. The brunette is very fond of kids and as she waits for her own, she is close to those she associates with at the Academy. It is not rare to find her being very cuddly and familiar with the younger students, and she often has naps with the Freshlings she visits in the playroom. All in all, Merri is very focused on the future which has helped her get over her current lack of family and the fact she's "caged" to the Academy.

Sometimes Merri's temper makes her very irritated with Nightmares who are too caught up with being true to their race. The Imp doesn't like hanging around in the past (especially since History is a bore to her), and sometimes sees a Nightmare's attempt to be authentic to their culture as a sort of "look at me" thing. Knowing many at the Academy are cache born, she strongly believes everyone should continue being themselves instead of forcing ancient customs. However, she has no issues with "natural" instincts and talents, and is able to acknowledge that race does play into the differences between her and her classmates.

After she graduates, Merri wants to live outside the city (any will do) in order to be closer to nature and left to her own devices. She's aware some aspire to rejoin the existing populations, but she would much rather start her own life and business to support herself until she can find the perfect partner. She is unsure if she wants a job dealing with familiars, or related to craftsman ship quite yet, but she hopes the outskirts will be in need of services. For the most part, she's going in blindly and will face a bit of a shock when the real world catches up to her.

      History

        Past: User Image
Merri was awakened at the same time as many other Nightmares, just another face in full class growing Freshlings. At her young age, she wasn't too different from the other Freshlings needing guidance and constant watch, though she was known for getting into places and things she didn't belong. Many toys met their demise in her hands, not for the sake destroying things, but for the sake of figuring out what was inside or how it worked. Talking toys were the bane of her existence and it wasn't rare to find her napping with a pile of fluff and a gutted plush. While at her youngest she gravitated towards other Imps for their familiarity, it did not take long for her to begin and branch out in order to make friends with other mischievous Nightmares.

As a Junior, Maribell was introduced to more resources to aid her in her tinkering, including a library worth of knowledge on machinery and technology she could now fully access and understand. While things like magic and simple science experiences had blown her mind as a Freshling, she quickly grew out of in light of new tactile things to play with. Copying down diagrams and ripping out a few pages from books (she later got caught with), she began to plaster her room with instructions for building and creating the most elementary of things. Many of her trinkets accumulated quickly turned into Frankenstein-eske projects and Merri was always happy no matter the outcome. Many of her teachers saw her as creative and unable to cope with idle hands, but efforts to channel her curiosity into projects went largely ignored in light of her attitude towards instruction in the classroom setting. While experiments in science class often captivated her with the premise of a small eruption or the like, Merri found assignments such collages and poster projects annoying busy work.

Nearing her Senior year, Merri began to become more and more disinterested in her classes, and her newest Professors now only know her as the disruptive pupil. Her current attitude has made her relations with other quieter Imps slightly strained, but with her mindset of looking to the future and not the past, Merri likes to shrug off the normal cultural conventions. She has yet to really attempt to sell or barter any of her items, but some of her closest friends have received small hand-made trinkets as gifts from the Imp.

Merri has never been super captivated by the art of magic or where it comes from in the body and all that jazz, but her introduction to the subject in her Junior year helped her realize that if she begun to understand it, she could utilize it to improve her crafting. While at first her temper made many of her attempts to harness the basics unsuccessful, practice really has made perfect, and she is starting to get the hang of small spells that help piece things together or improve the qualities of the materials she uses. She hopes to be able to better her skills in order to make it on her own. Maribell is much more into the outcomes of her magic rather than learning the craft, and she'd never dare set foot towards Alchemy territory.

      Roleplay Prompt

      Prompt
Your Nightmare has just woken up on a day where they have class. What is their morning ritual? How do they get ready?

A low groan escaped the Imp as her alarm rang on the other side of the room, knowing that this time it was hers. She pressed her face into her pillow, long hair bunched up around her shoulders. Unfortunately, her large ears made drowning almost any noise out and without any roommates around to shut it off for her, Maribell sat up slowly. She rubbed at her eyes as she stood, dragging most of her blanket with her as she hunted for her alarm clock on her dresser. It had been a smart tactic setting it up over here, but she hated herself a little bit every day for it.

Stretching freely, the sun came in bright through the window, not even needing to flip a switch to get dressed. Staggering around on her feet, she avoiding looking at the mirror until she had brushed out the majority of her hair. She really, really didn't want to see what she looked until she was half way presentable. With fast hands, she began doing up her hair, walking around with a few bobby pins in her lips. With a foot she pulled out her boots from under her bed before knocking over her laundry basket in the corner, the majority of her junk isolated to area per her roommate's request. Satisfied with her hair after a short patting down, she rummaged quickly for her uniform. "Where is it?" the Imp grumbled to herself, and passing the mirror on her way across her room, she stopped to finish her hair before assaulting her dresser drawers.

Her morning ordeal always took longer than anticipated, and finally doing up the front of her uniform, Merri groaned with drooping ears. "You be good," she called to her Familiars at large, stuffing everything on her desk into her book bag, including more than one trinket for her idle hands. As long as she kept her head down and stayed quiet, she usually got away with keeping her hands busy instead of her ears. Stomping her feet into her boots, she pulled her backpack onto her shoulders and made it nearly out the door. She curled her claws into her collar of fur, groaning again as she galloped to her bed. "Come on," she huffed at her bedsheets, finally producing her necklace in the fold of her quilt. With careful hands, minding her hair-do, she pulled it down around her neck and pulled her hair out of the back of the loop. Glancing once at her mess on the floor of clothes and blankets, Merri silently told herself she would clean up later before the other two came back for the evening though in reality that rarely happened. This time she dashed for class for real, never actually having time for breakfast as she planned.

~Staff Crit~

Appearance:

-Did you want a custom face or one of the stock ones? Stock faces can be mixed and matched if say you wanted the eyes from one and the mouth from another, otherwise please include an idea of what kind of expression you'd like her to have.

Personality:

-How does she fit into her Academy house? Does she enjoy being a member of Arkham, a house mostly revolving around the visual and performing arts? You may want to consider Enoch for her, as she is a tinkerer, and may fit in better with aspiring engineering students.

-Crafting as a magic usually revolves around the creation of several small things that go up to make one large specific items like food, clothing, art, etc. She sounds more like an inventor than a crafter. Craftsmanship, as a class is about various more physically demanding aspects of art like glass blowing, metal working, pottery etc. If she wanted to learn about crafting spells to enhance things and the like, she would take Enchanting.

-Chimera are from the Scepters up in Boreas, or in small ranges in Northern Zephyros, not the Crown which is the mountain range dividing Bapho territory from Geist. If there is an error somewhere in the lore please let us know as we tried to get things changed as much as possible but we still find errors.

-The whole disinterest in science is a bit odd, considering she likes to take things apart and make new things. Even if she doesn't like the more...theoretical parts of science it still covers areas like mechanical engineering and basic physics which to some extent covers how those machines work.

History:

-Merri wouldn't have been encouraged to only socialize with other Imps. The caretakers at the Academy are very much for kids mingling. It's only if the child for some reason has a personal preference for their own Race that they would form those kind of cliches.

-I don't see why she's in Arkham at this point. Children are appointed to their houses according to their interests, her desire to take things apart and learn how they worked would have pushed her into Enoch. She's not a crafter, she's an inventor and it sounds like she enchants her items to be more useful in the overall design or effect of her inventions.

-As a Junior her ability to cast spells on the level you seem to be thinking in would have been highly difficult for her. Juniors only learn the very basics of magic, and can only cast if they reallllly concentrate on it. It isn't until Senior year they are allowed to actually branch out and take specific magic classes.

Prompt:

-Just for ref, unless she is not incredibly sociable, the odds are she would have a roommate unless she had a particular reason for needing a solo room.

Lady Argentum Draconis

      Appearance:
      1. I just forgot this one, fixed!

      Personality:
      1. I was thinking Arkham for the design aspects when I originally started out, but I agree with you that maybe Enoch would fit better. It's been changed (added into World View).
      2. While I know what your getting at (because Merri does very much like tinkering), she totally loves getting her hands dirty too and would take a Crafting elective any day even if it's not her main aspiration. I made it a bit clearer.
      3. Naw, I was talking about the Chimera (and Nightmares in general) 'cos I had it on the top of my head. I edited to make it clearer.
      4. I edited it to try and articulate myself better? Basically, she's satisfied with "part a + b = this outcome" and then tunes out there when it comes to the why. I was hoping she'd really flounder after graduation realizing that she tuned out a lot of stuff that's important to being successful, but she's largely a trial and error girl. She's not into Alchemy stuff.

      History:
      1. Just me misunderstanding this line "an orphaned Imp will be encouraged to make friends and stick close to other Imps at the four schools." Fixed.
      2. Mostly me not articulating myself well. I understand it's a process, the part about her abilities are "current day" but she began to get into it/humor the idea her Junior year if that makes sense? I moved it after Senior year and modified it slightly.

      Prompt:
      1. Fixed. That one was just something I never noticed. Is that one new or am I losing it? lol

"... such as the Chimera who desire to return to the Crown..."

-Chimera don't live in the Crown. I know originally they were placed there, but with the lore rewrites they were moved to the Scepters in Boreas. Please just change this little detail so it complies with lore.

"Many of her teachers saw her as creative and unable to cope with idle hands, but efforts to channel her curiosity into the visual arts went largely ignored as the Imp had little interest in making pretty things."

-Because she is no longer in Arkham, this sentence doesn't make any sense. I could see however teachers trying to engage her need to be busy, by trying to find more participation based activities for her to do like projects to explain concepts. Especially in science class since my character Dax (who teaches the class) is willing to be very flexible when it comes to trying to keep a student engaged in science.

"...with other quieter Imps slightly strained, but with her mindset of looking to the past and not the future, Merri likes to shrug off the normal cultural conventions."

-I think what you mean is the "now"? Merri does seem to be focused on what's going on right now around her than things that happened in the past or what will happen tomorrow. If that's not what you were going for, I'm not sure what you meant.

"...Junior year helped her realize she needed to begin understanding it in order to improve her crafting."

-Actually there is no particular reason she needs to learn magic in order to create her inventions. Yes, it is probably cheaper for her to be able to perform the enchantments herself to get the desired effect for the parts she works with, but she could also commission them from someone else and never bother to learn magic at all.

RP Prompt:

-Looks fine now.

      1. Fixed.
      2. Fixed. I see her as easily annoyed by busy work, so I tried to convey that better.
      3. Yeah, fixed.
      4. I want her to have an interest in magic even if she's mediocre at it (I know she doesn't have to be, but I want her to be so I have some sort of goal to rp), so I edited it some.
