Her sister was an idiot. A stupid, utter and complete idiot. To pick a stallion that she barely knew over her twin sister? Oh, sorry, Whiskey was 'in love' with this stallion. It was a mess. One big hunk of stallion wanders in and tears a family apart. And it wasn't just that. Lullaby could tell that this stallion, Mest, was no good. He was not good for Whiskey and he was not good in general. She could tell that he did not share her feelings of love and devotion, and Lullaby knew that this whole thing would end up in nothing but heartbreak for her sister. So she had attempted to convince Whiskey early. But her sister would hear nothing of it. She had screamed at Lullaby.
'How can you know anything about love?' Whiskey had verbally stabbed at Lullaby's weak spot. 'Are you not the one that played with the hearts of two stallions? Only to end up with nothing?'
'That's not what this is about! You know that. How can you see that he isn't good? He's covered in blood half the time he comes to see you - and he barely even comes to see you anymore!' she had tried to reason, but Whiskey was having none of it.
'You're just bitter towards anyone that has a chance at love that you'll never have,' she had hissed.
Lullaby's heart had shattered. Her sweet sister had turned on her because of this stallion. She had become so vicious towards anyone that dared to question their relationship. It was becoming too much for Lullaby.
'Fine,' she had whispered. 'Then I will take my bitterness and leave you to live your life with your true love. Don't come crying to me when he leaves you and you have nothing,'
'Good. Leave me. Mest was getting tired of your staring and muttering anyway. Jealousy looks ugly on you sister!' Whiskey had snapped at her retreating back.
Lullaby just kept walking. And now here she was, alone and wandering this dark and dismal forest. She let out a laugh, thinking about how this forest matched her current feelings so well.

She was an idiot. How could she let this happen? How? He was... he was gone. Her mate. The missing piece of her soul. They had taken him. He was dead.
"Kurosawa," Sae-Yae whimpered his name aloud to the surrounding forest.
She should have given herself up so that he could be spared. She was the one that they were after. She was the only one that they thought could bring a stop to the plague they had brought down on themselves. The cult that had killed her twin sister. She hated them. They had ruined any chance at a life she could have had. She and Kurosawa had been so close. They thought they were safe. They had settled down, talked about family. They were too reckless.
"We should have never stopped running, my love," she whispered to the sky.
A laugh caught her attention, and she shifted her small flutter form on the branch that she was resting on. A large black dappled mare was slowly walking through the forest. She was looking as miserable as Sae-Yae was feeling.
"Oh," she breathed, flitting off the branch and floating behind the mare's head.
"Are you lost, too?" Sae-Yae asked. "Have you lost someone dear?"

Lullaby stopped and blinked as a voice spoke suddenly. It was hauntingly beautiful and sad, and Lullaby could tell it belonged to a mare. She looked to the right and left, but saw no one. She only heard a soft humming.
"I guess... you could say I am lost... and I have... lost someone, that is," she said sadly, looking down at the ground.
"Who are you? Where are you?"

Sae-Yae felt for the mare who was going through something just as bad as or worse than what she was going through. This forest seemed to attract those that were lost. Sae-Yae had seen many others wander by in similar states of distress. Sae-Yae belonged in this lost forest, but she didn't want this mare to wind up here.
"I am a fellow lost soul," she whispered in the mare's ear. "Leave this place, before you are stuck here with us,"
