 After science had finished, Starlet packed up his things, neatly as always, and then exited the room. He waited outside for Sorren, this wasn't her favorite subject so he was curious as to what period she'd chosen to write her facts about. Once he spotted her coming out of he room, he waved slightly.
"Sorren. Which period did you choose?" Ah, blunt as always. Since they'd been friends for so long he'd long since given up trying to modify his speech pattern with her. "I went with Cambrian. There was a lot going on in that period."

 Sorren was rushing out of glass, thoughts of dinosaurs in her head. She just couldn't wait to get them down on paper. She was in such a hurry that she almost missed Starlet waiting for her. However when she saw him waving and heard his voice Sorren stopped and went to stand next to him. The two of them had been friends, at least she considered them friends, since they were freshlings. He always helped her in science, since he loved the subject and she didn't. The art could wait, it wasn't like her sketch pad was going anywhere.
"I went with Jurassic. Just the pictures of all the dinosaurs in our text book really spoke to me. They had some cool facts also." she couldn't remember anything about the Cambrian time period but she wasn't sure if she should ask him. He did sometimes go on rants when it came to science things. However curiosity seemed to get the best of her. "Cambrian? I don't remember anything about that time period."

Ah, she seemed distracted. Perhaps he'd interrupted a thought... She seemed to get that look when she wanted to go do something artsy... he didn't really understand it entirely, but he supposed he had an equivalent himself in some manner.
He nodded, the Jurassic period was pretty interesting. "It figures that you would choose based off of the pictures." He managed a half smile, indicating that despite the flat tone, that was supposed to be a playful tease. "Did you have somewhere you needed to go? I could tell you about it along the way. There is a lot. It did start with a great bloom in life all around the planet. Plenty of creatures that set up the path for the future periods." He nodded again, then straightened a bit in preparation to follow her somewhere.

If anyone else had spoken to her in the way that Starlet did she would think the person didn't like her, however she knew the hybrid well so she understood he was just messing with her. "Ha ha." she joked as she stuck her tongue out at him. "Not really, I was just headed to my dorm so I could paint some dinosaurs. We can head in that direction, but I'm not really in a hurry. My paint and canvas will be there all day."
"So that period would be before the Jurassic one?" she asked. He said it paved the way for other creatures, but she wasn't sure if that was after all the dinosaurs died and new creatures were created or before the dinosaurs were even around. Man, she really needed to pay more attention in class.

Well, at least he hadn't been interrupting her. His attempt at a smile grew a little at the joking laugh and tongue. He should really figure out how to do that sometime... hm... "Ah, that is good. I have been told by others that I have a knack for pinning them at the wrong time." He nodded again, then started off towards the dormitories.
"What dinosaurs were you going to paint? Some of the information in the textbooks is a little off. Did you know they hypothesize that velociraptors actually had feathered bodies, instead of scales like many other dinosaurs?" He tucked his books under his arm as he walked, and nodded to her question. "Yes, many millions of years prior. It was one of the first periods, following archeon and proterozoic periods, which were the first two. Actually, it marked the beginning of the paleozoic era. It was also when invertebrates started emerging in mass quantities. Creatures like trilobites." Goodness he sounded like a textbook being read out loud, but this really was an interesting topic for him.

He had picked her at the wrong time before, so she believed him when he said others told him that. However she wouldn't ever say something like that to someone else. It was just rude. "Ah no such thing as the wrong time. Any time can be the right time if you want." she said with a shrug as she headed towards the dorms as well.
As he talked she laughed. "Well I'm glad you told me that! Velociraptors were one of the ones I was thinking of painting." she would have to do more research on them first. She didn't like studying so much, but when it came to studying something for a painting she was often all over it. "I was also thinking of a Pteranodon." she told him. Although she understood why Starlet's lecturing ways wasn't for everyone, she actually enjoyed them. She didn't like to read textbooks anyways, and she often felt like she learned more from him then she ever did from the teachers. Well when it came to science that was. "Oh I think I know what a trilobite is. We have fossils of them right?"'

"I suppose that it can be, however sometimes there just is not time for lectures. Like right before a class." He nodded again, always so literal... "Ah, were they? I am sure you will make them look nice. You are very skilled. I am sure there are pictures of them somewhere with their proposed appearance with the feathers."
He turned down the hall towards the dormitories, nodding again at the question. "Yes, trilobite fossils are fairly common, as far as fossils go. They still exist today, actually. Though they are much smaller. Some species, anyway. There are some large ones, but they do not usually make it to the surface. Alive." He shrugged a bit, "I am not sure many people would like them, considering the rampant fear of spiders."

"Unless there is a test that day, or a pop quiz! Then lectures should be given before class to help refresh memories!" she told him. There were many times where he had helped her remember things because of this. She wasn't the smartest out there, but when he told her things right before class it made it easier for her to recall them. She smiled at him. "Thank you Starlet." and she meant it, for someone who was so literal about things compliments about her art were much better. She knew he would say something if he didn't like them.
"Do some live in the sea? I feel like everything was so much bigger back in the day. Now it's better to be smaller in order to survive. Well sometimes." Bigger meant stronger normally, but smaller things could hide. She figured both sizes had their own advantages.

"I suppose that is true. It does help refresh the information and make it more readily accessible. It is good to know that my pre-class lectures have been helpful." He nodded, genuinely pleased. He had figured they were anyway, but confirmation was never a bad thing. Occasionally he started up the lectures just as an exercise to refresh his own mind.....
"Oh, yes. Trilobites are all aquatic if I am not mistaken, and most, if not all of their related species are as well. It is true that there are some advantages to being small in size, though largeness usually comes with natural strength. I suppose a true successful form would be both small, and strong. Though I believe that would be hard to achieve." He shrugged stiffly. "I suppose that Imps are a good example, though culturally they are nonviolent."
