  "I'm a very busy man, and I haven't got all day!"XXXToday would be the glorious day that Mr. and Mrs. Marlow would be leaving for their month long vacation without their son River. Despite being left out of the family vacation, River wasn't even slightly upset about any of it, in fact he was probably more thrilled than anything. Of course they'd be leaving his fathers car for the male's spoiled a**, along with money and the whole house to play in. He knew they'd freak if anything happened in the house or whatever. He obviously didn't care much, besides, how would they even know? All he had to do was make sure everything was how it was when they left so that they wouldn't notice. Throwing on some clothes that were scattered around the floor of his room (they smelled clean and looked decent enough to wear). Slipping into them, he headed down the stairs and headed for the kitchen, which smelled great. Sitting at the breakfast bar, he greeted their chef with a wave and a soft "Hello" before a plate was set down in front of him. Digging into the huge breakfast that had been placed before him, he swallowed the food down with a tall glass of milk before grinning at his happy stomach.
"Did my mother and father leave get McGee? Or are they sti-" "Are you kidding me Harold?!" the voice of Mrs. Marlow cut through the kitchen and cut off River's words. The chef looked at River with a small smile before walking off towards the back. River kept his eyes trained on his plate as his parents argued back and forth and walked all around the house getting ready to go on their vacation. Eventually the two were on their phones and talking with a bunch of people that River couldn't really remember who any of the people were, so he just stood once he was finished and placed his dishes in the sink. He sat on one of the counter tops and waited until both his parents were done and bidding him their good byes. He walked to the door with them and watched them wheel their suitcases out of the house and down the steps. Their heaviness making loud noises as the wheels hit each step. "Bye! Have a good trip!" he called cheerfully from the door way as he waved at them and waited. Before Mrs. Marlow stepped into the cab they'd called, she rushed over to River "I called someone to come stay with you. Didn't want you to be here alone. Bye hun" she said as she kissed his forehead. Chloe got up in the morning, checking the time as she got on her phone, she's been texting one of her friends, begging to get a ride to the house that she was suppose to be babysitting at. Her parents had left to go to work and she didn't have time to get to the bus stop or walk. "Please please please please please" Chloe's soft voice kept uttering the same word over and over again, begging her friend a ride this one time. Her friend was a good one, she's known Jessica since they were in middle school, this was the reason Jess was so hesitant to give her the ride. Out of all their friends, her parents, and her brother, Jessica had given her the hardest time about this job because she knew everything about it like her parents did. The rest of their friends and her brother thought it was going to be some ten year old kid, she only told three people his real age. Her parents had agreed, trusting their daughter to the fullest extent possible and knew the parents. Jess? She trusted Chloe with her family's life if it came down to it, she's said it multiple times that she didn't trust the boy. "Ugh, Fine. Just know that i'll be controlling the radio all the way" a small smile appeared on her face as she set down her brush and put on the last piece of her outfit, using the bow to hold back the pieces of her hair to create a half-up, half down hairstyle "Thank you! I'll be outside, promise this won't happen again" "No, it's good that it did happen. Now I know what house i'm going to break into if something happens to you" Chloe rolled her eyes before she grabbed her back, slipping in her charger and hanging up the phone after she said goodbye on the phone. SHe checked through everything that she had, her camera, her phone, her charger for both items, money,....she finally slipped on her flats as she ran outside once she heard Jess's car horn. She got into the car, bag in her lap as she smiled "I don't know why you've agreed to this" her friend muttered, shaking her head. Chloe's brown eyes met her friend's "So I don't have to ask you or my parents for a ride anytime I want to go somewhere?" "I'm perfectly fine with giving you a ride everywhere" Jess shot back, causing Chloe to laugh "That's why I don't want to burden you, I know you'll agree no matter what time I call you for a ride".
Chloe looked up to the house that she was suppose to be in, the car was already gone, but she knew the parents couldn't have left no more than ten minutes before since she had asked about their flight time. "Thanks so much Jess-" she was cut off when her wrist was grabbed, and she looked down to her best friend "Call me if something happens or anything feels bad". Chloe noticed the worriedness in her friend's tone and once she looked into her eyes, she saw it as well "I promise, nothing's going to go wrong though, it's just a summer job and i'm a big girl remember?" she smiled before leaning down to hug her "I'll call you later" Chloe said, walking up to the door as she waved her friend off before turning around. She looked up to the front door, holding her breath for a moment before she rang the doorbell as she waited to meet the boy she'll be spending nearly half of her summer with.

Chloe waited patiently at the door though she was nervous, what if he didn't like her? She was his age, or at least would be when her birthday comes later, towards the end of summer. Okay, so technically he was older than her by only a few months, would he still be annoyed over her being there? She was holding on tightly to the strap of her panda backpack, a gift from her brother on her sixteenth birthday, along with the black kitten that was inside. Yeah, her parents were so happy with the animal that was going to live there. She held her breath when she heard footsteps on the other side of the door, waiting to see the boy she'll be babysitting. She looked up at him, she knew she was only a tiny bit smaller than the average girl at her school's height, she knew only because she had a project in her AP statistics class. "my name's Chloe, you can call me Chlo or Cece if you want" she was going to let him choose what to call her, she was called certain things by certain people, Cece/Chlo were usually by her friends, Clover was exclusively for family and Jess so she usually didn't mention that as a nickname at first, unless she really liked someone and they were close enough to her. Maybe by the end of the month, they'll be in a friendly enough relationship for him to call her Clover, maybe he'll say her actual name with annoyance. She couldn't tell yet how much he would like her "it's nice to meet you" she added in, a few seconds after, feeling hot since she was standing in the sun, feeling quite awkward about the situation. She smiled a bit when he invited her in, stepping inside "thank you, how much did your mother tell about me?" she asked, she had already known his name, but because he referred to her only as the sitter rather than by her first or last name. "do you have any questions about this?" she asked as well, figuring they might as well get everything out of the way before any kind of miscommunication happens.

She was such a small girl, in fact, standing at about six foot two, River towered over her. "Chloe it is then.." he said as he gave her enough space to move around. "My mom never told me much.. In fact she kinda told me about you just before she stepped into a taxi and was driving off with my dad.." he said as he lead Chloe into the house. Did he have any questions about this arrangement? Oh he had more questions about what was happening than he'd ever had period. However, Chloe wasn't the person he wanted to ask. "No questions.. But feel free to ask me if you have any questions too I guess.." he said as he lead her to the spare room. He opened the door, but moved to lean against the wall to the left of the door. "This is your room.. I'll be down stairs in the living room, which is on the right, you'll see it once you pass the kitchen.. " he said before pushing off the wall and heading down to the living room. As for why his mother had decided he needed a babysitter was far beyond him. The maids and butlers were still around the house, wasn't that the same? With a sigh, the male plopped down on the couch, the air from the cushions rushed out, making a puuffttt sound. He lifted his counsel controller and resumed his game, giving Chloe the time to unpack and waiting for her to come down the steps and into the living room.O O C: I am SOO SORRY! She looked up at him, before she walked in, she was only five foot four, but she felt small compared to him. She was slightly shocked his mother didn't tell him much. Chloe was told pretty much all that she would need to know about this job and the rules for River. He was not allowed to stay out late, no crazy parties, no big messes, he needs to clean up after himself....all the usual rules from parents. She looked around the room she would be staying in, reminding herself that she needed to text her parents to bring her other things that she couldn't bring on the ride here. "Oh no, I'm okay" she smiled over to him, she didn't have anything that she really wanted to ask since his mother had filled her in on most details. She looked back around the room that was just a little more bigger than her room. She set the things that she did have down in the room, she placed mostly everything in the nightstand's drawer, except her camera which she left on the top of the dresser. Chloe slipped her phone into her pocket as she walked out to the living room, sitting down on the couch as she looked up to the television, she didn't recognize the game, but she wasn't exactly the video game playing type. "Is this just what you want to do today?" she asked, not wanting to sound mean, but if this all that he liked to do then she didn't really understand why his mother would want her to babysit him, he seemed nice enough.

She looked slightly shocked when he practically ignored her question, instead directing one towards her which she found a bit odd. Regardless, she smiled and let it slide, taking the remote "Okay" she began to look for a movie before putting on a Disney movie. She noticed his smile out of the corner of her eye as she watched him for a moment. She was wondering what kind of message he had gotten that made him smile, and a red flag went up when he oh so suddenly said he was going to the bathroom. Still, Chloe wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, and that he didn't think she was some idiot who didn't notice things like when he smiled because of a text. It wasn't until she had heard the car starting did she immediately get up and go to the garage. She opened the door just in time to see the garage door closing and she crossed her arms. She took out her phone, calling his mother since she knew that they wouldn't have boarded yet. "Hello, Mrs. Marlow? Oh no, I was just wondering if I can have River's number? He wanted to go out to get something" Chloe looked down to her nails before her eyes widened slightly "he's what?" she asked, shocked that he wasn't even suppose to be let out of the house "...Oh no, nothing's wrong. I hope you have a wonderful vacation, you can rest assure that I won't let anything bad happen" Chloe smiled though she was heavily annoyed with this boy, what was he thinking? It hadn't even been an hour and he's already broken a rule. She just wished that Mrs. Marlow would've told her this part. She clued her in on everything else.
Chloe typed in his number, having imprinted it into her memory after she had been told it, she opened the garage door as she walked out into the driveway, looking around as if she would be able to see his car, already in her mind over what she was going to say. She was suppose to be in charge of him, didn't he know exactly how bad this was? What if she hadn't been smart and just thought he had disappeared? That would've been a tough explanation to the police had she called. As soon as she knew he had picked up, she spoke, not even giving him a chance to say hello or for her to introduce herself "Do you think i'm an idiot? You have ten minutes to get back home or i'm calling your mother" she said, figuring he couldn't have driven too far away, as she saw it, ten minutes was more than enough time for him to get the car back here.

"I'm a very busy man, and I haven't got all day!"XXXThe wind was rushing in through the open windows of River's car. It was a nice, hot sunny day, and because he usually liked to blast the music in his car, he thought the windows open would help. It wasn't a long drive to James's place, in fact River could make it there and back in five minutes, but he knew he'd need a few snacks to munch on. River decided to head to the nearest place, which happened to be a 7/11 and get himself the snacks. He parked the car and got out, locking it before walking inside. He grabbed chips and cookies and just about anything he thought would be good once he got baked before he headed to the counter to pay for everything. It was on his way back to the car that River's phone started to ring, the ringtone echoing in his ears and letting him know that it wasn't anyone he knew. Placing the bags in his trunk, he fished his cell out of his pocket and raised a brow at the number. He had no idea who it was, but it could be something important, so he hit the talk button as he shut the trunk. Before he could utter a syllable, he heard Chloe, the baby sitter's, voice on the other end telling him to go home or else. She could not be serious. Her threat of calling his mother was more empty than a black hole. Doing his best not to burst out laughing, the tall male cleared his throat and replied with "I'll be home in five.. Just went out to grab some snacks, chill out.." he said before he hit the end button.Of course River went to James's and got his weed before he headed home. When he pulled into the garage, he made sure the weed was well hidden before he popped the trunk and walked around the car. He grabbed the bags of snacks and pop and headed inside. "I'm back mom" he said jokingly. This girl was small, but boy did she take her job seriously. Although he thought it kind of ridiculous that she was trying to control a seventeen year old kid when she looked like she was two or three years younger than him. If his mother was going to leave him under someone's care, she should have at least made sure the person was older, or something. He walked in and saw Chloe, he gave her a wan smile "Sorry i left without saying anything, but I mean.. I'm seventeen with a license.. She tapped her fingers against her arm, getting ready to bombard him with a long string of sentences, all involving why she wasn't going to just 'chill out'. She looked down to her phone, slightly shocked when he just hung up on her, without even a goodbye. She walked back into the house, closing the garage as she looked up to the clock. She headed into the kitchen, opening everything as well as the fridge, everything was nearly completely stocked. God, if there was an apocalypse, he'll have enough to eat three meals a day for over a month, easily. "Just snacks my butt.." she mumbled to herself as she closed everything. She walked back to the garage when she heard it opening. She stopped him in his tracks as soon as he opened the door, not letting him pass "No, you're not sorry" she said plainly "And don't lie to me, your mom told me you aren't even allowed out of the house" she held out her hand now "So give me those keys, and tell me the real reason you went out. Your kitchen is stocked with food so I don't really see why you would need to go out for snacks, plus you lied to me about it rather than just telling me plainly you wanted to get food." her eyes flickered up to meet his "Of course if you refuse to tell me, I can just take your phone and check myself who you were texting right before you left, or did you seriously think I didn't notice?" she asked him, hand still out for his keys. A part of her wanted to check his car or his clothes for anything, though she wasn't sure quite yet what she would be searching for"Oh, and you're on video game restriction for the next week" she was extremely strict, not wanting this to happen a second time. She stayed quiet for a moment before deciding on another thing he would need to give her "And your license" she said simply, figuring that if he didn't have his car keys, it'll restrict him greatly, but should he find a set for the other cars or he borrows a friend, without his license he'll be in a lot of trouble should he be pulled over.

He pulled out his keys and let them fall into her small hand, looking down at her. He then fished out his wallet and dumped his license on top of the keys, deciding it was easier to just give her what she wanted. "Happy?" he asked her before slipping past her and into the house. River didn't bother going back to his game, he thought it pointless since he was on "video game restrictions", as if. He climbed up the stairs, knowing far too well that Chloe wouldn't be far behind, and headed for his room. He slipped in and locked the door, sliding down the door towards the floor. He took in a deep breath and let it out in a slow, heavy sigh. Why was he being baby sat? He was seventeen years old, what seventeen year old got baby sat? Chloe waited for the keys, thinking about where exactly she was going to place these things. She looked up at him, wondering if this was the first time ever in babysitting history that the babysitter was stared down by the child being babysat. She smiled up at him "thank you" she spoke as she stepped aside, thinking it might be good to follow him or at least see him in a couple of minutes to make sure he wasn't up to something bad. He hadn't given her the real reason. She walked to her room that she was staying in, placing his things in her backpack before she headed in the direction he had walked. She tried to remember which room his mother had said was his, and she figured out which one exactly it was when it was the only door that was locked. "River?" she called out his name as she stood outside, when was the last time she had ever dealt with this? Never. "...Nevermind, i'll get you for dinner" she told him, rubbing at her arms as she looked down to her phone, texting her father to see when he was dropping off her things. She thought about checking his room for any video game devices, but decided on doing that later when she got him for dinner. Her father came after a couple of minutes, a relief for her so that she had something to do rather than just standing around and doing nothing. She talked to her father for a couple of minutes, him just asking about River and her trying her best to answer those questions without making him worry about her job.
She carried/dragged her things, her kitten in her arm while her other hand dragged the rest of the things. She had made sure it was perfectly fine with mrs. Marlow that she kept the pet here multiple times. As long as Chloe cleaned up after the cat and kept her out of the parents' room, it was all okay. She set the cat down on the bed as she fully unpacked her things, keeping an eye on the clock as she put away her clothes. She finished by pushing her luggage under the bed and let out a small sigh, it was going to be a long two months.Chloe set down the food bowls for the kitten, named Holly. Chloe looked up to the clock one last time before walking out, the cat in her arms since she didn't want to leave her alone yet. The brunette knocked on River's door "Come on River, it's time for dinner" she called out, trying at the door again to see if it was still locked.

Chloe stood outside, frowning a bit when the door was still locked. Honestly, why did he even feel the need to lock it? It wasn't like she would just walk out of here and leave him alone forever because the door was locked. She tapped her foot lightly while crossing her arms, listening to his footsteps on the other side though she noticed something. Se could hear the faint sound of him spraying something, oh god help him if he thought he was actually going to go out after the incident earlier. As soon as he opened the door, she nearly gagged from the smell of the cologne. Why'd he spray so much? She could guess that it was most likely a nice scent, about ten spritz ago, now the overpowering smell was almost too much to handle. Like when girls in PE would spray half a gallon of perfume to hide any sweat they may have gotten from the earlier events. Chloe actually used to have a friend who would start coughing heavily because of the smell due to her allergies. She stepped to the side as she looked up at him "Why'd you spray so mu-" she cut herself off when she could faintly detect a different scent. Obviously, it wasn't as strong as the cologne, but she could still smell it "River...aside from the cologne you sprayed on yourself, what is that smell?" she asked calmly. She knew she knew it, she just couldn't remember from where. She pulled on his shirt lightly, technically dragging him from his room as she leaned closer, sniffing his shirt before cringing back. All she got was that cologne, but there had to be a reason behind him putting it on. He was hiding something, she knew it.
She didn't even ask as she stepped into his room, only because she wasn't going through anything, instead she was trying to get the faint smell again without smelling him. She stood there for the longest time, just thinking before she finally pinpointed it "River, did you just do marijuana?" she asked. She remembered a couple of years ago when her brother had a partner for some chemistry project that the partner smoked to feel relaxed. Her brother never smoked it himself, Chloe made sure of that and had tried to get him to tell his partner to stop. The only other time she ever heard of the guy was when her brother mentioned one day the old partner had been suspended for drugs. It was only two times it was ever done inside of her house, the first time she hadn't known what it was. By the second, she figured out exactly what was being smoked and ordered it to be outside if it is some necessity. Her eyes moved over to the window, noticing that it was opened before she turned to look over to the older teen "Don't you dare lie to me, just tell me the truth" she told him, waiting for his response.
