Quote:
A villager has left a tip about some form of virus happening to the local minipet wildlife. It is up to you to check it out!

Your character must catch one of the local minipets wandering around. Roll 1d10 and see what phrase you get from the list. Then use the minisglossary to pick a pet with that phrase in it (do not pick SE pets or RE ones!)

1. Tropical
2. Sweet
3. Black
4. White
5. Spooky
6. Cheese
7. Onion
8. War
9. Wish
10. Eyeball

Once they have caught one, they need to carefully examine it to make sure it has no signs of the virus (the symptoms are possibly purple, evil looking, very vicious) then they can let it go. If however, it is purple or shows possible signs of the virus, they should hand it in to the villager. Roll 1d4 to see what the villager gives you for your time.

1. You get nothing. They take the pet and go away.
2. You get a halfhearted thumbs up.
3. The pet bites you as you near away from it! Ouch! Add +2 to your miasma meter.
4. The villager looks at you. He says "they key to the door is 8888." He leaves.

More than happy to assist another villager in need, Marosa wandered into the mist and kept a wary eye out, not really liking the mist but just vaguely tolerating it. It didn't quite remind him of home, but the gancanagh found himself missing the dew-covered trees with the earl morning mist and wet grass, and bird songs as well as other chitters of noises.

He felt a pang of homesickness, but shook his head and cleared it out of his head, focusing on the task at hand. Now was not the time to want to visit back home, as tempting as it was. He had other issues to take care of first.

Spotting a spooky puck flying haphazardly in the distance, he approached it and held out an arm for it to perch on. It settled without a second thought, seeming very tired but allowing the faerie to glance over it with observant eyes, lifting a wing as gently as he could and scratching it under the chin when he was finished inspecting it.

"Sorry, little guy.. oi have to check everywhere," Marosa spoke softly to the creature as he gently parted its wings to look at its back in between, and then under its curled tail. He extended a finger and let the tail wrap around his digit, almost cuckling at how strange it felt - it almost tickled.

There was no miasma traces in or on the creature, and Marosa gave a soft smile to it as he patted its head.

He let it crawl up to his shoulder and perch there as he walked back to the waiting villager, inclining his head to them that it was alright for the villager to take the creature.

Even though it was pretty darn cute.

Reaching out to take the creature, the villager clicked his tongue and then jerked his hands back as the puck hissed, wanting nothing more than to nestle in the faerie's curly hair. It was most definitely warmer there, but Marosa remained still as the villager successfully retrieved it from his shoulder, not paying any heed to the protests of the poor puck.

Seemingly satisfied, the villager turned to regard Marosa for a moment. ".... the password is Eight eight eight. ... eight." And with that said, the villager nodded and wrapped his arms around the puck as he walked off, leaving Marosa more confused than ever.

The puck trilled at him as it left, flapping its wings and staring at him with big, sad eyes, and the faerie found himself wishing that he could take it home. He wasn't sure if it had to stay on the island - there was no telling with the rampant miasma that clouded over the land.

His thoughts slid back to the number.

8888? Just what did those numbers mean, and what was he supposed to use them for?

Scratching the back of his head, Marosa let out a long sigh. This place was rather confusing, and Marosa found that he had no idea when he thought he had an inkling - no, he just felt lost completely. At a loss for words, even before the villager had left, the faerie moved towards another area of the island, glancing around at his surroundings and the path he was taking. Idly, he wondered if there was a way to get a better look at the island... perhaps from a different angle?

There was only one way to find out. He had a feeling that a villager would know, so he headed to where the majority of them were to ask a few questions. Now that he'd done a few errands for them... he was sure that they'd be more than happy to point him in the right direction.
