[Quest 1] Interviewing the Villagers (Nkosazana)

Your character(s) must interview two villagers. Villagers are all cloaked for some reason. Villagers may get disinterested when you ask too many questions, your goal is to acquire as much IC information as possible. Maybe they hold the key in your leaving.

Roll 1d10 and match your dice roll to the result below. That is the response they give you to your question. Your character can ask any question they formulate with the response always being the result below. If you roll the same number, you get the same response.

1. The villager glowers at you but does not reply to your question
2. The villager seems busy chopping firewood and is fastidiously ignoring you
3. The villager turns to look at you. They wave... at someone past you.
4. The villager is fishing. They reel in an invisible fish.. or is it just nothing.
5. The villager responds with a hearty grunt.
6. The villager looks you straight in the eye. "No."
7. The villager seems glum beyond their cloak. They mutter a few words involving the terms 'despair' and 'death'.
8. The villager is too busy looking at their toes.
9. The villager is cooking roast ghost fish, it smells delicious. They take out a skewer, offer you it, and then eat it before you can accept.
10. The villager seems passed out. Maybe you should leave them alone...

If there was one thing that Nkosazana was certain would give them some answers to help them figure out where they had happened upon, it was asking questions. Unlike some of the places the horsemen had been, there were plenty of denizens here that could likely provide them some information if needed.

Like that one, perhaps?

She saw one of them just walking around, looking like he was not particularly occupied. There was no one else near him that could have been occupying him, at least. She could not exactly tell what was going on under that cloak, but that was alright. All she needed was to hear an answer from him.

"Sir!" Nkosazana approached, raising a hand in an attempt to get the villager's attention. As expected, the villager turned towards her, and she pushed forward the rest of the way until she was in front of him. She spent a moment observing his features and putting them to memory in case there was a certain way the villagers presented themselves here (besides cloaked, anyway). Interesting...

Well, she had his attention. What should she ask? Perhaps she should ask where they were. "Could you tell me where we are, possibly?"

He gave a loud, hearty grunt. She assumed that meant yes, he could, but that did not exactly tell her where they were -- it just told her that he did, indeed, know where they were. That was a start, at least, but Nkosazana needed a bit more information before she could proceed.

"You do know where we are?" Another hearty grunt. "Can you tell me where we are, then?" And still, another hearty grunt. This villager did not exactly seem too keen on answering her questions with anything other than an acknowledgement that he could, indeed, answer her question. Perhaps she should try a different approach with a different villager. "Well, thank you for your time, then."

With a hearty grunt again, he was off, and she was too, looking for another villager she could quiz.

Nkosazana's wandering brought her near a body of water, where she found another cloaked villager. This villager appeared to be more occupied, though, holding out a fishing pole.

Fishing was relaxing, she could not blame the villager for partaking in it. Part of her felt bad for walking up to them and interrupting their leisure time, but Nkosazana knew she needed answers and while she was patient enough, she was unwilling to simply wait for them to be done with their fishing.

And so, she approached, walking up by their side and offering a, "Hello." She didn't seem to get any particular acknowledgement other than a nod, as the villager was deep in concentration. Nkosazana decided she could press on despite that, as the villager didn't necessarily seem offended. "Can you tell me where we are in relation to Halloweentown?"

Instead of answering her question, the villager shouted, "Wait one moment! I got a big one!" They pulled back, yanking on the fishing rod and reeling the rope in. It did seem like a rather large one considering how hard it was for the villager to get the fish to come on shore -- well, that was until she saw what was at the end of the rope.

Concerned, Nkosazana offered, "There's nothing--"

"I got it!" The villager turned to Nkosazana, excitement in their eyes. "Do you see it? It's a fantastic fish!"

The concern on Nkosazana's face grew, but she answered a soft, "Yes, it's very nice. Congratulations!" The enthused villager thanked her and moved to put the so-called fish, a fish made out of air, apparently, inside a bucket. The horsewoman, on the other hand, decided that maybe interviewing the villagers was not going to get her very far, and she quickly left to devise a new method of information gathering.
