Another hour or so later and Camilla was stomping her way back into the forest! She was annoyed now!
This time, instead of simply trusting her single Skullpin to to all the work, Camilla had stopped off at the general store and bought a bunch of safety pins! She also asked for a even longer towel. And so, when she was done, it looked like she was wearing some odd dress. But, there was very little chance of it coming off now! She would not be thrown in the buff again!
Over the course of the hour, the odd feeling in her head and chest had started to stand out more. She had been resisting the odd paranoia and unusual aggression until now, but as she pouted and got over being flustered by her second round of indecent exposure, she just didn't have the wherewithal to fight it any more. Soon, thoughts of conspiracy drifted lightly into her head as she gave into it. Was that man in league with the Basilisk? Surely he couldn't be... Could he...? While her logical side was struggling with that, she didn't bother fighting the aggression. She needed to fight the Basilisk anyway, might as well be fired up!
This is why, when she enters the clearing where the Serpent lay coiled, she didn't even wait for it to get in a proper battle pose! Automatically, she slides into her own battle pose before quickly lunging at the Basilisk!
Before it could even get fully uncoiled, she aims a powerful aggression fueled kick at it's side! However, before she could get some distance, the serpent hisses in pain and lashes out with it's tail! The tail swipes her sending her stumbling sideways, but the Dormouse ghoul couldn't help but feel satisfied by the Basilisk's angry hissing.

This unusual aggression... Camilla didn't feel any delight from it... In fact, it caused her stomach to knot a bit uncomfortably because it reminded her slightly of the wrath she was inflicted with during the Red Mist event... Still... She couldn't deny that it was effective...
In the time it took Camilla to get her footing after the tail strike, the Serpent was up and ready to attack! Motion, that was what was important in a fight! She couldn't just sit around waiting for her opponent to come to her! But, she couldn't be careless either! She had to balance motion with caution. It was because of this thought that Camilla choose not to immediately retaliate, and instead wait a few seconds.
Seeing her pause, the Basilisk lunges recklessly at her! While a fang nicked her arm, Camilla mostly dodges the attack, plus she also delivers a strong whirling kick to the serpents jaw on it's way by!
It was strange... Some of these moves she'd learned, but never completed successfully... Was she just getting better? Or was this unusual aggression improving her skills... She didn't like the idea of the latter...

Unfortunately, two things were happening at this point. Camilla was starting to fret over the effectiveness of the unusual aggression, and the Basilisk was starting to take her more seriously...
These two things resulted in Camilla's next punch doing less damage then her previous kick had... She also got careless and nicked her arm on one of the serpents fangs...

Soon enough, everything was starting to pile on top of her... The paranoia wasn't helping with worry over the aggression, and the distant voices she swear kept hearing, had her on edge about losing her towel again...
All these distractions added up to her getting a rather poor strike in, and taking a stronger strike from the Basilisk!

Her next attack wasn't any better then her last... A light grazing punch to the Basilisk's side and nothing more... So distracted was she, that the Basilisk was able to get a bite on the tip of her tail again! "Owie! Let go!" she yelps as pain rips through the appendage!
Quickly, she jerks her tail out out of the serpent's mouth before taking a weak battle pose! By this point, she was resisting even the aggression as the odd paranoia had her convinced this had something to do with the Red Mist! While her Miasma infliction might have only been at it's first stage, Camilla's own imagination was running wild now!

The advantage Camilla had given herself at the start was quickly diminishing... Finally, it would be a powerful strike from the Basilisk that would set her to rights.
While Camilla was fretting, the Basilisk rears up and headbutts her hard! The force sends her back into a nearby tree and briefly knocks the wind from her! "Oof! O-owie..." she chokes before letting herself slide down the tree... As she regains her breath and shakes her head, she realizes she was being silly! She'd let the worry and paranoia distract her and she was going to lose if she didn't get her focus back! The strike had snapped her out of her paranoid musings and she realized there just wasn't enough anger with this unusual aggression for it to be related to the Red Mist. By now, she would have been mad with wrath after all the strikes she'd taken!
This realization, plus the fact that she accepted there was nothing to be done about the aggression right now, helped to ease her worries. And soon, after taking a few deep calming breaths, she had her focus back! Getting up slowly, she takes a proper battle pose before letting the aggression fuel her movements! The Serpent thinking her beat, was the one being the careless now!
Before it could even react, Camilla had lunged at it and delivered two swift punches to it's belly before jumping back!

The Basilisk was surprised by her sudden aggression and wasn't prepared for her attack! The serpent roars in pain and anger as it takes the unguarded attack before whipping at her with it's tail in retaliation! The tail clips her side and causes Camilla to stumble sideways a bit, but fortunately because she was focused now she was able to regain her footing quickly!
Wasting no time, Camilla lunges at the Basilisk and delivers two more punches to it's chest before jumping back!
Both mouse and Basilisk were getting tired at this point, but the Basilisk was in worse shape then Camilla was! She was so close... She couldn't give up now!

Defiantly, the Basilisk roars at her in a attempt to intimidate her! However, Camilla stood firm and slid into her battle pose.
Seeing it's attempt to drive her off wasn't working, the Basilisk gets a wicked idea! Suddenly without warning, it lunges at her and sinks it's teeth into her towel! Camilla both winces and gasps as her eyes widen in surprise! Fortunately, while the fangs of the serpent nick her thy as the pierce the fabric they otherwise miss her. "Oh no you don't!" she yelps as the Basilisk tugs only to find the towel wouldn't come off! Quickly while it was confused, she smacks the Basilisk hard on the nose to make it let go! Instantly it releases the fabric and recoils before hissing in frustration! It didn't get why it hadn't been able to pull her towel off and it's confusion left it open for attack!
Before it could even attempt to dodge, Camilla lunges at it and delivers a final punch to the Basilisk's stomach! That seemed to be all she wrote, because as Camilla quickly jumps back, the Basilisk rears up and roars it's anger to the sky above before collapsing in a heap! As the light leaves the serpents single gem like eye, the eye crystalizes into a gem like ball with a slited pupal in the center and falls out of the socket onto the ground!
For a long moment, Camilla just stood there ready to attack again. But finally, after the eye falls out and the giant serpent remains motionless she realizes she had truely won! "I beat it...? Wow! I did! Yay yay!" she cheers as her battle pose quickly switches to her excitedly jumping up and down! While the aggression tried to make her feel disappointed the battle was over, Camilla was too excited and happy over her victory to care! It wouldn't be till a few minutes later that the fact that she just killed a minipet would sink in... As her eyes caught a glimpse of the giant serpent's corpse, a pang of guilt ran through her...
This quickly sobered her up and made her frown... It was sad really... That something as rare as a giant minipet would have to be eliminated... And it wasn't even a food mini... Would anything even eat it...? Or would it just go to waste...? Sighing a bit as much of the excitement over her victory leaves her, Camilla walks over and picks up the crystalized eye. This Basilisk had given her a lot of trouble... And who knows how many creeple it hurt before her... She still felt bad for killing it, but she knew that if she didn't do it someone else would have. Likely someone who didn't give a jack...
In her studies of ninja and monks, Camilla had learned of a way the Asiatic halloweeners prayed. Slowly, with the Basilisk Eye clasped in both hands, she closes her eyes and bows her head respectfully before praying for the departed Basilisk. When she was finished, she felt better and was glad she'd at least paid respects to the poor mini... It had afterall gone insane and it likely wasn't it's fault either... Finally, after thinking on it a bit, she decides to take the Basilisk Eye as proof of her victory.
She was still pretty riled up by the aggression and she took the time in walk back to try and calm down. By the time she reached the village she was mostly at ease and couldn't help but smile at the cloaked man's surprise. "Amazing Miss! You actually beat it! Several creeple have tried and failed!" he exclaims in surprise which causes her to give a bit of a merry tail wag. However, as she hints at a possible reward for her victory she would be the one surprised! Normally she wouldn't ask for a reward because the act of helping was reward enough. But, she'd worked hard to beat the Basilisk and found herself very uncomfortable more then once! After all she went through, it wouldn't hurt to ask for even just a small reward this time would it? However, it turned out she already had her reward!
"Reward? Oh! That Basilisk Eye you have there should be reward enough! Quite rare those things are! Mhm! Giant ones that is! A regular Basilisk Eye is small, marble sized even! Plus they hold no power after being removed! But a Giant Basilisk Eye, now that's something special Miss! Not only does make a wonderful souvenir, but it has the power to briefly paralyze Apex Pets! Something... That might be useful to ya later if your game miss..." He explains jovially. This causes Camilla to become quite excited! Not only was the eye beautiful, but she could do the Basilisk justice by making use of it's eye! She had beaten that Serpent all by herself, and it was truely one of her first major battle victories! Knowing she had a souvenir that wasn't just pretty but useful to remind her of her victory made her quite happy indeed!
The not so subtle quest hint didn't go unnoticed and after prodding the man a bit on the location of this next quest, Camilla happily tucks the Basilisk Eye away in her pouch before making her way over to the corral.
