Backdated to Mid June

At first, not reporting the massive blonde who'd stolen her starseed had been because the attack felt personal and it needed to be dealt with personally. Not facing him directly had been because, standing on equal footing, she had no right to force him to do anything. Figuring out how to deal with what he had done had been a struggle, then her interests had turned in another direction and the problem he posed took a back seat as time stretched between the encounter and the present.

She never forgot though. Cinnabar remembered ever moment of his hand shoved into her chest. She remembered, in particular, when she came across his listing in the roster, naming him one Captain Titanlåvenite. He was Spec Ops, like she was. It was wonder she hadn't met him before.

Then, her promotion came and with it, new power and authority. Now, she had the leverage she needed. Before she settled into her new role, loose ends needed to be tied up and a new path forged. It wasn't hard to get information on a tall, muscular officer with a skull on his shoulder and a giant hammer. Asking around got clues to his whereabouts, which it was her luck to be the in the barracks she also inhabited.

A human officer, living in Dark Kingdom space? Few do that willingly. No family? No friends? Do you have no life outside of your duties, no where to turn to, like me?

She highly doubted their situations were similar, but it was a convenience. All she had to do then was find an inhabited room and wait to see who claimed it. Cin found failure with two others before she caught him leaving one day. Red eyes narrowed, she'd watched him go and resolved to confront him when he returned, which is why, hours later, she was leaning on the wall beside his door. Ankles crossed as she pressed her shoulders to the wall, she studied her claws with absent interest, the other hand tucked into the deep pockets of her General's coat.

"Titanlåvenite." Cinnabar greeted him, her voice flat as she lifted her gaze to find his. "I need to speak with you."

As months had dragged out from the ignominy of the New Years Operation, the failing of the Negaverse to conduct anything close to an honorable and believable purpose, Titan had hoped that this particular shoe would never drop. There'd never been inquest from the acting Sovereigns, Laurelite or Apatite, nor word come down from Howlite or any General in the Special Operations. Cinnabar had vanished into the dark. Every bit gone from sight and sound as the likelihood of anyone with a half-destroyed and chaos glued starseed bearing the name 'Mia.' It was a hope that was equaled by his suspicion that nothing about his service in the Negaverse turned out well, and the latter proved the more accurate- Cinnabar appears at least. And a General now. Was she waiting specially for that upper hand in both rank and power? Why not. But what will come of the assured victory, and what is her expectation? I don't know anything about her. She is not Mia, and even that Mars Knight of dream I did not know well.

Titan didn't hesitate in approaching to the door and where the woman waited with a casual air that he didn't trust to be more than an act. He didn't put a hand to the door or make a move to enter the room beyond. He met her gaze without malice or question in his own- his expression was that of awaiting orders. "It is a General's freedom to speak when you want to be heard. I am listening, General Cinnabar. "

His voice was as deep as she remembered, his shoulders as wide. He was not much changed, all these months later, if a little more haggard maybe. Or that could just be her over thinking things. He was living in the Dark Kingdom, rather than in the outside world.

She smiled, but there was no humor to it as she straightened up, pulling her hand from her pocket to wave at the door.

"Inside, Captain. Take a seat." This was just between them... she didn't need an audience to it. The things that had happened that night cast doubt on her loyalty and she was loath to spread that around. It would be enough to dance around it with this man, when she had no concrete evidence of what happened after he pulled her starseed from her chest.

Cinnabar rubbed her fingers over the jagged scar that cut from shoulder to hip, feeling the phantom pain of a hand inside of her. Only three people had ever touched her starseed... two of the others had done it to give her the gift of power. He had done it to take it away from her.

"Tell me what happened after you stole my starseed." The half-youma snapped out when they were inside, shoving the door shut with a heel. No sense in giving him time to come up with some story to excuse what he had done, or cover up what had happened after. How quick are you on your mental feet, Captain?

As she waited, she paced like a caged beast, her eyes on the furnishings he'd chosen to surround himself with. Half of her attention was on him, though, out of the corner of his eyes. Searching for facial cues.

While he entered the room wordlessly, he did not take a seat. She performed as expected, a form of aggression in her voice and choices of cutting them off from the halls. Privacy can protect the subject...but vengeance, too. Where does she plan to go with this?

His answer came in the same incurious cadence as the rest of his words had had. "I pulled the Bull from the wall to follow the order for retreat. The policy I know is that enemies are not to be brought to the Dark Kingdom, but he was still useful and so not to be terminated. Some enemies tailed by aura. I could not win over two knights and a senshi, with only one arm to fight with. They won him back. I've reported to Laurelite I will recapture or kill him. "

"Was there anything else, General?"

The story was a plausible one and it would explain why she hadn't heard of him returned to the ranks of the Negaverse or killed. Rescued, as most of the others were. It was hard to point to anything in particular in the story that gave her a wary feeling, but she could acknowledge it could be her own sense of betrayal that saw deception where there was none.

"Describe the knights and senshi to me. Be detailed. I want to know them if I meet them again." She commanded. Truthfully, she was enjoying throwing around her proverbial weight, stretched out to feel the limits of this new rank she held. Seeing how much he would bow to her now, where he would baulk. The General kept her face smooth, holding her expression to little more than an upwards tilt of the corners of her mouth.

Cinnabar continued to pace, making a slow circuit of the room. It looked lived in, more so than the rooms where people over-nighted. Again, curiosity poked at her, but she pushed it aside. Maybe she'd ask around about it. From what she knew, he'd been in service for a while now, surely there were people friendly with him who would know why he was here.

"I've decided to assist you in your recapture." As she passed the bed, she stooped slightly to slide clawed fingers across the blanket, pinching the cloth to twitch it straighter and smooth it down again. "I have a particular skill set that is ideal for tracking down and apprehending targets. If I had known sooner, I would have offered to help. Do you have anyone else working on this operation with you?"

He couldn't decide between surprise she was asking him, of all people, to describe any sort of detail on people he may have seen for less that five minutes at least five months previous, or concern that he'd garnered a reputation better than what he was certain he ever merited somewhere. Titan toungued the back of his labret, both of the centers of his brows lifting with uncertainty. It is direct order. All the dark must be light. Don't fish for words and don't hesitate.

"The senshi had blue hairs, and he wore the colors of red and white. There were marks on his skin. " He hadn't put much more in depth detail into any of his reports to the database either. At least saying the so-called descriptions didn't require correct spelling. It didn't sound like something anyone could really use to pinpoint Kerberos. But he hadn't stayed to see the knight that Hvergelmir had called on her ring. A mix of a car and Kairatos himself would have to do. "Both knights were women. One was a gown like rainbows and wore the Cosmos star, her hair was purple. But it was dark. The other wore a breastplate and other armor. She moved much faster and stronger than I can. Not much skin to see if she had marks or scars. Red and gold and she wore the symbol of Mars. "

He didn't have more to offer, so waited as she seemed to examine the surroundings. Her declaration of intention was met with the same leaping enthusiasm as a teacher assigning a twenty page paper over a holiday- none at all. It didn't require an answer, one way or another, so Titan left out commenting at all on her magnanimity. "I work with Lieutenant Alkahest of the Information Division. "

"Is that all you can remember of them?" Cinnabar snorted, finally coming back around from her circling his room. "Next to useless, aren't you?"

It wasn't much to go on... but the mention of a Mars knight among the rescuers had her lips pulled back from her fangs and a low, rattling growl rolling from her throat. Memories of a dark haired knight surfaced... Riding a fiery horse, chain in her hands. Her skin had glowed... Was it the same woman? It would not surprise her... Damn Mars knights. ******** bond they all had, echoed in the false memories that plagued her... She was almost glad one of them had been Mars, just for the pleasure of taking out her ire on them.

"What marks did the senshi have? Did they glow? Did you see the knights' weapons? Did the Mars knight have dark hair or light hair?" Cinnabar clucked her tongue as she wandered closer, her heels clicking against the floor in an easy pace. Her eyes fell on him and focused intently, measuring the width of his shoulders and the difference in their heights. It wasn't often she was out matched... she wasn't happy about it now. There was much about him that annoyed her right now, actually. The way his face screwed up in confusion. How he refused to sit and instead stood tall and still in his room, unmoved as she prowled. He seemed unbothered by her change in rank or the increase in youma she displayed, unperturbed by the danger she should have represented... it pissed her off. Just looking at him made her angry, remembering how his hand had felt in her chest.

Her fingers twitched and curled in her pockets, claws sliding from her fingertips. She had waited a long time to find him again, to have the power she needed to confront him with. He'd laid her out once... he wouldn't be able to do it again.

"How about: Why did you feel the need to rip out my starseed?" Cinnabar snarled from behind him before she darted forward, her fist punching forward at a spot between his broad shoulder blades. Maybe attacking from behind was a cowardly thing to do, maybe she had provoked him that time in the fun house, but all she could see, was willing to see, was the wrong he had done her and the embarrassment of failure after stooping so close to treason. It was her own fault, but he was a far easier target for her anger.

Her next words were questions, but they sounded like the sort that people used when they didn't actually want or care for an answer. They were questions meant as insults. He was used to those. Peers and Teachers both had used lots of questions as insults as he grew up. She asks what she already has an answer to in her mind because it makes her feel powerful, smart, and in control. Shes not actually interested in the answers to other questions either. It's chatter. Distraction. She throws words one way and she paces and paces like a cat in a small cage waiting to attack. She's going to try something.

When she planted herself behind him, it couldn't have been more plainly telegraphed that the attack was imminent. He waited for it, shocked enough by sensation to inhale sharply when the hand slid 'round starseed. The feel of the unsubtle hand all pain, he had to go down to one knee. There wasn't choice in it. He didn't worry about it. It was her aim to see him put beneath her, for whatever motivation. A petty, simple one. She is angry. She is bitter and betrayed because I 'beat' her? Some other read of the carnival? It is months ago now. It is something of that, but it is simple. It is not great, no more than I am. Why did they promote her? She is ruled by simple things. There must have been some reason? She is no lord. She is nothing I would follow- she is prideful, boasting, and under all her anger's reins. Petty. But she can kill me if she likes. There is no one to answer to. The Sovereigns would not care. Obsidian is gone. She is a risen general. The Sovereigns have some reason. And I am just a captain. Focus.

Titan breathed hard, kept his gaze forward and at the juncture of the wall with the floor to try to bring it away from swimming into clarity. "I am at your disposal-"

"- General."

Her hand connected with his body, slid through flesh as though it were liquid, and found the shining gem at his core. Her fingers curled like a cage around it and she had the satisfaction of watching as his knees gave way and he fell. Watching him kneel before her gave her a surge of pleasure that was unexpectedly intense and hit her deep, on a primal level.

He was an opponent. She had brought him low. She'd won.

There was a sense of rightness restored to the world and for a long moment she savored it. He spoke and she drank in the submission in the words and the tone, the flat acceptance. Soon a new sound broke free and it rumbled through the half-youma's throat down into her chest.

"Yes, you are." She murmured, her voice raspy with her purr. Her thick fingers relaxed and released their hold. She withdrew them with considerably more gentleness than she'd shoved them into him and the General stepped backwards, moving out of his reach.

"In case it needs to be stated to be clear, if you touch me again, I'll kill you. That's all, Captain." Cinnabar stretched her fingers, knuckles cracking, as she turned to head for the door. "I'll be keeping an eye on your progress with the Bull. If you uncover something relevant, I expect to hear about it."

Will you, General? Is that to win my fealty? I am supposed to fear if I die in such a way. Maybe it is what she fears- she chooses to wield it it as the strongest threat she knows. Do not look up. Do not give them the weapons they search for to return the yoke to it's place. Do not let them know it is loose. It will be gone, either way. In death or in kneeling to that other death of forgetfulness and a new name. I do not fear it.

If he told himself enough, if he remembered the wasting of his Lord, the creatures of the Hall of Shadows, of smiling Bazzite, the blighted dreams of the land and the conspicuous lack of anything wholesome being done by the Negaverse for the beating heart of the Earth, then he could convince himself that death wasn't the worst option. It was half a lie, really, that he didn't fear it. But he didn't want to go more than half. It seemed, in its own way, a dark and swallowing maw on the other side of the wall he stood on and tried to balance his way across. If there was no care for life at all, one despaired, or became callous. He was leaning too far that way, more and more, losing voice and learning all the ways of living a weapon.

He didn't know what to make of it, but kept still and silent. If she could savor her victories, there was less reason for her to return of her own time and volition any time soon. Docile, he stayed motionless but for breathing on the floor until the sound of her steps were less than echoes. He didn't feel like resting there anymore. He vanished to the city once more.
