Time passed, but the ache never really got any better. Ash could forget it a good deal of the time, especially with something to occupy her mind, but it didn't go away forever. The times it came back were the times it became necessary to find a distraction, and right now, she had just the thing in her subspace pocket.

The only needful thing at that point was someone to entertain her. The silver cat had a good idea of who to seek out for this particular thing. Not Nadia, not Colin... Quenton was just the one. So, after packing up what she needed, Ash left HQ to make the journey across town to the new shop slash apartment. She had been startled to hear about what he'd had planned for it, then pleased. It would make for a nice place to lounge about and receive her adoration, from time to time.

The shop, when she arrived, had a cheery front. The picture of a cat painted in the window was cute, if a bit too pale for her liking. It should have been grey, really. She would have happily sat for pictures or painting if he had needed it. Oh well.

If she remembered right, he'd put in a private cat door... just pop around the corner... and there it was! Entirely pleased with herself, Ash slipped into the back of the cafe as though she owned it. Maybe she had never been here before, BUT. It belonged to one of her senshi and that was good enough, eh? A couple bouncing steps and a jump put her up onto a table, her slender tail curling over her back. The back was empty at the moment. Not a bad thing, except it didn't contain the person she wanted.

"Quenton?" Ash called out, leaving her perch to head for the stairs leading upstairs. "Queeeeentooooonn..."

While actual food preparation occurred down at the front of the shop next to the coffee and tea implements, Quenton had found that pre-measuring into reusable containers certain ingredients, like 2 tablespoons of caster suger or 3 tablespoons of flour, streamlined the process of the mug cakes. They were already fast, personal cakes made fresh within minutes of ordering, but not having to measure out the exacts on the fly for common measures meant that five minutes could become four, and that the drink and cake could be served together. So it was that the voice floating up the stairs from below came to him as he stoppered a pyrex tube filled with almond flour and placed it into a test tube rack for safe and convenient portage to the cafe.

That is a familiar voice. Female, knows my name. Higher toned, bold. Suspicion was confirmed as soon as he got to the stair and started down it- there was a familiar, slinky grey body at the base. "Welcome, Ash. "

He trusted that she wouldn't be speaking in the open if there was any 'Normals' present in the cafe, so there was no note of panic or concern to his own voice or countenance. "Were you dropped off, or did you walk? It's something of a trek from the Tower to campus area. Can I get you anything? Just let me set this down under the barista counter. "

A pleasant chirp greeted the tall blonde when he emerged. She let him descend the steps before she pounced on him, wrapping herself around his ankles in rubbed greetings. He looked good, or at least what she could tell from the worms-eye-view she got. Same glasses, hair growing out, and new cat themed shirt. She approved of that shirt.

"Oh, I walked! It certainly is a trek... I feel practically ready to expire every time I make it, but I'll admit, its always worth it to come see you. And I brought something this time!" She chirped as she angled her head back. One final stroke of her cheek and the silver cat allowed Quenton to continue on his way, taking up a position beside him as they went. "If you have a little something sweet to drink, I would not say no! Has business been good?"

A lift of her head brought various smells of people, cats and food to the sensitive little pink nose and it wrinkled, her face scrunching up as her jaws gaped.

"How many cats do you have here?" She said in mock concern. "No wonder I haven't seen much of you, if you have to cater to all of them AND the people who come in. Has that brute of yours been helping you out, or just adding to the work load?"

Faust... his smell was here, but it was faint. It could have come down from upstairs, or been on Quenton's clothes, rather than evidence of him being in the common area. If he was here at all, he was being suspiciously quiet and she decided then and then to get as much attention out of their shared senshi as she could before the big black puff decided to join them.

"Business has been well. We can talk in the VIP room. Less hazard of walk-ins finding visored cats that way. " A quick stop at the barista stand yielded a blended ice and creme base made with whole milk and whipped cream. Quenton added in 3 pumps of caramel syrup, 3 pumps of toffee nut syrup and caramel drizzle, put the notice up on the door and the barista stand that he was at the VIP room, and led her back to it. He could stand in the door of it, leaned on the frame, to be able to both block sight of her and chat, while keeping an eye out for customers or appointments. "What Faust adds in workload and complaints, he keeps me together otherwise. I still have no team or regular patrol partners, save him. "

"There's five cats that are here right now, and then Faust. "

Her squinching up her nose in complaint was interesting, considering the essential oils and cleaning solution that he used. It was non-toxic for people and animals, but still rid surfaces of allergens, germs, fungus, bacteria and proteins like grease, fat, and biologicals. Could she legitimately still smell an unpleasant odor from the presence of so many people and cats? He hoped not. The solution to that, in a holistic sense, might be limited to nightly incense. He sat the coffee-version of a Hogsmeade Butterbeer on the table for her one they were safely in the VIP room. "I've been wanting to talk to you about another phone app, if you had the time. What did you bring by?"

"Ah, but I'm such a charming face! I'm sure I could dazzle them with my winning personality." Ash laughed as she trailed along after him, her paws light and her pace bouncy. Small paws covered the area from back to stand and back again, tail ever up and gently curling in interest. This place was rather nice, she did have to admit. Quenton had an eye for detail towards the comfort of his guests and residents. Any cat would be happy to live here and it was sorely tempting to see how long her welcome would last. It would mean sharing with that brute of a tom cat he lived with though, and she rather liked her foot-loose life.

The Lady gathered herself to make the jump to the table and then paced along it primly, her steps delicate. Small ears perked at his mention and it diverted her from the sweet-smelling drink he had prepared specially for her. Such a sweet boy...

"Oh, wonderful! You have an app idea? Oh do tell, Darling. My thing can wait, its not going anywhere. I'm terribly interested in what you've come up with." She chirped as she finally tucked her legs under her and sat, paws neatly together. "I have been a little distracted, but I haven't been able to come up with anything else on my own, which is a shame. It seems like there should be lots of things we could add to make powered life easier and safer."

"Two things, really. There's a primer, and it's great that it is there. But it isn't as living a document, or as in depth, as could be useful to the community as different senshi and knights pursue different venues of research. There is an enemy database accessed through the senshiphone's that doesn't look to have been touched since 2011. But I was thinking more than just a database of enemies. A full Wiki, with editable articles accessible through the phones to inform each other about how magic works, homeworlds and findings on them, artifacts, the glowing lines people are sporting, royal crystals, the Mirror universe, other universes if we find them, the silver milennium, reincarnations...everything. Everything that is forgotten and lost to regular life that we could all have access to at our leisure to research. "

"And it won't be lost with mentors being corrupted or killed."

He looked to the front windows, the coast of social space still well clear. "The second was a senshi version of Twitter. The black watch tried to make it more accessible to each other to call and set up alliances, friendships and patrol partners. But that hasn't worked at all. Everyone is still too isolated. But they're young. They're used to 'folllowing', 'liking', and hashtagging. They might all be more inclined to speak to each other and arrange meet ups if its posted to boards, updates and 140 characters all accessible from the phones."

"I've been meaning to update that Primer again... its been over a year since the last time and its still not as fleshed out as I would like it to be..." Ash murmured as she turned her attention to her cup, hiding her embarrassment over that. "I've... been a little busy."

Busy chasing a senshi gone to the other side. Busy worrying about the ones she still had. Busy trying to be a good guardian, even when it always felt like she wasn't doing enough. Oh well. She was trying and that had to count for something.

"I think the Primer should stay as an introductory to guide to new senshi, no sense losing them in a sea of history and information when they're just learning how to swim, but a larger wiki database to record and share information would indeed be a wonderful thing." The cat took a questioning lick of the warm drink before she lifted her head, her tongue running over her mouth. "That is easily done, with a bit of committed time on my part. Or whomever felt up to the task, with my assistance."

Ash considered the idea of a senshi version of Twitter, her nose wrinkling a little in thought. As one who adored social media of all kinds, she felt something of a thrill at the thought of something like that for their faction, where she could be her true self, rather than pretend to be a cat-obsessed owner posting too many pictures. The guardian in her, though, was wary... it was easy to abuse such a thing for frivolous uses, as she herself had done in the past. Did the usefulness of it outweigh the ones who wouldn't take it seriously? She could hope.

"Maybe integrating it all would be the way to go." She said finally, pausing a moment to lap up some of her drink before continuing. "A wiki with a forum and personal feeds. A one stop shop to share and store information, exchange longer messages and post short content. Yes, that sounds good. I like this idea!"

Ash beamed as she lifted her face to her companion, milk like a pale spot on her chin.

"Are you volunteering to help me compile the information to start with, and make the transfer from the primer to the new wiki?" She teased, her tail flicking playfully. "I could use a good work horse."

Is she going on about the primer remaining simple in reaction to some impression I thought it needed to be more indepth? I'm pretty certain I expressed that I thought a wiki, and the reason I was approaching it, was for it to be the less simplistic, more comprehensive specifically to keep the primer a ....primer. Unless she's just thinking out loud a review of her own opinions and concurring? Quenton resisted pulling his mouth into a line. "Integration on the back end seems fine, for those who want to use it. For the young, though, they'll ignore a feed system that seems too connected to something 'tl;dr' like a wiki. Having a front end functionality seems important. An icon and interface to the feed with personalization of Icons, microblogging, and following of their powered friends feeds. "

"A friendslist would be incredibly important. Just calling them friends on a program will give a sense of belonging and closeness that they may lack otherwise, and encourage them to talk to each other more than they do when it's just an undesignated name in a contacts list of their phones. " Her teasing was recognized, but he didn't consider it much teasing. "If you like, yes. I'm available and willing to do whatever I can to help with the programs as far as gathering and collating information, or offering graphic design ideas. Getting the other Executors in on it, and any Black Watch members willing, would be ideal. I can try to talk to them- Athene is all I've had contact with. Ganymede not at all- I don't even know if they're still alive. "

"I suppose it's a matter as simple as sending a text and seeing if there's even an answer from any of the Jovians. " Quenton pulled his cellphone from his pocket, thumbed the interface expertly, and snapped a shot of the Mauvian with her foamed chin. "Are you busy with other tech at the moment?"

The guardian waved a paw before she began to clean her face. She heard the click of the phone, but she only drew herself up a little more, making a prettier pose.

"I'm sorry, I meant all of one piece with backend integration, as you said. Don't mind me. If you think this is a good application, then I agree with you and I would be happy to work on it." Chin free of cream, Ash settled back and shook herself, her soft fur puffing up at the motion.

"If you would care to mock up an interface for me, that would be quite helpful. I'm really good with the back end, but I think my design work is sadly lacking... And gathering up whatever expanded information you have to start filling the wiki with would be wonderful as well."

"I have a couple of things on my work table, so to speak..." Paws were placed neatly before her, head tilting just a little to the side as she thought. She looked away from him then, her tail curling idly. "I'm working on a tracker, as a matter of fact. I've lost one of my own already, and two were taken then returned... alive, but injured. Its a little selfish, maybe, but... I would like to keep closer tabs on my senshi. If one disappears, I want to be able to find them, wherever they are. Tracking by phone isn't enough."

"You should definitely contact the others, though." Ash said as she turned her smile on him. "They can fill in any gaps in the information you have and expand it, if nothing else. And its good to interface with other senshi. Was there anything besides the wiki and micro blog you wanted to suggest?"

Was something good just because he thought it was? Likely a flattery. He'd never known the silver Mauvian to be negative about anyone save the negaverse or possibly Faust. "A tracker should definitely take priority. The threat of abduction or corruption is more immediate at all times. Learning can still happen through mentorship in the meantime, and information will take time to organize anyway. "

"For now, the wiki and micro-blog updating is probably enough to go on with. Well..unless we wanted a Watch specific app... one that could clearly and transparently display current supplies known and the next meeting or drop location, or who's turn it is to be on patrol specifically to be available to teach and help." Quenton shrugged, "But that is, again, very further down a list of necessaries compared to a way to track the missing. "
"Were any of the other Mauvians helping you?"

Ash scrunched her face up, thinking on his question. She smoothed her features out again as quickly, but the reaction was hard to hide.

"I'm afraid not. Not that I expect them to, really... the only one of them that have shown any significant interest in technology is Snowball, and he's as likely to cause it to blow up as he is to be useful." She said as she rolled her shoulders. "********* is a fair hand at it, but I haven't seen her in a good long while... I don't really understand it. Mauvians should be the most advanced race in this galaxy, but so few of us seem to have even passing knowledge of the basics... like we left all that skill behind. It bothers me."

The mauvian's cheeks puffed as she filled her mouth with air and let it out in a huff, her tail twitching against the table top. There wasn't much that could be done about that problem, if the others held no interest in learning. Putting together the communicators had been a challenge, making it abundantly clear how lacking her fellows were.

After a moment, Ash shook herself all over, fur puffing out until she settled again.

"Anyway. Speaking of technology, I should get to the reason why I came here!" The silver cat grinned as she cast her companion a sly look. "See, I found an interesting bit of technology humans have produced and I very much want to see it in action for study purposes. It utilizes direct brain control and if that could be expanded into other areas, think of the possibilities as we directly link to the mind and by pass a clunky physical interface!"

Excitement lit up Ash's face and she sprung to her paws, pacing the table before she turned abruptly and spun in place with a little flourish. Something popped out of subspace to clatter to the tabletop and the silver cat beamed as she stood over it, looking far to pleased with herself. What she had pulled was a set of white fuzzy cat ears on a plastic headband. One piece arched forward while a clip dangled from the side.

"These are called Nekomimi! Clever isn't it? The sensors read brain activity and use them to signal the motors in the ear pieces. I can't of course try them myself, for obvious reasons." She said as she grinned. "So I need you to try them for me."

'Left behind' seemed to be a theme for so much that should have been useful and pertinent to the War, the history of the Silver Milennium, or the senshi themselves if their was really going to be a point to being reincarnated. Why it was left behind, whether it was supposed to be, or to be reclaimed, and how, were just as dark as the information itself. The ears were a welcome diversion from the depressing subject.

Quenton lifted the offered device, recalling the reports on wired and cnet from a few years prior, but never having been near any store that carried them. Or having ever looked to purchase them online. "I have seen articles on these...I admit, I was skeptical that they'd even consistenly move the ears in a controllable or - well I suppose consistent fashion. When was that...2012? Cabin in the Woods and An Unexpected Journey were being released. "

There was a brief moment of turning the thing over in his hands, wondering it the Mauvian had already loaded in the prerequisite AA batteries. Then he set to putting the band appropriately on his head, strap behind, ear sensor properly placed on the left and forehead piece not blocked on any of his bangs. "You might have better luck working with Google Glass, and some of the regional eye tracker accuracy user interfaces that have been being developed. Though neither is specific to Brain Waves. "

At least the on button was also on the left. "Have you modified in sensors to read what you need....or...what information and how long do you need sampling from any specific user?"

The Burmilla watched her friend put on the robotic ears with rapt attention, her own perked attentively forward. He seemed familiar with the device, because it took no prompting from her for him to put it on properly and flip the power switch. Her eyes widened as the ears began to wiggle back and forth, the signal that it was calibrating to his brainwave pattern. She even wiggled a little herself, the way cats do, moving her hindlegs a little up and down in her excitement.

At least, until he started talking about more serious devices, sensors and actual scientific measurements. Ash dropped her head to angle a look up at him, widening her eyes in a bid for maximum cuteness factor.

"Would you be terribly angry with me if I said I was really only 10% interested in the technology? I mean, I already took the thing completely apart and put it back together, I know exactly how it works which I did want to learn, and I could probably build one myself with little effort." She said. She paused abruptly to groom her chest with long sweeps of her tongue before she looked up again, a feline smile lighting up her small, round face as her ears splayed back. "Truthfully, It was 90% interest in seeing you wear them... I thought it would be cute and that you might like them. You like cat things... I thought it might be a fun thing to share with you."

Everything was so dreadfully serious lately... the whole prior conversation had been dreadfully serious. Why did life need to be so hard all the time? Fighting wars and losing people you loved... Sometimes you just wanted to see someone in a cute pair of cat ears.

Quenton paused, following her head turn with one of his own, though with less purpose than puzzlement. "Because....it....would be...."
"cute?" The final word was said like it was an alien language, alien enough in regards to himself in so far every year of his life. I do like cat things. I do like them. A cat- no...Mauvian. They're not really cats. But cares that I like cat things?

It also pointed that the most was having him on, and like a bona fide twit worthy of Bottom, Ash playing well as Puck. He looked vaguely at the ceiling while considering it, "I hope there's no Titania in this play. "

Then finally returning to the matter at hand, "Well played. And thank you...I do like them. How did you come by them? "

Ash brightened up immediately, her little ears rising as she sat up straighter. She had done well, bringing these to him. It was a nice little bright spot, seeing him wear them and knowing he liked them.

"Oh, Darling, please... Its not the ears' fault if you attract lots of admirers." She teased gently. "As for how I got them, well... I found a site selling them on the internet and bought it! They delivered it to the address of an apartment in a building by the tower and I just snatched it up before the real tenant realized it was there. Sadly, without my own residence, that's one of the work-arounds I've had to figure out for things I get delivered to me. It seems to work well enough, as long as I keep a sharp eye on the drop point."

"Oh, here! I have these too..." Ash spun and a bit of paper fluttered to the table. She pounced on it almost before it came to rest and then pushed it across the table towards the blonde. Metalic surface was die cut into the shapes of stars and the guardian beamed. "One of these and you'll be just like a Mauvian yourself! You just need a tail... unless you're like ********* laughed softly before she settled back with a wistful sort of look at the sparkly stickers. "I wish it weren't so dangerous to take my human form... There are so many things I'd like to do and can't. Conscripting another cat to cover my aura is a temporary fix, at best, and then you have to deal with their whining..." She huffed, the end of her tail twitching.
