As you reach the top, obtain the egg, and you are ready to begin your descent. - Every single creature possible, especially rolling sand lobsters, will try to destroy your egg. Roll 1d4 four times and match your dice roll to the prompt below to reach the bottom of the mountain. Yes, repeats do happen if you roll a repeat. Your egg has 10 HP. If you make it down without the egg reaching 0 HP (breaking) you made it! 1) A sand lobster rolls right into your egg and nearly breaks it! -2 HP 2) Strange velociraptor minipets are hungrily staring at your egg. They try to attack it! -1 HP 3) A giant snake smacks you with its giant tail. Ouch! -3 HP 4) Nothing happens. You were lucky! gaia_star If you successfully get an egg to safety, you get herbivore egg. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Here we go! Now Piper could have complained about the nature of this particular quest--well, let's be honest, this particular diva of a ghoul could have complained about anything with the right motivation, even on a good day--but this time she kept her lips shut beyond a few questions as to what to watch out for. Piper had already encountered dragons and invisible creatures and a nasty basilisk and a useless stinky sandwhale. Scaling a mountain didn't seem all that bad as far as everything else was concerned, especially when it was just about going for an egg or two.
But Jack help her, if she encountered any chickens along the way, they were going to die. So. Help. Her.
(She thought of one of those birds actually getting infected and growing all big and nasty and eech why was she psyching herself out before even starting again? Birds were supposed to be her thing, okay? Well owls specifically, but whatever. Birb.)
Getting up the mountain was about as tough as she figured it would be; the exercise was actually welcomed to be honest, despite her typically whiny attitude. A challenge was almost always up for someone as sporty as her, especially when her previous school paled in comparison to the prestige that was Amityville Academy. Yes, Piper scoffed to herself as she dodged a nest of unruly (and abnormally large) minipets by the skin of her teeth, Amity was just teeming with greatness. Well...She did have some good people there, so that had to count for something. And it definitely didn't stay boring or peaceful for long, which was fine with the reaper; both words were synonymous with each other as far as she was concerned. And now that she was really back, she hoped she could prove herself up to the task of her newly donned hobhood.
But first, she needed to stop nearly falling off the cliff.
After more than a few close calls with the bizarre creatures of the mountain (no wonder the villagers were like they were, hiding behind cloaks and vague looks and probably stolen clothes too), Piper eventually made it to the top. Luckily there were a few different eggs to grab and no mummy to worry about. She let herself catch her breath before snatching one, whispering yeaaaaah to herself for further encouragement, and turning to begin her descent.

And what a descent it was indeed. If Piper thought the climb was rocky, going back down wasn't just twice as perilous, it was at least a jackin' one hundred times harder. It was as if carrying the egg had infused her with a pheromone she couldn't pick up, one that said here little monsters please come eat my gibblets and mess up my hair and take my precious egg away while you're at it.
She hadn't thought much of the little raptor minies that tailed her, and that had been her first mistake. A small mistake, but one nevertheless. They reminded her a little too much of...Crud, what was Brenley's pet's name again? The dromio whatsit? She just kept picturing Ugly Duckling Syndrome Forever for its name instead as she fled to keep her spirits up.
And right into the twin snakes. Jumpin' Jack, what the hell?? The things were huge, and while size didn't intimidate Piper, large fangs certainly did. It was awkward trying to fend them off with her heavy jug in one hand and the egg in the other, and she could see cracks start to mar its shell with a little panic. No Sally no no no please Jack ahhhh! She didn't want to do this multiple times, stupid Jackdamn things...
Piper didn't even see the rolling sand lobster. At that point, she didn't even question it. Sure. A sand whale existed, why not these things too? One rolled right into her legs and nearly sent the ghoul tumbling head over heels, and the egg for one heart-stopping second seemed ready to crack. But as she slid to the bottom of the mountain, no longer harassed by its overly aggressive wildlife, she took another look at her prize and heaved a sigh of relief. Damaged, yes, but still in tact.
