 Placeholder Banner   It only took one story filled with knights and the grand adventures they partook in for Griffinus to fall in love with the idea of being a hero.
Courage and valor, bravery in the face of terrible monsters, adventure.
Mostly it was the idea of adventure that fueled his ideas for play. As they were small, they weren't allowed to go too far from home, yet. One day he'd roam the land and have epic battles with sworn enemies and rescue dozens of damsels in distress, maybe even hundreds.
For now he could practice and he did as often. Since there were no real villains around he pretended, roping what siblings and cousins he could into the game, until they grew tired of it and wanted to play other things.
Today was a day like any other, and Griffin was searching for Bo, she usually liked to play with him and sometimes he'd even let her be the hero, mostly because she would get tired of always being the one getting rescued and it only seemed fair.Meanwhile, Dinah had come down from the mountain shrine that was her home. She enjoyed meeting new ulaya as often as she could. Talking with them and sharing experiences helped her expand the limited view view of the world from her childhood.
Swooping high over the island's forests, she searched for a place to touch down a good distance from the trees.Note: Set when Bo and Griffin are kits. Dinah is a young adult.

 Bohemian, or Bo as her family affectionately called her was sunning herself after Mama Ly had given her a bath, her ears twitched at the up coming sound of her brother Griffin, she closed her eyes and tried to still the smile that was starting to form.
If Griffin was out and about, surely that meant a game would be a foot, and she did so enjoy their games, specially when she got to be the hero. She practiced the art of battle as often as she could, Mama Ly had no problem teaching her and even said she was a quick learner! Bo puffed up at the thought, though she knew that she would need more training some day, she couldnt wait though.
But for now, she was content to play with her brother, and cousins when a big game was in motion.

Griffin ran hard searching the meadow for signs of his fair sister, spotting her he crouched and began to sneak forward. He didn't like to admit it, but a lot of his siblings, cousins too, were better at hunting than he was. Probably it was because he spent so much time daydreaming about being a hero, not that he realized that. So his method might not be the best but he remembered to keep his tail down this time, as well as his belly low to the ground.Below, a clearing beside a nice sparkling river seemed like as good a place to land as any. Dinah had seen a few fuzzy ulaya about and the idea of meeting them lent an excited flair to her flying. She was really good at flying, the breezes that shot up the side of her mountain home saw to that, the part she wasn't so great at was landing. So she swooped and circled a few more times, coming lower and lower on each pass.

The shadow of something over head caused Bo to open her eyes, the kit looked skyward and her eyes widened to the point she wasnt sure why they were still in her head!
Dragon! Could it really be a dragon!? Was it going to eat them? Bo's eyes shifted to her brother quickly. "Griff! Look!" She called out pointing to the dragon that grew closer and closer to the ground.
She raced towards her brother, her tail waving behind her excitedly as she forgot all the real dangers of such a predator.

Griffin took a moment to pout in dismay before even glancing skyward. He'd been spotted so easy?
His pout dropped clean off his face once he saw the huge shape. Bo had reached his side before he could react and at the same time the beast had swooped low, wings spread wide, its feet aiming towards them. "Get behind me, sister!" Griff shouted, trying his best to be brave, his fur standing all on end, his tail a bottle brush from fright.Having no intention of scaring the kittens, instead Dinah was just trying to land in front of them, but she hadn't angled low enough, now she was going to come down on top of them if she couldn't correct in time. Flapping hard once, she sailed over them the wind from her wings bowling the tiny pair over. "Oh no!"
Forget trying to land right, now she just needed to get on the ground and see if they were alright. Paws skidding through the grass, she managed not to tumble, turning on her heels when she stopped and bounding back to the kits.

Just steps away from skirting behind her brother, the burst of air flipped the little kit, head over tail, her hair breaking free from its loose hold and falling everywhere as she landed with a solid thud on her back.
"What just happened?!" Bo said in a huff, trying to blow her hair out of her face as she tried to look around through the thick locks. "Griffin!" She called out, "Are you alright? Was that a dragon attack!?" she was even more curious now, what sort of attacks did dragons have and could she learn them?!

Luckily Griff had only tumbled once, he was on his feet again before the dragon even landed, moving to guard Bo, not because she needed it, but because it was the right thing to do. He was terrified. All the stories he'd heard about dragons, they'd be eaten for sure, or roasted alive!
"I'm fine! Run, Bo!" Maybe Bo could get away if he distracted the beast that was now rushing towards them. He lowered his head and bared his teeth, like he'd been taught to do, growling.Dinah made haste, she saw that the kits were already on their feet and slowed, that posture of the little male... "Oh... oh dear..."
She came to a stop a distance from them. "Hi. I know this looks bad, but, well. It's not like that. I'm not here to hurt you." She took a little step forward, not noticing she'd scratched up her paws on landing and there was fresh blood marring her toes.

The little hunters nose twitched at the scent of blood, as if her eyes werent already glued to the dragon coming towards them, who was talking to them..She sought out the wound, like she would if she was eyeing prey.
She noted the injured paw and chalked it up to being safe, silly dragon. With a huff she turned to her brother and shook her head, "Griff, she's injured! We cant just let her walk around with an owie.." she stuck her tongue out at him before slipping around him to boldly walk towards the dragon.

Firstly, Griffin was surprised that a dragon could talk. Would even bother trying at all, and secondly what she was saying. Why wasn't she leaping on them or breathing fire, all teeth and claws?
Not that he really wanted her to breath fire at them, maybe a little bit... it would be pretty exciting. He straightened up from his crouch and tilted his head to one side, blinking as Bo skirted around him and moved forward.
"Whoa, wait, Bo! Bo hang on..." he trailed off, hackles still up but confusion clear on his face. This dragon... she didn't seem like a beast at all. "What if it's a trick!?"
Not that the dragons in the stories ever played tricks, they were always completely straight forward about their mayhem."Injured?" Dinah caught the exchange between the kittens and sat back on her haunches to look herself over. Checking her wings first and then twisting to look at her haunches.
She'd hurt herself a couple times, coming down hard on bad landings, but never anything serious. Finally spotting the scratches on her toes she brought her other paw up to her cheek. "Ohh... You mean this, little one? It's nothing, I've done worse to myself... Ah ha ha, umm that is..."
This was not the sort of impression she wanted to make at all. First frightening them and then irrefutable proof that she was terrible at landing. This was no way for a leader to act.

"Ooooh a trick!" Bo cooed out excited, what kind of predator let itself get injured to lure in prey? That wasnt a bad trick at all! Bo all but exploded with the excitement of it, if mama Ly could see her little kit now, she would very well be pawing her face and shaking her head.
But little kits learned best when they came upon lessons on their own.
She paid little heed to the words that were actually said by the dragon, a seed had been planted in her head and was growing wildly.

"Bo-he-mi-an." Griffin tried to make his little kitten voice all stern as Bo kept on and didn't listen. He lept to catch up with her... if it was a trick of some sort, he wouldn't let his sister face it alone. He hung back a bit, still worried. Knowing the more he tried to put himself between the dragon and Bo the more Bo would speed her way into danger.
But dang, dragons were even bigger close up."It's not a trick." Dinah offered, putting her paws out and shaking her head. Realizing a second later she was all but waving a scratched up paw in their faces she dropped them to the ground and hunched her wings a bit. Not liking the fearful look in the little male's eyes. The little female on the other hand seemed entirely fearless...

At the sound of her complete name, she skittered to a halt, her nose wrinkled as her ears flopped. She turned her face towards her brother, "But Griff-Griff.." she said sadly, she knew her brother meant well, but did he have to use her whole name like that?
She snuck a glance or 12 back at the dragon before looking back at her brother. "I wont get to close promise.." She eyed the dragon again, holy tree tops it was big, but somehow she didnt think it was a full grown up yet.

Griffin nearly toppled over Bo when she stopped suddenly. He put a paw to his chest and smiled gallantly, even if she was trying hard not to pay him any attention. "Let me at least address the beast first, and then I shall introduce you." He said loud enough for Dinah to easily hear before dropping his voice, "but don't let on that you're a maiden, just in case."When the pair stopped, Dinah cocked her head to one side to listen. Blinking in confusion. It was pretty clear that the little boy was entirely wrong about Draco'ula... but well, that was what her parents had warned her about and why she made these trips down into the low lands.
It didn't stop the hurt at being called a 'beast', still he was just a child. She crouched down and flattened her wings against her back, making herself look smaller, though the dear kits were really tiny...

She tried whole heartedly to hide the eye roll at her brother but she nodded, she had to give him something right? Or else he might not let her play hero anymore if she went all crazy in a real dangerous situation.
"Alright alright.." She eyed the young Draco and noticed the quick flicker of confusion and hurt before she looked back to her brother and whispered "Maybe calling a dragon a beast isnt a good idea? They might not like that...Your going to get us eaten." Bo said trying not to let her muzzle twitch with a smile at the thought.

"Calling a beast a beast is proper," Griffin said, but kept his voice low just in case Bo was right. He turned to advance, seeing the dragon crouched all low to the ground like that didn't cause him pause, he only assumed that, well, maybe this was some sort of tamed dragon, who knew a brave knight when one was before it.
Strutting forward stiffly, Griffin paused a half dozen pace from the dragon, who he thought was terribly frightening, but he wouldn't dare so out loud.
"Hello Dragon, I am the brave knight, Griffinus and this is my sister, the lady Bohemian," he first put a paw to his chest and then gestured to Bo with a flourish. "What, pray tell, are you-- that is, what is your business, in our realm?"
Reasoning with dragons rarely worked in the stories he'd heard, but a knight was sworn to uphold the right and, well it was only right to try talking things out before attacking.Dinah really had no idea what to make of this kits behavior, then it dawned on her, they were playing a game. At least she hoped that what it was.
"Oh dear brave knight," she bowed her head and then lowered herself entirely to the ground, relaxing just a bit from her uncomfortable crouch. "I am no threat, indeed. I am no dragon to be feared." Dinah smiled then, brightly and dropped the fancy speech.
"I'm actually a draco'ula, we're not beasts at all, we're people just like you and your family. My name is Dinah, and as for my business." A pause as she thought. "Well, I'd like to play along with your game if you've room for one more, but... I think being the villain would only enforce the negative stereotype you've been going on, and that just won't do."
