gaia_star [ Quest 1: ] Interview two villagers. ** QUEST UNLOCKED **

Your character(s) must interview two villagers. Villagers are all cloaked for some reason. Villagers may get disinterested when you ask too many questions, your goal is to acquire as much IC information as possible. Maybe they hold the key in your leaving.

Roll 1d10 and match your dice roll to the result below. That is the response they give you to your question. Your character can ask any question they formulate with the response always being the result below. If you roll the same number, you get the same response.

1. The villager glowers at you but does not reply to your question
2. The villager seems busy chopping firewood and is fastidiously ignoring you
3. The villager turns to look at you. They wave... at someone past you.
4. The villager is fishing. They reel in an invisible fish.. or is it just nothing.
5. The villager responds with a hearty grunt.
6. The villager looks you straight in the eye. "No."
7. The villager seems glum beyond their cloak. They mutter a few words involving the terms 'despair' and 'death'.
8. The villager is too busy looking at their toes.
9. The villager is cooking roast ghost fish, it smells delicious. They take out a skewer, offer you it, and then eat it before you can accept.
10. The villager seems passed out. Maybe you should leave them alone...

Merope was able to see out of his missing eye earlier. It was difficult at first, since he had to close his single good eye and concentrate on staring. In all honesty it made his stomachs feel sick over how jarring it was. At first, he figured his eye was in a dark place. Now he couldn't see out of it at all. He figured it either no longer associated itself with him (likely), or it dissipated.

Either way, he was currently a one-eyed undead sea dragon in the middle of... of... Wherever this was. He crossed his arms as he stared at the village. He quite liked the amount of fog surrounding it. Weren't places near the ocean also foggy? It had been awhile since he was last there, but he was pretty sure that was the case. It didn't matter that the fog here was dark and wasn't damp. It was just... there. Kind of like smoke.

Merope grimaced. The more he thought about the fog being like smoke, the more uncomfortable it made him. His sense of smell was next to non-existent. If there ever was a fire, he wouldn't notice it. Merope needed to rely on other people's panic before he could panic too.

The undead boil made his way into the village, peering at the villagers. "Um," he began as he approached one, "Excuse me. Have you seen my eye?"

Merope brushed his hair back and pointed at his empty eye socket. "It's dark green with a glowing green iris. Shouldn't be hard to miss on the account of it glowing."

No response. Merope looked uncertain, glancing around before moving to sit next to the villager. It wasn't unusual for him to gravitate towards the nearest source of water. Was it a lake? Stream? River? The undead let his feet dangle off the edge of what he assumed was the pier. The fog made it too hard to see anything, and there was too much noise in the village to listen for water.

Merope was content to watch the fisherman in silence.

An undead leviathan of some sort, he is notable for his dark turquoise scales and glowing blue markings. He has two large fins on his back as well as two smaller fins at the base of his tail, and two even smaller fins then that on his arms between his wrists and elbows. He is currently shirtless, but at least has the decency to wear black shorts.

Time to move on.

Merope stood up and offered a wave towards the villager. He turned his steps and wandered around the village further in, hands in his pockets.

"Excuse me?" He stood in the path of a cloaked villager, hands out of his pockets. "Hey. Have you seen my eye?" He pointed towards the empty socket. "It's dark green, glowing. Or rotting at this point, you know how stray eyes can be. Have you seen it?"

The villager stared at him before side-stepping around him and continuing. Merope slumped his shoulders. "So much for that."

Maybe his plan of approaching could use work. He stopped to lean against a building, arms crossed. He could see other students from here, doing what he was doing. Some seemed to have marginal success. Him? Merope gave a useless sigh before pushing away from the wall. He could do better than this. Right? Right.

But first! Merope stopped as he spied a familiar shape on a spit. Fish! There was fish here! The guy earlier that he watched -- that thing he pulled in was a fish! Merope just couldn't see it. But now! Merope was certain that the person he was staring at wasn't the same cloaked figure. It didn't stop him from looking on in envy as they cooked a fish.

The villager held the grilled fish out towards him. Merope leaned forward, staring. It was a fish. As he reached out to take it, the villager pulled the fish back towards them and took a bite out of it.

Merope stared. He realized his jaw was hanging open before he closed it. Merope sighed, shook his head, and wandered away. "So much for that."
