[Q13] Apex Pet Wrangling (Falair)

There's word here of some oversized minipets that need your help wrangling them to the stables. It's up to you to try your best! If you get a few back in, you might even be rewarded for your time!

Step 1: Go out and find the pet. Out in the wide open fog, where there is only fog and then fog, there are sometimes the shapes of minipets. Roll 1d6 to see what you have to wrangle. All apex pets are 6 feet in height.

1. A basilisk - 1d6
2. A goat - 1d8
3. A wolf - 1d10
4. A spider -1d6
5. A tiger - 1d8
6. Turtle - 1d4

The pet must be carried 30 feet. You must INDIVIDUALLY ROLL seperate dice rolls as you goad the pet by dragging it along its reins. The dice you roll for it is the distance it travels. For example, if you roll a goat, you get to roll separate dice rolls of 1d8 until you cumulatively get 30 feet.

If you roll a 1 at any point the pet will run away! The only way to get it back is if you have the basilisk eye item, that will lock it into place.

If you and your team successfully defeat it, you get paid a old saddle. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

Over sized beasties got you down? Falair's got your back.

When she heard whispers about the minipets running amok Falair jumped into action. This would give her a good insight into her skills of critter wrangling. If she were successful she would know that her, not so sisterly influenced, job changing was her true calling.

As she approached the stables, the mare looked about at all the large minis that were already there. It was time to add her own.

She set off into the wilderness. Searching high and low for well...whatever it was she needed to be searching high and low for. Perhaps she needed some kind of bait? Reaching into her apron, she pulled out a small box. Contained within were some savory smelling roots. Their smell could almost be described as rotting meat. As she slid open the top of the box, she waved it around. Trying to get a good scent in the air.

It didn't take long. Out of the shrubs came a basilisk. It's long tongue flicking in the air as it scented. "That's right. Get a good smell. Come on." Falair waved the box in front of the basilisk, wary to get seriously close. Basilisks were poisonous not to mention quite dangerous. But she could handle it.

After gaining it's direct attention, Falair began to walk backwards the way she had come from the stables. The Basilisk slowly following her. It seemed wary but curious.

She really wished this task wouldn't take so long. Basilisks could be quick but this one, Falair thought, was taking it's dear sweet time.

Maybe the smell wasn't strong enough?

Taking out a small flint, she set the roots in the small box on fire before snuffing out the flame and letting smoke trail behind her. Eyes locked on the creature following her. She had to be careful not to antagonize it lest she want to be run down and ripped to pieces.

Still slow slow slow. Falair was getting quite impatient really. Finally she slipped the box closed and returned it to her apron. She would have to do something a bit more drastic unless she wanted to be out here all day luring this critter back to the stables.

She moved in closer to the basilisk. It stopped dead in it's tracks, staring at her with golden eyes. Beautiful eyes, Falair was in awe.

Slowly she reached out and snatched the reigns that the basilisk was wearing. She hadn't wanted to get this close until she could eek out the creature's disposition. But time was of the essence and she did not have much of it to waste doing this.

The basilisk tossed it's head. Hissing and spitting before it finally settled. Falair rubbed it's snout lightly. "Shhhhhhhh, its ok. We'll get you home soon don't you worry."

Apparently the basilisk was not quite reassured by her words as it tugged back on the reigns Falair had a tight grip on. Almost like it didn't want to go back.

But then all of a sudden the basilisk broke out into a light run. Taking Falair completly by surprise. "Whhhoooaaaa!" The Horsewoman tried her best to keep up.

Even with a hard tug the basilisk didn't want to slow down it seemed. At first it had been reluctant to go, now it was moving at a full out run. Falair was pretty decent at running, but trying to keep up with such a long animal that had four legs, two more than she, was a bit tiring.

She had half a mind of just jumping on it's back and riding along. Maybe it would run itself back to the stables for her.

All of a sudden the basilisk came to a rough stop. Falair found herself almost running past it. With such a tight grip on it's reigns, the mare fell to the ground in front of the beast.

As she pulled herself up, Falair glared lightly at the basilisk. While it's face was expressionless she got the small notion that it was laughing at her inside that scaly head.

Once they started moving again she could see the stables growing closer. In fact, before she knew it they were pretty much on top of the building. The basilisk tossed it's head. Reigns jingling with the motion.

Almost there, almost there.

The last leg of the journey seemed fairly easy. Falair lead the basilisk to one of the open stalls. It seemed a bit reluctant to enter until the mare gave it a good smack on the butt.Sending it scurrying into the darkness of the stall to hide in a corner. A loud hiss coming from the stall.

She quickly closed the door. Locking it and dusting her hands. Job well done. Another beastie back at the stable. Though she was kind of sad that she could not keep it. It would have made a good mount to take back to the tower to show off to her fellow Famine clansman.

Oh well. Someday maybe.

For now she would just have to make due. Its not like her own personal mount wasn't great. She loved her mount. It was part of her. But a basilisk could slither across sand dunes with much more ease than her little filly.

She gave the stables one last longing glance before making her way back into the main section of the village. If she were to ever return here Falair made a note that she would look into these stables. They might have some good ides on taming these larger creature that she could put to good use. Perhaps even some breeding ideas.

It was a good thing to note.
