The local dragonseer (that's a fancy word for someone who rides on a balloon and stares at the fog from above) wants your help in locating potential signs of danger and sand whales. You are to ride the balloon up and take a look.
You must first assemble the balloon. Pick any two items from the list below to make the basket of your balloon out of. Rp accordingly:
- Snake leather
- Thick rope
- Flaming carpet
- A basket of foxfires
- A white cloth
- Carved sand whale bone
- A net
- A table
- A door
- Five golden rings
- A pine tree
- A trash can
- A really really really really big bottle
- Next, to ascend, roll 1d100. This is the number of feet that your balloon launches to the sky. If you roll a 1.. you kind of suck. Maybe you're really bad with balloons. Maybe youre too heavy. Maybe your buddy should get off. Who knows.
If your character is lucky and manages to roll above 50 feet, they will get to see the town below them. You notice that the town is shaped like an S. You can also see clearly the town below you.
If your character rolls above 80 feet, you end up going too high into the highest miasma clouds. The thin air makes exposure to miasma easily and you gain +5 miasma.
As long as you roll over 50 feet you succeed in this venture.

Shun gave the dragonseer a bit of a stare as he was told to make his own damn balloon. This can't end well. With a sigh, he went on and grabbed some rope and leather to start putting a basket together. This thing didn't seem all too sturdy, once he had finished. The whale bone had been tempting, but he had a feeling that would be too heavy to be able to do any good for them.
The Reaper cast a glance towards Lock, then went on to set his balloon off.
As he suspected, it didn't get him too far. With a light frown, he went back to the materials to see what he could do to adjust this contraption.

Seeing as Lock had just watched Shun completely faceplant (and snapped a picture for his phone), Lock wasn't too keen to try with leather and rope.
Additionally, Lock had lived underground for a very large portion of his life. While he was adjusted to living above ground now ...
Flying in the sky was not something he wanted to do.
But sighing, he made his balloon out of the whale bone and the white cloth; light enough to get in the air, but sturdy enough if it was going to crash like Shun's. He got a decent height off the ground, and although he was clinging to the bone for dear life, he got a good look of the S-shaped town.

Shun went ahead and added some whale bone to give his balloon extra support. He finished patching his thing up, then set off in a second attempt. This time around, he soared well over the village. He stared down below, taking notice of the town snaking in a serpentine manner. It looked like it was in the shape of a 2. Wait. No. Z. S.
Something.
