You must have a fishing rod base made of whale fin first to start. Anyone without a whale fin cannot actually fish, though they can cheer the others on.

Next, select a bait. Your goal is to catch as many fish as possible, as fish oil is valuable in village things, says the villager. He hands you a tin, and you randomly get a bait. Roll 1d6 to see what you get

1. You get nothing..
2. You get the ear of a minipet
3. You get a ball of tiny spiders.
4. You get a giant spider. Seriously, this thing is huge. Like six feet huge. How did it even fit in there?
5. You get a decent sized worm.
6. You get the tail of a minipet

Now, with the bait, roll 1d100 to see how well you do. Make sure to rp accordingly with using the bait/tackling it/ figuring how to make it work. As long as you fish 11 or higher, your quest is a success. Otherwise, try again!

1-10: You fish up nothing..
11- 30: You fish up an invisible sardine. Or wait, is it a real one? You can't tell.
31- 50: You fish up a decent sized bonefish. It is made of literal bones, how are they going to eat this?
51 - 80. You fish up a giant spider fish. It looks more spider than fish, and is about six feet tall.
81 - 100: You fish up a beautiful premium gourmet finfish. It's tail fetches a good price in the local village market and you are rewarded handsomely.

6. You get the tail of a minipet

After scaring off the large 400-foot Sand Whale from thrashing in the harbor, one of the villagers had noted that the demon hound was in possession of one of the whale's fin. Brenna was squeamish as Uru had picked up the appendage, but it was a trophy. He figured it could fetch a price if he sold it to someone in the village. To his surprise, one villager had offered to make him a rod out of it. And that was what he was being offered; a rod made of whale fin. It looked odd, but it held the shape of a rod. The villager asked if he could fish some fish up for the use of fish oil, a valuable item here at the village. Brenna was all for it, but was told that she could not participate without the whale fin rod.

Apparently that was an odd requirement.

The villager offered Uru a can without a word but a small smile. Unsure, Uru reached inside and pulled free a minipet tail. Which minipet? He couldn't tell you. It was long, it was scaley, but that could be just about any minipet without the rest of the critter to identify it. The old villager smiled and pushed him off to fish by the harbor.

The siblings sat on the dock with the rod in one hand, nestled between his legs for leverage, and the other hand with the bait - a minipet tail. He had never gone fishing before, but he understood how it worked. Brenna had explained the mechanics based off of deductive reasoning; "pull this, pulls the string, pulls the hook, pulls the fish." It made sense, he wasn't going to argue with it unless it hadn't worked. After the old village shooed him off, he threw a menacing glare at the local before taking his sister to the docks. Apparently, his mean looks don't work on anyone around here. Definitely not Brenna.

"Wrap it around the line." Brenna offered.

"It would just slip off and the fish will get away. What if I..." Uru took the hook and threaded the tail through it, around and around until it was partially up the line and on the hook, the bit of tail hanging off wiggled when he moved. The illusion was there... maybe it will work. "Alright, lets give this a shot." He stood up, putting an arm out toward his sister to get her a safe distance as he threw the rod back and jerked it forward. The line gave a loud whir as the reel spun insanely as the hook sailed through the air. The anticlimactic 'bloop' the bob gave made them both eye it.

The siblings sat after moments have gone by with very little tension on the line. Until the reel exploded with motion, the rod bending forward, the demon hounds jumped to their feet with rod in hand, yanking back and giving slack. Brenna cheered him on as Uru gritted his teeth as he reeled the fish in. He pulled and jerked it left and right, imagining himself punching it over and over until he pulled up hard. On the deck laid a beautiful fish. Uru looked on with a mixture of excitement and wonder as Brenna jumped and cheered behind him.

Their first fishing 'trip'.
