Dated: September 10th
It'd been a long day, but not a bad one - mostly; he'd gotten up early to make Tolliver some breakfast, and then he'd gone to work. (At least, in the afternoon he did - in the morning he floundered around job hunting and again, got turned down again and again.) The evening at least had been dry and dull and boring as hell, but he'd gotten through it by ducking into the freezer and shooting his lover quick texts and stupid little pictures when he could. Like, insanely stupid pictures.
When he went home, he went ahead and made Tolliver some dinner - and then other things had happened, like they tended to - and eventually his lover passed the ******** out and begrudgingly, Hitch had snuck out as Eurydike. He didn't really want to leave the mattress with Tolli but - even after everything with Cinnabar and the train, which really should've scared him off, he was sort of trying to make the city a little safer so maybe his lover would never end up in the same shitty situations he had.
So when he sensed the prickle of chaos, cautiously - he'd learned his lesson - he made his way towards it.

Kerberos's efforts towards energy collection were listless and lazy, now - a little borrowed from a bum here, some taken from "accidentally" bumping a late-night shopper there. But he had long ago given up, and was leaning against the bricks of a convenience store, turning his energy haul over in his hands.
There was no warm bed with a lover in it waiting for him at home. He could go to Des, again, but everything about their "relationship" was complicated by the fact that they were both grieving in different ways, and he still felt guilty about throwing himself at Des so soon after losing both Gabriel and Luka.
And the person he might have fought to keep safe was gone, because of him.
He could feel an Order signature approaching, but he couldn't make himself care enough to move and try to get away. So he waited, illuminated by the eerie glow of human energy between his hands.

Eurydike didn't know what he'd been expecting exactly when he chased chaos tail tonight. Results may vary, after all. Sometimes he got youma, sometimes he got officers... sometimes he got Cinnabars... he really hoped this wasn't a Cinnabar.
But of all those things, he never thought he'd come across that man, the freak with the blue hair who'd toyed with him in the park that night. He stood there for a minute, slack-jawed, watching him illuminated by the light of his orb of human energy.
Human energy like his. That's what his energy had looked like. That's what Tolliver's would look like if he was unlucky enough to stumble across this freak one night.
Lips pursed, jaw tightened, hands curling into fists, Eurydike glared at him.
Not if he stopped him first.
He didn't even give any kind of warning - he just dashed over and aimed what he thought to be a well-deserved punch to the corrupt's face, even if this a*****e wouldn't know him from a hole in the wall, even if he hadn't been powered. Probably did s**t like that every ******** night!

Had Kerberos cared, he could have defended himself a thousand ways. Fought back, teleported away, any number of things, because he felt - and saw - the Senshi coming for him.
He didn't. Instead he tucked his energy haul into subspace, so it was safe at least - because he refused to risk having to recollect it - and then did absolutely nothing at all to defend himself from the fist to the face except turn, a little, so it hit him sideways instead of dead on.
Given everything he'd done, it wasn't hard for him to assume that this was somehow well-deserved - the Senshi wasn't familiar, but that meant absolutely nothing. Few people attacked that violently without being provoked. It was, therefore, obvious- this was someone he'd hurt somehow, either in the present or as an Ascended General.
He moved afterwards, but not to fight back, to duck out of the way. "Do you greet every stranger in black that way, or am I special?" He asked, and there was a bit of an edge to the question.

It was a ******** pathetic dodge - but he was a ******** pathetic excuse for a senshi, look at him. This ********, stealing people's energy instead of ******** doing a goddamn thing to help - god that thud of knuckles against flesh was so ******** satisfying -
"Special, " he snarled, grabbing Kerberos by the front of what was supposed to be a ******** fuku he guessed now, trying not to feel sick at the sight of the hole in his chest. "You ********' drained me, you ********, " and he swung again, at his stomach now - because it was more than the draining that'd really pissed him off, but he doubted this b***h even ********> remembered. Probably like Rutile, did this s**t every damn night.

Ah, there was the explanation he was looking for - and had he known who was under Eurydike's fuku, he would have been able to say with certainty that he did distinctly remember the man in the park, the only time he had ever kissed someone to drain them. He'd felt guilty, afterwards, not necessarily for the draining but because when he'd gotten home Luka had greeted him with a kiss.
But that wasn't on his mind when the Senshi - wholly unfamiliar in this form - grabbed the front of his fuku and yanked him forward. "Ah," he said, and that was all he had time for because a fist was connecting with his stomach, an he made a strangled, choking noise of pain.
This close, it would be nothing to go for the man's starseed and end this fight quickly - he didn't have to tolerate getting smacked around.
But didn't he sort of owe him? If he was telling the truth - and there was no reason to assume he wasn't - Kerberos had stolen his energy to feed the monstrous machine of the Negaverse. A beating was the least recompense he could offer.xxfrayedflower edit to fix a MASSIVE phone typo lol oops

A sound, and that was it - either this guy was just that pathetic where he couldn't even handle a couple of punches, or -
Eurydike refused to allow himself to entertain the notion that there could be anything else to do. This was the enemy. These people stole energy, terrorized people like Tolliver on a daily basis, had made his ******** life hell before he'd become a senshi himself. No. They got no mercy. They got no empathy. They got no second thoughts.
"You're so ********' weak, " he snarled, shoving the senshi hard with both arms pressed against his shoulders. "Makes me sick to think you ********' got the drop on me."

Kerberos stumbled back a few steps, and then, perhaps deeply incongruously - but if nothing else it would probably make this Senshi think he was batshit, so that might've a point in his favor - he started laughing. Not little giggles, full on (admittedly just slightly hysterical) laughter.
"You're right, you're completely ******** right, I'm so incredibly ******** weak it's hilarious," he said, as he shook his head, taking a few more deliberate steps back. "I wasn't, once, I killed people without a thought - not civilians, Pages, a whole ******** of them, but then I started having doubts, and the Negaverse tried to terrify me into being a good little soldier again and it didn't ******** work and I've been a pathetic sack of s**t for running up on a ******** year now."
He was so weak and pathetic, he couldn't even save the first person who'd ever really, sincerely loved him. Not the only one, because for some mad reason - maybe grief, he could buy that - Des insisted he loved him too, but the first to be willing to really and sincerely admit it. The first person who had actually made Kerberos start to feel like he was worth loving, worth giving a s**t about. And he couldn't even keep him safe. No, instead he's gotten him corrupted.
"But please, come at me, I promise I'm just as much of an easy target as I look. And you want revenge, don't you? For yourself, and for everyone else I've ever drained - and there have been a lot of people. Metallia hungers so, you know."frayedflower like three words run together with some extra letters to form a brand new nonsense word

He was a murderer.
That was the first thing that struck Eurydike, that made his blood boil hotter than ever, that made his knuckles itch for another strike.
Then this assholes just had to keep talking. And talking. And as hard as Eurydike tried to keep the flames of his rage stoked -
He snarled as he lunged forward again, grabbing him the collar with both hands. "You really ARE ********' pathetic, " he spat, dragging him down to eye level. "If you ********' HATE what you've done so ********' much, why ********' do it?! - do somethin' about it you ********' b***h!" He snarled at him. "Cause you don't want to. Cause you're shittin' me right now!"

Being grabbed, being yanked around, all of that was so utterly and easily familiar that resistance was the farthest thought from his mind. At least he was doing a good job at keeping this Senshi pissed - that was, ultimately, what he wanted. To be thrown around and beaten down and maybe he would come out of it feeling like he'd paid a tiny sliver of his massive debt to the universe.
The accusations stung - the same questions he'd been asked over and over and over, usually with more tenderness and encouragement but sometimes with the same stabbing level of condemnation. "Because I'me too ******** pathetic to do that, even," he said, "because displeasing a General because I drank too damn much got me two weeks in a cold dark cell alone to detox, can you imagine what treason would get me?" Because he had done something, he'd saved Hvergelmir and Kairatos, with Titanlåventite's help and encouragement (and that was the only reason he'd had the courage, because Titan did) and it wasn't enough. It would never be enough.
"Just ******** kick the s**t out of me, you obviously want to and I'm not going to fight back." It was a golden opportunity, surely it had to be.

As Kerberos spoke, more and more, Eurydike's eyes narrowed. His eyes were dark, visibly calculating what the corrupt senshi was telling him, and he eased a step or two closer, standing as tall as his height would allow. His teeth were gritted, his shoulders were tight.
"No."
He spat the word like it was foul. Because this man, the one standing in front of him, was nothing but. "You already ********' took advantage of me once you ********' freak. D'ya think I'm ********' stupid or somethin'? - standin' here an' lettin' me kick your a**, it doesn't do jack s**t to make up for the ******** things you did." The senshi reached out and grabbed him by the collar again, tugging him down with a snarl. "Hear me, you freak? I am no one's get outta jail free card."
Eurydike released him again with a look of utter contempt. "Coward - you wanna ********' make s**t right? Grow a pair an' ********' do it yourself."

To say Kerberos was confused was annunderstatent. Why did this Senshi give a s**t about how he fixed thins or made up for them -- surely he was angry enough to want to do Kerberos harm, why did the reasons Kerberos was willing to let him do so matter?
"I'm not looking for a get out of jail free card, and if I was it wouldn't be from you," the Corrupt snarled, "because whatever I did to you? Drop in the ******** bucket." That wasn't an exaggeration. He was pretty sure "got Caledonia corrupted" and "murdered several people" weighed a lot heavier on the moral scale than "drained a dude once." "If I was looking for redemption, I'd try someone I actually hurt, not someone I made take a ******** nap for a couple of hours. I just don't care enough to fight back, that's all. There's not s**t you can do to me anyway."
Was it meant to provoke, to piss off, to incite? Yes it was. And he took it a step further - his casting gesture was awkward, pulled in tight to someone's chest, but he could still brig up his hands, declare "Asphodel's Regret!", and blow a flurry of petals in Eurydike's face.whoops magic Sailor Kerberos cups his hands in front of his face and says the name of his attack, then blows. Asphodel petals fly out of his hands towards one target within eight feet of him. The target begins to feel a deeper, stronger regret, as well as a feeling of clinging hopelessness, though the apparent "reason" will vary from person to person, and may be something they wouldn't normally regret at all. The effect is the same no matter the target's rank. This effect lasts for 30 seconds. Sailor Kerberos can use this twice per battle.

"Bullshit you're not!" the salt senshi snarled back, ready to say more, ready and willing, his mouth half-open and eyes burning with rage and maybe something more when the corrupt unleashed his magic on him.
Like Glitnir's magic back on the train, it was a chain effect - one thing after another and then another. His mother's anger. His relationship with Tolliver. The upcoming anniversary. His happiness with his boyfriend while his mother was gone and knowing what she'd think, what she'd feel, and - What he did to Tolliver. His lack of money. His future with a lover that could only ever be half-formed because he didn't have a future, there was nothing better waiting for him besides Tolliver, and eventually he was going to start just dragging him down with him and Hitch never should have --
For a second, Eurydike crumpled visibly, clutching his head and wailing an awful, gut-wrenching sound that was maybe half a sound of sheer agony, and more, because it fit like a glove, unbridled rage.
This time, there was no punch - instead he flung himself bodily at the corrupt with a howl, and although his eyes were dark with the ache of Kerberos' magic, they were wild, almost frantic. Most of all, dangerous.

The sound of that agonized wail stabbed Kerberos in the chest. His magic was cruel, and he knew it. Hvergelmir could wax philosophic on the necessity of regret, on how people had to face their problems and truly it was a good thing, but faced with watching it tear someone apart, it was obvious that it served no purpose but sheer cruelty.
It had the effect he wanted. Sometimes it paralyzed people, but more often it just pissed them the ******** off, and somehow he had known that was what would happen here. Eurydike was already angry, whatever Kerberos had dredged up was just fuel for the fire.
When the Senshi slammed into him, it took him off his feet, and he crashed hard into the ground, biting back a yelp of pain. That was going to bruise, all up and down his back, probably. It hurt like hell, but that was just ******** fine.

Eurydike loomed over him, snarling as he pressed the corrupt down with a hand pressed hard to Kerberos' chest, intended to keep him in place where he could look him in the eye. His eyes were shining with traces of moisture, to his eternal frustration and shame, but still burning with contempt and anger and so much more.
"You ********, you - "
He gritted his teeth and drew a long breath. His skin had gone pale, making Cinnabar's scars stand out more vividly on his face.
"You didn't just ********' drain me, you - you ********' mocked me - you ********' humiliated me - you make me feel weak, you - " His fingers curled in the fabric of Kerberos' collar again, and he tugged roughly. "You ********' kissed me." The regret was so heavy now. The feelings he'd felt when he'd woken up the next day and choked on what he'd done, what his mother would have ******** said and thought. The ache now, because his first kiss with another man in years hadn't been Tolliver, it'd been this a*****e, for nothing but his benefit. And it made him sick. "You ********' hurt me so much more than you ********' know you piece of s**t, so don't even try an' sit there an' act like it didn't ********' matter!!"
