Warning! There's a very dangerous Apex Minipet out there, and it loves stealing things! Try to wrangle it and you may win it's heart, but it will also steal your items beware!
- You MUST have items in your item inventory that you have obtained. Please be aware by engaging in this quest these items WILL possibly get removed PERMANENTLY. If you lose an item, don't worry, you can do an older quest again to get that item back! If the minipet eats your item, it is PERMANENTLY GONE from your inventory until you get it back ICly via doing the original quest RP to get that item again.
- Remember that items CANNOT BE OBTAINED TWICE. That means you cannot sacrifice a spare of a rusted key for example, you can only carry ONE of each quest item.
- The creature in question hides in the fog. It is very hard to see it! All you see are a pair of eyes looking at you, and the shadow of a shape that is nearly 15 feet tall! Use your regular attack dice to attack the creature. It has 100 HP. The creature does 5 auto damage a hit! No Fear/charged attacks are allowed.
- Every time you roll double dice (ie 1,1) an item will be stolen from you. You can pick which one you wish to sacrifice. You MUST sacrifice an item you own from your list. It cannot be a double of an item you own (ie: you can't have two rusted keys and sacrifice one of them). That item is permanently gone. You must delete it off your item inventory and you no longer own it.
- If you roll a double dice and you have NO items to sacrifice it is an AUTO KO for you (you are defeated in battle).
- If you are one of the first FIVE that manage to defeat this creature AND you have contributed at least 600 words/ 3 battle posts in that thread, you may also post a redeem for this unique creature by dropping it off in this thread as proof!
Rarity: Rare Size: 15 feet long/10 feet tall Weight capacity: 1 person only Special ability: Can temporarily turn invisible, and that includes you riding on it. This will elude you from detection from anyone who is NOT in their final stage of growth. The invisibility only lasts as long as you are mounted on it, unfortunately being invisible does not mean it doesn't make noise/sound/ cannot fit in small doors. Flying: Yes Teleportation: Can teleport to and from Miasma village and Halloween Town only. Temper: Fickle. Likes to eat everything it sees by absorbing it with its long tongue.
When Shun heard there was something called an "Apex" minipet on the prowl in the fog, he felt this would be a good opportunity to see the issue of Miasma island for himself. It might make for a good exercise for Lock, as well. He set out to hunt it down. The Reaper motioned to the younger one wordlessly as he set off into the thick fog. After some time of wandering, he saw a large shadow slithering on through the mists. Narrowing his good eye, he called out his blades and crouched down, ready. Then, it struck.
And so did he.
The one eyed reaper shifted to the side as it lunged, then whirled at the creature's side, slicing into its body with a spin-slash.
After climbing up the side of a damn mountain you would think these two would chill, but no, Lock and Shun had no chill. They would climb fifty damn mountains if it meant they could figure out this miasma business. They were just that dedicated. Yup. That was it.
He stalked behind Shun, debating the validity of such a thing as "apex minipet." The two concepts didn't really seem to mesh. Minipets were tiny frail things. They weren't exactly something Lock would consider scary or "Apex." Maybe miasma was having an influence on them, to make them enormous? Or scarier still, maybe they were enormous to begin with ...
They entered a den of dense fog and Lock trailer after Shun. "Piper can you move the fog at all?" he questioned. She was an elemental mage, it made sense after all. His shadows weren't going to do s**t in a place that he couldn't even see his own shadow.

A giant what now? What was with these minipets?? What the Jackin' heck was this sort of miasma??? The fog was just getting in the way, and she was getting nasty flashbacks to her nightmares every time she saw those eyes flicker out from the shadows.
Cry.
At least she had her trusty jug cannon out for this business. And some handy teammates.
Lock had now joined they fray, along with Piper. Shun gave her a curt nod while he worked on repositioning himself. It was not easy trying to keep the advantage here. The apex creature probably had a clear visual on them while they barely could see it's position. Still, he wasn't going to let that deter him. He had a job to fulfill, and he's prides himself on being able to do things like what this task asked of him.
"Stay sharp. It is not fully revealing itself."
Easier said than done by far. Still, it was a good warning to give out.
The reaper took a few steps back to try and get a better view of the situation at large. He wanted to also ensure that he knew were the others were to avoid any accidents in this skirmish. The last thing he wanted to do was stab one of them instead. That would be both awkward and embarrassing.
He shook his head to himself. No sense in thinking about that right now. He just needed to focus on the fight. Gripping his daggers, he simply waited and watched. The creature would show up again before long. Shun was sure of it. And he would be ready when it did.
Man, this thing was shifty! Making a face, she fired several times into the darkness and glanced at Lock and not-sempai-but-sorta-kind-what is this relationship anyway with Shun it's just weird and kinda acquaintance ish oh well there they were.
She kind of wished Brenley was there to watch her sick moves, though.
Oh well. Audience or not, she was always super cool.
And now Rikki had seemingly come out of nowhere. Shun gave the other reaper a nod of acknowledgement. With all the movement in the fog, it was beginning to become difficult tracking where the creature was coming from when it made its strike. The shadow in the mist lashed out at him, connecting a blow to his arm. With a hiss, he turned and lashed back, though he only felt the tip of his dagger graze against its body. It had moved on again, vanishing further away before he could follow up with a more substantial attack. Narrowing his gaze, he took a step back and crouched down. He could not easily rely on his eye here.
The reaper let out a slow breath and closed his good eye. Now, he began to listen. He tried to pinpoint out where the others were, trying to differentiate what was from one of his allies and what came from the Apex creature.
Her hair sparkled in the...admittedly not so great moonlight, but still. Pumpkin sunlight? Man, this fog was really messing up the ambiance. Piper was a ghoul who liked her show to have a certain sort of flare, you know, a particular pizazz. If only this giant overgrown piece of dung just showed itself! Then they could have an epic showdown!
Granted, they way this thing was going now, it didn't seem particularly tough either. Not that she was wishing for another world worm or anything...or Jack forbid, another contract looking creature...
Lock followed behind Shun with his own daggers of shadow. He had actually picked up the skill from his Mentor, creating small shards of hardened shadows and using them like knives. They didn't stabilize for long and didn't stay together long enough to be used like real weapons, but he found that he could chain them one after another like quick, efficient darts.
He watched Piper closely, and their newly acquired companion. He had tattoos and was also a reaper (being a reaper made him better in Lock's book), and seemed to know Shun. He wasn't sure why the other man had joined them, but he couldn't say he wasn't grateful for the random help.
This monster was huge and kept disappearing into the shadows vaguely. An annoying trait for an enemy, but even more annoying when he hit hard and he hit fast. Lock wasn't sure he would be able to take it on his own, but together ... maybe they stood a chance.

He followed up with another combo, another attack. He had to keep going. Ravenously attack until the monster when down.
Except then the monster had him pinned. It flew and landed on top of him, pinning him to the ground like a butterfly or some other insect. Lock thrashed and thrashed, but strong arms had him pinned down. Teeth were close, so close to his face. He didn't want to die-
Piper slammed him from the side and Lock was grateful. He rolled and escaped from the thrashing and the pinning.
Immediately he pulled up shadows from the ground, pouring them out of his bag like Piper pulled water from her vases. He threw them against the creature, slamming them into the mist and fog, hoping to hit something. Especially if it meant hitting those glowing eyes. They were haunting, the way they stared and stared and stared.
"Shun!" He called as he watched the other reaper (Rikki) go down. "Cover me!"

Or maybe this thing was tougher than she thought...It lashed out faster than the ghoul could react and knocked her back. She fired a literal fireball at it, but when the fog part around it, she couldn't tell if she hit it or not. Damn, this was some sort of apex mini alright...
