Quote:
You must have a fishing rod base made of whale fin first to start. Anyone without a whale fin cannot actually fish, though they can cheer the others on.

Next, select a bait. Your goal is to catch as many fish as possible, as fish oil is valuable in village things, says the villager. He hands you a tin, and you randomly get a bait. Roll 1d6 to see what you get

1. You get nothing..
2. You get the ear of a minipet
3. You get a ball of tiny spiders.
4. You get a giant spider. Seriously, this thing is huge. Like six feet huge. How did it even fit in there?
5. You get a decent sized worm.
6. You get the tail of a minipet

Now, with the bait, roll 1d100 to see how well you do. Make sure to rp accordingly with using the bait/tackling it/ figuring how to make it work. As long as you fish 11 or higher, your quest is a success. Otherwise, try again!

1-10: You fish up nothing..
11- 30: You fish up an invisible sardine. Or wait, is it a real one? You can't tell.
31- 50: You fish up a decent sized bonefish. It is made of literal bones, how are they going to eat this?
51 - 80. You fish up a giant spider fish. It looks more spider than fish, and is about six feet tall.
81 - 100: You fish up a beautiful premium gourmet finfish. It's tail fetches a good price in the local village market and you are rewarded handsomely.

gaia_star If you and your team successfully defeat it, you get paid a rusted key. It is considered a quest item. Add it to your quest item list

So there was a use for this fin!

After having defeated the sand whale, she had seen the whale fin dropped off close to the sandy shore of... Sand. The peryton had brought it back and the villagers had figured a way into fashioning it into a fishing rod.

Aureole had never had the pleasure in fishing but she was filling to figure it out.

With her fishing instrument in hand, she had been guided to the nearby lake. Brume Lake, she thought they called it. It was just as mysterious and suspicious as the rest of the area was. Completely shrouded in fog and the occasional splash of something in the lake would echo out.

A quick shiver ran up Aureole's back at resonated into her wings.

But she was tasked with, yet another, mission. To catch fish! The oil from the fish was something the village seemed to use a lot of. Whatever it was, Aureole wasn't going to pester too far into it. She could ask after catching it.

But now! She needed to prepare herself! And of course it mean't using whatever it was that the villager handed her. A tin can? She doubted any fish would want to eat this... Or at least any fish she knew of... Oh! It opened...

A ball of tiny spiders. That was going to be interesting... Oh! OH!

As soon as she saw the ball of arachnids, she thought of a clever idea. She could pull a few off and tie them one by one! Increasing her chance of getting more than one fish! Yeah! Yeah, that'd work!

...

After several tries in separating the spiders, it was clear that that plan wasn't going to work. The spiders were too well woven and squashed together for her plan to work. Well. It had been a good enough try. Now she would try the boring way of wrapping the string she was using for the fishing pole around the ball a good number of times before giving it a good knot to keep from slipping away into the water.

Now, was she just suppose to plop it into the water or was there some sort of technique to this whole 'fishing' business? Her amber gaze moved to the villager in confusion, holding her rod up. The villager visibly sighed and started acting out a motion, as if he were the one holding the fishing tool. Her bent his body backwards a bit and then snapped it forward, angling his invisible fishing rod forward.

Okay! Aureole could do that!

She stuck her tongue out of the corner of her mouth as she tried to repeat the same action she had just watch the villager perform.

And it worked! Her line was cast out into the fog-covered water, a distant 'plop!' confirmed just how far she had managed to throw her bait out. She blinked a few times, happy with how she had cast it, her little fawn-like tail twitching back and forth with glee. But a quick noise from her villager fishing companion brought her attention back.

The peryton turned her attention onto him and saw he was performing another motion. It seemed to be pulling back the rod and cranking the little spindle on her rod backwards, as if to pull the bait back... What an odd motion but if it was something she was suppose to do...

Aureole, again, repeated the action she had just witnessed. She pulled her bait all the way back before sticking out her bottom lip and furrowing her brows together. Well, why hadn't she caught anything? She turned once more to the villager and he repeated his first action once more.

So this was a repeated move until you caught something? Such a strange way of gathering food or oil...

After several attempts, while in mid-reeling her bait back to her, she was met with resistance on the other end. Finally!

A toothy grin spread across her face as she angled her fishing rod from side to side while reeling in her catch. There was no way she was going to let this fish get away from her! Not after all those castings and waiting for something to bite! Her hooves dug into the earth beneath her as she continued to fight with whatever was on the other side of her line. "No way! You. Are. Going. To. Be. Caught. By. ME!"

With one last tug, she brought the fish back and out of the water, sending her backwards onto her back and snapping her rod in two. A fairly large fish... No, that looked like a much, much large version of what her bait was made of. A spider! Wait... A SPIDER FISH!?

The arachnid sea creature had flown over her head and landed on the ground behind her. The villager clapped and went over to examine the fish before giving her a hearty thumbs up and nod. Aureole blinked a few times at her catch before smiling. "Told you I could do it."

Aureole got to her hooves and dusted off her behind and knees and gave her hair a quick ruffle, just in case. After collecting herself, she noticed the villager having walked up to her and held out a clenched fist. The peryton tilted her head before holding out her own hand. A rusted key was dropped into her hand and the villager was off to take his fish back home.

"Well, it's better than nothing, I suppose."
