IC

After all of the commotion with the extremists and the banishment to Yael, things were not nearly back to normal around Chibale and Jauhar. Ariya had decided to venture out, leaving Chibale for the time being, but it was her luck for it to take a turn for the worst.

She was barely in Jauhar for a day before she was injured. It would have to be looked at... and she would have to explain this to her mother...

Quest Tasks
||. The quest should start with Ariya leaving the islands and entering Jauhar and her reasoning behind leaving for the first time since the meta.
||. Ariya will end up injured by a Alkidike/earthling hybrid while in Jauhar (whether intentionally or accidentally is up to the owner).
||. Ariya will have to go back home to be treated for her injuries, causing her mother to find out.
||. Ariya will have to explain how it happened to her mother, who will not take the news of the hybrid well.
||. The quest should end with Ariya's mother's response to the injury and Ariya having to counter her argument.

Curiosity hurt the Alki

She had made it home, and in one piece. Thankfully she learned that her mother hadn't been present for the fighting, if she had then Niesh would have been sent into exile along with the others. However, the trip into Tendaji had left her with an itch to see more. Days had passed by and she couldn't seem to focus on anything, worse than usual.

Finally she couldn't take it any longer and she just decided that she was going to make the trip across the waters again. This time on her own and without the pretense of war as her motivation. Ariya didn't tell her mother where she was going, or even bother to gather the things she would need for the trip. It was a spur of the moment thing. The young Alkidike took a boat on her own and spent the next few hours rowing on her own. Something she had to learn along the way. Two strokes on the right, two strokes on the left. She had to repeat this pattern to keep her boat straight. "How do they do this so easily?" A valid question in her mind. The other sisters didn't break a sweat when they rowed across the waters. And some of them did so more than once a day. Not to mention with more weight in the vessel.

Knowing this boggled her mind, but even so it wasn't enough to keep her focused for long. The rhythm of rowing soon became a thoughtless action. Her eyes wandering and her mind following. Ariya had several questions cross her mind and she gave them more than a few seconds of thought but soon she was onto something else.

By the time she reached the other shore her arms were burning from the muscle use that was needed to get her there. Still, she stepped out and dragged her boat onto the land just a little to make sure it wouldn't drift away with the current. Ariya turned and stared around at everything. Mostly she was searching the faces that were within view. Was Maya there? Or even Rishima? The young prentice hoped so since she wanted her brother to come back with her to the isles. "I should have brought his necklace with me.." The one for Ger too. She thought.

Either way, she was on the mainlands again. But now that she was there she didn't know what to do. So she stood there for a while, feet still in the water as it rolled up onto the sands. Idly she fiddled with her lip stud then took a deep breath and moved. Ariya needed to figure out what it was that had called her across the waters. As she walked she noticed the trade that some of her sisters had set up. Supplies that traveling Alkidike's would need if they wished to venture into the deeper reaches of Tendaji. This was enough to bring her closer so that she could look over everything. Mostly her eye was caught by the shinier things. Stones, metals, and even shells.

Then she found something even shinier! Weapons. Since Ariya had witnessed the fighting of the races not so long ago she knew it was time she got herself a weapon and trained. Her choice was still firmly planted on the spear as the one for her, but that didn't mean she couldn't take the time to look at what else was there. Smiling at the seller she greeted them then took to gazing over what was presented. Blades of all kinds, the daggers looked particularly wicked, and bows for those who were more suited for long range. "Oh wow, you have a large selection." Ariya complimented the sister on her wares. She was rewarded with laughter and small talk for some time. Weapons were explained to her in the way they were made or even who made them.

So engrossed in the conversation as she was, Ariya failed to see the hybrids that were running through the area. They were being chased by pure blood Alks. When the shouts of her sisters grew louder her attention was grabbed. A second too late she lifted her head to see what the commotion was about and was plowed into by a hybrid. The two went down with Ariya on the bottom. The thud that she hit the ground with was enough to knock the wind from her lungs and turn her vision black. Along with that she heard a weird cracking sound. She didn't know it at the time by the elbow of the hybrid had landed right on her side and caused a fracture in her ribs.

The hybrid had enough time to recover and get to their feet before the Alkidike's chasing him caught up. He didn't linger to make sure that Ariya was alright. She laid there for what felt like hours but was really only a few minutes. When her vision cleared she saw the faces of her sisters hovering above her, staring. "Did you get him?" Was the first thing out of her mouth. Some sisters grinned while others shook their heads. The small crowd around her thinned and she was helped to her feet.

"Argh!" The movement made her cry out and instantly curl in on herself. The loud noise she made startled others and they backed away from her. "It hurts.." Since her hands were on her side there was a murmur that went through before one sister stepped forward and looked her over. "Seems to me like you might have a broken rib. C'mon, we'll take you home and get you looked at."

Ariya let out a groan but did nothing else to resist. She was on her feet after more painful movement but she was able to walk to her boat with little help from others. Getting in was another story though. She had to cry out once more when the motions of climbing in hurt. "Take it easy. You tense up anticipating the pain and it makes it worse." The sister that had told her what might be wrong with her climbed into the boat and took up the oars. A small group of others pushed the small vessel into the waters so that it could set out.

The wrath of worry

The trip cross the waters had calmed her, the rocking of the boat enough to make her rest and partially fall asleep. Ariya was mostly unaware of the passing of time, or even the pain in her side. In fact, she barely knew when the boat slid up onto the sands of the island. It wasn't until the oars made noise as they were laid inside the small water vessel that she opened her eyes to look around. “Lets get you home and see about those ribs.” The large sister commented as she climbed out of the boat. She groaned at the thought of trying to climb out but when she received a look from the older alkidike she quieted up and shifted so that she could get up. Drawing in her bottom lip, stud and all, she braced herself and hopped out. The jarring that she received was enough to make her close her eyes an silently curse. “Haha, you idiot. Jumping makes it worse.” Voice full of mirth the warrior shook her head at the way Ariya had jumped.

“Thanks for telling me that now.” Ariya managed a bit sarcastically. With a few gasping breaths she straightened and half led the way to her house. It didn't hit her that her mother would find out until it was too late. Niesh had been outside hanging some of the laundry out to dry when she and the other Alkidike approached. A smile was on her face until she looked from Ariya to the other sister. “Oh no, what has she done now?” Niesh's hands went to her hips as if she expected it to be something bad.

“She got injured on the opposite shores. Was ran right over by a hybrid running from the sisters.” Answered the sister that had brought her home. She thought it was a good explanation since she couldn't add in too many details.

Ariya cringed visibly. That was enough for Niesh's expressions to go from suspicion to worry to anger to down right hatred. A procession of facial movements seen by both Ariya and the Alkidike that stood next to her. “She what!? You what!? Ariya! What were you doing across the waters!?” Oh the thing she wanted to yell. “No, you know what.. you are grounded. Now inside so we can see what damaged that filthy hybrid did to you.” There was a scoff from the matronly Alkidike as she turned to enter her small hut. “Now, Ariya!” The shrill tone of her mother's voice made the girl wince.

With a pleading glance to the other sister that was with her she moved on inside, with the other bringing up the rear. Inside she was instructed to sit so that she could be inspected by both women. “Explain everything.” A command. Not a request. And so Ariya went into the account of how she was restless and more unfocused than usual. Something that only garnered her a snort from both women. Her being easily distracted was nothing new. Most people on the islands knew that.

She finally got to the point where she got injured and she shrugged her shoulders, something she regretted instantly. "I just didn't notice them quick enough." Ariya hissed out.

The warrior sister that had brought her home sat back and shook her head. "There are no breaks, but since she feels that much pain I am willing to bet there is a fracture. Give it a few weeks to heal." While she wasn't a healer she did know her injuries. With that she stood bid the two farewell and left the hut as quickly as she could. She senses a storm a coming and she didn't want to be in the middle of it.

As soon as the other woman was out of the house Niesh leveled a glare at Ariya. "How could you let a mutt touch you let alone cause you any injury!" The deep seeded hate that she held for all things earthling was showing with all it's colors flared.

"Not all hybrids are bad news! Besides, if I hadn't been in the way it wouldn't have happened." Ariya thought that explaining would making things somewhat easier for her mother to accept, however it only fueled her hate fire. "Not all!? And just which one did you meet? Huh? Was it when you went with that woman, Maya? Did she fill your head with non-sense!? All things dealing with earthlings are beneath us. They killed your mother, Ariya!" And so an old wound was opened up.

Her head turned away and Ariya refused to look at Niesh. "So you remind me every chance you get. But Rishima didn't kill her!" All sound in the hut died at that moment.

Niesh sat back and stared at her adopted daughter in astonishment. "Y-You met him?" She dropped her gaze to her own hands before she stood up and moved away. She busied her hands with getting some herbs to put against Ariya's side and bind with some wraps. "I did. He was the one that got me interested in being a Guardian." The cat was out of the bag now so she might as well tell all. Though Ariya found it odd that her mother had quieted when she mentioned Rishima. Knowing this Niesh smiled wryly and shook her head. "It would have been him.." That man could inspire a skeleton to grow flesh and live again.

Biting down on her hate she sighed and walked back over to Ariya. "You are not allowed to go to the mainlands until you have trained. Do you understand me?" If she couldn't keep her child away from it then she could at least make sure that she was prepared and able to survive. It had been scare enough when Ariya had gone off to the fighting. "Fine. I'll start training right after this heals up then." Niesh nodded her head slightly but said nothing else as she bound her daughter's bruised side.
