A rolling sand lobster minipet Lucille was finally getting some much needed rest after ore mining up on the glaciers surrounding the village. While they were far from hospitable, Lucille was surprised when a villager offered her a warm drink. Perhaps she was finally being accepted…?
But that was not what she wanted, was it?
She needed to get out. To get home to her parents, not stuck in this remote village and slowly assimilated into its community. Was this how it happened for the other village residents then? Lucille certainly hoped not.
Noticing an approaching villager, Lucille set her cup aside and waited. Judging from the stance of the approaching resident, it was apparent that she was going to be sent on another quest yet again.
“More eggs,”
“More eggs?” said Lucille with surprise. “Well I am sure that I don’t…,”
“You need to bring more eggs back,” said the villager. “We are still hungry,”
“Well, what do you want me to do about it? “asked Lucilled sulkily.
“We will bring you to another mountain and you will help up retrieve more eggs,”said the villagers.
“Okay,” said Lucille, whose past experience with the villagers taught her that nothing could change their minds about anything.
-------------------------
“This mountain is even taller than the last one!” wailed Lucille at the sight of the immense mountain that loomed before her.
The villager nodded. “More tasty eggs,”
“You owe me big time,” said Lucille as she hopped off the wagon and watched the group of villagers leave.
Turning to the mountain, Lucille was delighted to notice a small half hidden track leading up the immense cliff.
“Someone’s giving me a break at last,” said Lucille as she scrambled up the steep slope. The hike up, although hard, was at least devoid of creatures trying to launch themselves at her. However, the closer she got to the cliff’s edge, the more that she felt she was being followed.
Turning quickly around, Lucille spotted her spy. It was a sand lobster. Even this high up this irascible creatures were around. “Shoo! Shoo! Go on!” said Lucille as she threw several firebolts at the creature. Despite the weak magic, it was sufficient to scare the skulking lobster away.
“And good riddance,” muttered Lucille as she collected the egg that was in the nest.
