Clara Devlin- 25 years old Clara sat on the park bench, sketchbook in her hands. Right now was the perfect time to get some drawing it. The sun was setting and a lot of people where still out and about, walking around and laughing. Catching them in these moments were the most beautiful. The carefree attitude made the drawings seem to come to life. A smile spread across her face as she looked down at the sketchpad and began to draw. She hummed softly to herself, her hand reaching up to push some hair from her face every couple of minutes. You would think she would remember to keep a hair tie with her, but she didn't. One of these days though she would remember. She snorted and shook her head. Yeah right. She told herself that, but it never actually happened. Oh well it was something she could deal with. After nearly an hour she got up with a sigh. It was probably a good idea to head on home. She had to be up early for work although she was half tempted to call in for the day. It was a hard thing to do, going back to work after an extended vacation. She worked at a law office as a receptionist for one of the best attorneys in town. He was also a very kind man. Her cousin had been getting married over in Ireland and her boss had given her a month off. So no calling in. In the ten years that she had been working for them this was the first vacation she had ever taken.

Jianlei Tsukino Lei sighed, his pale blond hair swaying as he leaned against the wall in the shadows. Dracula had Turned him close to a hundred and fifty years before, though he hadn't seen the elder vampire in a little over a hundred and thirty years. He himself had been born on the far western edge of what was now the 'People's Republic of China', though at the time, it had been far from peaceful or pleasant. His family had been called by a 'friendly' shogun in the area... and when they refused to make blades for the man's growing army, they had been slaughtered. He himself had also been left for dead, until a dark stranger.. Dracula... Vlad, had come to him. "What did you mean by an 'insurance policy'? What were you keeping from me?" he whispered; he had spent the past thirty years in Ireland, and so was easily able to blend in, though his dark gray irises flickered as he noticed a woman rising from a park bench.

Kaosujin Ryu *What are you doing calling me on your honeymoon Natasha? Bored already? * *Yes I am back in New York. I do have work you know* *That sounds wonderful. Just let me know when you want to come* Clara held her sketchbook close as she began to walk through the park. She had taken notice of the pale blonde male near her, and had taken the opportunity drawing him. She would add color in later and add it to her other many drawings. There had just been something about him that screamed mysterious. She was often drawn to the mysterious ones, which did not always end so well. As she neared the man her phone rang from inside her pocket and she pulled it out. Her mouth twitched slightly into a smile. It was her cousin, the one who had just gotten married. She pressed the answer button on her phone and placed it to her ear.
"Cad é atá tú glaoch orm ar do mhí na meala Natasha? Leamh cheana féin?" Clara spoke quickly into the phone as she tucked her notebook under one arm. It had been a week since Natasha's wedding and the honeymoon was being spent in Romania. "Sea Táim ar ais i Nua-Eabhrac. Liom a dhéanamh go bhfuil an obair a fhios agat." Clara listened patiently to her cousin, stopping just feet away from the man. Apparently Natasha and her husband wanted to come and visit soon. "Go fuaimeanna iontach. Just a in iúl dom nuair is mian leat le teacht."
Clara finally hung up the phone with a chuckle. Ten years she hadn't seen Natasha and now she was going to see her quite a bit. This was going to be an interesting time. They would want tours of New York, and she usually worked long hours this time of year.

Jianlei Tsukino He knew his name was odd, though he'd been called 'Sean Lee' in Ireland for how his name sounded. He wore a dark green vest over a black tee shirt and pale cream colored jeans that tucked into casual hiking sandals. He leaned against the wall, his eyes half closed as he feigned unawareness of the young woman. He exhaled softly as he tilted his head slightly.

Clara slipped her phone back into her pocket and took a step forward, but stopped suddenly when a strange man appeared in front of her. He was extremely pale and sick looking. His eyes were red rimmed as his gaze swept over her. "Excuse me...I'm sorry," she murmured as she tried to move around him, but he got in her way again.
"Hey, where you going to pretty lady," The man rasped as if his throat were made of sandpaper. "Why don't you let me walk you home? It's not safe for someone as pretty as you to be all alone..."
Clara took a step back. "No thank you. I think I can manage on my own..."

Jianlei Tsukino Jianlei shifted his weight suddenly, catching the man's forearm as he went to reach for the girl again. "You heard her. Shove off; if she wants assistance, she will ask for it," he said quietly in a stern tone. He did, of course, recognize the man as a starving vampire, likely a newborn as well, which was troubling.

The man looked to Jianlei, about to retort when he saw who it was that had grabbed him. It hadn't seemed possible before, but his face became paler. One knew when they came across an older vampire; especially one turned by Dracula himself. "So very sorry...I shall be on my way." The man backed up, turned and then fled.
"Well he must have recognized you and to run like that...you must have some sort of reputation..." Clara turned and stopped when she saw it was the man whom she had drawn when first coming to the park. She pushed her hair back behind her ear. "Umm...thanks for that. I appreciate it."

Jianlei Tsukino Jianlei shrugged slightly. "Doubtful, I've only been in this country for a few years, and there aren't many that notice me, much less remember me," he said in a slightly sad voice; that had been his problem even when he'd been mortal, though he was used to feeding without killing. "He's right, however. There are things that show themselves during the night that do not during the daylight hours," he said with a slight shrug. He had discovered that there were some kinds of vampires, possibly older even than his Maker, that fed on emotions, lust, and even life energy. It was a disturbing thought that there were vampires out there that could drain someone's strength and leave them a withered husk... yet still alive and inhumanly aware.

Clara's cheeks flushed slightly as she looked away from him. Oh she had definitely noticed him, and she knew that she would not forget him. Not with the picture she had drawn, and not with how he had just helped her out. "Well I will try to be careful then," she said slowly as she glanced over at him. "I've lived here most of my life and know my way around." She stumbled slightly when someone went hurrying past, knocking into her. As she stumbled the sketchbook that was under her arm fell open onto the ground. The pages turned in the wind.

Jianlei Tsukino Jianlei knelt almost immediately, picking up the sketchbook, though he didn't look inside; he did, however, slip something inside. "Be careful. There are surprises around every corner," he said with amusement. He wondered if she'd come, as what he'd slipped inside was a ticket and backstage pass to a particular event that would happen in a week and a half... at Madison Square Garden.

"I will be, thank you." Clara said with a small smile as she took the sketchbook from him. Their fingers brushed for just a moment, but in that moment she felt an odd little shock go between the two of them. She took a step back, her head tilted to the side slightly. "Well good-bye then." She turned and began to walk away.

It had been a long week and a half. Work had been crazy with new cases coming in, so there had been quite a few late nights. Tonight, however, Clara had managed to get out early. She still could not believe she had found that ticket and backstage passes in her book. She had a feeling that the man she had met in the park had put them there. He had been the only one who had touched it other then her that night. She had found the ticket when she had gotten home.
Now she came to Madison Square Garden wearing a pair of blue jeans with holes along the legs; she wore a blue shirt with only one strap that rested on her right shoulder. Why had she really come here? Because some stranger gave her tickets?

Jianlei Tsukino Jianlei leaned against the wall near the backstage entrance; he knew the concert that would begin shortly; contrary to assumption, not all attractive people sought the spotlight, especially him. Other than a few incidents with younger vampires, he had had a quite week, save for one incident where a vampire had tried to kidnap a young woman other than the one he'd met before.
