It surprised her a little to know that Ivar had suggested that they split up while he was to help someone locate their lost cat. Edel had briefly detached herself from the conversation amongst her friends to peer at the ghoul he was supposedly escorting, before looking back at the dark elf with an expression that teased at him. The returning look was one of slight indignation, and the frost demon simply laughed it off, telling him that she will wait for him back here whenever he was done.
Normally, she would have been satisfied to stay put, but the rest of the party had disbanded and were heading off to explore the village by themselves. Edel, too, thought that she could be useful and gather some information in the meantime. She hoped that she wouldn't be too long... though the same would apply for the man as well.
Trailing behind a few groups of students, she entered the village, finding it to be rather empty and unwelcoming. Cloaked figures took care to avoid the visitors, making it hard for her to approach anyone to ask a few questions.
One of the villagers would react contrarily upon seeing her, bounding up to the ghoul excitedly while motioning towards the mountain that stood at the northern edge of the village. A rather fruitless dialogue of quizzical looks answered with animated gestures soon brought about the point that she was being asked to harvest a certain ore for the villager.
Edel didn't feel particularly opposed to helping, if it meant that she could gain a favour or two in exchange. Furthermore, the climate on the mountain was welcoming, and it should mostly be an easy task for her. Waving to the villager, she set off quickly by foot towards the mountain.

In some sense, having the dark elf absent brought about a sense of relief to the ghoul. For one, he would have certainly been opposed to her doing such a dangerous task, let alone by herself, though he would probably concede to her should she insist upon it. And secondly, for some reason, the ghoul felt a certain need to keep up a particular image of herself around the man. Ignoring the specifics of their rather complicated relationship, she had known the man for a year now. Conversation was easy, though she recently found herself becoming more self-conscious around him.
Running a hand through her hair irritably, she bunched it up and secured it with a clasp, readying herself for the ascent up the mountain. Having lived in the northern ridges, the terrain was familiar to her and she spent little effort traversing the rocky edges and steep slopes. Creating footholds was as easy as rearranging the available snow into adequately sized steps, and enabling her to take shortcuts along routes that would otherwise require a detour.
Her thoughts drifted back to thinking about how Ivar was doing. While she was glad that he wasn't here to suffer through the cold weather with her, she wondered if he was safe. He should be fine, she reasoned to herself unnecessarily.
With the summit just a few more hops away, the ghoul began to scour the setting for signs of that glistening ore. Despite the blinding brightness of the snow around her, the ghoul would spot the brilliantly sparkling crystals. Carving out a sizable chunk of ore with an ice pickaxe, the frost demon quickly made her way down in style, riding on a snowboard she had fashioned for herself.
Handing the ore over the villager, she was informed of some places to check out to satisfy her curiosity about the village. Making a mental note, she set off to head back to the meeting place, hoping that she wasn't late, which would certainly trigger off a worried lecture from a certain dark elf.
