A villager has left a tip about some form of virus happening to the local minipet wildlife. It is up to you to check it out!
Your character must catch one of the local minipets wandering around. Roll 1d10 and see what phrase you get from the list. Then use the minisglossary to pick a pet with that phrase in it (do not pick SE pets or RE ones!)
1. Tropical 2. Sweet 3. Black 4. White 5. Spooky 6. Cheese 7. Onion 8. War 9. Wish 10. Eyeball
Once they have caught one, they need to carefully examine it to make sure it has no signs of the virus (the symptoms are possibly purple, evil looking, very vicious) then they can let it go. If however, it is purple or shows possible signs of the virus, they should hand it in to the villager. Roll 1d4 to see what the villager gives you for your time.
1. You get nothing. They take the pet and go away. 2. You get a halfhearted thumbs up. 3. The pet bites you as you near away from it! Ouch! Add +2 to your miasma meter. 4. The villager looks at you. He says "they key to the door is 8888." He leaves.

"I'm sorry to bother you." Arynek apologized to the dark elf, he seemed to be with his friends and needed to separate from them because he was helping her. The tendrils wilted like plants lacked of moisture and her spirits drooped. It was supposed to be a quick swift trip but ended up like that and embroil someone in.
"Eh? I-I.....it should be fine." To be honest, she felt so jittery to travel with a stranger together albeit his kindness. Her face flushed in rosy color again, flustered. Arynek told herself she would be alright unless something happened, some times to get accustomed were inevitably needed but it wasn't bad at all. The bright guess gave the pessimistic ghoul some hopes to rely on, she nodded and followed after Ivar.
To their disappointment, the villagers were not friendly at all. Although cloaked like she did, they didn't plan to answer their questions at all. Instead, they mentioned about virus on the the local wild minipets and pointed them outside the village to a forest.

gaia_star Murky Forest A veritable maze of trees awaits you in the Murky Forest. It seems slick and rather wet, despite all of the thriving flora and fauna. If you're lucky - or if you have a helpful guide - you can find the mostly hidden Fetor Cave.
Virus! Virus! Virussssssssss!
The news alarmed the ghoul, if she was pretty calm a minute before, she freaked out at the next minute. The tendrils of her cloak brandished and swatted, crushing a nearby branch to reflect how chaotic she was. What if her cat infected with that virus? What if it wasn't curable? Her cat! Her meowstache! The birthday present from her beloved Uchitels! They would be so sad and disappointed, she couldn't let it happen!
Without wind, the two ghostly and long hair strands pinned flat by many clips oscillated like snakes. Her shoulder arched up and she cringed her body, holding her pale hands together.
“Don't worry about that, it'll be a good chance to find out more about this place and get us back to Halloween Town,” he smiled, noticing that she was feeling a little down if the cloak was any indication of her emotions.
Honestly, he wasn't sure if he would ever be able to fully assure her that he wouldn't do anything funny, and admittedly the pairing of them would look pretty suspicious by normal standards. He made sure to keep an appropriate distance from the ghoul as they made their way to the village, keeping up a small easy-going chat to break down the awkwardness in the meantime.
The villager they came across was unfortunately not very helpful with giving them information about the place, or how to return to Halloween Town, though they did mention something about a virus that may be plaguing the wild minipets of the area. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check out the forest where the minipets purportedly lived in, and Arynek's cat could very well have found itself there.
Ivar seemed to notice that the news of the virus alarmed the ghoul quite deeply, who hair was exhibiting a strange behavior. “Let's go quickly then. If it hasn't been long, your cat would not have caught the virus,” he reasoned, nodding at her.
The forest gave off a rather uneasy air, though the abundant flora and fauna seemed to prove that in any case, there was still plenty of life in the area.
“Try calling out for your cat, but not too loudly,” he suggested to Arynek. Ivar wasn't too sure about using fear candies to bait the cat out, seeing as to how they may invite some unwanted attention in this forest full of minipets.
There was a brisk rustle in the nearby bush, which despite his notion of danger, Ivar braced himself to check. Within the bush lay a sparkly looking levathia, which had somehow managed to get its slender body tangled up in the network of branches. Recalling that the villager had asked them of a favour to bring back some of the minipets in the area, the man reached in and gently plucked the creature out from its entanglement. The man was feeling somewhat relieved that he was always wearing a pair of gloves, as the levathia decidedly to n** playfully at his fingers. Wrapping it up in his coat, the dark elf turned to look to see if Arynek had made some progress with her search for her beloved cat.

She knew he was comforting her, but it was hard for her not thinking negatively, thus she nodded. With no better alternatives, they went into the forest. The dark environment there giving her a comfortable sentiment close to her liking had helped to calm her down, the hair that was flying dropped gently and the tendrils reached back to the main body. Born in dark, she always had a predilection towards dark quiet places. Arynek eased up, nodded to Ivar's suggestion while looking at the surrounding.
She took a breathe of the forest, it smelt wet and pleasant. "Mister. Mister, are you here?" She called the cat without a proper name in her small soft voice. Regardless, the meowstache would react to her voice and the "Mister" calling. Different kinds of birds chirping, the mixture of beasts' howls and growls and variety of noises, she could feel the living spirits of it. She sniffed again, besides the fresh smell of flora, there was something else invaded her nose - strong and redolent.
It sounded nice, as if something edible. She lost to the allurement and followed the scent and discovered a fluffy minipet. Like a creepson, it was standing on two feet and making weird pose. The short hands folded up wriggled like some wavy dance movements, the glowing orbs around it glimmered with its motion. "Hello. Are you dancing?" asked Arynek. The Tatoogie with a hat stopped, gazed at her for a few seconds before it skittered over and jumped into her bosom to settle itself. It smelt as pleasant as a nice piece of cheese and it was docile and amiable. It wasn't her cat but she decided to bring it back to the spot they separated.
Small silver tinkle of laughter can be heard from Ivar's back, the ghoul saw the interaction of the levathia and the dark elf was rarely amused. When he wrapped it up in his coat and turned back, the man would see the ghoul already holding a Tatoogie Cheese, much relaxed. It had yellow on it, but it wasn't her meowstache. "I found it." She said, the soft fluffiness was such a good therapy to make her soul at peace. The hollow eyes of the minipet stared at Ivar, all curious.
At some point during the search, he realised that the calls for “Mister” were not directed at him. Still he could not help but turn around each time the ghoul called out, just to make sure that she was okay.
He returned to the spot where they first split up, the minipet all bundled up in his hands as he waited for Arynek to return. When she did, Ivar stared at the tatoogie for a while, feeling quite certain that it probably wasn't the cat the ghoul was looking for. It relieved him to see that the ghoul was feeling a bit more cheerful now though.
“Should we continue the search for your cat too?” he asked, “We still have some time before we head back to the village.” The man adjusted his hold on the levathia as the minipet began to squirm restlessly in his arms. He glanced over at the tatoogie once again, noticing that it didn't exhibit the symptoms that the villager described. “This one looks alright though,” he mumbled, turning to look at Arynek.
Nevertheless, when they would return to the village to drop off the minipets for examination, he would notice that the levathia was being … exceptionally aggressive. He had barely managed to contain it within his coat before arriving, which then the minipet would leap out from his arms and snarl agitatedly. The feeble attempt to calm it down only left him with a small bite on his hand, afterwhich the villager would simply send him away for being most unhelpful.

The ghoul shook her head and showed him the tail dyed in a weak hue of purple. "We'd better bring them back first, and then....maybe....we-we can search again together?" Arynek stuttered, gingerly suggested as she wasn't sure if it is a big favour to ask for.
The minipet wasn't heavy to carry with her, on their way back she witnessed how awful the dragonic minipet struggled through the fabric. It startled her, she was glad that hers was quiet and still but she worried for Ivar. Back in the village, the attempt to subdue the levathia failed, ended up with it snapped at Ivar. The ghoul gulped in a large mass of air, scared. She might squeeze her arms too tightly out of shock that the minipet took a small bite as a warning. As her arms bounced away because of the stingy pain, the minipet ran away.
The villagers gazed at the duo and shooed them for being totally unhelpful.

Ivar was beginning to worry a little that their search may be taking a bit too long. Amidst the fog, he could still make out the fact that there had been a significant shift in the pumpkin sun's position.
Back in the forest, he continued to search through the thicket of bushes for a cat, occasionally stumbling upon a set of footprints on the muddy soil that would suddenly stop going anywhere.
Turning left around a tree, he spotted a stray can on the ground which prompted him to pick it up for disposal. He would find a small treat contesting him for it, tugging it away from him as he bent down to retrieve it.
... He wasn't sure if it was healthy for minipets to be consuming this type of drink, and so he picked the creature up to have it checked just in case.

3. Black
Arynek noticed the dimming of the sky as well, as a shadow creature, she preferred night much more than day time. Yet, if she didn't get home before the night completely dark, her Uchitels would be so so worried. She needed to find her cat and then the way to go home.
She was glad they went back to the murky forest together, after discussion, they decided to search at the periphery of the forest where abundant bushes and shrubs were found. Wearing her long cat scarf as an allurement, she went to the opposite side of where Ivar had his search. "Mister, if you're here, come out. Mister?" She nervously called, then heard some rattling before a set of shrubs. As she got closely, she could hear more small sounds like crushing, sizzles, and patters. She walked lightly and softly until she reached the shrubs, her heart throbbed rapidly she could hear that.
Arynek gulped and brushed the leaves away, there she saw a cat! Unluckily it wasn't a meowstache but a black cat with green eyes. The small critter gazed at the figure appeared and dropped the candy it was munching. She wasn't sure what to do with a watchful cat, the small body movement made the end of her scarf swayed and the black cat caught onto it. "Ah!" She let out a small cry.
The endeavour to detach the cat from the scarf was futile, so she brought it back with her, hoping Ivar would have an idea to remove it. She patted the lovely treat he found, treat was one of her favourite species for their fluffiness and lovable appearance. "Where do you find it?" asked the ghoul, forgot the cat on her scarf.
Yet, the cat didn't forget. While clawing on her scarf, it hissed at the dark elf not to get closer.
Ivar's face lit up to see that Arynek had brought back a cat with her, wondering if she had finally found her lost "Mister". He was about to congratulate her, until he realised that the cat was black and did not match the earlier description of it.
"Oh this guy? I found it near a can of soda - I don't think it's healthy for it to be drinking that though..." he gestured to his other hand that held a half-empty aluminum can.
Reacting to the angry hiss from the cat that clung onto the ghoul's scarf, Ivar backed away slowly, not wanting to upset the minipet further. It crossed his mind to think that he may just be disliked by minipets in general, considering his past experience with them.
Heading back to the village to drop off the soda treat, the dark elf would earn a half-hearted thumbs up by the villager for his sense to pick up the litter in the forest, along with stopping the creature from having an unhealthy diet.

"Soda?" She raised her voice and blinked. It was a weird discovery that some treats had a liking of soda. "Meow~" The sound down her chest reminded her of the clingy minipet attached onto her scarf, hopefully the villagers have a way to get it off. She patted the black cat and it comfortably narrowed its eyes. It seemed to be docile but it had hissed to Ivar, couldn't distinguish if it was infected, she decided to bring it back to the village.
Seeing the dark elf received a half-hearted compliment, Arynek clapped gently for him. As for the black cat, they confirmed it was lightly infected and needed to be treated. They tried to pull the cat from the scarf, but it stuck firmly with its claws. She flustered in panic, "No, no please, not the claws." She cried, begging the cat not to make a hole on it. Recalled the cat was eating candies when she found it, she fiddled out a few from her mysterious cloak and put on her flat-open hand. The cat immediately followed where the candies went, she passed the candies to the villager closet to her. The cat hopped and grabbed the candies, while eating the first one, it was caught skillfully.
"The key to the door is 8888" One of them spoke to her before they left to deal with the minipet. Her scarf was wrecked but luckily no holes were spotted. She sat on the floor in relief, the end of it was pulled and chewed. She turned around and saw a tabby cat munching her scarf.
"MISTER!" She shouted, not comparable to normal creeple's yell but audible. She had found her cat finally, she cuddled and rubbed her pale cheeks against the meowstache which enjoy chewing the material like nothing had happened.
Ivar watched the scene between Arynek and the black cat struggling with the scarf, not knowing if he should jump in to help or not. The issue quickly resolved itself by some quick thinking on the ghoul's part, and the man sighed in relief.
The dark elf furrowed his brow as he overheard the villager say something about they key to the door, which did not make sense to him at that point of time. Nonetheless he made sure to file the information away in case it might come in useful later on.
All there was left was the unfortunate case where they still have yet to find Arynek's cat. He was all ready for another search mission at the forest when he heard the ghoul cry out "Mister!", and was glad to see that someone may have brought back her tabby to the villager after all.
Ivar paused to look at the time, now worrying that he might be a bit too late. "I'm glad you've found your cat Arynek," he smiled, bending down to wave at the meowstache as well, "I may have to head back soon unfortunately, but if you don't mind, I'll leave my number with you just in case." Letting her know she was not obliged to exchange phone numbers with him in case she was uncomfortable, the man fished out a business card from his inner pocket and presented it to her.
"Feel free to call me for help, alright?" he nodded, turning to look at the villagers around to make sure he was not giving off the wrong impression.
